The man was so legitimately happy to be there at that Oyster bar. That's the reason we all loved him so much. Anyone can be a great writer and personality, but Tony lived it. He was authentic. I miss him.

@Lazar MMA alcohol is one of the most potent depression causing agents in the world, next to benzodiazepines, hence alcohol being able to induce suicide. We are just biological machines after all. I take your point though, yes there is a viscous cycle here.

I grew up one town over from his hometown, but found myself in San Francisco for my first job out of school. I went to Swan Oyster Depot my first and last day in that city. On my last day I thanked the guy behind the counter for the great food and mentioned I only discovered the place thanks to Tony Bourdain. The guy’s face immediately lit up to pure joy at the bare mention of his name and we just shot the shit for a few minutes before I headed on my way. It’s a sacred place if you ask me

Back then, a decade ago ... you could get a good meal, like this, with a beer for $15. Today, easily $40+. I remember the first time I saw a $20 cheeseburger on a menu in a restaurant. It was NYC circa 2016. Now in 2023 ... I honestly can't remember the last time I saw a cheeseburger for under $18 in the suburbs at a sit down restaurant. These were the days ...

Became more apparent because of him. And yes living in San Francisco being a native San Franciscan. I can absolutely relay and he's right it has changed so much in the last 15-20 years that it's heartbreaking and I don't think that Anthony would recognize it. Now. But Swan Oyster Bar and Tonga room are definitely two of the places that are still intact still part of what I know as San Francisco and love about San Francisco. This was one of the places he went to in A Cooks Tour! Anthony is missed! It’s crazy how we never give people nor ourselves the opportunity to grow because we are belittled by others or even ourselves! Ones past is not their present! We move forward and don’t look back! Much Love

@@Arturo-sm1tb He is partly responsible for the fires in california. Including the burning of the San Gabriel mission. He gave the far left free pass to do all this crap. And if you don't follow what they want, you get arrested. BLM threaten LA DA and the attorney general arrested her Husband for defending himself. Remember, recently a judge was killed. SO it's understandable that angry people who should not be threatening people to change how our DA prosecute in their own home, would be scared . People were getting shot at all last year, just for voting against Democrat. Heck, they tried to run over people in a quaker colony in Orange county. You might not understand communism or other authoritarian government, but giving free pass for mobs to attack one side, while targeting the other for doing far less is how they operate. And PS, these mobs tried to burn down my neighborhood twice. There was two fires set behind my HOUSE> and I do mean behind my house. There is no other structure between me and the fires. And they also attacked my house as well, but the fire didn't stick. SO YES HE IS EVIL FOR LETTING THEM RUN Amuck.
