Last year, Chevy put the performance car world on notice with the introduction of its first mid-engine Corvette. At a starting price of $60,000, the C8 Stingray Coupe could accelerate, handle, and draw attention like supercars costing at least three times its price. Eager to keep the momentum going, Chevrolet brings to market its first hard top convertible Corvette. Promising the same astonishing performance as the Coupe, with the convenience and style of a folding hard top roof, the C8 Stingray Convertible may be even more appealing than the fixed roof. Best of all, the C8 Convertible starts under $69,000.
Miles may not have inherited the car guy gene from his father (heck, his mom is the one with a Porsche 911 obsession), but his dad did have a soft spot for the Chevy Corvette. Miles came to know and appreciate the strengths and weaknesses of the Corvette through his father's C5 and C6 convertibles. Through this lens, he considers how far the C8 has come in terms of performance and - more importantly - comfort. Does its bargain price tag come with cut corners? Are you better off saving your pennies to buy a Jaguar F-Type P450 Convertible, Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet, or Audi R8 Spyder? Find out in this in-depth review of the 2021 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible 3LT.

1 Day me and son will ride in the sunset in a corvette like this.
My son got a 2020 C8 Z51 last year, not a convertible but still nice with the top off. Amazing car
@@mshinn13 I'm happy for him. Once I finish nursing school and work on my credit, this corvette will be mines
@@dejuanhickman3175 keep working my guy hopefully I will see u in mines one day
Been my dream since my son was born✌🏾
Ur dream not far away just keep working God bless you
Never thought I’d choose a convertible over a hard top. Especially a removable hard top.
Exactly. Never would have thunk it, but I'm with you. Convertible all the way. lol. First time for everything.
This is the best C8 video I have seen! April 23 I took delivery of my white C8. Through this podcast I learned several news options on how to drive this car to the max! Thank you!
Thank you for the kind words! I’m glad you enjoyed it 👍😁
Personally I like how they've kept the rear end the way they did it. It still reminds you... It's a Corvette
OUTSTANDING review style. Calm, collected, not jizzing all over the place on every single detail like most reviewers. Very much enjoyed this.
The only thing wrong with the rear end of that car is: it's not in my garage.
I’ve seen SO many reviews and I can appreciate yours! I love the camera angles you used, your honest feedback (which I agree with) on the styling, but even the wind while the top is down. The front stripes are a no go, but overall this is my affordable dream car. Thank you for the great review! You just got a new sub and I’ll easily give you a 👍.
Thank you for the great feedback and for subscribing!
I've seen a lot of videos on the C8 as I await the delivery of my 2023 Convertible C8. Yours is the best and most comprehensive video thus far. Thanks for taking the time and the added details .
Glad it was helpful! Enjoy your C8 when it comes!
I agree on everything you pointed out on exterior styling, such as, designs on wheels, rear-end,and decal sticker on the hood, etc.
Everything the new NSX should have been… good job, Chevy. First time I’ve ever wanted a Corvette
I agree with you Walt Man, I never desired a corvette either. But I want one of these!!!
As a longtime corvette lover this thread fills me with joy. Welcome brothers. GM pushrod V8s are the only V8s.
Spot on!! This is what it Acura NSX should have been and they pushed the premium of the brand beyond their specs and failed. This climbs up above its pay grade. Exactly like the Legacy of the original NSX
It would be nice to be able to find a 3lt convertible for 94 thousand dollars haven't seen it yet
@@fredholland5723 Fred I had to pay $106K for one but I got it the day I walked in. You might be able to get one for less than 100K but it will take a year.
I might be the only person who thinks this but that yellow is banging! Idk how y’all don’t like it. It allows the black to be more dimensional and then it pulls the white out to be like a canvas. Nevertheless I love the car
We just got an Arctic White non-Z51 3LT HTC and love it. It has performance exhaust, front lift, mag ride, front splitter, rocker extensions, red calipers, black wheels, carbon flash mirrors, low spoiler, side vent blades, nacelles and top. We will never track it and we will never push it to the limits it’s capable of performing although I do love to drive it aggressively at times. It’s the best vehicle I have ever driven in my 60+ years of driving. Oh, keep that rear window down with the side windows up and most of the wind buffeting will disappear.
Great video and excellent coverage of the car. Don’t forget to mention that you can open both trunks with a hidden button near the actual trunk location. Also there is two ways to lower the buffeting with the top down. A combination of changing the height of the rear window and also by lowering one window. I find that placing the rear window up an inch from the top plus lowering my window 2/3 down I can drive 70mph and it sounds & feels like going 35-40mph. One window needs to be up all the way. The other window being lowered actually is improved upon than having both windows up. I am getting a ZO6 HTC 3LT. So looking forward to the reveal on 26 Oct!!! Thanks for your video. Awesome details and coverage!!!Video coverage was outstanding also!!!👍
Good insight! Thank you for sharing
Holy moly, I didn't know where you went. I remember liking you from a KIA K900 review when FastLaneDaily was still a thing. Great to see you still around!
Glad you found me! I definitely miss the old Fast Lane Daily days, but stay tuned to this channel for more great content!
This and a Lc500 would be my dream car duo
Almost the same dream with extra hellcat charger
I never cared for Lexus but that 500 convertible is up there close to Austin Martin cool.
Lc500 is pure 🔥!
I saw this from one of GMs videos, but the C8 was actually designed as a Hard Top convertible first.
That’s why it looks so amazing as a HTC and a coupe.
Most cars are built as coupes, then they figure out how to make a convertible. And it usually shows design wise. But not with the C8, it was designed the other. HTC first, then make it targa for the coupe and add the glass.
Amazing video, thanks for the ride.
You’re welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
Car looks great the way it looks during your review!
i love how the glove box doesn’t slam n annihilate ur knees. it comes out nice n slow😍
This is one nice ferarr- I mean Corvette. But srsly though, I love these things!!!
love them, but the wheels look like they belong on a cargo truck lol
@@rubbertoe. 😂
I saw one that was 80,450 a convertible with the lift floor mats and black wheels. This is a smart order the convertible and just a couple of options and they came up with a reasonable price
Great video. My son got a 2020 Z51 and it is amazing to drive!
I simply can’t get enough of this beauty
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I never understand why reviewers put cars in completely different price brackets as "competitors." Sure, the Jaguar F-Type is about the same price, but the Porsche and Audi are double or triple the price (depending on the level of the Corvette). You could buy THREE 1LT Corvettes or TWO 2LT convertible corvettes for the price of the Audi R8. That is not competition between brands, that is the Corvette having no competition in its market.
Exactly
Great review. I especially liked your driving impressions. Thanks.
Gord
I agree, the best part of my C8 vert is the transmission. It makes a great car superb!
The Launch Control is like, GERANIMOOOOOO!!!!
Make mine the LT-2 convertible in white. The interior in that lovely 2 tone tan with the standards seats. NO black accents at all! NO carbo flash either! The side intakes? Body colored as well. The convertible top/roof? Keep it body colored...Also...I'd buy it with the stock wheels/tire. THEN go with the aftermarket and some fabulously chromed wheels from the last gen ZR-1! Those multi-spoke design were made for this color combination! Then just shake and stir... The Z-51 package...The front lift...That's my idea of the just right options for this 2021 corvette convertible.
I agree with your take on the stripes!!! I’m not excited about any of the racing stripes. Outrageous pricing in my opinion. A lot of the Vlogs simply say, if you don’t like the stripes, you can remove them. That’s sort of saying; if you have $500 or $1,000 in your pocket, take it out and burn it.
My grandpa is how I know so much about car and he is why I like corvettes he worked for gm in the 90 early 2000s idk the year but I know in those times but he did a lot of work on corvettes
I love white with black and yellow. I am not a fan of decals, but those wheels (I think) are nice. Goes well with the white.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 BRUH! The Mr. Rodgers entrance with the Ayo & Teo- like us 🤣🤣💪🏽
I'm not even 5 minutes into the video yet and I already agree with everything you're saying!!! The Yellow stripes and the wheels are too busy! I'm waiting on delivery of mine! White with silver race stripes Z51, 2LT edge red calipers and red/black interior. I've had a status 3000 in April, hopefully I'll be getting a call soon!
Thank you and congratulations to you! Enjoy!
Love this video, wish I could be in one of those things.❤️
Great Review! Thank you.
Nice video 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽…..after waiting a year and 3 months I finally will get my C8 convertible next TUESDAY can’t wait
Your going to love it.
Great review!!! 👍
Beautiful vette, love the looks and interior. With the white I would go with the tan interior. The shot of the rear is fantastic. There is no wrong with this vette. The 2022 is the best yet!
It just floors me how good the C8 looks in white. I've taken a look at the other wheel choices and I can understand what you mean by "too busy" on the wheel design. I would love to see your C* wearing a set of 22" Anrky killer wheels. Agree with you Miles, the new Corvette doesn't need decoration - it's badass as is! 👍
I hadn’t heard of those wheels, but after looking into them they would look great on the C6, 7 or 8!
very good details review and enjoying "riding" together with you.... thanks a lot. It's my dream car as well.
Thanks for the encouragement! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Beautiful car! This next car i'm going to be purchasing.
I’ve never been big on convertibles I’ve owned a few but my C8 HTC Z51 car is amazing. I personally think it looks better than the coup with the top up or down. Yes stickers always look tacky. My red stripe on my black C8 is done with a rap which looks like paint and it was only $200.
I’m sold on the convertible now! I was always a coupe lover until this video. Still waiting on the ZO6 however!
Totally! It’s especially crazy cuz the coup still has a removable hard top. But this version is just so nice.
Have I got some good news for you
24:32 Get less wind buffeting in the cabin with the top down by, oddly, lowering the rear window. A comparison car you didn't include is the Boxster GTS 4.0, available either with PDK or a manual. It's more nimble, weighs almost 600 lbs less, has better steering feel, yet is less versatile in terms of that magnetic ride suspension which offers real comfort, has less baggage space, much older and simpler infotainment and sound system, and is a soft top rather than HTC.
The Boxster is even in the same time zone as the C8 Corvette. A comparison would be a joke.
To lower the top remotely, first press the unlock button twice, then the top down button twice, holding it down on the second press, until the top down process is complete.
I have the 2020 Elkhart blue removable top z51 & I love it...But I must admit, I love the convertible
Three things I look for in a sports car: trunk space, convertible and manual transmission. Everything that makes a road trip practical and fun.
Get this or mustang maybe
Three things I look for in a sports car . Styling, performance and performance. If you want trunk space buy a Prius.
@@yes8032 Mustangs are not even in the same class.
What camera equipment are you using. Extremely sharp and crisp.
I watched a video of the C8 coupe evaluated by a McLaren salesman. You could tell that he sort of liked the car but was not overly impressed, which IMHO makes sense compared to a McLaren. However a few months later he did the same evaluation with a C8 HTC and was impressed with the styling and how much better the HTC is.
The color combo on the C8 in the video is definitely not my taste!
I agree the wheels on this car look too busy, cleaner look would better and make the side view a better profile of the clean look of the cars side view. But, besides all that, the car looks amazing👍👍
Miles you have to start your videos with a few lyrics from other songs. It brings out your personality even more. Love that Alanis Morissette song 🎵.
Best review of this amazing car I have seen. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love the new Vette design. Two things I would change is the square looking steering wheel with a round one, and the rear Camaro looking lights with a new eagle eye style rear lights .Besides that it's a amazing car and Euro slick design.🇺🇸🇺🇸
On the coupe I have never had a problem putting soft items above and below the top in the trunk when driving topless!
C7 Grand Sport is easily a daily. With continental DWS extreme contact tires on it, it rides smooth as glass and very comfortable. Could drive it across country no problem.
Just bought my 2021, Z51, 3LT white convertible. I am only going to add the carbon accent on the airflow pieces. Need to break up the white a bit.
Enjoy it!
Stellar review... Subscribed!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
One pulled out in front of me slowly in a mall parking lot. In the flesh so to speak I loved the rear end.
I sat in this in a cool car show at the Orlando Orange County Convention Center Auto Show! It was so cool sitting in my dream car. :)
I agree that the back of the car looks to Camaro like.
Should have kept or bring back the circular tail lights.
Wow the best review I've seen so far. I'm subscribing you now.
Thanks for subscribing - glad you liked it!
No blank buttons, nice for change.
Should have the back designed with 2 round lights on each side. It would give it that American Ferrari look.
on the exterior review about 2:45, there is a lot of debris damage to the radiator grill. Does Chevy offer some type of mesh to protect that part?
There are many aftermarket protector screens available from about $100 to approximately $300….maybe more. Chevy does not offer screens. In fact, they publicly dismissed the idea of screens by making reference to “everything is optimized for air flow and cooling purposes.”
nice video.. I was a fan of the convertible at first but I definitely have changed.. not only more moving components to have issues but the lines of the the coupe are freaking amazing. Little kids peaking in the rear glass and smiling from ear to ear in parking lots is priceless! The transparent roof.. also is a plus over the HTC… my opinion just as this video was yours! Also if you are going to do power adds the HTC limits your options a lot.
This car is best in look with price and I also have a soft spot for Corvette
loved that intro song bro
Great video milesperhr
While I am not a fan of these particular rims, I am not fan of dark rims that are popular today, reminds me of the days of hubcaps and when hubcaps fell off all that was left was a dark/black wheel rim.
great drive demo
It’s made to wheels spin the when they regain grip is what helps it launch fast
Beautiful car great review
Love them seats!! Now is that interior or seats only available on the 3LT or can you get those seats colors combo on the 1LT or 2LT?
If not is it possible to get them after market then just sell my stock seats or even put the stock in my C5 ?
BTW I'm old school I like chrome rims .
I dont think they sell that combo anymore
I have never in my life liked corvettes, BUT this car is a good looking car. I love the black on white, I love the accent strips (yellow) and how it flows right into the seat belts. The wheel and yellow calipers are really nice touch. Haven't finished watching the video, But 70k how did you get it for that low? Maybe you'll say later in the video. haha
You can’t get a HTC Z51 for less than 100K unless you want to wait over a year.
It's monumental in 'ZEUS BRONZE'.
Yesss, i was wearing earphones for this video, lol.😆😆
My brother owns a 2021 Coupe Z51. I drive it 3-4 times per month. I have done launch control numerous times on the track, decent highway roads, etc. I have never ever been faster than 3.4 seconds. Chevy claiming under 3 seconds is an advertisement. Raced it at the track and was beat by a Porsche 718 Boxster 4.0 3 of 5 times. Raced the 718 SPYDER and lost every time in 0-60 & 1/4 mile. The SPYDER weighs 3100 lbs. if optioned properly. The C8 Coupe weighs 3655 lbs. My 60’ times are always quick average around.66. I raced cars for a living for 11 years in the 80’s-90’s. So I have a clue here. The C8 is awesome but it is definitely not a sub 3 second 0-60 car. Like I said previously I am waiting to get the ZO6 HTC 3Lt. I own a new 911 Turbo S and it does 0-60 all day long below 3” and it is normal to have 2.5-2.6 times. I am confident that the ZO6 will be 2.8-2.9 but definitely not the Stingray!!! Don’t trust the timing inside on the dash. It is “not” accurate. I use racing equipment to measure times!!! Just wanted people to know more accurate info on the C8. Cheers.
Awesome review ever as always milesperhr, this 2021 Chevrolet corvette C8 Convertible is an ultamite american muscle mid-engine like supercar that drives and feels Like a McLaren or Ferrari, as always take care and God bless u friend. 😄😁👍❤💯
Thank you for the support!
@@MilesPerHr u r welcome!!😁😁👍👍❤
Agree, absolutely best deal on any car anywhere. LOL I almost put the stripes on but like you front/hood looked awesome without it. Only thing lacking is Real Chrome wheels
Lovin my 3LT Z51 torch
Great color choice on yours! Enjoy 😎
No Stripes, Black 5-Star Rims, & Leather instead of Suede... and that's a Perfect configuration!
Cool review…. How was the windshield reflection/ glare? Didn’t see you mention it, so I take it as nonfactor🤷🏽♂️ see 20:38
Thanks! It didn’t bother me while driving at all
Excellent review 👌
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Personally I really like the rear view.
Excellent car! Is there an option to turn off the blinking HUD above the dashboard?
It’s just the camera, it doesn’t flash when you look at it.
Next time lower the back window to reduce the noise when the top is down
Those yellow stripes on the hood would’ve been absolutely nice on a black corvette. However white I’m like 🤔 tf was someone thinking?! 🤣
Agree
That scenery! 👌💗
Wheels look fine to me. Agree that I don't like the hood decals.
Great presentation, you're a natural
I appreciate that!
I agree about the rims, tail pipes & the decals. Yellow is my least favorite color so I hope it's available in other colors. I prefer the convertible too. But I wanna see a review of the all electric vette convertible. But u forgot to show what the bottom side button on the keyboard does.
Flash alert!! THERE IS NO "ALL ELECTRIC" CORVETTE!! The E-Ray vette...is actually a HYBRID, with 4 elec.motors at each wheel(AWD) AND the 6.2L present engine!! Not coming out till '23, '24!!
HTC is better looking. The car also need a spoiler in the back. I really like the tail-lights.
wheels look like my ABARTH WHEELS.........sweet car brother... might have a coupe one day if i sell my c6......
I like everything about this car! Except the rear back of the car
I agree wholeheartedly to that. The rear is hideous
It will grow on you don’t worry
Had to fit golf clubs. Eye roll. Wish they had a non golfer version.
When I first heard they were giving this car the stingray “ name ,I looked to this car for some curves toward the rear end like the legendary 60’s corvette ; although it has the lines from the top rear ..just a thought
Love the sound of the corvette ❤
I love this car man. Great demonstration.
Beautiful Corvette c8 car
Are they edge yellow.?
I don’t think the reviewer even realizes he can hold down the paddle and it will automatically jump down to the lowest possible gear. This review is actually upsetting me the more I watch it.
Yes it shifts anyway
Does the Electronic Limited Slip Differential make a difference on the street and do you think the Z51 is worth it if you never track it but like to drive spiritedly?
Depends how you drive it (ex. if you ever take it to fun/canyon roads). I think the eLSD is a big selling point for the Z51 along with the extra power. I don't think you need to track the car to appreciate the Z51's perks.
