Thanks Brad! I don’t have any Hue lightbulbs, but have equipped my entire home with Nanoleaf Essential A19s. Can this Hue dimmer be configured to be a light switch (with dimming) for Nanoleaf bulbs? If not, what would you suggest I use for a hand-activated light switch solution, if Nanoleaf doesn’t release its Learning Series anytime soon? Currently using Siri for all on/off requests but would like a physical option as well. Thank you!!

Really helpful thank you! One question: I created a scene in HomeKit for my bedroom which turns on two hue nightstand lights and starts music on my Sonos One. I currently have a Hue button setup but with only one press I can’t set a “turn off” action. Does the new switch have the ability to do this? Sounds like not from this video… is there another button or switch with more actions in HomeKit you recommend?

    • @TheBradLloyd

You can use it as a buttons but the dimming buttons won’t dim Nanoleaf lights and you can’t program multiple presses. So basically you can assign a scene for each button.

Hi Evan, no. It's simply a way to turn on and dim with a physical control. You can set the "On" state, but you can't do it by time. You could possible do a secondary automation in HomeKit - i.e. When light turns on between X:XX and X:XX, turn the color/brightness to X. Hope that helps.

Hello, very usefull video. Can you help me?
I have a very large house, so the connection of the HUE bridge doesn’t reach that far.
In our bedroom I have a ceiling light with 3 HUE bulbs. I configured them with the V2 remote (without bridge.)
Everything works fine, only now I also have a bedside table with a Hue light.
This can work together with the ceiling lights on 1 remote, but then they all go on or off at the same time! Can you configure them separately on 1 remote?
I worked something out with 2 different remotes (without bridge), but this seems a bit too much for one bedroom…
Or will things be more useful if I can connect them all to a bridge?

You can’t tell the button to do 2 separate things in hue vs home app… however, You can, for example, configure each button separately so button 1 cycles through scenes in the home app and button 2 sets a HomeKit scene. Thanks!

Hello - if you're connecting via bluetooth then make sure you are using the Hue Bluetooth app (separate from the regular Hue app). That should work. In order to see it in HomeKit though, you need the bridge, since it's the bridge that connects to HomeKit, bringing it's accessories with it. Hope that helps.

Try resetting: Factory reset the Hue dimmer switch by pressing and holding the setup button on the back for 10 seconds. Restart the Hue dimmer switch by holding all 4 buttons of the Hue dimmer switch. You can let go when the light on the front flashes red/green briefly.
If that doesn’t work you may need to contact Philips Hue. I’ve had to call before and they are pretty good.

Any suggestion on how to map the on off button with multiple scenes of adaptive lighting depending on the daytime and still preserve the on/off function? I currently use a hue bulb as a trigger device to switch to A.L. scenes in HomeKit with time conditions but it’s really messy, produces a short flash before switching to AL and sometimes doesn’t work at all. Maybe I should buy a hue smart plug to use as trigger with the first hue scene the button actives and then use Homebridge dummy switches as conditions to activate the AL scenes depending on the daytime. Any suggestion is appreciated. The time based light from Philips hue is useless since it doesn’t consider the sun. If one doesn’t live at the equator, fixed times are pointless. Thank you!

Welp, I'm all in on Meross bulbs and outlets, but I want this remote so bad I'm buying a hue starter kit and this remote just for the wireless functionality, which is for some crazy reason not provided by anyone else except belkin for $50 and it's terrible I hear. I got the starter kit with hub and 2 hue bulbs for $30 used on amazon, and a used v2 dimmer remote for $16 used on amazon too. All of my friends swear by hue and went that way from teh start. I was a dummy but also a frugal cheapskate, lol and went with Meross and have a dedicated 2.4ghz extender that handles all of them great.
