AB, he wrote this song after his 4 year old son died. He fell out of a 53rd floor window....😢
Boygenius has a song referencing this tragedy 😢
Such a very sad situation..😢😢
Sacrificial death. All for fame and money. Smdh, very sad and evil.
He did. It was the most horrible tragedy. Just a little boy. His son.
So sad😢
The fact that he wrote this for the young son he lost in such a tragic accident…and shortly after we lost my brother, then my grandpa. This song has always gutted me.
I'm so sorry. Showing how much you miss is them is important. It truly shows what an impact they had on you, how you had the time with them to share something no one can replace. Bless you and those you lost, but are NEVER forgotten. Peace from Northern Michigan.
Sending loving thoughts to you and your family.
It’s a beautiful song, that once you know the back story become gut wrenching and tragic, but still haunting and beautiful
Yes, this song was on the soundtrack for the film “Rush”, a great movie in its own right. This song was dedicated to his son who tragically died early in life ✨
I remember when his young son died in New York from falling out a high-rise window.. it was on the radio all the time.. making us all feel sad for Eric but you couldn't turn it off nomatter how sad you felt? Eric deserved our attention!!!
Your next two Clapton songs should be “Wonderful Tonight” and “Bellbottom Blues”.
You should look up 1993 Grammy award night with him performing that song. He won like five Grammies that night. He was even up against Michael Jackson.
Eric had a great time with Conor the night before at the Long Island Fair and planned to spend the day with him. When Eric heard what happened traffic was heavy so he ran I think 18 blocks to be with Conor's mother
Such a beautiful song. He wrote the song about his little boy that died as a small child. Sad.
This song was written for the movie Rush, which was the first project Eric Clapton worked on after the death of his son. It was written in such a way that it could apply to any person's loss, but the death of his son was the driving force behind it. Heartbreaking.
Eric Clapton has a very big catalog, and is a great rabbit hole to go down. This one is actually one of the saddest he did. Will I know you in Heaven applies to everyone who's lost a loved one.
hie little 2 yrs old son, fell from a 11 story apartment that had an open window. Eric's world changed, everything. This song will last through the ages to come. Bless his heart..
Rest in peace Connor!😢
This song won the song of the year Grammy
This song became popular right when my dad was diagnosed with brain cancer. He died about 2 mos later. I was 16. I’m pushing 50 now and it still kills me every time I hear it.
So sorry for losing your dad so early in life. Not fair! Bless him for helping to bring you into this world (nurse)! I bet he was a wonderful dad. He's not gone as long as you remember. Peace from Northern Michigan. (Retired teacher)
Thank you for your kind words ❤
I am so sorry for your loss. Sending you positive thoughts.
@@ABtheKreator I appreciate it ♥️
I feel that so much. Prayers for you and yours.
Not only written for his son, featured in a great movie called Rush.
Awesome movie
So sad a song ,especially losing a child it stays with you forever.
Yes the song is very sad and beautiful- so tender and gentle. But I also find it very comforting as he works through grief from initial devastation to comforting himself that there will be no more tears in heaven- beyond the door, there’s peace I’m sure…
A lovely collaboration to try is 'Holy Mother ' with Clapton and Luciano Pavoratti. Classic Clapton guitar and classic Pavoratti operatic vocals. 😁💙
“Eric Clapton……..,country????”
Close - Eric Clapton……Legend aka Slow Handed Guitar God. Aka Rock Royalty. Classic Rock/Blues
How about Slow Hand's (Eric's nickname) Layla or Lay Down Sally or After Midnight or Wonderful Tonight.
i loved this song.. after my 2 yr old son died i remembered why he wrote this song, i couldnt listen to itagain, but i did for you and i still cried like a baby!
❤🩹
Deepest sympathies. Sending you positive thoughts.
Gut wrenchin song 4 his son Conor . Abs heartbreaking ❤️🩹 😢 towards the end u can hear his voice start to crack . Cry every single time !
I get ugly cry everytime i hear this 1 because i know what happened to his son . I saw him & BB king & bunch others live when i was a teen at the blues festival in the Mississippi Delta.
Can’t listen to this song without shedding tears. It was my dad’s favorite songs. Me and my sister were having a day out when my grandmother called us and let us know something was wrong with our dad and she couldn’t wake him up. Immediately after that this song came on the radio and we knew he was gone somehow.
I'm sorry for your loss ❤️
Sooooo beautiful 💔
Amazingly brave to write and sing such a beautiful song after the tragedy of his 4 year old son's death.
❤❤❤❤❤
Both a sad and gorgeous piece of music. Thank you. I'd love to see you do a reaction to another gifted guitarist that was in the same class as Clapton, the "greatest guitarist you've never heard of", the legendary Rory Gallagher. Rory was very well known for his live performances so I'd like to recommend that you check out "A Million Miles Away" live in Paris 1974. The "effects" on the guitar are only his hands creating sounds with the volume and tone on the guitar. Thanks!
So very sad! 😔 😢 Beautiful song, so amazing, Eric Clapton is amazing!!
Thank you for reacting AB!!❤❤
Beautiful song. If you haven't heard Layla yet, it's amazing - both the original and the unplugged versions.
He wrote this about personal loss. You need to listen to Gone Away by The Offspring. Hits hard in the same way, but in a different way...
As all the commenters have already told you why he wrote this song..the video doesnt give it the true weight of the lyrics...💔...
Other very meaningful songs Eric has done
💥...My Father's Eyes
💥...Layla
Do think to give it a listen...
Eric is one of those musicians who's life unfolds in his music..which is generally they way it happens when singers write their own music..and particularly those with tragic or unhappy events...Sting is another artist that his life runs parallel to his writing...
🌿🌿🌿
Please, please react to Eric Clapton “Old Love” the unplugged version. Chuck Levell from The ALLMAN Brothers and The Rolling Stones on the piano is unbelievable! One of my favorites from Eric. ❤🎶
❤ you but just couldn’t watch this with the accompanying video. The real life story is so devastating and the song that came from it so beautiful, it just needs to be heard on its own.
he wrote this song for his son after his death..
on 20 March 1991, Clapton's four-year-old son, Conor, died after falling from the 53rd-floor window of his mother's friend's New York City apartment
The clips are from the movie 'Rush' but as mentioned by others, Eric wrote it for his son.
The movie is "Rush"... amazing movie
I dedicated this son to my dad when he passed away, he was such a huge fan of Eric Clapton, and this song describes everything I felt after losing him. It's such a good but sad song.
Wishing you all the peace and comfort possible.
My mom passed last night. All I can hear is this song.
Looks like it was used in a movie, but he wrote it after his son's tragic accident. 😭
I sadly lost 2 daughters when I was a teenager and this song makes me cry every time because I am reminded of what I lost 😢
Deepest sympathies to you. Sending you positive thoughts!
@@ABtheKreator thank you for your kind words. Nothing but love and respect
no it's about his son who died tragically
You know he lost his son in a horrible accident. The boy was a toddler. Early Clapton for guitar.
Great reaction 💯 good ta see you actually LISTENING & FEELING it! Keep up the reactions(& if you ever want suggestions I got u...in several different things ,rock, olskool hiphop, etc ...ijs)
I don't know if you realized this is one of the songs Ren mentions in Seven Sins. They say when Eric Clapton Found out about his son's death he ran to get to the hotel. When Ren found out about his friend Joe on the bridge he ran to stop him from jumping. When I heard it in Seven Sins it really struck me because they both made that desperate run... both with tragic outcomes.
☮️💙😢
He wrote this song after his son died. He fell out of a window. It was very sad 😢
This song and Nutshell by Alice in Chains kills me!
😢😢😢
Those are scenes from the movie Rush. Good movie. You need to watch.
played at my spouses funeral
I'm so sorry.....💔
I am sorry for your loss. Wishing you all the peace and comfort.
It was for his son that died. He fell out of a window 😢
Tragic story behind this song. 😢
Wanna suggest Meatloaf. Paradise by the Dashboard Light. Not a 3 word song, I promise
Til we meet again Abel Tarin 💔
I heard this song after my wife died in front of our daughter and i eyes.
I'm so sorry for your loss ❤
Conner
Check out raign. She does a great cover of wicked games and knocking on heavens door. Original videos are better, but thats just my opinion ❤
Next one…..LAYLA …LIVE VERSION……
Hiss son died . Fell out of a window
Hope you liked it, but I can't listen to it anymore. Having children made this song WAY too difficult to listen to.
Video is wrong for the song,Video is for a movie breakup, send is for losing his son in real life
