      May I ask how you sync it? Does it have a built in app that allows it comfortably, or is there a better option in Play Store? I recently discovered E-ink notepads and I'm in love with the concept, but I definitely want a device that allows me to sync as seamlessly as possible, since simplicity is the main reason for my interest in the concept.

    People need to make up their minds on what they want. They either want it with all the features of a tablet or they want a less distraction device that doesn’t allow them to download things that end up distracting them.

    The entire point of the remarkable is to get rid of distractions and allow you to focus on what you're working on. No app store, no videos, nothing but you and your creativity. Which is why it's the best product of its kind. Should they implement new features, sure, I'm a screenwriter and would love to see something that supports script formats such as final draft. Or perhaps make their own ui for it. But if they add "distractive" content, they'll lose a lot of their supporters I feel.

    Thanks for your insightful review. Tho am saddened no backlight for low light/dark. And the other is no tilt for sketching and shading. Tho do wonder if that is a hardware? or can be added in software down the line in an update?
    Thanks again for insightful compare video. I have a 12.9" M1 iPad Pro & Pencil but isn't my 1st choice for hauling around for sketching and note-taking or reading except for Magazines and Comics is my goto. But wanting lighter smaller sketch pad and note-taking and e-reading novels device that I can slip into a bag.

    I have both with me atm. I was thinking of returning remarkable because of the high cost and lack of features.
    But Boox Go 10.3 seems to be darker in general compared to remarkable. The 300 ppi doesn't make much of a difference to the naked eye. And Boox feels more like using an old samsung with a 1000 features 999 of which are useless, while remarkable feels like using an iphone back in the day. They know what they are doing and have done it precisely

    My rm2 got stolen and Im pondering whether to get it again or go for the boox. I feel like rm let hand writers down immensely by not adding or improving any relevant features, but instead pushing the keyboard and typing. I cannot support that, as I will never use it for typing at all. The amount of features in the boox notes app is immense and this draws me to it. I do fear that Android 12 may eventually be outdated though.

    The Real question about the Booxs e-readers is How long will Android 12 be supported because just like it is an Android tablet there's things like security updates and so on that will be dropped, and since we're about to be on Android 15 This worries me for such an expensive device

    • @annvoy7698
      @annvoy7698 6 днів тому

      I would never put sensitive data on it or use it for sensitive browsing, so for example no online banking, chatting, or any client data. Thus I don't really care how old the Android version is. For apps, I don't really want other Android apps on it apart from some reading apps. I have far more issues with Boox not offering any software updates after 3 years so my Note Air, which I got 4 years ago, had its last update in December '23 with 3.5, though the device is still going strong. That's what I love about Supernote: the Android version doesn't matter, but the A5X will get software updates for a much longer time than 3 years.
      Now I'm torn, because I would love to have 300 ppi, though I have been fine so far. The Go 10.3 is very tempting, as I love the design, but I need lights. So I'll wait and see what the Note Air 4 is going to bring to the table.

    Onyx is trying to be a black and white ipad...no thanks. The whole point of these units is to give a simpler diverted road to writing and notes. Not to become a iPad. It's e ink...no matter what OS you put on it ..it will lag...and the more complicated things it does the more it will lag. I'm sorry ...the whole point of the Remarkebale 2 is get me away from distraction... not give them back in a lagging black and white tablet device.

    • @yannpoco
      @yannpoco 16 днів тому +7

      Boox can do everything reMarkable does and better with 300 ppi. You already mentioned that E-ink has lag, so you can't enjoy UA-cam and games, thus no distractions. It is a way powerful and thinner e-ink tablet. Plus there are many e-book and news paper applications that work on Boox, you can install any dictionary that you want. reMarkable is over.

      I think that the fact that he speaks about video gaming or other stupid stuff, that no one actually uses, makes you think that but it's absolutely not an Ipad and it does not intend to be. Why the hell would someone use an eink tablet for that?? It's for note taking and reading. Period. But with more versatility than Remarkable.

    Great review (and love the energy!) but the Go is really just a great Google tablet with a shitty screen. Remarkable is electronic paper. Exactly what I need in meetings and on the go. For the rest, I use an ipad pro with Good notes. So I think this comparison is not apples vs apples, thus not fair IMHO

    Honestly I think the remarkable is still superior if you want a distraction free note taking device. Also software updates and battery life are a lot better. Though I do hope they'll at least open up sharing options in the future and they should make one with a higher resolution screen. (and keep the same dimensions so the keyboard case continues to work)

      All you need to do is turn off notifications for anything that you may download That's it It's very simple. However the booxs tablets run on Android 12 which is going to be outdated and not secured within some time from now since we're going to be Android 15 soon. And for a new device I don't want to pay that much money for something that's going to be outdated so quickly

  • @larklandmorley

    Your video kind of tells me why the remarkable wins in terms of basic note taking and focus work. As an Ipad user, I get all the other apps on that tablet, so I do not need the eink for that. The only thing missing for me at the moment would be Kindle or other reading app. However, I do think the Boox Go 10.3 is a good move by Boox to get back to the basics of note taking and productivity versus just making e-ink tablets. Btw, you can use the remarkable app on your phone to take voice notes (Transcripts), copy over text and so forth, so definitely does the job still..
    I am an engineer as well, so I can see the temptation to want a jack of all trades device. However, people have actually been happy with a single purpose kindle reader for years. Same thing with paper note books, those are still selling well. I think most users just want to get to the point of the task at hand with simplicity.

    • @bocarsall3797
      @bocarsall3797 16 днів тому

      I agree with you. His video is misleading in a sense that he gives very bad examples of what you can actually do with the fact that the Go is an Android tablet (gaming, video LOL). It's just a reading and note taking device with more versatility than the Remarkable. So you can read from Kindle or Kobo or Play Books or Newspapers or any reading apps. But I can't imagine a decent human being using eink for videos let's be serious.
