    Been watching your videos for the past 2 and a half years learning how to golf again the right way. I went from left to right-handed ditching all the bad habits I had while I was a lefty and have been able to shoot way lower rounds and enjoy the game much more. I've slowly put together a pretty good set of clubs these past few years and also got all 5 of my kids into golf while doing so. Love all your videos but especially the teaching and tips ones. I'd like to say thank you I the most sincere way that I can't describe on a post. You've help me enjoy a game that I love and also bring my family closer together at the same time. Thank you.

    Physician, heal thyself. ;-)
    Nice to see you putting out some instructional vids again, this is great content expressed very clearly and simply. Wasn't that long ago that this seemed to be the focus of the channel, instead of "watch Rick play XXX course, over 7400 yards at this fabulous locale, and try to break 75 while accompanied by a previous major winner". Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE that content as well. But shorter vids like this have got to be way easier to produce, way easier on your mental well-being, and will definitely do more in terms of "game improvement" for your viewers.
    So maybe next time you start off a Break 75 and you're +3 after two holes, just relax a bit and focus on aim, clubface, and path. :-)

    On tip two, use spine angle as a good checkmark of being square throughout the backswing. Justin Thomas would do this in his pre shot routine to be in a proper P-2 position, and this is what Rick is saying in the video

    In my pre-shot I'll intentionally aim too far right, waggle, then aim too far left, waggle. So, in the middle of those two extremes, I set-up and go.
    It works well near the pin as you can use the pin as your left or right aim point depending on the break.
    Similar to your 1 or 11 o'clock, with 12 being dead straight.

    For me it’s usually always grip. Grip influences my club face direction the most out of any tip. It I hit it right I know I’m too loose with the grip, it I pull it left I know I’m way to stiff and my hands are turning over. Best tip that was given to me personally, my score dropped significantly after learning how much grip influences the direction.

    Serious question,
    I want your thoughts on why a pro ( yourself ) can hit mint shots like this video but have horrendous rounds?? I understand the common reasons, mindset, body issues, conditions etc but if you can produce these shots on the range repeatedly then I wonder why you have rounds in the high 80’ 90’s?

    • @00Phat12345
      @00Phat12345 3 місяці тому +1

      He doesn’t repeatedly have rounds in 90’s, that’s nonsense. His last video was a 73. He will have had some bad rounds which end up in the 80’s but he’s been playing some of the toughest courses from the tips these last 6 months or so. If he were to play generic uk courses on a decent day, distance of course being between 5500-6300 yards, he’d shoot in the 70’s more often than not. He’s not amazing (doesn’t claim to be) but he’s pretty good. There are a lot of players at my club and loads other clubs and whose handicaps are between 0 and 4, who are pretty good (yet have some horrendous shots and rounds on occasions) and he’d fall within that category very easily . Think a lot of golfers and golf fans are so out of touch with what the concept of a ‘scratch golfer’ is or what’s required to play to that level

    • @kasper1241

      Rick got basic errors in his swing. He gets stuck on the inside and flips his hands through impact. He can hit good shots but it will never be consistent. And he's simply not able to apply his instructions to his own game. His swing path and club head control is horrendous to be honest. And then there are the issues with his short game of course.

  • @Lamster66

    Dunno what it is with Rick.
    He has a good looking swing, can drive 280 yards, knock it to 10-15 feet from 120 yards out, and can drain a few long putts. But never seems to put all those elements together on the same day.
    What gets me more as a person new to the game is that unlike me, Rick actually knows how to hit good shots and what causes bad shots. If I hit a bad shot I don't always know why, and thus repeat the mistake until I learn how to correct it. where as Rick knows why and then does the same thing again on the next hole.

    • @kasper1241
      @kasper1241 3 місяці тому

      Rick got basic errors in his swing. He gets stuck on the inside and flips his hands through impact. You'll never get consistent golf with that. He's simply not able to apply his instructions to his own game.
