I just ordered my C8, I went with the 1LT with the Z51 package! It made the most sense to me, I didn’t see the need to spend the extra money for 2LT or 3LT. I’m also in VA and this is my first Corvette!! Awesome videos!!
Watched you latest video. Great video. I retired from the Coast Guard as well. I’m kinda a new vette owner. Only got into vettes a few years back. I love watching your videos Gives me many ideas and what and how to do my own repairs. I own a 2002 C5 with 73,000 miles. And have to say I’m very happy with it. Thanks again for all your info you give out
Must haves on C8s: 2LT, GT2 seats, and mag ride. Z51 only if you are going to track the car. Front lift can be very useful, depends on where you live/how you use the car.
Totally agree, as I have this build, and mag ride, high performance exhaust, and front lift, which is a must for anyone that don't want to scrape the very, very low front end.
@@danle2884can you drive with the car up as high as possible? I only ask because my college has a ton of speed bumps and I don’t want to hold people up behind me while it raises at each one. Thx
great video. We have a 2023 3LT HTC non Z51 with mag ride, performance exhaust, front lift, and low spoiler and splitter. We have the top down whenever it is not raining no matter how cold or hot it gets so we appreciate not losing trunk space for our top. The only mechanical noise we hear is from the exhaustsince we can roll down the back window even when the top is up. The other plus is we don't have 2 rear windows and an engine compartment to clean because i would rather drive it than spend my time cleaning it. I think the ability to see the engine with the coupe is great, it looks very nice.
That’s so interesting because I’ve been listening for all the extra engine noise you mentioned like injector V8 to V4 on my 23 and I have not noticed anything annoying yet. Also I think the tight and loose feeling could be the mechanical diff vs the e-diff on the z51.
I replaced my 2020 2lt coupe with a HTC 1lt z51 mag ride. Difference is HUGE! cant say if its mainly mag ride or the combination but the body roll alone makes the drive much sportier and pleasant. The HTC is also a must have imo, yes you can move the targa top but lack of rear window makes it very noisy at higher speeds.
What’s up Mark! Loved the upload - I reside in Northern VA and I’m currently in the market for a C8. Your videos have been super helpful and informative man 🙏🙏 P.s. I’m with you on wanting the ventilated/heated seats as an option so I’m looking for 2/3LT trims lol
Great comparison thank yo I do too have stripped down c8 non z51, 1lt but 24 so some extra goodies at coast of course. But... i got mine built right before price hike yikes !! I do miss some feutures from 2lt z51 no big deal i can add upgrades slowly but front lift yup messed up on that I do have the exhaust a must ...peace!!
Great job! Next you need to compare a coupe to and HTC. Perhaps my hearing is bad, the engine noises you guys talked about I can't say I hear. Like you the rear view mirror took a little time to get used to. On a HTC the rearview is regular mirror with the top down, at might height I need to just the mirror going from top down to top up because of the glare on the mirror in screen mode. Mine is a non-Z51 with mag ride. Its amazing how much the car tightens up going from tour to track. It rides like a different car.
3LT HTC Z51, GT2 mag ride & lift are mandatory for me. The Blue interior is only available in 3LT. Mandatory options, cameras & blind spot monitoring, the Z51 for added braking & cooling plus the shorter final for 0-60's. Front lift due to the massive curbs here. Magride is soooo nice. The PDR for track and accident stuff.
I was just looking at the 2024 Sting Ray STD equipment looks like they added a few things to the StD list. HUD,Heated Seats steering wheel,Performance Data and video recording, rear cross traffic alert, side Blind spot monitoring,HD front and rear Vision Camera. I think for 2024 the 2LT is the best value.
Trust me, some stuff are just "nice to haves" depending on how you drive your Vette. I only cruise. I have a 2023 2LT HTC with Z51, mag ride, front lift and GT2 seats. I was afraid of not getting something and wishing I had it later. I paid $98k for mine out of fear : ) I got mine in Feb2023 and already have 8500 miles on it. I LOVE DRIVING IT AND CAN'T STAY OUT OF IT. I find simple reasons to get in it just to drive it. It's the way it makes you feel when you drive it. My personal opinion on what I felt I could have done without; i don't use heated/cooled seats, HUD is no big deal to me, and I don't think Z51 was necessary (why do I need summer only tires for cruising???) They should have given me the option for all season tires but they don't. They slide a lot when they are cold (the dashboard lets you know the temperature of your tires; pretty cool). MUST HAVE's FOR ME ARE: HTC! Nothing feels better than to hit a button and watch the roof transform!!! I've been told twice by people in traffic, "Now You Are Just Showing Off" when I retract the roof. As you are walking up to it, you can activate it with your remote, so folks are in amazement that you can operate the HTC remotely. ALSO to note: I hear talk about hating to hear engine noises. With the HTC, it must not be as bad because I don't hear anything that bothers me to a point of noticing it. I'm glad I got the front lift memory so I don't have to worry about activating it when I get to my driveway. It does it automatically when you approach the location. I destroyed a $800 front splitter already because I didn't activate the front lift in a location when I should have. So with the knowledge I have now of the options, I suggest sacrificing everything else to get the HTC first. Secondly, 2LT (you will wish you had the camera rear view mirror, it doesn't come with 1LT). I never planned on racing so the Z51 package was only good for being able to lower my vehicle without needing lowering springs. If you plan on adding twin turbos later, go with the Z51 package. This video doesn't compare mag ride vs none mag ride, and I have not ridden in one without it, so I can't speak to if mag ride is necessary.
1LT non Z51 owner. I live in S Florida so no curves roads. I’d say the perf exhaust is a must but unless track driving or live somewhere windy roads driver is the bigger factor. I put PS4S tires on my car and it feels the same to my friends Z51 vert.
Great video! Do you know if I want to do an occasional track day here and there will a non-z51 be ok? I heard Chevy will not warranty a non z51 if used on track but I’m not sure if that’s true. Thanks
The rear view camera mirror takes a little while to get used to. The reason is that when you look at a regular rear view mirror, your eyes habitually change to distance focus, but the camera display is an LCD display that needs close vision. I found that 2 driving sessions of 1 hour each with the camera mirror display is all that my brain needed to change to close focus when I looked up at it.
I have a 2020 C8 2LT Z51 with Kooks headers, Kooks cats, Corsa exhaust, kooks heat shield blanket, and hall tech air intake system. She's a screaming demon. I get stopped ALL THE TIME by people in love with the car. It's not a daily driver but could easily be one. So comfortable and easy to drive. 2LT is a MUST have. 1LT doesn't cut it and 3LT is a waste of money for what you get. 2LT is it. Period.
My ‘24 C8 1LT with no options came off the line on 9/22/23 with an MSRP of $67,895. My exact same car 10 days later now has an MSRP of $69,995! GM raised prices effective 10/1/23. Also, my ‘24 1LT now has the rear view camera mirror standard. I’m only at 450 miles, but can’t imaging not having it already. Yes, it takes my eyes a second to adjust when I use it, but the view is so much better than just using the glass mirror IMO. It was well worth the 13 month wait since my 1st deposit!
…I actually haven’t noticed it yet, but at only 450 miles, most of that has been with the stereo on testing SQ between Sirius XM, to CarPlay both wireless and wired, as well as trying out an old iPod Classic…I can’t imagine injector ticking will bother me unless I start hearing it above my music.
I have a C8 and there is no issue with blind spots - if you set your mirrors properly (this is true with almost all cars and trucks). Most people habitually set their side mirrors so that they see the side of their car - that causes blind spots. Set the mirrors to point further out - a good technique is to put your head against the side window, set the mirror so that you can just see the side of the Corvette, and then when you re-position yourself to the driving position, your mirror will point such that the blond spot is eliminated. It'll feel weird, but it does eliminate the blind spot. Here is how to test it and use it: look into the rear view mirror as someone passes you. The moment you can not longer see them in the rear view mirror (even with the restricted view out the C8 rear window), you should see them appear in your side mirror. When they get right next to you, you'll be able to see them with your peripheral vision without moving your eyes much. You'll just need to get into the habit that when you change lanes, you first check the rear view mirror and then the side mirror.
3+ years with my 1LT HTC. I love it and miss nothing. I do not like or use most added features on cars, but that’s just me. I was only worried about no heated seats ( Canadian) but the engine keeps the seats from being cold. I have a dedicated race car, so no need for Z51.
Need to chime in ... i drove both non z51 & z51 ... for a week on each ... i think these guys did more talking then comparing ... This is fact ... z51 ... feels alot stiffer at slower speeds 0 to 50 ... & the tires on the z 51 are dangerous in the rain & do not grip ... now the z 51 feels alot better from 50 to 150 mph.. & absorbed the bumps alot better at high speed & car did not jump ... when slot car ( side to side when your passing & whipping into lanes .. ( no body roll at all on z51 .. ) & or hair pin turns ... ( no body roll ) .. & the tires on z51 ( dry ) are really sticky & are a little stiffer but in a good way .... non z51 ... excessive body roll on sweepers & hair pin & especially slot driving ) there is no less then 40 % more body roll on non z51 ... softer ride by at least 20 % on 0 to 50 mph ... ( non z51 ) .. tires are amazing in rain ( non z51 ) & 20 % less grip in dry .. & softer ride untill you go past 50 mph ... over and beyond it actually feels not as smooth & car jumps a litttle & doesnt take bumps as well at high speed ... This is real life comparison & spending time on road conditions without alot of talk & a week of driving both vehicle's ... one more mention ... the brakes are def stopping better z 51 & temperature of car stays at 185 deg & never went over 196... & the non z 51 the fans came on alot to cool engine compartment & non z51 was driving at 225 deg to 230 deg ... they run hotter ( but those high temperature on non z51 is normal ... witout the extra cooling feature as the z 51 comes with ...
Z51 is FINE in the rain. The tires are fine. I picked up my Z51 and had a 500 mile drive home from the dealership. In that 500 miles I drove roughly 150~ miles in a heavy rain storm. I toggled to weather mode and never gave it a second thought. Zero issue. The car did fine and didn't require me to slow down. I continued at a solid 70-75 through. Some people struggle 🤷♂️ it's a driver confidence thing more than a vehicle performance issue. Get out and drive!
while the difference between the two may not be noticeable simply cruising around, I wish you would have compared the two while doing some spirited back road driving.
I bought a non Z51 almost 3 years ago. I did not want the rear cheap looking mandatory spoiler... Electric rear differential which sound expensive when it breaks. I have no brake dust either with the non Z51... I did get the $1150 adjustable exhaust
I have a 23 Z51 3LT HTC and I ordered mine specifically without the spoiler/spoiler holes. This way if I decide to get a 2 post spoiler I won’t have extra holes on the ends. I didn’t like any of the stock spoiler options.
I think regardless if you’re going to track the car or not all around the Z 51 package is a better car if you are able to spend the extra $5,000-$7,000 do it either way they are beautiful cars
I have a C8 non z51. HTC w/ mag ride and NPP exhaust. I added the high wing. Do not have front lift. While i have nvr missed not having the Z51 package, i do miss not having front lift. I do not miss the front splitter that comes with Z51. Also, i prefer the all weather tires to the stickier tires on Z51 Finally, i think the HTC is quieter than the coupe. Maybe you should test that theory Really enjoyed the video. You and your friend team up well.
5:23 let’s goo!! Active Air Force right now and believe it or not you can snag one with a fat down payment approx $17k and $1400/mo with Navy Fed 💯 thanks for your service gents
My non Z51 was a product of constraint two years ago. When your number came up it was a gamble if the Z51 was an option or not. My build came up, Z51 was in constraint. So it was have your car in 90 days or maybe 6 months 🤷🏼♂️. Who knew. Doesn't matter. My E-Ray will be here in the fall. Now if you hardcore track your car the Z51 is a must for the trans cooling. If I go to the track I take my Z06. My C8 is a cruiser for me.
Hey Brother, I have the C8 Z06 here in Virginia Beach. If you would like to do a review for your channel, or simply just drive it to see the difference. Feel free to hit me up. You can park your car in my garage!!
Your apology accepted for not making this video sooner, Mark 😊. Thanks for the interesting video. I wish you would have done a brake dust comparison between the two cars. My dealer said my allocation will probably be a 2025. But that is alright - maybe the “Great wall of buttons” will be updated by then.
Go to Macmaulkin in NH. They are the biggest corvette dealer in the world. They have about 151 in stock, with 300 on the way. No need for allocation concerns. Pick up your car in a few weeks of order or same day.:-) 😊
If that ticking noise really bothers you too much let me know. I’d like to pick up a C8 but people are still trying to gouge 65k out of 2020 with 35k miles
I like this video., however this car is nothing like the launch of a Tesla off the line because I own both cars. Tesla takes off like a rocket, but the C8 does not. It goes, but not like a Tesla. Once it's going, it moves.
It was the closest comparison off the top of my head for a gas car. Like you said not the same... But definitely an aggressive launch. Thanks for watching!
Respectfully without the Z 51 package the car sounds a bit gay the Z 51 package is an absolute must for nothing else. Just the sound. Those are turned off by the gas mileage Lindsay 51 Never Dr. that car without being in manual mode you can always drive a gear high. You’ll get better mileage than 50 being driven in normal automatic drive mode. 51 is a must in my humble opinion
You can upgrade the exhaust without adding the Z51 package from the factory to the NPP performance exhaust. Which I did. To make the car "less gay" how you elegantly put it.
@@_Car_IdeasFor me its a good thing. I don't feel as paranoid when I park my C8 in public. For the Record the C7 is a way better looking car, but it does not drive nearly as well as the C8.
@@_Car_Ideas Not talking about the interior. I agree the C8 has a way better looking interior. I'm just saying that as some angles (from the back) I look at my C8 HTC and think WTF where they smoking. At other angles the C8 Looks Awesome. @@thegooddoctor6719 I definitely think the C7 looks good, it just doesn’t look better than the C8 imo. But I do agree, the back end of the C8 is really weird and the taillights could definitely be better.
it's just a shame they are the price of a House.. I could never buy something like that.. MY little Rancher is only worth 180K.. That shite is House money..
Its hilarious how many none-z51 owners go out of their way to make themselves feel better.. This is as pointless as making a video about what's better between a $50 bill and a $100 bill. All over social media are none-z51 owners telling themselves that their cars are the faster better performer.
It fits the bill unfortunately.. Around 5:30 they brag about how they can afford the c8, completely oblivious to how ridiculous that sounds, and even more oblivious that their positions/career are the lowest paid positions. The nonz51 guys that think their cars are faster than z51 are the same folks who get goosebumps when people think their car cost Ferrari money. Its because relative to their compensation it is.

Thank you for leaving a real comparison.
I expected more comparison in this video, duo to it's title.
@@donalddesforges9014 thank you!
The PS4 summer tire is amazing in the rain, seems like a fake review bro or pretty clueless
great video.. you look and sound like comedian Nate Bargatze... no insult.. he is my cousin😊
Oh awesome!
while the difference between the two may not be noticeable simply cruising around, I wish you would have compared the two while doing some spirited back road driving.
Z51 is a must so is magnetic ride control, it makes a massive difference
I bought a non Z51 almost 3 years ago. I did not want the rear cheap looking mandatory spoiler... Electric rear differential which sound expensive when it breaks. I have no brake dust either with the non Z51...
I did get the $1150 adjustable exhaust
I think the rear wing looks like garbage. If it's in the body color it looks okay. They need to look at Porsche to figure out how to make a wing.
I have a 23 Z51 3LT HTC and I ordered mine specifically without the spoiler/spoiler holes. This way if I decide to get a 2 post spoiler I won’t have extra holes on the ends. I didn’t like any of the stock spoiler options.
All my neighbors come over just to look at mine. I have the 3lt HTC
I have a Camaro 3lt and it took a while to get used to that rear view mirror camera. Now I get in my wife's car and I can't get used to the mirror.
Also, i prefer the all weather tires to the stickier tires on Z51
Finally, i think the HTC is quieter than the coupe. Maybe you should test that theory
Really enjoyed the video. You and your friend team up well.
Hope the wing matches body color. Looks less nice in black unless you have a black car
@@drunvert wing and car are black
5:23 let’s goo!! Active Air Force right now and believe it or not you can snag one with a fat down payment approx $17k and $1400/mo with Navy Fed 💯 thanks for your service gents
The rear view camera hurts my eyes too!
Hey Mark, fellow Vet here. If you would like to try a HTC non z51 with mag ride let me know, I’m in the Alexandria area.
Absolutely. I drive to NOVA often (Sterling area).
Rear camera is standard on 1LT starting on 2024 models
A good move by GM. They should also make blind spot monitoring standard as well.
In the convertible, those sounds are much quieter
Lots of videos wondering “is it worth it.” Sounds like z51 envy to me. Lol
OMFG! That was painful and I don't think I'll ever get over it ¿`__
Just wait until my next video! I'm doing the same comparison, but with a C8 Z06. I guarantee you will not recover from that one 😬🤪
The easiest way to eliminate those minor noises you are picking up on is to TURN THE RADIO UP TO 11!
Better yet, get an actual exhaust! That upgraded exhaust is trash lol.
Very interesting, in Any Spec , the C8 is a Fabulous car and an Exceptional Value , if you can Avoid Dirty dealership's Markup's .
Hey Brother, I have the C8 Z06 here in Virginia Beach. If you would like to do a review for your channel, or simply just drive it to see the difference. Feel free to hit me up. You can park your car in my garage!!
100% interested! Do you have Instagram? You can message me directly on there with the same UA-cam handle
make that happen! great content
Speak for yourself
@@ViperMods_216 Concerning???
@@illiyakuryakin3092 I was joking about apology accepted lmao
Go to Macmaulkin in NH. They are the biggest corvette dealer in the world. They have about 151 in stock, with 300 on the way. No need for allocation concerns. Pick up your car in a few weeks of order or same day.:-) 😊
Oh, one more thing: msrp and below. Some have about 9000 off msrp. Crazy!!
If that ticking noise really bothers you too much let me know. I’d like to pick up a C8 but people are still trying to gouge 65k out of 2020 with 35k miles
Gentlemen. Both prior service. Hooah from an Ol Soldier. Medic and. Ray Specialist, Army.

Might as well keep my Tesla lol paid it off at 21 years old too
I like this video., however this car is nothing like the launch of a Tesla off the line because I own both cars. Tesla takes off like a rocket, but the C8 does not. It goes, but not like a Tesla. Once it's going, it moves.
It was the closest comparison off the top of my head for a gas car. Like you said not the same... But definitely an aggressive launch. Thanks for watching!
Many people who have gone electric have said they would not do it again. Why do you think this would be if electric cars are so superior overall?
Are you in Va Hampton roads area ?
Ahh I spoke too soon 😂
Yes sir 🤙👍
....what the hell? the c8 stingray is wider than the C7Z? no way.. thats not right, is it?
The body of the C7Z is 1" wider than a C8 Stingray. It's the Stingrays crazy long side mirrors (mid-engine) that make it overall wider than a C7Z.
Hurd this before 1983 all over again
Respectfully without the Z 51 package the car sounds a bit gay the Z 51 package is an absolute must for nothing else. Just the sound. Those are turned off by the gas mileage Lindsay 51 Never Dr. that car without being in manual mode you can always drive a gear high. You’ll get better mileage than 50 being driven in normal automatic drive mode. 51 is a must in my humble opinion
You can upgrade the exhaust without adding the Z51 package from the factory to the NPP performance exhaust. Which I did. To make the car "less gay" how you elegantly put it.
Yeah - the novelty of the car is wearing out on the public....
As long as it’s not wearing off to the owners, that doesn’t really matter.
@@_Car_IdeasFor me its a good thing. I don't feel as paranoid when I park my C8 in public. For the Record the C7 is a way better looking car, but it does not drive nearly as well as the C8.
@@thegooddoctor6719 I completely disagree. I don’t think the C7 looks remotely as good as the C8 especially if you consider the C8’s interior.
@@_Car_Ideas Not talking about the interior. I agree the C8 has a way better looking interior. I'm just saying that as some angles (from the back) I look at my C8 HTC and think WTF where they smoking. At other angles the C8 Looks Awesome. But the heart of my comment is that the exterior of the C7 (especially the Z06) OMG Beautiful. (except for the nose of the ZR1). Would I ever trade my C8 for any version of the C7 - FRACK NO !!!!! Just saying.....
@@thegooddoctor6719 I definitely think the C7 looks good, it just doesn’t look better than the C8 imo. But I do agree, the back end of the C8 is really weird and the taillights could definitely be better.
Can this Bette be a daily driver?
no no no, i have one and i would never drive it daily, i put about 30 miles a week on it
it's just a shame they are the price of a House.. I could never buy something like that.. MY little Rancher is only worth 180K.. That shite is House money..
Neither of these cars are worth half of that $180k, lol.
lol a house?? where you live iowa?? your clearly not from long island caus houses here are 2 million for a fixer upper
@@C8corvetteobsession901my new C8 was 117k out the door so thats not true
1LT with performance exhaust. Don’t want any of the other overpriced bullshit.
Trade it in for an overpriced Z06.
Non-Z51**
