Aa for the holding on the side, while left handed...you can just flip the orientation so the blue (Note Air)border is on the right. Still watching. So far, I'm with you along the way!
True of both devices. I frequently read in horizontal mode (Kindle app has two columns so it's just like a paperback) holding it by the "end" and it's great.
May I ask. As i look into these products for the 1st time (2nd hand). i think about certain functions and if they are available. To your knowledge i was wondering if you Can you do things like: *create folder/subfolder * heading/sub heading shortcuts * hyperlink within(maybe a file/folder)/externally *Merge files/rearrange pages Thanks for your time . All the best.
Like Cobey mentioned rotation to hold by left hand, the same thing goes for charging cable issue. And the Air has auto-rotate detections, which makes these two points seem a bit unfair I guess. Liked this video anyhow, keep up the great work CPO!
Note 3 has more memory, more storage, and a much better battery. The additional storage is important. Just considering formatted capacity and everything installed on a device with 64GB you will only have about 49GB of storage, but on a device with 32GB you will only have about 17GB of storage. You'll have around 3x the usable storage on a note 3 vs the note air, even though you only have twice the total storage.
Yes. If you take a lot of notes (especially if they include images or recordings) or want to use various Android apps, it's definitely worth the upgrade price.
Valuable advice. I am interested in your coming video that you have mentioned about stopping the Boox background services. That's the thing bothering me a lot.
Interesting. I know what you mean by the plastic feeling better. I found the same thing with RM1 vs RM2. One big plus for me on the Air is backlighting. Even in a coffee shop, the backlight helps me substantially. It's a deal killer now that I've used it. Really enjoying your channel!
I agree about the light. I didn’t think it would matter that much to me.... but now I am not sure I can live without it. I leave it at a very low setting. In well lit rooms, you can’t even tell it’s there... but when it’s dark, it’s enough to keep me reading without missing a beat.
I’ll just flip it to the bottom... oh wait. Just playing. I do prefer the bottom hold position (in portrait) better... but it doesn’t matter that much. I own them both. I just like the Note3 better. Sorry.
The note 3 is better.. Double the storage, bigger battery, more ram, stereo speakers and it is lighter! Some people say that with the backlight off the screen is a little whiter on the air do you see any difference? Also can't wait for root
Yeah, switching from the Kindle Paperwhite to the Note3, I don't think the light (controllable as it is) is too white. I just turn off the white light and use the yellow light on low and it's perfect for both a lit room and reading in the dark.
Yes even Kindles have an experimental browser option Just make sure you look up on specific tablets that your interested in, as in my understanding the remarkable doesn't have a browser.
@@EVERYTHINGcpo I take it you've found no major differences in screen display on the two systems. I only just saw a review of the Air. Does the Note3 also have the ability to detect full 360-degree rotation? I can't see _needing_ that but would be interested to know if the feature is present. Have you (or other reviewers that you know of) ever reviewed the Boox line and focused specifically on the e-reading experience? I'm kind of at my wit's end with a Kobo and have got to find a better system. For all the cool things the Boox can do my major use for it at least for starters would be e-book reading. Thanks.
@@mikearst2940 Display is different from a technical perspective, but to the user it's going to basically appear the same. The Note3 DOES not auto rotate... you still have manual rotation controls, but there is no accelerometer in the device to detect rotation automatically.
@@EVERYTHINGcpo Thank you. It's a bit odd but as I recall hearing the 'Air' has auto rotation. In seeing reviews that talk about Neoreader I haven't yet been able to find out-does Neoreader support altering alignment style in ePub files from full left/right justification (flush left _and_ right, that is) to flush-left/ragged right?
@@mikearst2940 , personally, I would hate auto-rotation. I often read on my side in bed and like that it won't shift on me when I'm holding it sideways intentionally. That said, it's three easy clicks to select rotation using the bubble (bubble, rotation, direction) or overlay (top of screen, rotation, direction) so it's NBD to do it manually.
i have small question, if i would use in offline , i can use dictionary a tts,i can share apps in notebook and then put in onyx boox note 3 ,thank you answer:-)
The hand you hold the Boox Air with can be switched by just rotating it upside down. Since the button and port is on the side not nothing really changes. But I would prefer the Nova 3 as well. Just wish it had an SD card to load more apps.
A lot of people say to flip the note air but rotating the left bezel to the right side with the auto gyro is the real way to go 🤣. But in all seriousness maybe using that big bezel positioned on the bottom in landscape might be a cool way to type as a laptop with Bluetooth keyboard for writing books on the go. Look at how much money they charge for those e-ink typewriters is crazy.
I expected more in this review, like software if it's the same or not, if the s pen it's the same or not, specs, etc... if it was a part 1 and part 2 video no problem at all, but is very incomplete in my point of view, but the title does not say it's was a comparison but is kind of what I will expect because is showing 2 devices at the same company.
@@EVERYTHINGcpo you can't just say you can't hold the air on the side but you CAN and LIKE holding the 3 on the side?? They both have the same frame width it doesn't make any sense...
They both have it. It's reasonably well implemented. Things are a smidge small for PDFs but it would be great for, say, reading a book for your English class in the Kindle app while you take notes (since you can't write in that app). I use it to download papers in Chrome based off of the references in a PDF journal article.
Note air though looks classier. And can be attached to the boox keyboard better than note 3. I have a nova pro so I have an idea more or less of the build quality of that plastic device. Remarkable 2 is made in aluminum for a reason. Cant imagine how you attach the note 3 to the keyboard. But to each its own I guess.
are you for real ???? you can change the screen orientation so if you hold the device with the othe hand you don't loose the benefit of the holder......... and it's the same for the usb cable, just rotate the screen ....
Pin lock is the most reliable. Face lock and fingerprint lock not so good. Why? A simple example: my niece grabbed an iPhone, put it to the face of her sleeping daddy, unlocked it, and then she bought something online. And she's only 5 years old.

Good point.
Note Air 2 and Note 3 are coming! :)
Deep Guide Voya was telling that the fonts are not crisp in Note 3 and the distance between the pen and the glass is bigger in Note 3. Is it correct?
There is a rotation of screen in note air so you can use it how you want

Hi did you end up making the video about how to disable the tablets from phoning home to China?
Like Cobey mentioned rotation to hold by left hand, the same thing goes for charging cable issue. And the Air has auto-rotate detections, which makes these two points seem a bit unfair I guess. Liked this video anyhow, keep up the great work CPO!
Fair point.

What did you choose? Note Air is amazing, amd there will be Note Air 2 :)

Way better on the Note3 for the reasons I outlined in the video. Software is the same, so weight, hand feel, etc are the differences.

This wasn’t a review. It was why I prefer one over the other. It wasn’t a spec for spec comparison between the two. Your expectations were misplaced.

Well, it's NOT better just for the simple fact that it has a stupid glossy finish whereas Air have matte.
And not a word on backlight? Meh

Only reason I down voted, you don't talk anything regarding specs and performance, and that's significantly more important than aesthetics.
Pretty sure he has several videos on these where he goes through every spec and performs performance test. In case ur looking for that.
