    Local gun store is selling them for around $180 and I'm admittedy tempted simply to have something unique to use as an occasional cheap range toy. Checked the serial numbers on the two pistols displayed on the store's website and sure enough, they're on the rubber bullets only list.

      Yeah apparently Centerfire is also offering them for 185 with free shipping. That’s basically novelty gun prices along the lines of a Cobra derringer or something. I could understand it being tempting by that standard.

    I bought one and so far it works fine.
    My serial number is before the ones on the list.
    I agree with you on what possibly happened.
    For under $200 its a great feeling and shooting pistol

    I purchased mine here in Canada. Mine falls in the list of affected serial numbers. After reaching out to Tara EU, I received the same letter. Tara US is still to reply (6 months).
    2000+ rounds in, couple of jams, but all good. I might just even try the Glock trigger spring mod to ease the workout my trigger finger gets.
    On a side note, as ex military and LEO, I have carried and shot far worse firearms than my Tara on a regular basis.

      While I don’t have any military or police experience, as a collector/enthusiast I too have encountered many examples of worse build quality and reliability than I’ve seen with the TM9, including guns that wouldn’t run for anything straight out of box, and even one that broke within a couple hundred rounds. It’s not the worst gun on the planet but there are quite a few better alternatives for a comparable price, and from manufacturers more likely to stand behind their product.

    I just broke mine in... you have too, I had several jams and I used 3 different metal casings. it seems mine like aluminun casing. after 100 rds I never had issues again. I don't know what the hell
    is the issue with these gun folks talking bad about this gun. it does have a long trigger pull but that's only the first pull. this is a WELL made gun for $185.... you can't beat the price!!

      ...I took the plunge and got one in mid-2022; have put about 600 rounds of different makes of "plain vanilla" 9MM thru it and have not had any problems with the exception of a number of "double taps" needed early on. Replaced the original striker spring with a Glock 5-pound one and yes, the trigger pull is not ideal, but it is a whole lot better now. Would I carry it as a self-defense gun? probably not, but for going to the range to "pop caps," it is kinda fun......

      In a way it’s not surprising that prices have fallen that low since there’s quite a bit of competition at the ~250 range.

    Wow glad I watched this. I have one of these pistols and have out around 100 rounds through it. I'll be checking the list.

      ...I bought one from Atlantic about one year ago (it was listed as a "blemish") and had no idea whatsoever about this "rubber bullet" business....I have put about 600 rounds of various makes of 9MM thru it and except for the miserable trigger pull weight, have had no problems with it whatsoever...what is/are the dangers of this gun using regular ammo...? I can't find anything about what is supposed to happen if you use regular ammo through it..? I find Sellier & Bellot ammo to be the best through this gun......

    • @hobofactory

      @@leonardvarmette7986 I’m thinking it’s not that something bad is supposed to happen if you fire live ammunition, it’s more likely TARA’s way of absolving themselves of having to provide any sort of warranty coverage. It appears that there may be a high rate of parts breakages and/or reliability problems (though presumably some of these pistols do run all and hold up fine), and rather than fixing them, they washed their hands of them by claiming they didn’t intend for live ammo to fired through them.

    Wow. Probably the TM-9X to, eh? Reviewing a pistol you never saw or shot? LOL! Never had any problem? Then you find a "posting"? The only difference is the spring weight. That's all. Really. Well, that and all you can buy in Canada or US states restricted to 10 rounds and get damaged magazines that are not reliable. Dimpling is damaging. These pistols have been out so many years and yet some folks claim they have done "research"? In the end it is a range toy, but certainly not a Jimenez or Bryco pistol. You haven't had a problem with yours? So you post a review based on your internet "research"? I have both a TM-9 and TM-9X, none of what you are posting here is real, just what you read on the internet. They were cheap? LOL! So was the BB Techs BB6 ($250), and you can't touch one now for under $1, 000. At least you admit you could be wrong and you throw in speculation.

    • @hobofactory
      @hobofactory  Рік тому +1

      Lol you need to stop smoking crack before posting on my videos again… please. In the States we absolutely can have unmodified magazines with the full original capacity. In fact those are the only mags I have. Knocking the 2nd gen pistols is extremely reasonable considering the company won’t stand behind their product. In any case, it’s a generally shitty gun and only someone less than half a brain would defend it… which I figure is the reason for your post :)

    • @FernandoChaves
      @FernandoChaves Рік тому

      @@hobofactory LOL! OK! My TM-9 and TM9X run great. I guess I just got lucky. What company standing behind what? The TM-9 was designed and released in like 2014. These pistols were and are clearance priced. I didn't expect any company to stand behind anything on the one I bought. If you don't know how to change a spring, I guess you are left hanging. In the States we can have nonmodified magazines? Wow, lying on the internet, for all to see. For all reading, it depends on what state you live in. Do you need a list of states with limited mag capacity? No, I suspect you know that was a fib on your part. No worries. Carry on. Some people just need to talk so bad they make videos. Keep going on that internet "research". LOL!

    • @hobofactory
      @hobofactory  Рік тому

      @@FernandoChaves either you’re lucky or lying, I guess. That or you don’t shoot much. The manufacturer literally claims on their official website that you’re not supposed fire TM9 pistols with anything other than rubber bullets or blanks… I can’t think of any manufacturers, even the really bad ones (like Bryco or Jimenez), that have so little confidence in their product. It’s not just springs that break, but Tara is so bad about standing by their products they won’t even respond to requests for spare parts from people who need them, emails go unanswered, etc, even if you’re willing/able to do the work yourself, and willing to pay for the parts you need… so unless it’s one of only a couple springs that happen to interchange with Glock that you’ll have to buy on your own dime, you’re out of luck. They’re happy to screw you (and you seem to like it). I’m not sure why you’re insisting I lied about magazine capacity when you’re the only one who’s said anything obviously false here. You claimed we can only get 10-rd mags in the states, when it’s clear we can get full capacity ones. You can literally order them from Centerfire Systems right now. They have them in stock, like new, unmodified. I have like 5 of them. Sure there’s a handful of idiotic cases like California, but by and large, in the majority of the US, full capacity mags are completely available. I’m not sure why you’re simping so hard for this generally lousy pistol.

    • @FernandoChaves
      @FernandoChaves Рік тому

      @@hobofactory I know all about what the web site says. And I have actually communicated with the engineers, and I know who designed it. I have all the spring rates and specs for both versions of the pistol available in the US. You are certainly having a hard time understanding what is going on here. That is certain. No worries. Keep searching the internet. You can't afford 10 bucks for a spring or understand spring rates. Cool. I get that. Stick to the brand names. Seriously. "by and large, in the majority of the US, full capacity mags are completely available" LOL! Yeah. Screw the rest I guess. Screw the 2A I guess. Believe whatever the internet says. Have a great time with that.

    • @hobofactory
      @hobofactory  Рік тому +1

      @@FernandoChaves you’re going to make me crack a rib if you keep making me laugh so hard. Spring rates? Lol, what?That’s all you have left? It doesn’t sound like you understand how shoelaces work, much less spring rates, but do go on. I can’t afford a $10 spring but can afford the H&K shown in this video?.. and routinely have videos on a variety of $1000+ guns? Your grasp on logic is as tenuous as it is on reality. Again, you’re the one who claimed full capacity mags aren’t even available in the states all.
