How did the installation of the Hue Wall Switch Module US version go for you? Did you encounter issues with different kinds of switches, like a three-way switch which many houses have?
I know this video is a year old but the Lutron Aurora dimmers are actually a godsend for my current setup and I didn't even have to mess with cables or anything. I don't have to worry about ppl messing with light switches. Really appreciate the content!
4:00 The RunLessWire switch is NOT battery operated. Clicking the button generates enough power to send the wireless command. It really does work and is very reliable. No wires, no battery.
I'm in the process of setting up my Hue bulbs (2 in bedroom and 2 in living room) I use a bridge as well. I was just wondering if the Hue dimmer would be the best and easiest way to have a controller on the wall. There are so many options that I'm a bit confused. I just want to be able to tap the wall unit to turn lights on and off and have setting but without using my phone each time. I'm assuming I can set one controller to control my bedroom and one controller to control my living room, correct? Thanks for the great video.
The wall switch module is probably battery powered because they may want to keep all accesories 110v-220v agnostic. They already have to produce two versions of each bulb (for 110v countries and for 220v countries) but accesories are universal.
Makes sense. This is what Hue said: One, we become independent from the wiring in consumers home. You for example are not in need of a neutral to connect to the switch and it can be installed in a single pole, 3-way, intermediate switch situation with ease. Second, it made the product smaller and more flexible. As you don’t have a fixed position to insert wiring it can be placed anywhere in the installation box. Making it fit in most cases. With over minimal 5 years battery you don’t have to worry it will run out quick and even in the app you can see the battery status if it becomes critically low.
I am having an issue that I hope someone can help with. After turning off the v2 dimmer switch, when I turn it on, it goes to full bright and to bright white light. What I'd really like to do is turn in on at the last setting that I had it on. Is there a way to do this? This is especially bad when turning on the light first thing in the AM. :-)
Well, the smart switches control smart lights. So for these, you need both. If you want to go with just light switches, you should look into Lutron switches.
Hi, could I pair 2 hue dimmer switches (the remote ones) with one lamp simultaneously? I have a long entrance hall and need to have 2 keys on both sides of it.
can i use the hue v2 dimmer switch like the Hue button, in the sense that depending on the time of day it will turn on a specific temperature of light?
I really like the SENIC because it doesn't rely on batteries and it's simple (but expensive). I think it would be awesome if someone would release a hue switch that replaced standard light switches in the hue system, but used power from the switch box. No batteries and it lasts forever. I'm an engineer and I guess there's something OCD I have about using something that's going to fail unpredictably in 3 years and possibly leave you in the dark. So I guess the SENIC is the closest.
@@Justin_tech Yeah they totally missed the point. If you're going to bypass the old switch, just tap into the power. You wouldn't even need a neutral since it's super low power you could just use parasitic leakage current to power it.
Hi Justin, I just moved into a new flat and the bedroom has two ceiling pendant lights on each side of the but it doesn't have switches to turn on/off the lights next to the bed... the switch is quite far from the bed actually :( I was thinking to change the bulbs of the pendant lamp for smart bulbs and get two Philips Hue Smart Buttons and stick them each on them both sides of the bed and then connect each button to each bulb. my question is how are the switches connected to the smart bulb? is it via Bluetooth? or via wifi? do you know any other solutions in the market to fix my issue? what happens if by mistake I turn off the normal switch do I have to set up the bulbs and the little hue buttons again?? thanks in advance!
The button connects over a technology called zigbee. For those you need a Hue bridge. The Hue dimmer can connect to the lights without a bridge, but only one at a time I believe. If you turn off the real switch you won't be able to use the other accessories to control them until the switch is turned back on. It won't mess up the configuration, it will just cut off the electricity and functionality. You could replace the light switch on thr wall with one of my solutions. Hope this helps! 🤓
I was hoping Philips Hue would release an A21 color bulb (100 watt equivalent). I’m confused as to why they haven’t yet (or if they ever will). How hard could it be? Wiz has one...
Just came across your videos! Do you have any experience with wired smart switches that work with hue? I want to be able to turn off my dumb bulbs using a smart switch since there are so many bulbs I would need to replace. I can't find anything out there that will work with HUE.
Look at Lutron. They have great smart switches that work well with smart home assistants. There's also the Philips Hue wall switch module which lets you use light switches in walls for hue lights.
Well it might be possible to pair it, but you wouldn’t be able to change the colours anyway, since the default scenes on the dimmer switches are various shades of white. Just get the bridge.
every one seems to be about the light bulbs my home automation questions are about outdoor motion sensor and smart plugs and making those work together on this app I tried and it got very confusing I want to control my outdoor security lighting from two different motion sensors any help would be greatly appreciated I use the smart plug to energize my existing lighting im just having trouble with the app to make it work like I want my indoor light scenes will come later thanks for reading
The designers at Phillips need to be slapped upside the head for not making their dimmer remote fit inside a normal 1-gang, 2-gang, 3-gang wallplate. For the life of my I can't understand why they didn't think of this. I don't want to attach that thing next to my existing wall plate. I want it to replace what's already there. And I want it to be a dimmer and not just a switch like that new wireless switch thing that uses your existing switch.
Can any of the dimmer switches you reviewed be set up where two different dimmer switches control the same light or group of lights? In other words can they be set up light a 3-way switch controlling the same light or lights from two different locations? Are there any options to do this that do not require a dedicated bridge?

i want to see so damn time stamps ffs
Anything with 3 toggles? That seems to be the most common switch type that Phillips have no answer for.
Philips Hue bridge and what you need to do when the third led lamp doesn’t turn on even if it’s connected to your LAN. Thank you!

You just changed my life with that first one!!!
Hey dude, I'm just gonna call this now...remember me when you hit 100k subscribers. Good shit.
Thank you sir!
Yeah! Looking forward to this one
Hope you enjoy it! :)
I use the Lutron Aurora in my theater to control and dim the 10 hue lights in there. Such an amazing value!
Literally THE BEST for what it does!

This video deserves more views
Why thank hue! Shares appreciated :)
LOVE PHILIPS HUE CONTENT! I didn't know about a lot of these switches so very cool to see. :)
They are awesome! Each one fits in a different spot around the home. More Hue content coming your way!!
looking forward to some NFC stuff
Me too!!!! :)
Wish you lived near Cleveland. I’d hire you to set up my new and remodels homes.
I just bought a Hue smart switch. Having fun playing around with it :)
Woohoo!
Great content man, keep it up!
Thank you!! And thanks for the feedback yesterday.

This vid was super helpful! Look forward to few vids you had mentioned in the video!
Is it possible to have two shitches connected to one lamp?

Justin, how can I put Bluetooth on a Android like a Google Pixel Philips hue Bluetooth app? I can't find it ?😅
Great video! Please make more

Excellent video !
Phillips are still operating in Russia! There are other Zigbee products on the market!

Is there not a hardwired option for a switch?

Agree on all points! Hue has a box you can put in the switch box, but it’s battery operated…

Are you from Palm Springs?
There are a few more really good options for controlling Hue bulbs including RGBgenie, Brilliant, Pico+Hubitat, and Inovelli switches
I've used and made vids on Brilliant. Great premium switch. I'll check out the others!! Thanks for the recs
Is there a switch like the Senic & Gira that would work with Phillips Wiz?
You can use an Alexa/Google enabled switch. There’s Aqara or the Flic button. Aqara is cheaper. Not AS many controls, but enough.
When playing music it stops when ever it’s on too long weird!
Does anyone know when the module should be coming out? I know summer 2021 but anyone have any more info on this?
No word yet.
Any hard wire smart switches like from c by ge
The Hue Module will be kind of like this - I have a video on it: ua-cam.com/video/12lfnf-4auQ/v-deo.html

Hi do you have link for the neon smiley plz ?
I bought it from the Museum of Neon Art in Glendale, CA. I believed it's closed now...
Does hue dimmers work with hue led plus strip without hub?

Just get the bridge.
0:26 grossest light switch ever.

Ok, so your European friends will get this sooner but what about MY European friends? Should we arrange a play date?
Honestly could be the most important question. I'll need to speak with my sources and get back to you!

Lutron thing is ugly af. They couldn't have just made it a rocker switch?
Super new mandal
Where can I find that lamp/shelf combo in bedroom on the right?
Great Video Thank you - although far too fast ! I need subtitles running, so makes my eyes go - have to watch it 3 times :)
You can slow it down in the settings on UA-cam and speed up too!
But I’ll take the 3 views lol
@@Justin_tech How do you slow it ?
Bottom right corner of the player there is a button.
Do you know of any 4-channel Friends of Hue switches?
Can you cut the light strips in extend them? 😃
Can you program the Senic Switch to turn on/off a Hue Smart Plug?
I think so. Let me test tomorrow!
which one of these can work with two way switches??
The wall switch module will work.
