If I excercise my call in the Tesla example.. so profit =(836-800)*100 = 3600 right? But I have paid approximately 8000 dollar for the contract ..so I am actually losing money ? 8000-3600= 4400???
@@kaustavchattoraj9003 Yes, exactly. You lose the extrinsic value of the option when you exercise it, which is why to realize a profit you would sell the option, not exercise it. But first, you need the option price to increase after you buy it to have a profit. An episode i learned from personally took a hit because I made the decision to go heavy in AMC stocks with the plan to quickly cash out into legitimate projects. Plan was working perfectly until first crash a couple weeks after making purchase a Market Advisor [Grace Shukman Yung] which i employed for assistance and market advise told me to sell off what was left and moved into better projects so far I've recovered my loss with a profit over $80K so far and i hope to make more significant returns under her aggressive methods.

Buy a good cross section of an economy and you should do well over the long term. The market wil be high in 10 to 20 years, and significantly higher in 30. It's almost impossible for a company with no debt to go bankrupt. the U.S. is about 50% of the global market place, Pay yourself first. It's time in the market, not timing the market. last year I invested 100 grand in the S&P 500/ an allocation fund (with the help of my Financial Advisor Rita Lynn Evans of course) and made 370k, but guess what? I put it back and traded with her again and now I’m rounding up close to a million.

I’m just starting to learn about options but I have a question about a strategy I thought of. Would it make sense to sell a put option against the call option you bought so you can double your profit. If this makes sense I understand you’ll be doubling your potential losses too.
It can work, but it's going to lead to massive losses if the stock falls. With a long call only, you have capped downside (the amount paid for the call). If you short a put to finance a call purchase, you'll have a wide stock price range where you won't make/lose any money, but you'll have big downside and a MUCH larger margin requirement to put on the trade.

projectoption thanks for you great info and effort to make this video! I have a lingering question that i CANNOT find an answer to. If you sell your call option before expiration and realize the profit, can you then be obligated if the buyer of that contract decides to exercise? So when you buy a call option, if you sell it to someone else, is the contract now between you and the new buyer? Or is the contract between the original writer and the current owner? I guess this is my only hang up still, otherwise i feel relatively confident. Once you sell your contract to another buyer, you “sold to close” right? So thats it, you are no longer a part of anything and are not obligated nor can you be assigned if the person you sell to decides to exercise. Im sure you are busy, but any clarification would be sincerely appreciated. Have a great day!
@@absolutelysobeast No, because you would close the position. If you buy a call and then sell it, you have no position. You are confusing selling an option with shorting an option, which is selling an option you don't own.

Seeking instant result is not the way to go in the financial market and that is why most people FUD at every slight DIP or MANIPULATION by the these people, I am of the opinion have a long term goal of 1-2 years, don't be a weak hand and you will be satisfied with the result.
An episode i learned from personally took a hit because I made the decision to go heavy in AMC stocks with the plan to quickly cash out into legitimate projects. Plan was working perfectly until first crash a couple weeks after making purchase a Market Advisor [Grace Shukman Yung] which i employed for assistance and market advise told me to sell off what was left and moved into better projects so far I've recovered my loss with a profit over $80K so far and i hope to make more significant returns under her aggressive methods.

Buy a good cross section of an economy and you should do well over the long term. The market wil be high in 10 to 20 years, and significantly higher in 30. It's almost impossible for a company with no debt to go bankrupt. the U.S. is about 50% of the global market place, Pay yourself first. It's time in the market, not timing the market. last year I invested 100 grand in the S&P 500/ an allocation fund (with the help of my Financial Advisor Rita Lynn Evans of course) and made 370k, but guess what? I put it back and traded with her again and now I’m rounding up close to a million.

I’m just starting to learn about options but I have a question about a strategy I thought of. Would it make sense to sell a put option against the call option you bought so you can double your profit. If this makes sense I understand you’ll be doubling your potential losses too.
It can work, but it's going to lead to massive losses if the stock falls. With a long call only, you have capped downside (the amount paid for the call).
If you short a put to finance a call purchase, you'll have a wide stock price range where you won't make/lose any money, but you'll have big downside and a MUCH larger margin requirement to put on the trade.

By far the best video I have come across which has explained the basics of Options trading. The best part is that this knowledge is available for free. The video has been comprehesively created for beignners with amazing analogies and examples. I took my time completing this video in 6-7 parts, taking breaks and doing simulated trading account for each chapter. This has helped me alot as I am still finding my feet in the trading world.

projectoption thanks for you great info and effort to make this video! I have a lingering question that i CANNOT find an answer to. If you sell your call option before expiration and realize the profit, can you then be obligated if the buyer of that contract decides to exercise? So when you buy a call option, if you sell it to someone else, is the contract now between you and the new buyer? Or is the contract between the original writer and the current owner? I guess this is my only hang up still, otherwise i feel relatively confident. Once you sell your contract to another buyer, you “sold to close” right? So thats it, you are no longer a part of anything and are not obligated nor can you be assigned if the person you sell to decides to exercise. Im sure you are busy, but any clarification would be sincerely appreciated. Have a great day!
@@absolutelysobeast No, because you would close the position. If you buy a call and then sell it, you have no position. You are confusing selling an option with shorting an option, which is selling an option you don't own.
