This is from Harvest Right Site - "When you’re ready to rehydrate it, wrap the bread with a damp paper towel and put it inside a plastic baggie in the fridge and it will rehydrate overnight. Or, wrap the bread in a damp kitchen towel and let it sit on your counter, checking periodically to see when it’s fully rehydrated."

That's a lot of work for a bunch, why are people dehydrating if it takes so much water to rehydrate? I understand preservation but on buns?

It would be easier to learn how to make bread a variety of ways and just carry the ingredients. Might be hard for bugout stuff, always keeping a couple loaves around would balance that out. Tortillas or wraps would be much easier and require less. Good things to know in a pinch.

Greg, when I saw the title of this vid, my BS meter went up to 11, I checked to make sure this wasn't posted on April 1. But, since it is you and you have demonstrated your cred over all these years, I thought "fair dinkum, mate". Your result is truly amazing and stunning. You should freeze dry some of that wagyu then cook it. Also cook it then freeze dry it then reconstitute and serve it to ninja. Ask him which is better.

Just ordered my harvest right a few days ago. One of the first things I want to do is make a burger for backpacking. This only helped solidify my thinking that it's possible. I still have a lot of challenges because I want a traditional burger with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cheese, pickles, freeze dried ketchup ground up in a blender to make a powder. Last thing on the list is the Canadian IMP hamburger bun.

I just saw your video. It’s excellent. You can freeze dry a green Chile stew. Meat, onions, tomatoes, corn and garlic. That’s is what goes into a stew. Just add salt, pepper and a little cornstarch at the end to thicken the stew.

That freaking looks AWESOME!!! When I first joined the army in 1988 they had a "Dehydrated Pork Patty" and it was great but they discontinued it. Then around 2002 they came out with the freeze dried grilled hamburger patty and it was great also. I so miss eating that crap and I do't know why. The army also had shelf stable milk. I walked by a 5 ton truck one day that had been hauling that milk and somehow a case of it had broken open and dried in the bed of the truck. When I smelled it my mouth began to water for some reason. I guess the army puts something in the troops food that is different from regular civilian food. Am going to get one of those freeze driers as soon as Uncle Sam comes through with my money that I have been fighting for since 2012. I've been dehydrating a lot of food but this freeze drier is what I really need. Thanks for posting this Ballistic BBQ. It is an awesome video.

OK I did some work on this and I found something out. I freeze dried a piece of bread lightly soaked in jus. I put it between two patties with the cheese then topped with some more cheese. IT WAS GOOD. You can make an inverted burger freeze dried. The downside is that you need a fork to eat it; The upside is that the bread works this way.
