Just got a 2004 R6 and the IDEA GEAR wasn't working I looked at your Wiring to the Light Grey so I did that (it Worked) When I got it, It was set up to the dark grey ( dark gray was the wrong wiring) Thanks For The Help Works Great now
Only difference on my install is i connected to the left side on the brake cable as that was the permanent brake light cable. The right side was the brake lever.
Can you help me how to fix mine? Cause I did the connection correctly but when I turn on the ignition it doesn’t work,, it works only when I press the brake lever..thank you
@@randylibrea1145 sounds like you have it connected to wrong side on the brake wiring so try the other side that is live before the switch no after if that makes sense, or even another switched positive like the ignition wiring see if that works
Hey I am trying to follow but you are too fast.... so for the green wire, which of the two wires is it clamped on from the crankshaft position sensor? the instruction i got doesnt tell me which color i am supposed to connect the green wire to.
Ok so I just hooked mine up as well the only thing I’m having problems with is the 12v power source .. I’m not sure what I can hook it up too that will power it on when I turn the key ?? I have a 2009 Yamaha r6 ? Please help
Go off the rear brake or even headlights as its a switched feed meaning power only goes through when ignition is on and not constant power as that would drain your battery.
I already connected it correctly according to directions but it didn’t work and show the sensor when I turn on the ignition...only when I press the brake then it’s working but if I release the brake lever it doesn’t show and it doesn’t work again...what should be the best way to do it???
That be because your brake light isn't got a power feed going through until you hit brakes, so its need to be connected to a different power source cable (switched) so maybe use multimeter on ignition cables and see what lines become powered after ignition is on but then turns off after you turn ignition off then connect the black and red power cable to that then you should have it working when you turn bike on 👍
I tried to install mine little while ago (my bike is '12 R6) and got power on but for some reason why it won't register my gears even after trying multiple resets. I didnt want to take it out so just put it under the seat for time being (hoping maybe it'll do it on own). Bit frustrating. I will post video of it on my channel later on today.
Im guessing for a 12 plate the wire to pick up signal from gearbox may be different, would need to check the wiring manual for your year and make sure same wires are for the same thing as it may have changed for newer bikes i think?
mine isn't sensing the RPM only the speed sensor. just keeps flashing L and will show the rolling motion LED circle movement when bike is moving. it never shows 1 flashing to learn it nor the other gears.
Check the power line bud, get a multimeter on and start the bike up and check for the power line (to brake if that's what you connected too) and make theres a current going through and whilst checking current turn bike off and voltage should stop. As you want a switch power feed either from ignition power be fine if that's easier to tap into
It needs to learn the signal from each gear, the video shows you what I done follow that if not then might have the crank case wire connected to wrong cable try other one
Just nailed it. Could not have done it without you. Cheers.
Nice one glad to be of help Ride Safe 👍
brilliant. great explanation, just ordered one for my 2000 R6.
Thank you, I'm glad it helped you 👍

Glad you got it working and this helped you. Thank you ;)
Do you mean you had to wire it backwards from what he showed in the video? Or did you mean that you had it backwards before you watch the video?
@@colin9630 sounds like it was wired to black wire at first, on my loom is was the grey wire for the crackcase sensor
Great video my install went smooth thanks to this video
Glad it helped :)
Thanks just installed mine today very easy due to this video
Glad it helped, thanks 👍
Great video. Thanks!
If you have 2004 R6 then use left cable in brown connector for +.
Mine Is a 2005, had to switch them bc it only turned on with the brake pedal pushed in lol. Easily depinned it
Just what I needed. Thank you.
Glad it help you

Bonjour, je n'ai pas bien vu. Le fil vert ce branche sur quelle couleur? Merci.
Glad it helped thank you 👍
Thank you! I've just installed mine, also on a R6 '05, following your instructions worked great!
Glad it did so handy having gear indicator 👍

Hi, Green wire goes to the Grey one on a clear connection block 👍

Same here, 2003 R6

Did u work it out? mine is a 2014 and i want it to go smooth when i go to install so getting my info now
mine isn't sensing the RPM only the speed sensor. just keeps flashing L and will show the rolling motion LED circle movement when bike is moving. it never shows 1 flashing to learn it nor the other gears.
so mine is getting power, and wheel ( countershaft ) movement sense ( rear wheel speed ) but not RPM engine speed / crank sense.
Have you tried giving it some revs up to say 3k then it should pick up the signal if not check wiring got a decent connection and is on correct side
@@Grantf69 sure sure, so the thing worked fine after two weeks it died. now sometimes it flashes 1 1 1 1 maybe a power short.

This sucks I did everything the way you showed in this video and I get no power or anyting to the indicator after I plug everything back in

Hi I installed just like you but it only record the L(neutral)

In my yamaha r6 from 2003 plus it was on the left and not the right on the brown plug
I have a 2000 and it's also on the left side were did you find the grey wire.
Didn't work. Tired exactly how you did and didn't work
