Wow! You guys must have an amazing relationship to be able to go through that and stay together. Congratulations! I hope you have a wonderful time in your new home.
Building the bus was a tough time for sure. Thanks for the kind words 😊
Welcome to the world of “Home Is Where You Park It” can’t wait to follow your journey!
Thank you for following along ☺️
Love how you powered through the hard parts & made it all come together! I plan on building a truck camper from scratch with obviously no experience , the stress is real :)
The stress is so real, lol. Just take it one day at a time and don't let the constant setbacks stop ya. Can't count how many times I got half way done with something only to need another tool or more screws or w/e. But that's just camper building.
If you haven't already, give she roams wild a look. She's been painstakingly rebuilding a truck camper. youtube.com/@SheRoamsWild
I'm proud of you guys and I don’t even know you! Can’t wait to follow your journey!!
Aww, thanks for the support!
Love this one, Look forward to see a tour of the inside and to folow your journey
Thank you for following along! Hoping to get a tour out one day soon :)
I'm so proud of this couple for never giving up on their dream, also the new addition to their family a cute puppy..😊
Cashew says thanks 🐕♥️
Wow,how can I relate this to being 62 years old, married 💏42 yrs with 4 👨⚖👨⚖👨⚖👨⚖adult sons 2 👩⚖👩⚖daughters in laws❤, living and owning a duplex 25 yrs (with all its responsibilities) and last but not least being grandparents of six beloved children🙋♂️🙋♂️🙋♂️🙋♂️🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️.
Life in this world is like all that you describe prior, during and future ups and downs of this tiny home build.
CONGRATULATIONS that you both were able to overcome the valley and mountains, to find restful moments in the prairies of life. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thanks for the support, Sandra. It's never too late to hit the road in your own RV ♥️
Hi, it's not a desire I have been given, but I can only relate to the challenges and victories on the path we as individuals travel, either physically or mentally. Again Cheers to you both.
Love this! Nice work guys.
Thanks so much!
Such a heartwarming story! You guys are sooo awesome, and sooo inspiring, and your truck/tiny-home is simply beautiful! Now, it just so happens that my wife and I are basically on 1st base of doing the exact same thing to a 1997 ex fire rescue truck. So finding your new video has re-energized us for the HUGE task at hand, especially because our truck is a bit bigger (30ft overall), plus it has 2 rear boxes. We bought it last Nov and it sat parked (and covered) for the winter, but now that spring has sprung here on the east coast of Canada, we have begun the work. Starting first of course with gutting the rear box. I also just finished putting in two new egress/escape windows on both sides. Over the winter we accumulated most of what we need to finish off the interior, and we will soon be ready to put the new wall and ceiling panels up, and once that is done we can begin to finish it off inside. Btw, I have watched a few other similar vids which were also very helpful (and also very well done), but yours was extra special and connected with us the best. You guys have a special way about you, and your vids are done beautifully. Amy's narration and story-telling are serious;ly second to none. To think you did all that to the truck, and made such a vid as "amateurs", almost defies belief! You have found your calling! "Take the risk, or lose the chance!" Your risk paid off in spades!
Thank you so much Ray! We really appreciate the kind words! We're always trying to improve on our video and story telling skills and it's nice to hear people enjoy them. Feel free to let us know if you have any build questions, sounds like you have a very similar rig (maybe even the same box maker) and thanks again for joining us!
@@busingonabudget Thanks will do, and have a great summer!

This is soo awesome. Great video.
Aww that means a lot, thank you!
Where on earth did you find the patients to begin this project. I watched and felt your pain. The end result is nothing short of super-cool. Oh, and recording and then editing the video diary must also be a job and a half. Great to see the results. You both obviously have a ton of determination. I'm intrigued to see the future. Subscribed with a happy smile!

I've never responded to any UA-cam video in my life! This is my first! I love you two! Fyi- I've haven't been able to decide which I want to get, either a shuttle bus or a fire truck. Well..., after watching your videos I'm pretty sure now. Also, dude..! If you haven't married her yet you're wasting time! Once again, I love you both.
Yessss, get a fire truck and keep us posted on your progress!! Thanks so much for watching and commenting :) (sorry for the late response, we haven't been great on keeping up with comments) and hard agree Dan needs to get a ring on this finger asap lol!
You did a nice job in building your tiny home. Enjoy.

So awesome! I hope you find one. It would tow an Airstream so well I bet! Thanks for watching :)
Just found you today. Love the bus buildout.
Glad to have ya along for the journey!
Awesome work and very nice home
Thanks Willie!!
Love this!
♥️🐕🚒🏔️
Keep on trucking!
Thank you!
there are times when a cutting torch is really nice - like when you want to get a bolt out that is causing trouble
Ohhh good tip! We'll look into one of those!
I would have loved to see the finished product all pretty and put together....
Us too 😢, we didn't film that before hitting the road. Stay tuned though, as will be releasing a tour vid in the next month or 2
Just subscribed to y’all!!! Good video!!!
Thanks, Kathy ♥️
Amazing ❤
Thank you! :)
Thing about a fire truck is it’s built better than any RV
We thought so too. If it's done 250k miles on the Forest roads in the Cali hills, it's good for another 250k on pavement and national forest
Awesome epik build
Thank you!!
Awesome 👍
Thanks!!
👏 👏 👏 Good job . 👍
Thanks, Mary!
Incredible ❤🎉
Awww, thanks so much!!
Awesome
Thanks Clara!
Wow, so I'm subscribers 889 and 890 😊 both my accounts. Seems I stumbled a pond you close to the beginning. I will play catch-up. I love you both already. Let the journey begin, I have a front row seat . Take your time and research every step. It's not a race it's an adventure. Let's get it right and safe . Look at your comments sometimes the answers are in them ❤.
Thanks for the support, Marie ☺️
Are you able to park conversion buses and trucks in all rv parks. if not how many turn downs do you get.
Hi! We've had one or two turn downs, but we've stayed in free campsites more often than not. A lot of the corporate RV parks have strict rules, but we were lucky to find one RV park to stay in long-term during the winter months. If the RV park allows rigs over 10 years old, they will likely accept most vehicles.
Thank you
Good job Live confidently and peacefully
Thanks, John!
I just saw one of these fire crew buses here in Quartzsite and thought that would be perfect. And so I searched and found this video
Awesome! They make great overland rigs! I would recommend a van if you think you'll be staying in the city a lot. We like to park the rig in a national forest spot for 2 weeks at a time and take our tracker out to do things and errands. Diesel gets mighty expensive at 9 miles per gallon, it's definitely a factor when thinking about taking a detour to hot springs and stuff. Makes it much easier to detour when your getting 28 mpg in the tow behind. We snagged ours for 5 grand, I see them at the occasional auction for that
I want something that can go anywhere and that's what that will allow me to do
Haven't met a forest service road we couldn't go down. There have been a number of small national forest sights that we skipped over, imagine a small overlook without RV parking or spots we could double Park in. Busy National parks are another hard one, gotta park in the overflow lots usually. Our rig is 26 feet bumper to bumper, an extended van is 19-21 feet, the longest sprinter is 23 feet. That extra 7 feet keeps big red out of a lot of spots. We had an Econoline van before, great for parking, not great for full time living or being outside of the city more than 3 days (shower, water capacity and food being the big things).
Anyways, good luck on your venture. You can dive into our build series if you're bored. FYI, our build including the rig came out to $15k ish. Our van build was $4000 ish. But our truck has mini split air condition, 800ah of lithium, 1200 watts of solar, a nice plug in charger, hot water, shower, awning, TV, etc. I think we were pretty frugal, I've seen people drop 20-40k on 11 window bus builds like ours
@@busingonabudget you guys did very well! I like how you got you stuff to build your camper. I always get stuff off of craigslist or wherever I can because new stuff is just too expensive. Yes I will be living in it full-time so that would be the better option. It's like a mini version of the Earthroamer.
I bought a short school bus to make a camper out of it. Just getting started, got all the seats out of it
Nice job Marvin! Demo was really tough for us
Good luck from Sri Lanka
Thanks for watching! It's fun to know we have international viewers
wow that must been journey off lot of work , and free rent ! lol
Sooo much work 😅 Free rent and beautiful views indeed 🌅
have subscribed hello from England
Thanks!!♥️
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
👍🚒,👋♥️
How did you insure it?
After converting it, we were able to insure it as a motorhome! We just had to call around to find someone who would.
I want to do this so bad lol my wife on the other hand ..... Not so much lol maybe one day props to you two
It's definitely a big task. Buying an older RV and giving it a remodel is a low difficulty entry point. Adding wood flooring and repainting the interior goes a long way
@@busingonabudget I appreciate the response
Oregon built buses are the best
Yes!! Thank you for watching :)
Are you guys from the north west
Yes we are 😀
All fine and dandy but this limits where you can park.
So true. Thankfully we have a tow behind rig we take into town
after all that, we dont even see the finished product /design?
We didn't film it in all the move out chaos 😭 Tour vid coming soon though
you could have rented a storage uint space to work on it
We thought about that but had trouble finding a place that allows wood work and parking at an affordable rate. I did see a pole barn on a farm for rent but they wanted $700 per month 🤑
@@busingonabudget $700 IS WAY TO MUCH
😂you guys called it a bus, RV and a truck. 😂what is it?✌🏽
LOL all of the above!
Be careful of going up steep hills in those CCVs. They are top heavy enough to roll down hills as many Prison camp fire crews have experienced.
Good looking out, Timothy ♥️
@@busingonabudget No Problem, May you always succeed to whatever you want to become in life. Oh, and I'll leave one more tip as I want to see you two succeed even in holocausts especially for you to do mankind the favor of Repopulating the earth by obviously much nicer people that are humanitarians by nature such as yourselves: Start learning how to live on the sea in decent sized ships between now and 2028 for years at a time, literally living off of whatever you can catch in the sea and getting water from survival equipment such as moister farms which is a device that you float and it separates sea salt from water and dont ever count on cruiseships to AID during a world catastraphy because they'll just fill up their ships with every crew member that works for them and company officials and nobody but them will be able to escape what they run from. That way, you can be out in the middle of the ocean, too, to escape America when we get pounded by nuclear missiles coming from, by then, Former NATO allies and WARSAW PACT nations-all of them. So, when Biden allows a nuclear terrorist attack happen on American soil and Sarah Palin becomes President off of it in 2028, run and get out of the way. Watch it from the ocean. Good luck
