Well, this is disappointing because I bought my new Pioneer 5.56 Ak about three weeks before I found your videos, and I haven't even had a chance to shoot it because the weather has been so cold where I live.
How would SA3 fare today in modern warfare
Thanks for making videos on this rifle. I bought my first Pioneer Arms AK Sporter a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't fired it yet. It's still too cold outside where I live, but I'm looking forward to finding out how well it does on the range. In the meantime, I'll watch the rest of your videos of this AK brand and try to avoid any difficulties you've already uncovered.
I hear alot of gun guys knit pick. But I don't blame u I wouldn't accept that quality either. The overall things I hear about these clones are people speaking good things. But I guess every gun manufacturer produces a dud or has a bad employee. But I certainly don't blame u I wouldn't accept that either on a new firearm
Ive seen the pioneer arms aks comebwith an extra fireing pin kit and extra trigger group.
Oh but it's just as good.........
Is it forged?
@@surewill5141 yes, the trunnion is forged, so the problems with the rifle aren’t really related to the trunnion.
@@hobofactory ok was thinking on the grom in 556
I've looked at getting both of these rifles. An Auto Ordinance M1 Carbine is running about $1350 now. However, a USGI M1 Carbine is running from around $2200 up to around $3000 as listed on Guns International. I would go with the cheaper price wise for the simple reason of amount of money available to make a purchase. The new one is still cheaper, and I would not worry about tearing it up camping.
@@orionexplorer 2200-3000 seems extremely high for a USGI. One of my go-to retailers for milsurps (Langara Arms) routinely has them in 1200-1400 range. On their GB they have one for 1200 currently.
ua-cam.com/video/L3NyC1HJQpw/v-deo.htmlsi=TF1TRjlyZmAEkKI1
Did you clean it between range sessions? Or did you fire 2,000 rounds through it before its first cleaning? Also, where did you get the headspace gauges for it?
Mine is crap as well. My receiver has unusual wear and mushrooming at the locking surface and the BCG ramp. Now need to fix the crap. $40 shipping. I don think so and they will probably do a monkey repair on it and send it back. I’ll just fix it my self. It will be the last JRA rifle that I will buy. They remind me of century arms crap. Hit or miss. Accuracy is crap. 5-6 moa at best while I can get moa to 2 with my cheap PSA M4 clone.
I had a girlfriend with an over tight bore one time, it loosened up with hard use.
The 1916 Spanish Mauser fought in the Spanish civil war that was of great importance because the weapons used by the pro-communist and pro-fascist forces were subsequently used in WW2 by both forces, the axis and the Soviets. The 1916 Mauser was also used in the Moroccan campaign from 1900- 1928, starting with the 1893 Mauser carbine shooting the 7 mm round nose ammo. The rifle was improved as a 1916 Mauser whose barrels and tolerances were built to accept the Spitzer round in 7 mm Mauser. In no manner were they cheap guns or were they of inferior quality in comparison to a German K-98 from the beginning of the war. It is mere ignorance to make opinions based in people's rumors.
I bought a 1916 Spanish Mauser and it shoots very good. These rifles are not "copies" they are original Mauser built under license so they are not copies. The machinery with which they were built was German machinery. German sent their technicians to friendly countries to set up their Mauser factories. The Ottoman Turks had an armory next to the German Mauser factory at Obendorf where the Turks ensured the rifles sent to Turkey were built built accordingly to the Turkish government. People think that Spanish firearms are rubbish because they are stupid. The 1943 Spanish Mauser were built to serve the Spanish blue division that was deployed near Leningrad and fought the Soviets in World war two. the Spanish government wanted at the time for their troops to have a rifle similar than the German K-98. They were built like I have previously mentioned under license.

You Betcha by gollie wow!!!!! just change the mag followers to the rounded backend so the bolt don't lock back on the last shot. makes it hard to drop the mag
Stinks you got a bad one. From what I've seen, it seems like a fluke. Every other review, on reddit etc, praises the quality. Thanks thanks for your review!
No comments about the super slow Molchat Doma in the beginning so here I am bringing it up.
That makes a Mosin 91/30 look like a Tikka by comparison. Terrible...
My Kahr m1 carbine is a piece of junk, my Iver Johnson and two 1944 Underwoods will run circles are the Kahr one. Magazine was a junk Promag magazine and also a junk magazine, floorplate was small and would go up inside the magazine. Glad you got a good one, for the price I would not recommend.
I've got one. It must have been made on a day QA was scheduled to work. Still trying to find a problem with it. I do own Berettas to compare it to. Mine shoots 95% as good as an og Beretta.
just paid for one in "very good condition" for 300, because i wanted to pair it with my m92fs, which is my favorite handgun i own, and probably my favorite firearm i own. I was really close to getting a girsan for a bit more, but i decided on the 84 because it was on sale for $100 off on psa.. i also really wanted an "antique" pistol. i hope it isnt in shit condition, lol but we'll see. if it is, ill try to replace as much as i can on it. a little wear and tear isnt any issue, but it seems to be hit or miss no matter what condition its advertised in.
Debating on it
I just bought one 3 weeks ago in “very good condition”. Mine was definitely in that condition. The finish is 90% i would say. A few nicks that were easily fixable. It was definitely shot less than 500 rounds easy judging by the internals and wear. I did need to be cleaned up though when I received it. So far, i have bought some spare springs and the OEM Beretta wood grips that make the gun look a 1000% better. Im actually going to shoot it Saturday. Overall an amazing deal at 299.
I just got one with the beginning of the same marks, I discovered there were burrs on the locking block tearing into the aluminum of the frame. took the burrs off and it stopped. Regardless, I agree that’s unacceptable. I’m switching to a beretta locking block to be safe. Other than that the gun shoots well and has been reliable.
Here's how you buy a good Beretta,. You do not buy a worn out Military gun that was used shooting overloaded ammo. You buy a Police Trade in that's rode in a holster it's whole life and was probably fired twice a year for qualification. They were about $400.00 usually. So technically their barely broke in, but may have holster wear. About 1982 I bought a M-16 styled 22LR by Armscore, inside you could tell it was made with hammers and chissels. And today they call themselves Rock Island.
That's what I did with my police issue Glock. Wore ina holster alot. Fired very little.
Does anybody know a decent IWB holster for it?
Sargo has shoulder holster for 39 bucks..
@dougshelton69 I'll check. Thanks!
I ordered mine from psa for about 325 after shipping and tax. This will be my first beretta and I feel like I got a good deal. I've never heard anybody speak ill of beretta.
Did you get the shipping warranty?
@neft5449 No. That's without it.
PSA has a sale right now. Ordered one in "Very Good Condition" for $300. (340 after taxes and shipping, and transfer will cost me another $35 so I'll be at 375 for this)
How did it come? Condition wise? I saw some photos in the reviews and I'm not yet convinced
Did you get the shipping protection?
35$? Oof should be 20$
I had similar thoughts. Thanks for conducting an independent analysis.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the informative video. You saved me from having to buy a lot of different magazines and testing them to see which ones work best, plus you answered all of my questions.
wow. inside machining of my melik looks nothing like that. something is amiss. hope ya get things figured out. korey
Good afternoon sir. I was looking for your part 2 video on this rifle, but I couldn't find it on your channel. As such, I wanted to ask how this build has held up for you since last year. Southern Tactical's VZ58s seem to be the only ones in stock at the moment, and I'd be curious to get your take. Great job on this video, have a good one.
@@nickc.7800 Howdy. I haven’t quite got enough rounds through it just yet to give it a strong recommendation just yet (800 rounds so far, was hoping reach at least 1000 for an update). Thus far it’s held up well, no parts breakages and no malfunctions of any sort with any ammo (AAC steel case, a variety of Russian ammo, Yugo M67). The closest thing to an issue was the stock loosened a bit a developed a wobble. But it was just a matter of adding thread locker and tightening the stock screw back down… a little odd that they didn’t add use thread locker at the factory but not a big deal.
@@hobofactory Good to hear. Appreciate the reply.
I appreciate how thorough you where great review man
Many thanks! If anything I was worried about being too long-winded.
I'd like to test barrel lengths vs the russains stuff. And reliability in short guns.
Unfortunately I don’t have much variety in barrel lengths, everything I’ve got is either around 16” or 20”… but I’ve also been curious if the results would be much different with any of the others.
For velocity 3 is fine. But standard deviation is going to require more rounds for a better number of FPS SD.
IMO even for velocity, the sample size should still be bigger so what could/would otherwise be an outlier doesn’t mess up the mean.
@@hobofactory definitely is good knowing if there's an extreme spread at any point. I've found that happens with some cheaper stuff mainly just foreign producers. The cheap stuff here in usa is all good charges consistent primers but seating depth is crazy different from round to round, even neck tension varies.
PSA has them for sale for $299 today. With tax and shipping, my cost was $344.
Did see that. Hell of a deal!
How was finish and wear on the gun ?
@xm1774 the finish was almost perfect and the gun is gorgeous. It easily has the least wear of any of my surplus / police trade-in guns. I only saw the very slightest amount of wear on two edges of the gun. If you get the same quality as the one I got then it is unquestionably a good deal.
@@xm1774I got two of ‘em….I’d say one was in VGC, the other was GC….I’m happy with both.
Just ordered one
I don't consider something you pay $350 for to be the same as you pay $699 for. Just stop bitching, please. This is for edc carry so if you have to use it you're only out $350, if you can't afford to lose it then don't carry it and that's what I use my two for. They go bang, end of story. If you get one of these that's better than a Beretta go sell your house and buy powerball tickets.
That’s a lot of words to say you have low standards. A fair amount of people say “it’s just as good” as the original but it’s just not. What’s more, there actually are quite a few guns in the ~300 range that are pretty much flawless. If I had strictly practical concerns and wanted a full-size 9mm, I’d get something like a Beretta APX, which is routinely available for under 300 and is excellent.
Love your channel man!
Much appreciated, thank you watching!
I went through a few phone calls and emails with the company over a problem I was having. Needless to say. I was getting really pissed off. Then, after I pretty much gave up their gunsmith called me! We worked through the problem and now everything is fine. Now that's great customer service!
Id like to think the stuff would be decent however ive learned that most the time that steel case stuff is good for metric calibers for range use only or emergency use only
I would say that’s probably a good way approach. Some of the steel case stuff does seem to store ok though, for example the UCW being nearly 30 years old, and unclear if it was well-stored, still performed alright.
I sort of vaguely recall seeing surplus 7.62x25 that was billed as being "Sub machine gun" ammo. Brass cased and a magnetic bullet. Did really ugly things to IPSC pepper poppers :) I have a feeling that much of the fudlore is the result of people shooting steel pistol targets with that stuff.
Please do not eat up good Beryl parts on trash like this
Ouch, that’s a bummer. Sorry to hear that. But I have one, and am happy to report the fit and finish, and reliability/performance of mine has been FLAWLESS.
Looks cheap. Plastic hand grip looks really bad
I just got mine and its super good i put 100 rounds through it today not 1 single hangup. Get it sent back and get another one.
Shooting wrong handed
💚💚💚
It's a little insulting for them to say it is normal wear and expect you to buy that lie. Then, they make you ship it from an FFL? I've never heard of any other company requiring that. I get it when they require sending the replacement to an FFL. The second gun has dumb issues too with the pins. I've been running Beretta (MANY/Versions), Taurus and Girsan for decades. None have been like this. Hopefully the frame on Melik is forged and done correctly. Not sure I want to get one of these now. Glad you are showing this stuff.
I just think it’s bizarre to make the excuse of normal wear, even though agreed to take it back. Why bother? I definitely do plan to continue running this through its paces to see what if anything breaks.
Kel-tec made me ship my CMR-30 from an FFL; luckily my FFL and I have a good relationship and he shipped it and received it back for free (obviously I paid for the shipping label). Kel-tec did mail a check to reimburse me for shipping costs given it was a broken part and I had not altered the firearm, so that was nice, but Henry and Tristar neither one made me mail my gun from an FFL.
May I please get an update?? Did anyone contact you on the matter?? They are low priced, And always try not to buy anything Turkish I heard they don’t answer customers. Thanks.
