Please how is the sound like? As compared with your old unit? Is it ok for you to send me link to get 1 for my 2013 ford c-max 5 seater? Tnks And hoping to hear from you.
I have it all connected, but the unit will not power on. There is no instructions for the “protocol box”, which I think they also call canbus. There is a 20 pin outlet on the box, and a 20 pin connector, but that didn’t work. The email I received this morning from China has a simple diagram that looks like the 16 pin connector should go into the 20 pin outlet on the black box. Any help would be great! Thanks!
Make sure all of the connections are made through the dash. If you have everything properly connected, the steering wheel controllers should work without a problem.
Hello all. I have received many technical questions/concerns about this product and how to get it to work for various people. Unfortunately, I do not have all of the answers, but I do have some suggestions. If there is something that is not working out for you, please remember that the seller has a 30 day return policy so if you need to return the item, you can. Another option is to contact Amazon and they may have some suggestions on how to make the head unit work, or will be able to put you in touch with some technical help so you do not have to bother with returning the product. I am still very happy with my new head unit, and I hope that you can enjoy the same features that I do with this item. All the best, but I just wanted to know that some inquiries may be beyond my level of expertise. I want everyone to have the help they deserve and to be as satisfied as possible. All the best, and I am interested to know how the customer service handles your questions. Thank you and good luck!
@@jamiemartz3234I just did this for my wife's car. For steering wheel controls and radio buttons. Go to Settings > Factory Settings > enter in the code 1234 and hit ok > go to CAN Settings > enter in the make, model, and year. if it only gives you one year option select it (even if it's not your cars exact year) > enter the CFG in (I set mime to LOW) > Enter in the protocol (it only gave me the option RISE) > save the Settings and let it reboot. This should let your steering wheel and radio push buttons and dial work for audio control and other things.

The 4 GB is actually $20 more so I was confused thinking maybe the 4 GB has more options on it than the 6 GB wondering if someone could help answer this question that purchased one of these already researching their choice
I have the 6gb. It works great and seems fast. There is no reason for the difference in prices other than supply and demand I would bet. 4gb Im sure works too, but it technically would be a bit slower.
Actually, it just took a few seconds for the screen to wake up. After that, it took about a minute for it to cycle through the "Android" screen, then the home screen came on. Did you install it in a Ford Escape? Just make sure that all of the connectors are secure. I would also go back in and disconnect then RECONNECT the top most connection which is power for the display. I hope this helps.

Here's a link. amzn.to/3JU79y5 Good luck!
@mattsworlddiy - Great Videos to provide overview. I am returning a similar version bought on Amazon - just confused with which to get 2+x or 4+x? - I have a 2014 Ford Escape SE as well. Appreciate the advice
Few things left out of the video, 1. there is a small black box that needs to be connected in order for the display to work. Match up the cable with the connection to the black box. It took me a while to figure this out. 2. If using the orange trim tool DO NOT pull up when losing the panels. Instead, slightly turn the trim either clockwise or counter close wise this lifts it up with breaking any pieces. 3. Wehn putting the new stereo in you can move the two thick cables to the right under the side metal bracket next to the a/c vent to get the stereo in place (also took a while to figure this out). 4. Lastly if your camera does not come on and it's a plug and play camera. go into the stereo settings and select backup and when it displays the settings select the first one. camera should come on. Hope this helps otherwise the stereo works well with Apple and Android.

There are two USB plugs that are plugged into the line of ports (See video at 4:43). I decided not to use them, but that is something that you can decide if you want them. I hope this helps. If you decide to use them, you could feed the line down into the glove box if you desire. Good luck!
You forgot to mention that you need to run the existing wires through the rightmost hole above where the orginal one was and pull it up and to the side of the new radio in order to get the wires to the back to install it. You show it, but don't refer to it. Also, it looks like you used the backup camera that came with the unit, not the original. Any reason why?
I actually. had to figure that one out myself. When you connect your iphone to the unit, go through the menu and look for the icon with "CP" on it. That stands for "Car Play". It is not apparently clear that this is what it stands for, but once you select "CP" then you can access your phone. I hope this helps, and best of luck!
@@hollyschiffler4847 The device is an android device but there is a carplay function as Matt stated. Its labeled CP and once you activate it you need to attempt to connect to your phone. I went to the bluetooth settings under settings on the head unit, paired my phone, restarted the head unit, and then went to CP and I had carplay working fine.
is there a difference between the 32G and 64G what does that mean? is that storage? Thanks for the video! Also how is the call quality? Does the Mic work?
@mattsworlddiy, thanks for the video. Very informative. One question: did you disconnect your battery to ensure the power was all the way off? That seems like the right move to me but I'm not sure.
Excellent question Ben. Yes, to avoid shock or blowing any fuses, it is a very good idea to disconnect the battery before getting started with this project. Thanks for the comment as I would recommend the disconnection. Prior to installation!
I actually didn't and everything turned out fine. Just made sure the vehicle was off and the radio wasn't on. Obviously people should probably unplug the battery but it is a pain in this car.
Edit: I did it today… kinda stressful but I did it and worked really fine. I got scared cause after got installed my car died and I need it to make a jump, dunno if this has something to do with the installation, but I believe so. I also didn’t install the rear camera cause my car has no camera at all, so I’ll keep the camera that came with and will do it later when I learn how to install. Really good decide, came with all of needed items, and if you have all theses screwdrivers go ahead, you can do it
Interesting. I am really not sure. My GUESS, would be that it should be fine, but I am not sure if there are amperage differences, etc that may impact electrical systems. I hope this helps and good luck!
Hey Mat I hope you are doing great, thank you too much cause ı ordered that product and will arrive in 2 days and ıt will be great gift to my wife for Mothers day. I am grateful to you for your lights about upgrade ...
Hey thanks. Yes, I found that the wireless carplay can be a little slow to initiate, but if I connect the USB's to use it "wired" the initial response is much faster. Other than that, I am quite satisfied with the performance. Having the updated features that my original unit did not have makes it feel like an entirely new car. My favorite thing is being able to connect to the WAZE app on my phone for navigation. No longer do I need to use my phone when navigating. Thanks for the comment!
Hey bro, excellent video and I definitely subscribed for the future. One question I have is - I am currently driving a 2015 Escape SE 1.6 Eco - is that the same model shown in the video? I am very much thinking about changing out my head unit due to the small screen, and this might be the best tutorial and example I’ve ever seen. Thanks for the content!

Interesting. If you are positive that all connections are solid and made correctly, You may want to contact the vendor. I know it's a pain, but maybe you have a faulty unit. The only other thing I can imagine is that I would check all fuses as well. Best of luck!
Thanks Matt! Next question where should I buy or even find for my 2014 Escape? I’m ready to buy but my current head unit says SONY & your control panel is different from mine. I’d love to give the Amazon tip $ but…. Also, loved your engine air filter replacement video. I’ll be doing that first 😊. Look forward to more videos
I was disappointed that tabs on the replacement top plate were broken upon receipt. The biggest disappointment is that the unit does not work with the factory back-up camera and you have to use a camera that they do include. This video led me to believe it would work with the factory camera. It does not. Now I have to install the new camera and run the wiring which I specifically did not want to do.
@@Canonas.1 Nope. Last word from the factory was to use the camera provided with the new radio. I’m a bit po’ed about that. Before I resort to installing the new camera, I’m going to try and determine what the factory wires are for it and just see if I can splice them in. I do not want to have to run new cable from behind the new radio all the way back to the rear hatch. But if I do, I’ll be looking for a UA-cam video for that.
I installed it in a 2013 Ford Escape, works perfectly. 7mm socket, T25s. Reposition the wiring harness first referring to where the screen slots in. @@JoanneRuane I would buy the 6gb model. There is no difference in features as far as I can tell. The back has the same number of ports and stuff as in the video, its just offset differently. There is only one way each cord can go in though, so you shouldn't have any issues.
@@mauryoung it’s just another option on the link in his description. If it doesn’t show up, I’d assume they’ll probably show up again soon! 4gb ram models are plenty though. I just opted for 6 just because it’s a little quicker.

Exactly the same with me . Everything installed correctly and the unit is dead
Same with me. The second unit has the same issue it could be a fuse im trying to check on that

What can i do to control from the steering wheel
@@jamiemartz3234I just did this for my wife's car.
For steering wheel controls and radio buttons.
Go to Settings > Factory Settings > enter in the code 1234 and hit ok > go to CAN Settings > enter in the make, model, and year. if it only gives you one year option select it (even if it's not your cars exact year) > enter the CFG in (I set mime to LOW) > Enter in the protocol (it only gave me the option RISE) > save the Settings and let it reboot.
This should let your steering wheel and radio push buttons and dial work for audio control and other things.

I have the 6gb. It works great and seems fast. There is no reason for the difference in prices other than supply and demand I would bet. 4gb Im sure works too, but it technically would be a bit slower.

Hi Matt, I bought the same product. But mine was not on after I ignited my car. Did you wait for a few minutes for the screen to wake up?
Actually, it just took a few seconds for the screen to wake up. After that, it took about a minute for it to cycle through the "Android" screen, then the home screen came on. Did you install it in a Ford Escape? Just make sure that all of the connectors are secure. I would also go back in and disconnect then RECONNECT the top most connection which is power for the display. I hope this helps.

Having the same problem with backup camera connection. Was Fuzzy now “No Signal”. For Ford Kuga 2013 / C7135 - Brand is OiLiehu from Liehuzhekeji Co,. LTD - installing 01NOV24
But how to install back up camera ?
Great video ! Thanks for sharing!! My question is how or where do I plug the usb ? Thanks again!

Mine is install and it is all android, I saw in the video it ended up Apple. Please tell me what we did wrong.
I actually. had to figure that one out myself. When you connect your iphone to the unit, go through the menu and look for the icon with "CP" on it. That stands for "Car Play". It is not apparently clear that this is what it stands for, but once you select "CP" then you can access your phone. I hope this helps, and best of luck!
I connected my phone through Bluetooth but can’t connect to car play. What am I missing? Still all android.

Hey thanks. Yes, I found that the wireless carplay can be a little slow to initiate, but if I connect the USB's to use it "wired" the initial response is much faster. Other than that, I am quite satisfied with the performance. Having the updated features that my original unit did not have makes it feel like an entirely new car. You didn’t tell about camera howa to install it
I was disappointed that tabs on the replacement top plate were broken upon receipt. The biggest disappointment is that the unit does not work with the factory back-up camera and you have to use a camera that they do include. This video led me to believe it would work with the factory camera. It does not. Now I have to install the new camera and run the wiring which I specifically did not want to do.
Same. Did you figure out anything
@@Canonas.1
Nope.
