Except for the fact that he was wrong on two points. The batteries are not in the stems. The stems house the microphones and force touch sensors. They have circle/disc batteries that are in the ear cuffs. Second, Apple doesn’t replace the batteries in the AirPod pros. If you pay for the battery replacement program what they’re actually providing you with is a remanufactured replacement pair of AirPods Pro with reconditioned/refurbished parts but with brand new batteries.
I have another theory I observed: when you’re calling someone, the AirPod using the microphone usually is only the first one you’ve put in your ear. I have noticed this so many times that I am almost sure that’s how it works. I really thought it would use both microphones but maybe it’s just a way of using less battery on the ear buds and the phone, and is also simpler.
1:26 Correction, only the 1st and 2nd generation AirPods have batteries are located in the stem, while the AirPods Pro and 3rd generation AirPods are located inside the head, they use a kind of rechargeable button cell batteries.
Correction, the option with Siri does not have anything to do with voice or batterie. This option does only change what happens while holding the button.
This. There is a separate setting for which microphone to use somewhere else, but that one is on ‘automatic’ by default. I do think that the Siri activation phrase are processed on the Airpods themselves, so that they don’t have to stream continuously to the phone, on the same way as it works on iPhones, iPads and Macbooks. That consumes almost nothing.
@@patrick71994 so, the option he shows is not for the microphone, this changes the behaviour of press and hold on one airpod, this does not affect Batterie. The Microphone way is more battery saving if set to one in Particular because the AirPods don’t need to test if a voice is on one AirPod and another. The Siri activation is processed on the AirPods through the H-Chip
The UX for battery management with AirPods is disastrously on par with the USB charging port on the Magic Mouse. The experience is terrible. Because of the contact issue described in this video, you're never truly sure that both AirPods have made contact and are charging without opening your phone and looking for the charging popup or the battery widget. Theoretically the light flashes on the front of the case when you insert an AirPod, but I've found this to be unreliable. Too many times have I put on my AirPods to find that one is completely drained. Also, there's no way to check the battery level of your case without taking the AirPods out and putting them on! I love the AirPods, but these shenanigans are making me reconsider what's next when it's time to retire my current ones.
This is why I like what OnePlus did with their OnePlus Buds Pro. The contacts are right there on top easily accessible with just your finger, no need to find something to stick down in the case when your earbuds refuse to charge while you're out and about
This is actually something I’ve actually wondered but it’s generally so rare I hit the end of my AirPod’s battery unless I’m on a transcontinental flight or a very very long bike ride
I always have problems with the LEFT Air pod, quite often it will occasionally go flat despite cleaning the contacts. I also have to put the LEFT one in my ear first and wait for the connection chime before I add the RIGHT ear one. I sometimes have to put the air pod back into the case if I hear no connection chime , trying again usually works. However if I fit the RIGHT one first then only it will work the LEFT one will remain silent.
@@missb9719 I never did. It's still a problem. They were fine the first few months I had them and then they started having the problem described above. Cleaning the contacts does help a bit. I'm already on my second pair after the first set stopped working for more than a few seconds.
1. you can’t replace airpods batteries because they’re glued together, you have to get a whole new one. and 2. that setting for siri in the iphone settings only changes what the noise control button does which doesn’t affect both airpods listening for “hey siri” it just triggers siri with the button itself
I bought the 1st gen AirPods in 2017, but I barely used them. They spent all the time in the case, and now they're unusable because they die after 5 minutes, and the charging indicators are all over the place. I suspect a lot of people are in the same situation.
My problem is with the left pod. It shows both left and right will be at 100% but every time my left will die with about 5 min at most of usage. Will take to the store to see if they can change the battery in the left pod.
I tend to use one pod at a time mostly especially when I want more battery life - media playback overall. When one dies I use the other while it’s charging. Despite that even when using them both, they still discharge at the same rate with maybe a 3-5% difference. Also since when did Apple start doing AirPod repairs? I thought they just gave u a new one?
You lucked out. With chemical batteries (like batteries in your car, phone, airpods) there is always a chance factor. I dont think that setting one AirPod to activate Siri has any real effect on its battery life (as stated in 0:45). With this setting one just chooses which AirPod activates Siri when being pressed, not which microphone will be in use for Siri, „Hey Siri“ or anything else. In fact, there’s a different setting that controls which microphone shall be used for calling etc - and that setting propably has an effect on battery life.

These are an improvement over the 1st gen buds. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxK5mc3yw4xA7Mf2j6k6n1Uqv_KUgrKdeM Pros: The fit is fantastic. This is the biggest plus. They stay in my ears when running and become unnoticeable. They are tight but comfortable. The sound quality is about the same as the 1st gen buds. They pair more easily with my LG G8 ThinQ and immediately reconnect when removed from the case. The sound balance is excellent, good but not overpowering base and clean mid tones and highs.Cons: The noise cancellation is good but perhaps a little less effective than the Bose ANC on the 1st gen buds. Passthrough mode as not as good as the 1st gen buds making it a little more difficult to hear conversations when in passthrough.
Ok I've googled and looked and looked. No one addresses this. So I've had 5 or 6 pairs of wireless earbuds. They all came with the ear hooks so left or right is fixed. Everyone of them when they wore out. It was the left earbud. Always the left. Why? I have 3 pair that the right earbud still lasts for hours but the left buds won't hold a charge for more than an hour. One left won't charge more than 80% and that only lasts an hour or so. So I know batteries wear out and earbuds don't last forever but why is it always the left side? Is there a reason or did I just get lucky 6 times? All were different brands and prices.
Cleaning doesn’t seem to help mine and I’ve also found that mine will randomly connect to my phone while still in the charging case. I disconnect and they will connect again 🤦🏽♂️

This literally just happened to me and now UA-cam’s recommending this video… Whoa
Since the 16.0 update, mine says they’re out of the case on the FindMy app
Where can you pay apple to replace the batteries?
I’ve got an iPhone 12 Pro - is there really any point in upgrading to iPhone 15?
This also happens when case battery dies so case stars charging from airpods to keep alive.
I have that issue, but with the charger case…
Maybe a good idea to make a video about the AirPods ANC update from Apple that made the noice canceling useless....
I check to make sure the light flashes as I put my airpods back in the charger, it indicates that airpods are charging
WHAT WHY DOES YOUR VOICE SOUND SO DEEP I DON’T LIKE THIS AAAAHHHHH
Cleaning doesn’t seem to help mine and I’ve also found that mine will randomly connect to my phone while still in the charging case. I disconnect and they will connect again 🤦🏽♂️
anyone else noticed how in the animation he just used the mirror image of the right airpod for the left one
This AirPods issue keeps ticking me off… i love everything about my AirPods except for this battery crap T-T. I replaced the batteries in a battery shop and after a while the problem came back wtff 😢😢😢 what to do?? Helpp
