Gear indicator install | 07 Yamaha YZF-R6

- Yamaha decided to omit a gear indicator on the 06-07 R6 and as a street rider I believe I need one! It gets kind of annoying when I'm cruising down the road and forget that Im in 6th gear or forgetting that I still have one more gear to shift. This should solve my problem! In this video I jump cut through the install and demonstrate how to configure one.

very good , even i sometime forget which gear i am , people say you know it by torque , revolution of engine..etc but when i am on streets watching Nature i am in no mood to all that test in my mind si this gear position indicator it helps ,i fell it is cool feature to have regard less of what people think , so i am getting this one
a totally useful piece of electronic. who cares what gear is on at the specific moment?

On the R1 2007 the wiring is diffrent.
1. Plug and play cable.
2. Red wire on the brown wire.
3. Green on de grey wire from the gearbox.
( you see a white and grey wire)

Couldnt figure out why mine wasn't working. turns out the connector for the grey wire wasnt clamped down hard enough so the indicator wasnt getting the signal. Grabbed on it hard with the pliers and then it started getting the proper signal coming in. Thanks for the video!

Thats sickkkkk. I'm new to riding , but I just got one of those for my 03 r6 gonna install that tomorrow. I was worried install would get complicated, but this seems pretty straight forward. Keep up with the content channel is dope! Also how are you shifting without the clutch?

The most important thing is where the green wire goes and you literally don’t even show or talk about where it goes…
I have this same indicator, just installed it, but the adhesive it comes with is... one(?) sided. Did yours also come like that?

Hola amigo. Gracias a tu video pude instalar el mismo indicador que el tuyo, lo compre en Aliexpress, Pero tiene que estar defectuoso, me marc todas las marchas de la 1 a la 5 y la 6 no la marca. Aún así me sirve bastante. La 5 y 6 solo van en Autovia
How did you add that with the speedo healer connected?
I need some help. i connected mine on my cbr 600 F3 from 98. It does blink L slowly but not fast when i start the engine. when i have the wheel off the ground and engage first gear the indicator circles and thats it. any help? Green wire is not connected cant find where to get my neutral from could this be the issue?
I just got this same one off Amazon for $50 for my 2005 gsxr 600 hopefully it works..

Hey thanks for your comment, you can watch my “rattle on cold start” video to see where the pickup rotor is(it looks like a sprocket). The rotor coil is a magnetic sensor that interfaces with the rotor itself. From what I understand, The rotor and coil track the position and/or speed of the crank shaft
Once it learns does it need to always learn when the bike turns on for every ride?
Once it learns, the settings are saved, no need to relearn
What wire is the pick up wire on the 07 r6? The am pretty sure I'm on the incorrect one. Picture or more detail on that part?
The pickup wire is coming out of the engine case cover on the throttle side. Trace that wire up under the tank to find a good place to tap into. In this video, it was the grey wire

Im not sure exactly. The only component for compatibility is the speed sensor connector. Everything else is wire tapped

My hear indicator doesn’t cycle through to set each hear the old thing it does is blink L and it rotates when I move do you know why ?
I had a similar problem. If its not cycling through, that means its not properly tapped into the pickup coil. Revisit the pickup coil part of the install and make sure it makes contact.
I installed and shows just first 4 gear. When ignition on show - - this lines not L

Check out my "Rattle resolved" video and pause at 2:47. The sensor right below the timing chain is the pickup rotor coil/sensor. Thats what the green wire is tapping into. From what Im aware of, Its purpose is to tell the ecu the spark firing order. ua-cam.com/video/_C6uTxJ7WDs/v-deo.html

Those are t-taps. I think I got them from walmart
I connected the display to the ECU connector on the engine, unfortunately, after flashing "L", flashing "F" followed by not showing the correct gear.
The wire for the pick coil is important. Make sure you're tapping into the right wire.
You have a clutchless setup?
Yes I have a healtech quickshifter installed
How many wires you connected?
I think 3. A tap into power, inline with speed sensor, and tap into pickup coil

Who needs a gear indicator 😂
It really helps for the streets. Cruising at low rpm can make you forget what gear you're in. On the contrary, it probably isn't necessary for fast paced high rpm riding on a track...Rider preference

Hey how do you reset the setup mate??
I think you're supposed to cycle the key 5 times quick before it stops flashing or something like that. Then it displays L again. I'm looking at getting one.
