This is incredible. So glad I stumbled upon this I’ve been wanting CarPlay for so long and didn’t want to spend the $600 or whatever to completely do a head unit swap. This is so much simpler and obviously cheaper
Just a heads up to anyone installing this. If you follow the directions it’s going to tell you to get the sound from your CarPlay to select AV Input on your sync stereo. In my case the audio quality on AV was horrible. All you need to do is go to the setup screen then system. Turn on Use Cars BT Channel, and now the CarPlay audio will play through your phones regular BT connection to SYNC.
Great tip I played with the audio levels in settings and got the line in sound dialed in The biggest problem is the dual equalizer. You need to switch one of the two to flat profile.
Hi, any chance you talk me through this . I have mine installed but couldn't connect the aux in as my sync 2 for whatever reason is not equipped with one so at the minute I'm not getting any sound through when using AA . Where do you find a setting to tell the unit to use cars BT instead of line in / aux in ? Many thanks!

@@filipeat_work6350 I'm happy with it. Sometimes it can get "confused" whether to connect to BT audio or CP audio, but it's easy to work through. Considering the unit was just over $200 (new), but even a used Sync3 adapter conversion is about $800. I can deal with the inconvenience of the audio selection.
They sell it on eBay sync 2 to 3 it comes with the screen, module, navigation, GPS antenna, new USB hub and its programmed to the cars VIN. Its way simpler than the two options he is offering.

If you are streaming spotify or using the navigation in android auto and switch back to the factory sync 2 system to turn on the heated steering wheel or something like that does it cut the music or your navigation? Or could you still hear it playing while in the factory sync 2. Also I was curious if you found a setting to get it to start in android auto automatically like you had mentioned in your video. And thank you for the vid it was very helpful.

Does the heated steering wheel still work? I can't seem to find info on it besides that the steering wheel controls still work. Can i also control the footwell and accesnt lights in the truck and all the other stuff? Actually, looks like this is just a piggyback on the existing system. Probably the best way to do it. The holding right just switches the video input it seems. I like this method because it means I get to use the original software that I know is stable and have additional functionality

This is cheaper than converting to Sync 3, but then you're stuck with the s l o w Sync 2 system. I'm doing the Sync 3 conversion on my Focus as soon as all the parts arrive. My nephew gets my old unit for his non-navigation Sync 2 Focus. (Mine has nav.)

hold the right skip button on the steering wheel to toggle back and forth. They have great tech support as well, so you can always reach out to them directly.
Ive installed this junk 3 times on my edge 2014. Support is bs. Never gets power to my screen. Reinstall original always works. I've modified the daughter board, made sure contact is made, used 3 screws and still no screen. Thanks for any help.
Is there any way this device could be draining battery? Used this video to install in my daughter’s 2014 Fprd Escape and battery was drained when I was done. Charged battery and car started yesterday but this morning it’s dead again. It’s a used car could be weak battery guy seems weird we would only have this issue after installing this
Best way to diagnose is to have an a meter on the battery and pull radio fuse to see if current drain drops. Short answer is this should not cause any higher battery draw as its connected through the factory radio circuit. Cheap man's test would be to pull the radio fuse and wait a day, see if battery dies anyway.

After doing my research on this i would stay clrear of it so many bad reviews and complaints extremely poor support etc and no shows in the post as you can't track your order.

Does the internal microphone work with the system? The website says that it does, but still an external mic is included in the box.

I doubt it's simpler than the first option which was to get a standalone external carplay device
But the second option is not easy

Phone is working when on Android auto? How the Bluetooth music is working?
The phone works fine and nothing is affected.
Bluetooth music will sync the music on your phone.
This is cheaper than converting to Sync 3, but then you're stuck with the s l o w Sync 2 system. I'm doing the Sync 3 conversion on my Focus as soon as all the parts arrive. My nephew gets my old unit for his non-navigation Sync 2 Focus. (Mine has nav.)
With this adapter it bypasses the slow sync 2 and risn android auto at a good speed
Unfortunately sync 3 is light theme so its worthless :/

When I put my car in reverse the camera turns on and displays on the screen

After doing my research on this i would stay clrear of it so many bad reviews and complaints extremely poor support etc and no shows in the post as you can't track your order.

I want to just say I watch the whole video before looking at the price I mean for 240 buck I shouldn't have to do so much work don't get me wrong I'd really love to have it in my car because I have a 2013 fusion with the big screen but I might just change the whole stereo and go that way and install a different back camera seem a little easier 😂 but damn Ford why you got to make sheet so difficult lol 😂

I installed ford sync 2 carplay on my 2012 ford edge today
Everything is working great but when I switch back to Sync display touch is not working on display, that means I am not able to set seat heating and other settings which only comes through the display
Any guess what might be the issue?

Sync 3 conversion is tempting, but it's getting harder to source all the parts
