Is Kliff Kingsbury a good fit for the Cardinals?
If they plan on drafting another QB in the next 3 years you would have to say this is your guy, he recognizes talent in the weeds. A loosing coach at a 2nd tear program does not get first pick with high school QBs, but he found them, he could draft a QB in the 2nd round as 'backup' who ends up being the team's long term starter. He probably needed a year working with a good NFL coach like LA to improve his chances of success. I think he will have Rosen averaging 40 or 50 throws a game and I doubt it will work out any better than pass happy Tech, his only hope is the 2nd round pick at QB the team allows him to make to fill in as backup and an insurance policy.

As an Arizona native and a Die hard Arizona sports fan, People who dont live in the state and follow the sports media in Arizona you guys have no idea how much a hire likes this means to the organization and Arizona in general. This is something fresh and something new and this is EXACTLY what the cardinals need. I wont be able to change people minds before this guy gets on the field and we see what this new Arizona team has to offer. Give the guy a chance, Coach Wilks took the Cardinals a step back and with all due respect I like the man and what he stands for but he was not what the Cardinals needed. If you want to compare college records and deem a guy unfit for a NFL head coach position go right ahead its tough to change peoples mind about that. Also last time I checked Texas tech wasn't too hot of a school to play football at, looking at the records from the last 20 seasons of Texas Tech football at face value including the seasons that Kliff was NOT the head coach the records are pretty medicore comprising of mostly 8-9 win seasons. All I am trying to say is don't form an opinion of a guy before you get to see the work he does in his CURRENT position.

Ik doesnt prove much for him to be qulaified to be head coach or better than Lafuer. He could be like a Mcvay, seasons to early to tell, just like its to early to tell on Lafuer and at least people know of his credentials in the NFL and led the titans almost into the post season with less on offense. Bruh Texas tech doesn't get the recruits like other Texas teams. outside of mahomes recruits typically go to UT, A&M, TCU, Baylor first.

He is still not qualified to be an NFL head coach. He went 5-7 with Mahomes as his qb. If Texas Tech was in the top 5 every year and won a national championship or two then I would get it. But he only had two winning seasons. They might as well kept the guy they fired.
You may want to look at Oklahoma's roster, we've been stealing them from Texas for decades. In the Switzer era they referred to us as the University of Texas from Oklahoma. Some years as much as 80% of our roster is Texas kids. Football is huge in Texas and our close location allows OU to have success in snatching them away from schools like Texas Tech.

Arizona has talent to compete in the playoffs but they don't use the talent correctly.
I honestly believe if Patrick Peterson resigns with Cards it will hurt his career. Wilks's defense didn't fit P2. Wilks ran a lot of zone coverages. P2 is more of a man coverage corner.
I guess we will see how this season goes. My bet is they fire him after the 1 season like they did Wilks.

Cornflack defensive coaches don’t work in today’s league if they don’t have an elite quarterback. Anthony Lynn has turned out to be a great coach because he’s an OFFENSIVE coach. Most black coaches are defensive coaches who get hired without a franchise qb.

As a Cardinals fan, I like the hire. Steve Wilks was a defensive coach and they were looking to develop Josh Rosen under an offensive mind, our defense this year couldn’t stop anybody so why keep a guy if our whole team took a major step back from the winning culture left by Arians. Second year QBs have excelled recently under a offensive head coach (Goff, Mahomes, Trubisky) so I’m excited to see how Rosen does and if Kliff can bring life back to the team
Kat Williams Sean McVay is in the nfc championship, has been a head coach for 2 years and nobody knows how to stop his offense. Miss me with that week 6 nonsense, if that was the case offenses wouldn’t put up more than 20 points. If you’re telling me for a second that the cardinals would do better under wilks who runs a 4-3 (our players are better suited for a 3-4) then a young creative play caller with a young quarterback that has a lot of potential, I think you’re the idiot
Kat Williams you realize that so many effective offenses are college based right? How can we go 8-8, keep the same roster for the most part but go 3-13 the next year under a new scheme. Kat Williams you forgot about the best corner in football, Patrick Peterson. QBs don’t even dare to throw it to him that’s an impact on every team every week. If we can get a solid #2 corner, combined with the pass rush of Jones and Bosa, that’s a scary defense.
Kat Williams how can you be better than not even being thrown at, he’s that good. Nobody better than him in the last 4 years. Again if they don’t throw it to you that’s when you know you’re the best. Kliff has been in an NFL locker room, he’s played QB at this level. And no wrs? Larry legend? Christian Kirk who looked very good in a poor offense, he’s gonna have a great year. We need free agent offensive lineman, another solid receiver, and a number 2 corner and this team is gonna take off. When we went to the nfc championship 3 years ago what did we have? Good running, 3 good receivers, an offensive line and a top 5 defense that had almost all of the players we have now minus Tyrann Mathieu and Calais Campbell. Watch how good this defense is next year back under an attacking 3-4. And you believe in coaching over players? That’s why we went 3-13, bad coaching. Why keep a coach who gave us the worst season we’ve ever had in the 30 years the team has been in Arizona. We were never prepared, honestly it’s a miracle we didn’t go 1-15. You don’t understand the cardinals from the inside like I do, from the outside of course you can say we have no good players we went 3-13, but the reality is we had all pro players who weren’t being schemed correctly. That’s why this season was so disappointing

You don’t live here, you’ve never been a fan and it’s a 3-13 team that didn’t get much recognition obviously. The fact you said top 10 for pat p was the most disrespectful thing you’ve said yet. That guy is 8/8 on years in the league and pro bowls. Jalen and bouye had 1 stellar year but fell off this year, they were getting diced up. Patrick’s been doing it consistently for 8 years. He’s the best and it’s not even biased he just doesn’t get the credit cause he doesn’t get as many interceptions, but it’s kinda hard to get a pic if they don’t throw it to you cause anybody you cover is pretty much erased out of the play. And so what Larry’s old, he can still put up 100 catches 1000 yards easy. He did every year with Palmer. Just needs a good scheme and Rosen to deliver. Kirk is gonna have a breakout season I think, if we get our old RBs coach back which he’s considering it I think DJ will put up a monster year assuming he’s used right. And a sophomore QB doesn’t matter, that’s the point of my comment in the first place. He’s going to improve no question, look at Jared Goff and Patrick Mahomes how good they were as 2nd year QBs, Goff had a great 3rd year too. Rookies can even tear it up like Baker Mayfield. So it doesn’t matter how young you are just need a good system and a supporting cast which I believe we now have. Excited for free agency we have a good chunk of cap to spend

After today's interview with Bidwell I just think Wilks and management didn't get along, both he and Keim took subtle and not so subtle shots at Wilks. Granted I don't know where they have any room to talk, they hired him plus Keim has done a poor job the last three years as we still don't have a good offensive line, still no decent corner opposite Peteson, no depth at wide receiver, while Bidwell and Keim complained about Wilks not using the 3-4 defense. Not sure how a 3-4 defense would have helped when you have receivers who can't get open and a line that can't pass or run block. I would hope they would show a little more humility but not so much today.
He also traded away his 2 best players Cooper & Mack. Who ended up on playoff teams.

I know that college is different but he didn’t win anything of note. Not a good hire if you ask me. Hopefully he’ll prove people wrong but I doubt it.
I grew up in Lubbock and have been a Tech fan all my life and I’ll say a lot of the reason for his failure at Tech wasn’t his coaching. It’s really hard to pick up good recruits at Tech and it always has been. It’s out in the middle of no where and the closest big city is Dallas which is a good 5 hour drive away. Just imagine how far Houston or San Antonio are. Texas is a massive state and there are so many schools and opportunities for these kids to stay close to their parents and play at major programs. Tech picks up the leftovers.
With that being said, Kingsbury would had won more games there if he had better talent to coach. Without having to recruit, that pretty much solves that problem. Also, he had 3 starting QB’s this year because of injuries. He was great as a offensive coordinator for Tech, Houston and even A&M and knows how to bring the best out of a quarterback. If anyone can turn Rosen around, it’ll be him.

It could have been that he really sold himself, his plans for Cardinals, etc. I could see how a person with the right preparation could close that deal, regardless of his past accomplishments. Lots of teams fired their head coach this year, its a seller market. Cardinals GM just wanted to get this process over with. That program is in total rebuild mode, so expect nothing for 3 yrs anyway.

As a Cardinals fan I don't get it either. I listened to Bidwell's justification and I'm still not sold as yes he's a great offensive mind but as so many have said you have to lead men. I'm also not sold on the idea of "You have to get a great offensive mind as your head coach" because in college there is this guy called Nick Saban who is about defense and has won 6 national titles and in the pros there is this guy named Bill Belicheck who is a defensive guy and has won 5 Super Bowls and has had explosive offenses and yes he has Tom Brady but Belicheck doesn't stand in the way of letting Brady and the offense go. It's typical of NFL owners, going with the fad and not necessarily the best leader. I hope Kingsbury works out, I really do but unlike a lot of the sports media here in Arizona, I'm not deluding myself that this is a great outside the box hire, I just hope it turns into one.
The interesting thing about the NFL is, most college coaches don’t do well in the NFL. There isn’t necessarily a correlation at all. I get what their saying, but it’s not perfect rationale.
