Additional Pro Tip. Follow her instructions exactly, but add damp old cloths (Environmentally friendly) vs baby wipes, and wash every glass you want to etch with Dawn using a mild abrasive (Scotch-Brite Stainless Steel Scrubber), really put some effort with friction [NOT MAX SCRUBBING FORCE] (No it won’t scratch decent quality glass), then proceed with her instructions. This removes any waxing or polishing from the factory (Raw Surface) [Even brighter etching]. Spreading the etching cream like icing without much pressure is the best method. ☝🏻👏🏼🤩Brushes give inconsistent patterns if not applied very quickly (“Spreading” as much as possible on the first pass as quickly you can with no breaks in application provides the most even etch.) If you do the above you will get a VERY sharp, white, and even etching. ❤ EXCELLENT TUTORIAL BTW!!!
Great video, thank you! My first attempt at etching and I did pretty good.Should have left cream on a little longer.I watched several tutorials and the times were slightly different. From start to finish you hit every point.Good job explaining!!
Wanted to etch a few candle glasses but wasn't sure how to go about it. Your video is by far the most detailed, informative video. Thank you so much for explaining the process step by step for those of us who are just a babe in the forest when it comes to etching!
I have always liked this process, but like everything, I am intimidated to try it. Your tutorial is very well explanatory and simple. Thank you for the time you take doing it for us. I personally appreciate it very much.
Okay, this is super helpful. Another video I saw said to just leave it on for 3 minutes... And that didn't seem long enough. So I'll try the full 15 minutes. Thanks so much!
The etching cream contains very dangerous chemicals. It's is absolutely required that you wear nitrile gloves for protection. Do NOT touch with your bare skin at all, ever. Also, you should wear safety glasses and a respirator. It can cause permanent damage to your skin and airway.
You did an amazing job explaining this. I'm following along and you made it so easy for my first time etching. Very informative and detailed video. Keep up the great work.
Alex, I've done etching before and love how it makes plain glass special. Great gift idea for the bride and groom and if you put the date on the item it will be extra special.
I loved this video but in the instructions that I got from the armour etch it says 1 and 5 min for leaving the cream on. My results were also some blotchiness. Love the baby wipe idea. Now if i can just got my vinyl on without or bubbles in a centerish way thatd be great
I wish I would have watched this video before I did my etching. I used masking tape and make a complicated stencil. The stencil turned out ok, but I followed the directions on the bottle of etching cream and it came out very light and unnoticeable. The stencil probably would have been easier to make with vinyl as well.
Wow :) great video. I have tried, and failed. I notice that I was using the the wrong thing to apply the cream. Also, the cream I am using looks very different than yours. I think mine is way too thick. maybe it's old. I'll try the Armour.
I did my first etching this past weekend and it came out great! But I wish I would have watched some UA-cam videos first for some tips. Your tips and tricks are so helpful and I will be using them on my next one. Now just to find a good way to hold glass still.
Can you do this on a window pane 16”x16” for privacy and make your own pattern? Does it have to be a stencil or can you just tape on the pattern, a reverse idea to what you have shown?
if i leave it on for 30 or 45 minutes does it etch deeper? i would try it myself but i am trying to evaluate this before i buy some. thanks for the great tutorial!
I want to try this etching cream but I’m pregnant so I don’t want to take any risks with the chemicals. I know you can use spray paint but I’m not sure it Will give me the same result
Thank you! For being so detailed! You helped me stain my bridesmaids glasses! I messed up on 2 so far. I have all the groomsmen glasses left to do. Any tips on getting the bubbles out from the cuts I have to make due to the round glass?
Have never etched but am ready to start. Not sure that i understand what you get to start. Is it just a stencil or a decal. Where do i purchase the transfer paper or decal. I need help. Thank you
I’m new to Etching also and I ordered a stencil off of Etsy. It’s just a piece of plastic with the words cut out! There’s not sticky backing! Help how do I get this to stay on my glass jar?
Love this video but I may just order reusable vynil stencils. I've never tried it before. Just got my cream today. I'm really excited to try it. Any ideas for a baby shower?
Hi! I'm new to the channel. I am trying etching for the first time today so thank you for the tutorial. My question is actually about the transfer tape though, what kind of transfer tape do you use?
i want to try etching a glass and i have a svg file and its of a couple, do i need to group them or attach them so that they cut as one rather than small individual cuts ?? Your video is fab and makes it looks so easy, fingers crossed it is as easy !
Can you etch tempered glass without having any damage to the temper? I have a piece of 3/16 tempered glass on a firewood passthrough door and would like to etch the entire piece of glass?
Love this video. I am working on table numbers for my daughter's wedding but wanted to do a test run on something else before starting on those. Question. I don't have baby wipes but do have Antibacterial wipes. Any reason for not using those?
I've bought 2 different bottles and they both have chunks in them. Is that normal??? It's very frustrating because they get in the way and it messes up the etching.

You're welcome! Baby wipes have always been my favorite way to clean off my etching!

This video just saved me a helluva lot of effort and stress, Thank you
im using the same etch cream and the directions on it says 3 minutes not 15, but I won't argue with your results. Looks great.
Alex, I've done etching before and love how it makes plain glass special. Great gift idea for the bride and groom and if you put the date on the item it will be extra special.
Yes absolutely! If I had a second one I definitely would have done a set!
Thank you so much, I just watched your easy to follow video and I finally was brave enough to try it, and it WORKED, I'm so happy with the results.

Is the green colored pen a special type of pen? (the one being used to remove the stencil design from the vinyl in the beginning)?
So you can use permanent vinyl and can you share which video shows how you did the stencil for the glass? It turned out beautiful!
Loved this video, very easy to follow. Looking forward to starting this new craft thank you
What's better to use permanent vinyl or removable vinyl?
Thank you so much for this video. Can I use permanent vinyl as the stencil? Or would it be better if I use removable vinyl?

Great explanation about etching glass! Thank you
I will do some etching for a door glass for my son's school. I'm not sure if this will work on any glass. Thanks.
What size design do you recommend for a wineglass? I'm about to try this and don't want to have something too large to control.
Can you use the same stencil multiple times?

I see you used permanent vinyl for the stencil, can removable vinyl be used?
What type of decal vinyl you are using?

Can you etch without etching cream?
I wish this video would also show how to do this without using the Cricut, maybe stick on letters. 😢
Can you remove excess after it's done? I left it too long and it dripped onto the glass where I didn't want it. 😔
What does the transfer tape actually do ?
Great tutorial.

Does this product comes in other colors or just that one?
Just curious, can the stencil be removable vinyl as opposed to permanent since it’s going to be removed anyway? Thank you.
