    Great analysis, and agree that SCHD should never be counted out. The current defensive makeup of the fund has done well for me. Like you, I have a tech-tilt with my individual stock holdings. I also have VOO as.the main foundation, and have COWZ, SCHG and AVUV with SCHD. So far, so good.

      Glad you agree and nice move on the tech stocks for individual holdings. Sounds like you have some solid ETF’s overall. Thanks for sharing!

    I have over 1000 shares of SCHD. Yep, and I still DCA weekly for more into an otherwise TECH-heavy / Growth portfolio. Given the chart you showed at the start and the Bond market, SCHD did very well for what it is. It's the perfect Nexus between Income and growth, and I don't mind it is now leaning on the defensive side. As a metaphor, in sports, some say something like, "a good offense gets to the playoffs, but the defense will win you the championships." For what it is worth all that means is "find your balance."

      True I could be wrong but just what I noticed in the 2010’s after the tech bubble, even if I’m wrong I still have most of my money in VOO + tech stocks so I’m hedging my guess there.

    433 shares SCHD, have VOO, VGT and FTEC, as well as AAPL, MSFT, NVDA, AVGO. Zero bonds and also have BDC's GAIN, MAIN, HTGC, ARCC. So, tech heavy, but increasingly future income stacking with SCHD, REITS, BDC's and some DGI's.

      @@JP_Dividends I think people under estimate stability in their investing strategy. SCHD gradually grows and pays dividends. Volatility is not all its cracked up to be. That investment strategy is like buying tesla stock. Sure its exciting and can make you lots of money, but it could easily go the other way. SCHD is stable. For anyone having a longterm strategy, this is gold standard. Most things arent predictable, but their is more predictability with SCHD. Goodluck on your journey! rooting for you

      I have voo also; but here is the thing; SCHD and VOO are 2 entirely different ETF that serves a different job based on your investment approach; VOO will give you less dividend but more Growth while SCHD will give you more growing dividend, but lesser overall price appreciation

    I have a little over 250 shares and the dividends just get reinvested. It’s a little over 20k worth and my last payout, July 1st, was $206.
    SCHD usually lags a bit behind the S&P 500 so I do think growth of the actual stock price is in the horizon. If DGI is your strategy, it’s something I think every portfolio should have as a cornerstone. I am currently not buying anymore shares except with the dividends which currently give me around 10-12 shares a year.

    • @JP_Dividends
      @JP_Dividends  2 місяці тому

    why AVGO was dropped from the SCHD ?? I can't remember why.

    • @JP_Dividends
      @JP_Dividends  2 місяці тому

      @@JohnJohn-nt9mf My understanding is cause “their approach is to select stocks based on the following 4 equally-weighted criteria:
      1) Free Cash Flow to Total Debt ratio
      2) Return on Equity
      3) Indicated Annual Dividend Yield
      4) Five-Year Dividend Growth Rate
      All of these are ranked high-low and then equally weighted based on their scores. As a result, the top 100 ranked stocks are selected to be in the index.”
      So I think because AVGO’s yield went down a lot due to their share price growth they were no longer in the top 100 mentioned above.

  • @weblogic7723

    If we take just a period of 3 months each to reevaluate the rates, even a 3 month treasury give 5+% yield.. so what's the point of schd right now at 3.4% when you can see for yourself it's growth is stalled.

    • @JP_Dividends
      @JP_Dividends  3 місяці тому +3

      @@weblogic7723
      1)because treasury rates will not go up from here while SCHD’s dividend will grow year after year.
      2)treasury rates will also go down if the fed cuts rates later this year so the 5% would drop.
      3) treasuries don’t give capital appreciation while a dividend growth ETF does long term.

    • @weblogic7723
      @weblogic7723 3 місяці тому

      @@JP_Dividends That's why i said 3 month period and reevaluate.. schd hasn't appreciated anywhere in last 3 yrs which you showed for yourself.. you can get the 5% yield get out and reevaluate while schd moves sideways. You know for sure it's not going to shoot up like nvda.

    • @JP_Dividends
      @JP_Dividends  3 місяці тому +3

      @@weblogic7723 the 5% is an annual yield, you won’t get 5% in 3 months you’ll get 1.25%. SCHD does grow long term though and treasuries don’t so I’m gonna hold + the income increases over time.
