I was very skeptical when I bought this CPU from Aliexpress about 2 months ago (it was just under 200 CAD) and wasn't expecting much; however, the one I got was a banger! I ran it through the ringer (Cinebench 30 mins multiple times-played a bunch of games on it). Put it to use in my everyday activities and it generally sits around 60-65 degrees under my heavier load usage. Saying that, I went to order a second one for a friend of mine and they are sold out. Maybe I got lucky? It does suck that could be a real issue moving forward.
I recently nabbed a good deal on my local marketplace in Ohio and I managed score a Cyber Power Prebuilt a guy was selling unopened that he bought as Best Buy but was past the return window. The specs seemed decent it has a Ryzen 8700F RTX 4060 16GB DDR5 Single Stick Sadly.. B650m-C Motherboard and 2TB WD NVME and segotep 850w PSU. I had no knowledge about this CPU prior to buying but figured 600 USD for a brand system on ddr5 was a banger. I came from a ryzen 5 2600 and GTX 1070 so it definitely was an upgrade. Hopefully this cpu lasts me or I may sell it and get a Ryzen 9600X or 7800x3d who knows in the future. Temps seemed fine on cinebench R23 and R24 I was under 78C the whole time. Gaming was around 55-60c. Time will deffinately tell but I hope this CPU last a good bit given the thermal paste on die situation.. Cheers!
"HERE WE GO AGAIN!" Thanks as always for the great content. Someone should definitely share that video with AMD, shame on them with their BS marketing. Curious to hear about your experience with the B580 GPU, hope you will get your hands on it soon 🔥🚀 Have a great week ahead 💪🏽
Yeah, I'm in that camp. I liked having TIM between the IHS and CPU because it made it easier and worthwhile to delid. The best case scenario was when I delidded my 6700k and that slashed +30.c off stress temp temps.
I bought the same chip on Aliexpress for under 130 and just got it today. Now I see this review, lol. Oh well, at least im still on Am5 and can upgrade later on!
I miss the days when every CPU was a direct die CPU. Remember overclocking the AMD Barton to insane levels. These days you need to delid and loose the warranty. Also putting an IHS on top soaks some initial heat and spread it away from the die, allowing the manufacturer to preoverclock the CPUs due to heat hotspots being less of an issue, leaving less overclocking peformance on the table for enthusiasts. And even in this the fail sometimes like on this bad paste job.
I 've just bought a 8700F. I don't play PC games but I've to edit videos occasionally so I need a multi-cores CPU because the more cores the faster task. However, I just do it occasionally so I don't want to pay too much on it. 8700F is the cheapest AM5 8 cores CPU. 12 cores or 16 cores are too expensive. In addition its temperature is low. I don't like the case blowing hot air to me.
My 9800X3d died after two weeks of usage. I changed out my entire PC only to figure it out it was my new 9800X3D. I am now using a 7500f as it is the only CPU I had and I paired it with a 7900xtx. I am CPU bound now and I lost like 50fps because I game at 4k. I hope I can get my new CPU before next year. 750OF is a great 1440p or 1080p chip if you do not pair it with a high end GPU.
People get older you look great don't worry about it. I want to see you do another one of those videos where you find some busted up crap give it some tech yes loving and end up with a badass gaming rig
Industry standard is to have way more cooling than you need so it's a variable that's been removed. If anything, it made it even clearer to find the issue. You're right. No one building a bunch of computers would ever water cool that heavy. It's just a testing concept.
It's a CPU test. You want to remove as many variables as possible... Imagine cooling a 14900K with a stock cooler... Then in your review said it was bad because it throttled to 2Ghz...
Had the same issues with the 2400G, where temps had double digit drop after a delid. TBH, my 5700G seems hotter than it should be. I want to buy an 8700G but AMD have just given everyone the giant middle finger with the same shit quality paste they insist using on APUs. Such a waste of a good product.
I had artifacting on the iGPU of my Ryzen 7 8700G across two different motherboards and 3 different power supplies. I feel like QA on the latest crop of desktop APUs was non-existent.

Honestly, the i5-14400f locally is under 160 usd, 10 cores 16 threads, on a platform that you could still run DDR4 if you wanted to save some cash. The 8700f falls in a weird spot and prob not worth it for anyone really.
I can't say a bad word about the Ryzen 7 8700F, but it's not the low CACHE L1\/L2\/L3 memory that's to blame, the problem lies solely with the PCI-e 8x bus...! It prevents the RTX4080\/4090 graphics card from reaching its full potential, which is why the Ryzen 7 8700F is terribly locked up and still plays ping-pong with the rails all the time, causing strange performance anomalies in games. If it had PCI-e 16x instead of PCI-e 8x, it would be a completely different story. Even the old Ryzen 7 5700G will make better use of the RTX4080\/RTX4080 than the Ryzen 7 8700F because of the PCI-e bus. When we test the speed of compressing files, editing videos or copying files, we can see that there are no problems, i.e. the Ryzen 7 8700F is faster than the Ryzen 7 5700g\/Ryzen 5 7500F-7600. The most interesting story is that Ryzen 7 8700F works very well with RX6500X PCI-e 8x or RTX3050 PCI-e 8x, i.e. these graphics cards have PCI-E 8x buses, but this is stupid. I am not surprised that the Ryzen 7 8700F has a weak IHS, because the normal Ryzen 7 8700G heats up more because it must have a better IHS. Ryzen 7 8700F PCI-e 8x is Achiles heel, but I can't complain, was bought for $110-120 [in September on Aliexpress].
Yeah, even GD is better paste, got me like 3 huge ones for cheap, not even used one for a while, 4 years no complain... for that money i'd have like one small and re paste every year...
I might get dislike but I have a reason to recommend Ryzen 7 8700F. It is not mainly for gaming but people looking at lower budget CPU for productivity. It's too good for its price and it is on the platform the will have longer life. It's far from the best gaming CPU but let's be real: This Ryzen 7 8700F paired with lower midrange Graphics Card like ARC B580, Radeon RX 7600 (XT), or Geforce RTX 4060 (Ti) should be able to provide good (not great) experience for lower budget builder, while opens up the opportunity to upgrade CPU in the future without replacing the motherboard.
And fan boys say intel is space heater... bro cpu at 60w is 62°c with aio🤦♂️,yet intel locked skus have more cores and pl1 of 65w and run cooler.. alsp idle at low wattage ..12400f,12700f and 13th 14gen locked skus are underrated...
"That's the thing. I think most people into gaming don't have the money to spend $800+ on a GPU. So, if your budget is $300 for a GPU, there are better options in AM4 hardware as you can buy new high-end parts with proven reliability. I got into AM4 just as AM5 was released and found some great deals. Rocking the Gigabyte B550 Gaming V2 $74, R5 5600X3D for $199, and a used $300 PowerColor Red Devil RX 6800XT that is an absolute beast after a re-paste, undervolt, and overclock to 2600 MHz @ 1000 mV, as well as undervolting the R5 5600X3D with Team Group ARGB 8X2 16 GB 3600 CL14 DDR4. Everything mostly new or open box, as was the case with my Cooler Master 240 AIO, and open box STRIX 750W Gold PSU. New parts include CPU, RAM, motherboard, case, 6X 120mm Cooler Master ARGB fans, 3TB Samsung Gen 4 NVMe, and Wi-Fi 6 Bluetooth network card with Windows 11 Pro. Total cost $1200. Getting a score of 17809 in Time Spy and it looks as good as it performs. I would need the likes of an RTX 4070 Ti paired with the R7 7700X to compare it's performance level for gaming."

*Glad I sold 6 PC's with and 5700F !* ( Just because I then, already knew, they were(are) a good deal )
I'm now sure, I'm gonna stock up some more ! Thanks Bry !
Cheers!
"HERE WE GO AGAIN!"
Thanks as always for the great content. Someone should definitely share that video with AMD, shame on them with their BS marketing.
Curious to hear about your experience with the B580 GPU, hope you will get your hands on it soon 🔥🚀
Have a great week ahead 💪🏽
If they did a 8700fX3d would be great 😅
Please always include an esports title which is cpu limited
Thanks!
Yeah, I'm in that camp. I liked having TIM between the IHS and CPU because it made it easier and worthwhile to delid.
The best case scenario was when I delidded my 6700k and that slashed +30.c off stress temp temps.
Does it have better latency than Intel or chiplet Ryzen for general purpose use?
Good question I'd like to know the answer too
How to delid this CPU safely?
This would be a good upgrade for my r7 2700 60hz monitor
I will pin a comment about it, should have probably talked about it.
buy 5700X3D better
@@GTX3584XE not better if you want am5, but is a good cpu if you are in am4
I bought the same chip on Aliexpress for under 130 and just got it today. Now I see this review, lol. Oh well, at least im still on Am5 and can upgrade later on!
Let us know your temps and power use. Maybe TYC just got a dud. For 1440p and productivity these may not be a bad value while we wait for 10700x3D
Im glad i went with the 7500F + 4060 for a budget build for my lil bro.
The price of this part must go down
I just picked one of these up for $131 after discounts thinking I shouldn’t even build and send it back now
There are AM5 direct die frames on Aliexpress going for $6 AUD on Choice delivery to Australia its obvious content Brian
I don't like the case blowing hot air to me.
what about ryzen 5 7600X ???
What about it?
@@copyorange any good?
I use 8400F and game at 4k no issues whatsoever. Runs super cool.
Ryzen 8000 series are mobile cpus for PC
You know its gonna be a rough day when your cpu is on the thumbnail of this video…
0:33 Voltage is too high, set it to 1.250 max
I think r7 8700F is for OEM PC like HP/DELL/LENOVO/ASUS
People get older you look great don't worry about it.
I want to see you do another one of those videos where you find some busted up crap give it some tech yes loving and end up with a badass gaming rig
who the hell use aio 360 on $160 bucks CPU?
420mm 😂
and imagine if you didnt..
Well I don't know, but i use custom loop on a 14$ E5-1630 V4. Because the original Intel cooler is a little bit loud.
It's just not got enough Xeon power and multipurpose spray!
@@Sonic6293 AMD. Ant help but drop the ball when it comes to APUs. Great products in theory, with no polish.
Fenugreek for hair loss . Plenty of med studies on it. Blocks dht.
that 7500f reminds me of the 5700x3d
👍👍
I never bothered with the 4000 series on AM4 and I'm not wasting time money and effort on the 8000 series for AM5
So how do we know which CPUs are designed this way and which ones aren't? I don't want to buy a terrible CPU.
wonder what would happen if someone used liquid solder instead of thermal paste... or if ya mix them both together
"Hi dear people from AMD,
Thank you for the good CPU, mainly X3D, when dedicating time to understanding AMD’s sneaky naming of the new lineups.
Will my Zen+ Ryzen 5 2600 never be patched against Sinkclose breach ?
Even if the Ryzen 5 2600 was launched more than 5 years ago, you are still selling new CPUs with old Zen2 Cores. That makes the Ryzen 5 2600 Zen+ only one generation old, with a kept alive AM4 socket with new CPU out still (Thank you for that, even if the EU were excluded from the Ryzen 5 5600X3D, I hope for the 5500X3D).
The AMD Ryzen 5 7520U is a Q3 2023 CPU AMD Mendocino (Zen 2, Ryzen 7020).
May we have an AGESA UEFI patch for the Sinkclose breach on Zen+ Ryzen ?
Or please downgrade the Zen+ Ryzen 5 2600 CPU as no longer compatible with Windows 11.
I do not understand a Ryzen 5 2600 CPU compatible with Windows 11 secure boot and TPM2.0, but not patched against Sinclose.
I always liked AMD because it was the outsider that was thinking more about its final customers, than its shareholders. That was the old AMD that made the Ryzen 5 1600AF Zen+ compatible with windows 11. Now AMD is in favor of planned obsolescence. Recycling only its own old architectures for the profit of shareholders polluters.
I will avoid contributing too much to that anymore."
No response from AMD.
Regards
Of course you got no response with a letter like that!
Uh oh Bry
Uh oh Bryan Said a Bad word lol
Thing is 8700f is already expensive for what it is..
AMD is having a "Haswell" moment.
8700g+a620i+flex psu are viable alternative to mini pc without dedicated gpu
wait so the lid is to spread the heat not to potect the cpu?
both. protects from tightening down the cooler too much on a direct die. IHS spreads the pressure to the pcb some.
The F stands for fokt😂
Its great just slower than 7700
Honestly, the i5-14400f locally is under 160 usd, 10 cores 16 threads, on a platform that you could still run DDR4 if you wanted to save some cash. The 8700f falls in a weird spot and prob not worth it for anyone really.
Yeah, i went with the 9800X3D 😅
after i buy a ryzen 7 8700f....mannnnn... 😭
Pretty sure all APU chips use thermal paste...
Ryan will you test the B580 on a PCIE 3.0 computer with the 10900K ????
Uh oh, AMD pulling an Intel.
Is this the beginning of the end for AMD?
Yeah, even GD is better paste, got me like 3 huge ones for cheap, not even used one for a while, 4 years no complain... for that money i'd have like one small and re paste every year...
AMD inside
And fan boys say intel is space heater... bro cpu at 60w is 62°c with aio🤦♂️,yet intel locked skus have more cores and pl1 of 65w and run cooler.. alsp idle at low wattage
..12400f,12700f and 13th 14gen locked skus are underrated...
Ryzen 5 7500F 👈🏽 this is the way.
its basically on 5800x level of gaming
Some of the amd desktop (normally mobile) chips run at a higher voltage than they actually need. The missing solder is a disgrace though
Interesting.
pay more for less performance in games. higher temp and higher consumption 😮😅
these are for chinar so ofc they went for save cash option
Ryzen 8700f and the epyc series 4004. 😂 two piles of 💩. Edited for spelling
What's wrong with AM5 Epyc?
@ other reviewers have tested them, and they’re slower than the Ryzen cpus. I still want one just for fun.
should of soldered it yourself!!
