I’ve got 100,000 miles on my 2018 escape with the 1.5. It’s been absolutely trouble free so far aside from a tailgate latch failure. I change the oil every 4,000 miles and have done a transmission service, and ptu service twice. It runs and drives like new still.
My 2013 Escape S model with 2.5L engine has been great. 104,000 miles. There is a known issue on the 6F35 transmission but the trans drain n fill I did at 50k intervals seems to have prevented any issues. I do use Prolong transmission treatment. It made it very quiet and shifting became very smooth.
I have a 2014 ford escape s…same 2.5l….same everything. We bought it brand new, and it now has 170000 and climbing….no issues except for whatever reason, I’ve had to replace the battery 3 times…battery warranty covered it everytime, but what a nuisance. I did replace the throttle body. Had an engine light and limp mode one morning on the way to work. Code came up a little vague, as most are, as a throttle body issue. And believe it or not, a factory ford unit with a gasket, was 100 bucks….🤷 so I replaced them both myself in about 20 minutes. Easy job… I did keep the old one as the code stated that it could be throttle body or gasket or both as potential issues. Codes get you on a track but not a definite solution and it was cheap enough to just replace them with a ford unit. I change my oil with ford oil and filter every 5000 miles….sometimes less. NOT 10000. I do it myself and you can get the oil and filter at Walmart for around 30 or less. Spark plugs are motorcraft every time. So far…it’s been an excellent vehicle.
The turbo was fine but that plastic intake isn't the best make sure to check the gasket pull out a couple of your spark plugs to see if your getting oil around the boot of the plug if dry your fine

My car has 190,000 miles on it and just last month(August 2021), the transmission went out. A remanufactered one is being installed now. I previously owned a Ford Ranger truck and it lasted well over 280,000 miles.

Thanks for your review. I own a 2013 Escape. I'll never buy another Ford vehicle because of the stupid location of the battery in the Escape. I wonder what the Ford engineers were thinking when they put the battery up under the windshield wipers? Probably the same engineers that didn't think it was worth the extra money to shield the gas tanks on the Pinto.
The battery location is odd, but I don't understand Ford not having an interior fuel door release to deter any type of theft or vandalism. ANYONE can still basically push on the fuel door to access the fuel tank, there's not even a cap.

Maybe not as bad as some that out it under the front passenger seat (Audi Q7 suv) as well as many others..still a pain..although not the pain of the Corvettes that had you remove the front tire to get to the battery...
Battery location looks just like my focus and I was able to manage to get it out without taking anything off just tilting the battery and pulling is all that is needed. Still a pain but doable in 5.
WHY would they put the battery there?? So stupid. Anyways, I have Ford Escape from 2003, and I really like it. However, I’ve seen several used Ford escapes from 2014, and it seems like the quality’s down. They have terrible rust and motor sounds bad. I am wondering if it’s worth to buy an escape…
