    Excellent explanation - I think calling it a "simple rotary guide" would be as applicable because you are clear and straightforward in explaining how to do this. The results are marvellous!
    The only point I think that is worth emphasizing more would be the ventilation and protection: inhaling glass or any kind of silica based particulate can have devastatingly bad effects on lungs - pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis (aside from being a long word) is, in the literal sense, a disease of the lungs due to microscopic silicone particles that have been formed into amorphic structures.

      Do you have specific mask recommendations to combat this? Looking to start something similar but obv keen to avoid any health impacts.

    • @duudsuufd
      @duudsuufd 8 місяців тому

      I think a simple mask is sufficient. I'm not a medic, but these medics are always exaggerating with possible dangers. People living in sandy deserts all have silicone particles in the lungs. They don't die from it. We have mucus to capture most of the particles.

      Maybe the sandpaper would work yes. There has to be a way to get those clean lines. But in this case i did not want to do to much because it would close the gaps between the shapes. It is easier with connected shapes. But yeah, i bit more practice in my case would also help I guess :)

    I have been engraving cut wine bottles for a few years now. I have gone through 3 dremel 3000. They keep breaking down. Is the Stylo any better? My last dremel lasted about 8 hrs worth of glass engraving. I thought Dremel was the best brand, but now I wonder. Do you have any thoughts on what I should by next or what I might be doing wrong?

    • @rotarycrafts8760
      @rotarycrafts8760  7 місяців тому

      Hmm. That sucks. It should not break down that quick. I've used the 4000 for 3 years without any problems with the tool. The Stylo is good for very specific light tasks, but it lacks some power. If you are going for a Dremel I'd recommend getting the 4000 with the flex shaft, it is a better allround tool. But there is nothing wrong with going for the cheaper brands like "Wen", they seem to work fine. A comparable wen rotary tool is like half the price of the 3000. But the flex shafts that comes with the cheap ones are usually pretty bad, so I would use the original Dremel flex shaft with them.

    I'm surprised you don't use a magnifier on a clamp arm. That is what helps me see small details. There is also a clamp that can hold a dremel, if you want to move objects by hand. But I never tried that.

    Anyone trying this at home should know that glass dust is not good to breathe in. you need water dripping over the glass as you engrave it to keep it from getting to hot and cracking as well as keeping the dust to a minimum

    #RotaryCrafts thanks for the lesson! Please do something with flames and dragons! P.S. you should be wearing nitrile gloves...glass is painful in the skin. Btw...you might want to look into acid wash for glass engraving. You place your template on the outside and paint the acid wash on...then wash it off. You must wear gloves for it.

    You need to keep the engraving wet, you can burn the glass with diamond burrs but if you are using cheap glass no problem but please don't do this on crystal you will ruin it. Water keeps the glass cool and damps the glass dust down to slurry easier to wipe away and less to inhale even with a mask on. The other thing I would say is there is not light and dark shading it is just flat I think to improve your skill you need to be looking at shading it opens up a whole new aspect of engraving

    • @rotarycrafts8760

    • @RICDirector

      The diamond small bits aren’t making a mark in my glass. What could I be doing wrong? The only marks showing up is when I use the green bit. My dremel is at 35.

    • @MichaelRozie
      @MichaelRozie Рік тому +2

      @@sunflowergrowing then you are not using diamond, diamond is harder than glass in Mohs scale, it should scratch it. Maybe you are using a wood cutter or you have worn out the diamond coating.
      If it is diamond it will scratch even without power

      @rotarycrafts8760 the art of shading is not done with a tool, rather its an extended understanding of contrast and how that contrast is created by utilizing space ( both in, and around an image ). Take a look at a portrait, study how artist use shadows and shading to create contrast in the lips, nose and eyes. Sometimes a single line either dark or white can give a lot of depth to an image or drawing

    While I detest the CoD streamers, and the streaming scene in general; all of this shit is on Activision. They treat these streamers far better than theyve ever treated those of us who have never made a penny off of their game. You can't expect grown ass adults who behave like chronic degenerates on stream to just one day transition into adulthood.
    To Activision: You all created this problem, and now you're whining because, yet again, you exercised piss-poor judgment, and turned a blind eye to crappy behavior. Now that it's happening on your dime, it's a problem. Just think of these streamers as being the same as your game on release date: bugged, broken, and needing a few more years to develop.

      Ho. I have not tried proxxon. But I've seen them around, they seem like good rotary tools. But I don't think there are that many attachments for the proxxon tools. ( They can't use the same attachments as the Dremel as far as I can see). But if you are mostly going to rely on bits, proxxon might be just fine.
