Thank you all for the feedback on this episode. Bare in mind despite the title both dubs have their strong points. We just wish to preserve history and to not have it erased hence our advocacy to have the DiC Dub re released.
I mean I didn’t know there were two dubs. So it’s like dragon ball z how it has like three notable English dubs. I prefer funimation more than ocean although I do like the voice cast in the latter. Kai I have not seen yet. I wanted to watch sailor moon because Toei animation worked on this.
By the way hope you one day review the 1986 Transformers movie. It has a great cast awesome soundtrack, Toei worked on it and it has some Star Wars references. It’s better than the live action movies I’ll tell you that.

DiC may have done some bad censoring but at least it wasn't as bad as what 4Kids did to Yu-Gi-Oh! or One Piece
Yes and no. I fucking hate the lgbt censorship in the Dic dub of Sailor Moon but the Dic dub at least didn’t do something as dumb as editing our text on signs

@@LenOnTheDoor00004Kids had some bad eggs from time to time with Yu-Gi-Oh, a bit of Sonic X, a bit of Ultimate Muscle, and a bit of Kirby. But nowhere are they anywhere close to the abomination that is One Piece.
ViZ Sailor Moon's fine...I get that ViZ has Serena's whole story and all, but DiC Sailor Moon's a treasure worth keeping :'( Censorship or not I don't care, their Sailor Moon felt like magic was real! As a kid it feels like Sailor Moon, her teammates, her magic items, are all real even though they're not. Their Sailor Moon's amplified the fun in believing in magic! DiC Sailor Moon...really has you wishing you could feel that way again :(
And better than any 4Kids dub.
But they are no where great as the original Japanese dub.

in the DIC dub, they felt like real people, and acting was wonderful and gravitated towards being more heatrical and over the top, again which was great.. in the Viz dub, the performances are sterile, flat and vanilla as hell. Feels like all of the magic, heart and soul from the DIC dub was sucked right out with the Viz dub.
BTW, Funimation did a solid job with Kai, but even then the characters themselves lost a lot of character, charm and feel less natural most of the time, because the actors tried too hard, and it sounded like they were just reading from a script. Dialogue felt unnatural, too calculated and borderline cringey. Late 90's funimation Z dub + faulconer score was an amazing experience, Kai unfortunately doesn't live up.

I, too, grew up with the DiC dub and agree about the voice acting - DiC's voice actors are superior. In the Viz dub, they all sound far too alike and fall a bit flat. If challenged, I could probably identify each Sailor Scout by voice alone, whereas I wouldn't be able to for the Viz dub. Also, I'm surprised you never mentioned it, considering your chosen background music, but you gotta admit, DiC really put in the legwork to compose original songs for their dub. Sure, the music/lyrics can be cheesey AF but they're damn catchy and, in some cases, better than the original ("Carry On", anyone?).
However, I really can't say the Viz dub is bad. It does its job and is far more faithful to the original. Even the change in names is ok and I never minded it or found it difficult to switch between them. Out of all your arguments, I think the names is the weakest. Just because you can't remember or pronounce a name doesn't make it bad, and it sounds like more of a you problem than the anime's problem. Your attachment to DiC's names is pure nostalgia.
So honestly? I'm torn. Both dubs have their pros and cons and I find it difficult to favour one over the other.
I agree. Personally, have noticed Viz media voice acting lacks to find actors to give personality into their voice... they seem to sound the same

DiC Dub forever for me. It's where the magic began, where I was INTRODUCED to the series to begin with! "But they censored everything, and voices are aw-" ZIP. If it wasn't for DiC to dub it to begin with, THERE WOULD BE NO SAILOR MOON FOR ME. I was disappointed when CW replaced voice actors all over the place and the writing, but I stick with it! Truth be told, I re-watched all 4 seasons in Japanese just to get the glimpse of what was taken out, and I loved it!
I can also understand Naoko Takeuchi's frustration and overall negativity towards how DiC handled her product but back then things were different in terms of censorship. Did I know about them then? No, of course not. Do I understand why they did it? YUP. Do I agree with those decisions? No! But to outright say and claim DiC/CW did it wrong... I don't know what to tell you. At least it was BROUGHT to the states. I'm grateful for this dub because that's where Sailor Moon became something for me. I even attempted to look at scenes Viz dubbed, and it just isn't the same. I'd rather watch the Japanese AND DiC/CW versions anyday. Terri Hawkes/Tracy/Linda my Sailor Moon, Barbara for Neptune, and the list goes on.
I just hope they can rerelease the DiC dubs just for the sake of Nostalgia. Hell, even the movies too! Also, did you know your voice reminds me of Melvin (Umio's first dub voice?) So iconic :).
PLUS: I pronounce it as YOU-sah-gi. A lot simpler and sounded to me.
Censorship or not, I miss DiC's magic for Sailor Moon so much! Like I said, DiC had it feel like Serena, her team, her wands, their powers, feel real....their dub had it feel like magic really did exist :'(

Of course, VIZ dubbed scenes aren't the same as DIC dubbed ones, 'cause they're deeper and more dramatic. I haven't shed a single tear watching DIC dub when I was a child. Now, being grown up, I make a waterfall watching VIZ dub. Compare both versions of season 1 final to understand what am I talking about.

The only thing I would change about the DiC dub is for the original VAs to fill in the cut content of season 1's finale. Other than that, I absolutely love the original dub.

18:32 about ten years ago I shelled out $89 on some sketchy website for the entire series and movies. I’ll admit that they’re pirated but the purchase turned out great. I’m talking main menu screens, episode selection, extras, etc. Honestly, zero buyers remorse as I am so happy to have the DIC dub.

Zoicite's death was my first time seeing a villain and feeling sympathy for them. It was a huge deal for me.
I would definitely buy a rerelease of the DIC dub.
The Viz dub is a better representation of the original but the Dic dub has a lot of funny moments and I feel like it should still be available as well as the new version. I was working on a Ocean dub HD remaster for Dragon Ball Z using my video editing skills. Maybe restoring the Dic dub would also be fun when I’m done with that

I'm getting the impression that the original Sailor Moon 'JPN' Cast offered more variety and character to their voices to help differentiate themselves from one another. Problem is, i can no longer watch anime with the original JPN voice overs. :P It becomes grating and because i have no clue what they're saying word for word, what they say loses a ton of impact regardless if I'm reading the subtitles, which also take away from what's happening on scree. no thanks!
Guess I'll give the Viz dub another chance as bland, underwhelming and safe as it all is, since DIC never fully finished the entirely of the series unless I'm mistaken.
A better representation of the original would be the original. Viz Moon tries to be the original, but lacks the little things that made the original great. You have to jigger the dialogue a tad bit to keep the nuance of the jokes and wordplay.
We have English voice acting with weird Japanese honorifics-slapped in a show that takes place in Japan. English people don't talk like this. To make matters worse, Japanese people don't talk English like that either. Its unnatural and the worst of both worlds. Many modern dubs and translations have this problem. Being accurate, but not sounding natural.
We may not like the "Americanization" of the DiC dub, but whatever it did worked. Stick to the Japanese version if you want the authentic SM experience.

The Dic dub has such a special place in my heart. I have a box in my closet filled with vhs tapes that my dad used to record every episode(amazing 90s commercials and all) in order. My dad is gone now but just thinking of the love and dedication he put into recording those for me during the week so I can watch them when I visit him on the weekend brings tears to my eyes. God rest his soul. One of my biggest regrets is recording over the first 4 episodes of the Doom Tree saga for a Mickey Mouse christmas special thus ruining my perfect set he had made for me. I don't care if the viz dub is more accurate and the original creator helped picked out the voices the Dic dub is the only dub for me. I think if they got the original actors they could of done great with a more faithful adaptation.
It's a shame how the OG cast is getting pushed to the wayside. They gave such personality the chatacters. I do however think the viz voice actors work better for the Crystal reboot. I think the Dic voices would of been a bit out of place with the new look of the new anime. In short Dic dub all the way for the OG anime but I am perfectly fine with the viz dub for the new anime.
I grew up with the dub and I wish it had a remaster one day, but sadly, with the way Toei is continuing, I think Toei doesn't even want to preserve history as it wants to destroy everything Sailor Moon DIC related. I mean why else would they purposely not even bother in trying to find its own DIC Dub masters (let alone contact anyone from DIC to help them on that)?
Yes, booth Tracey Moore and Terri Hawkes did voice No Heart's niece Shreeky from The Nelvana Care Bears, Linda Ballantyne who voiced Usagi voiced Wasp in Avengers United They Stand. Usagi's current VA Stephanie Sheh voiced Hinata in Naruto and Orihime in Bleach. Veronica Taylor who voices Setsuna voiced Ash and Ash's mother in Pokemon and Erica Mendz who voices Haruka also voices the daughter of Sesshomaru and Rin in the Inuyasha sequel Yashahime.

From my knowledge at least the movies for the DIC dub were uncencored and more accurate to the script. I don't mind the name changes for diversity I mean Serena looks nothing like a Japanese girl she could of been a transfer student from the US or something same with Darian. Rei's name should of been kept as Rei instead of "Rey" though since she's authentic Japanese.
Kinda like the Ocean dub for the first 3 DBZ movies with Peter Kelamis was also uncut and script accurate. I own those DVDs. Peter to me is the definitive English dub VA for Goku
The Viz Dub doesn't actually suck, and I think that's the main problem with it. It doesn't stand out in any aspect.
I think they way were too focused on being accurate to please purists and not repeating the "mistakes" of the DiC dub, that they forgot they were making entertainment.
The problem with these weebs and purists is that they wan't they always wan't dialogue to be exactly identical to the original, when in reality, JPN language doesn't always translate well over to english, which is why it's important to switch things up and make some changes. Accuracy doesn't mean it's better that's for sure.
And i'm sorry, but Dic changing the lesbian relationship between Uranis and Neptune to 'cousins' doesn't even matter. If anything it was a smart decision on their behalf. They're trying to make the show appeal to children & younger teens, and garner in enough popularity and success in NA. Plus, Making Zoisite a female instead male was perfectly fine. Kids don't need to be and should not be introduced to these forced gay relationships imo, and DIC obviously felt the same way. Different times, better times actually in the early 90's, by a land slide comapared to today ;)

Fans: Oh hey, so its- wait a minute. What happened to the theme song? The voices are all different and the music is weird. Who's Usagi? What is this "Bun Head"? What happened to Luna's accent? This isn't the Sailor Moon I grew up with.
Viz: Ah, but its a NEW and IMPROVED version!
Fans: That's not the point. You sold me this on Nostalgia. This is fine, but this isn't I want the Sailor Moon that made me a fan. I'd rather have the old one back thank you very much.

I have been watching the Dic and Viz dub together (I grew up with Dic). In my opinion, Dic didn't really censor much, unless you count the missing episodes. I enjoy Dic, Cloverway and Viz. If it is Sailor Moon, I enjoy it. I do think the original Dic cast is the best cast for the inner scouts but I prefer the Viz actors for the outers. And I love Suga as Rini in CWI!!! And I enjoy the actor who did Dic's female Zoicite. That said, it is too bad that us in USA/Canada did not get the same treatment as Mexico, who had an entire uncut dub back in the 90's with the actual Dic names. And the majority of the Mexican cast also came back for Crystal.

Kaiju no Kami well many of the dubs back then changed Zoicite, not just the English dub...the Spain dub, Greek dub and Japanese dub are the only one's that I recall with a male Zoicite back in the 90s. It was a different time.
Just because other dubs did it does not make it okay.
I wish DIC would re release it with the LGBT censoring corrected. The DIC dub will always hold a special place in my heart and I wish there was a way to relive the nostalgia and memories of the DIC dub. Sailor moon was my whole childhood and I miss being able to watch the childhood version I remember so fondly.

I like the Dic dub of Sailor Moon, it was the first anime I ever saw, I also like the Viz dub because it’s accurate to the source material, but I have a little preference for the Dic dub due to my nostalgia for it, and like Bigjackfilms, I want to see Sailor Moon crossover with Super Sentai/Power Rangers too, I’m surprised Toei hasn’t tried to yet.
With the Viz Dub it feels like the VA’s were phoning in the majority of their performances. With the DiC dub everyone’s bringing this unique kind of energy to each of their characters.

I wouldn't fault the voice actresses of the ViZ dub. They did the best they could do under the circumstances and direction they were given. They can legitimately act, but the voice direction is simply not there. They were not allowed to act.
Stephanie Sheh got the short end of the stick the most. Since ViZ was aiming to be "accurate", She was likely told to mimic Kotono Mitsuishi's take instead of putting her own unique take on the character. So she sounds like a really crappy rendition of the JP version.
As a Sailor Moon fan myself, kind of, I can definitely respect your opinions. However, I choose to see both of the dubs as having their strengths, especially when you put them together, as you exemplified. Though, I don't recommend watching Doug Walker's review of it. It's very misinformed/misconstrued, as well as innuendo heavy. Mostly toward the guardians and their transformation sequences. *cringes, remembering when I used to like Nostalgia Critic*

Let me just say that ever since watching your videos, I managed to get myself into Sailor Moon, which has now become one of my favorite animes of all time. If it wasn't for you man, I wouldn't have gotten myself back into anime again. (Also not gonna lie, but I happen to be a fan of Sailor Jupiter myself as well.)

6:35 The first two seasons of Sailor Moon were actually distributed by The Program Exchange (a barter syndication company launched by General Mills) in the States.

I have a weakness for 90s anime voice actors. There's good and awful in all of them but there's so SO much more heart and soul in them. Now a days you have the same voice actors doing similar roles over and over again..
I'm finally getting around to watching the Viz dub, as I've seen trailers for the more recent movies, and want to catch up on the old anime first. However, since I have nostalgia for the old character names, old dub music, attack names, and some of the VAs, I'm actually watching both dubs side-by-side. I can see why people prefer the Viz dub, but I just like old dub Luna's "you listen to me now bitch" approach to the character, even though I love Michelle Ruff in other things.
This show became one of the main influences for one of my favorite girls shows, Lolirock. If you haven't seen it, i recommend so, if your interested, that is. It's currently on Amazon Prime if you have it and Kimcartoon.
I liked the Dic / Pioneer Dub voice actors a lot more than th VIZ Media english voice actors, especially for Usagi/Serena. I don't actually mind that they use their correct names but the voices.. ugh.. 😬 The other thing that bummed me out is the music from the North American version. It's gone from the series + digital versions of the Movies Sailor Moon R, S and Super S.

I didn't really grew up in the 90s ( 2000s baby here ) but I remember so well finding the Dic dub of Sailor Moon on UA-cam at 9 years old and let just say it lend me into world of anime
I don't use the word often but the Viz dub of Serena ( Usagi , IDK why but some of the Japanese names are hard to pronounce and say without looking like an idiot ) kind makes me cringe
I'm sticking with Traci , she made my childhood and her voice of Serena still puts a smile on my face same goes for Molly , Luna and Queen Beryl

Yes the lines were cheesy and censored but then again it was the 90s everything at that time , TV program had to be careful what you aired cause who knows if a child actually witness something that can set trauma or get that show banned
Nowadays it's change but still back then TV program were walking on eggshells to survive and thrive
I hope someday soon we will get the Dic dub in blue ray and in 4k , it would be one hell of a time

Fuji tv had nothing to do with Sailor Moon. It was TV Asahi. Also Disney doesn’t own Sailor Moon’s dub. They owned DiC until the late 90s so they owned Sailor Moon in a roundabout way but DiC went separate from Disney by 1999 and lost the license to Sailor Moon around 2004
But let's be honest. Sailor Mars is pretty FIRE.

Both are trash compared to sub. They both censor and alter the show on the regular. Viz, despite being made to replace DiC still alters and censors stuff, gets a character's name wrong for 22 episodes, and inserts an "over 9000" joke in 2014.

@BigJackFilms can you please tell us where you found the HD movies with Doc audio? I have the uncut films with Doc dub but the music is the original Japanese music not the Dic music so no Power of Love which makes me really upset. I want my uncut Dic dub movies darn it

I’m glad someone is paying respect to the DIC dub. I hate it when fans complain about the censorship and edits. It was a different time! The DIC dubbed brought us Sailor Moon, and we should remember that. Was it perfect? No! But chances are fans became fans because of DIC. I almost think of DIC Sailor Moon and the original Japanese as almost two different shows. It would be odd for me to refer Serena as Usagi watching the DIC. Then calling Usagi as Serena watching the Japanese. I guess I’m able to compartmentalize. DIC allowed me to love Sailor Moon so much that I would ask my mom to write a check for me to send to some random video subber in Canada just to wait to get a VHS of a few episodes or the movies. People forget the internet was still very new and sketchy. Constantly being reminded to never give your name over the net. Anyway At the end of it though I still love the DIC dub. It’s my childhood. As far as VIZ... I hate it. The voices sound so generic and bland. Stephanie Shay can be annoying. It’s the stereotypical “I’m a voice actor” voice. This is why I only watch Sailor Moon subtitled.

Plus, they had to edit/censor the Old English dub of Sailor Moon back then in order to make it more appropriate for kids to watch it. I guess that most people tend to forget about that simple fact. Plus, kids should not be exposed to seeing/hearing any type of sexual content as well.
I too, prefer the DiC dub when I want to have some fun because it comes off almost as a gag dub or abridged series. I have similar views of dub vs. sub with the Digimon Adventure and 02 dubs, which I hold as better than the sub because of the humor and energy are cranked way up.

Very well done review. Now that I have seen it, I will give you my two-cents about this. To be frank, I like both versions. For the VIZ media version, I want it true to Naoko-chan's true vision, that and some of the voice actors I like such as Patrick Seitz (Dracula, Scorpion and Bass Armstrong), Kate Higgins (Sakura Haruno and Tina Armstrong) and Robbie Daymond (who is now linked to Rino Romano, who also voiced both Tuxedo Mask and Spider-Man). And as for the DIC dub, I like for the nostalgia factor and getting to know their voice actors like Susan Roman, Ron Rubin and Katie Griffin. True, the original dub wasn't a masterpiece, but if it wasn't for this version, we would never knew Sailor Moon in the first place. Let me compare her to another famed Japanese icon, whose road to North America was a rough one, too and that icon is none other than the King of the Monsters himself, Godzilla. You see, after his grand debut in 1954 with the original Gojira, two years later in 1956, the U.S. distributors acquired the rights from Toho to bring Godzilla to the U.S., but edited it to make it like every, other 50s monster movie, that and adding Raymond Burr to the mix before becoming famous as the TV lawyer, Perry Mason. To make a long story short, like with Sailor Moon through the DIC and Cloverway dubs, if it wasn't for the 1956 Americanized version, we would never knew Godzilla in the first place. Not to mention so many Godzilla movies after that. So in a way, both Sailor Moon and Godzilla are kindred spirits. They may have come from different backgrounds, but their paths to North America are quite similar. Anyway, your video was respectable and well-informed. Thank you...for still believing in the original English dub.

VIZ Sailor Moon 🌙 is really bad because of all the cursing and swearing. Q995s version by DIC was written to be a popular show by being inclusive so that both kids and adults could watch it side by side. BUT...VIZ's copy has A LOT OF SWEARING!!!!! Villains are always saying "D###". Yet even a heroine like Sailor Jupiter acted by Cherami Leigh ALSO says a lot of swear words. Just imagine if that young girl way back in 1995 was watching, and also listening to the dialogue. And falling in love with this teenage adventure show!! Then 20 years later S.M. is re-released with thus new copy by VIZ. OK. that young girl is now a married mother with young daughters, and Mom wants to share her favourite show. But instead of her version by DIC...NOW IT IS A VIOLENT AND..."dare I say it?"...sexy adult based show, with adult themes, and adult cursing. Then Mom says, "WHAT HAPPENED TO MY FAVORITE SHOW?????!!!!!" THERE'S NO WAY TO SHOW IT TO MY KIDS!!!!! SAILOR 🌙 MOON was a rom-com about a teenage girl growing up. She discovers her hidden past. And her Future Destiny. She finds out about the amazingly powerful crystal she must protect against the forces of evil. Her new friends become her loyal Scouts who grow up into becoming super powered Soldiers and Guardians who protect her even at the cost of their lives only to be recreated again. Their unswerving devotion to her helps to carry the story Far into the Future for when Princess Rini Small Lady is born. The actresses in the DIC Version worked as a team on the various Soundstages to be edited together like a Unified Team. Like the 3 actresses who acted as Serena, with Tracy and Terri and Lynda all helping Serena grow into the Princess and Neo-Queen. But the VIZ COPY Doesn't have that Emotional Interaction. Because the script is so repetitive, with Monster growls and Usagi says that she will Never forgive you.....! YET, SERENA in DIC Always has love in her ❤ HEART and always tries to get the Enemy to see the classic "Error of their ways", and change them back into good people, so they can be friends like Anne, and Allies in the Future like the 4 Sisters. And the 4 Amazon Quartet. But unfortunately with the VIZ COPY you just cannot feel any of that magic formula come through. 😕 Sorry not sorry. 1/19/22.
Cherami Leigh voiced Sailor Venus, not Sailor Jupiter
I tried giving the Viz dub a chance but it left me feeling cold. It just felt soulless and the vast majority of the performances were extremely bland, almost monotone and too vanilla. The Dic dub was just magical back in 95. FanFrikkinTastic voice acting, it had character, heart, it was more emotional and the soundtrack oozed of atmosphere and gave the series so much flavour imo.

I love both the dic and viz dub, the only bad one is the cloverway dub. This show still rocks sub or dub, finally got all seasons on dvd and i'm glad, i still love the musical score that dic have and the voice acting isn't that bad. Wish people stop bashing the dub and glorified the sub like it better, nothing is perfect.
i remember watching I believe the DiC version as a kid right before school every day. I started rewatching the anime recentlly and thought some things didnt match what I remember like theme song. I remember it being in english but despite what i watch now being dubbed intro is in japenese.

To me I prefer the Viz dub, I can see why some people do love the DiC dub more as those people do have memories and even nostalgia for it and whether you like the DiC dub or not you do have to give some respect for it, as it introduced many people into the world of anime & manga and to be honest if we didn’t have the DiC dub then we wouldn’t probably have the anime boom of the late 90s/early 2000s!

I didnt watch the show on tv as a kid so I dont have nostalgia for the old dub. For me, it's no contest, Viz is better in all aspects. In fact I would use the two dubs as a comparison to show how english voice acting for anime has greatly improved.
But I do hope the original dub is rereleased someday, its probably a copyright issue and the first two seasons were edited so they would require separate videos. Only seasons 3 & 4 could be added as an extra audio option because the video is unchanged.
I grew up on the DIC dub, but I prefer the Viz Media dub. The censorship really bothers me in the DIC dub, but it was understandable for the time. The main thing I miss from the DIC dub are the original songs. It is sad that all these streaming services are trying to erase the DIC dub though.
Somebody needs to Edit the Viz Dub and plunk in the DIC score. :P Not a fan of the original JPN music, it's too dated for my liking and the show winds up losing that romantic whimsical and magical flavour that the Dic version had in spades.

Probably the reason why newer fans do not want to watch the DIC dub it's cuz maybe there's no gay representation at all. They took away the gayness out of Sailor moon, Uranus and Neptune are lesbians that were turned into kissing cousins by cwi and making fisheye a woman when he was man that liked dressing up as a woman. And of course Pioneer was never going to dub Sailor Stars because of the Sailor Starlights transforming from men to women to become sailor soldiers/sailor Guardians.

Unfortunately you cannot blame Viz on this one. It’s Toei and Takeuchi. They hated the DiC and Cloverway dubs. That’s why we didn’t get season 5 for many years. And honestly I would have hated to see what they would have done with Stars I’ll be honest here.

I'd only seen a few episodes of Sailor Moon on Toonami back in 1999/2000, and haven't watched it until recently when it started airing on Toonami Rewind (the viz dub). Because of this, I don't have a nostalgic connection to the Dic dub. Still, the show was memorable enough for me to be curious about it and eventually watch more of it, but only in its uncut form. Thankfully, the Viz dub has allowed me to do so.
To be honest, I think the dubbing in the Viz version is fine and fits the characters decently (I'm only six episodes in, so I have to see if it gets better). Could it have been better at points? Sure, but it's far from the worse dub I've heard (One Piece and Cardcaptors have that award). I think Stephanie Sheh's voice fits Sailor Moon pretty well and isn't as annoying as it could've been. Side note: Shea was also the dub voice of Mitsuha Miyamizu from the film, "Your Name," and she was fantastic in the role. So she can act, it was just a case of different direction.
Also, I'm not a prude when it comes to modern dubbing. If the dub is good and is respectful to the original material, that's what I'll watch. If there is no dub or if it's based off of a heavily edited version of the series, I'll watch it with the original Japanese audio. One of my favorite dubs is the one for Attack On Titan. The dub actors fit their characters perfectly and I can't think of the series without their voices.
A show like Cardcaptor Sakura, on the other hand, is a completely different matter. In my opinion, there has never been a single dub worthy of that series. Nearly every dub of Sakura butchers the original intent of the series, right down to replacing the music, which is unforgivable. I can understand some of the business practices at the time Cardcaptor Sakura aired in the U.S. (under the name Cardcaptors), but they didn't even do that good of a job with it. It's also the fact that Cardcaptor Sakura is one of the few anime I've seen that I can't think of it without the Japanese voices. They fit the style of that series so perfectly that it's impossible to think of any other voices for them.
Felt you got overly angry during the video when comparing the dubs, when you say both dubs are fine and then you scream and rant about what you don't like about the Viz dub it makes you come off as insincere.
I just barely started watching sailor moon on Hulu with my sister. I might have to double check if the dub is viz or dic, but sailor’s name is Usagi so it might be viz. But I didn’t know there were two dubs.
It's Viz's dub. That is the only dub Toei allows to be used now.
