charges are integral to the game, its a defensive tactic and it would be unfair towards defensive minded players to take that away. and it is one of the most natural basketball plays in the game at every level, it rarely results in injuries at any level besides the nba, it should be on the offensive player to be aware and play smart instead of trying to force things when the defender beats him to the spot

Something that doesn’t get talked about with indianas historic offense is rick Carlisle. Had a couple historic offenses with the mavs. Give him someone who can run a pick n roll and he’ll give you a really good offense
It was a different front office during the PG era. Kevin Pritchard since coming into the picture (the year PG was just about done with the franchise) has truly done some incredible things for the franchise. He was basically handed a situation that most would have not been able to handle well right off the bat and got Dipo and Sabonis in return for PG which eventually led to Hali. Gotta give him his flowers
#askKB Don’t get me wrong, I want everyone to be able to get their flowers, but to me, adding a second day to the NBA draft is almost belittling. I see it as the commissioner saying - “Your not good enough to be drafted on the same night as Wemby and these other guys, but come back tomorrow and we’ll through a whole other party for you lesser people”. Am I buggin?
Nah I think it's actually better so guys who get drafted later get more recognition for getting drafted. In the draft now unless you are drafted in the top 20 or so you are passed pretty quickly so guys who get drafted later in the 1st round and the 2nd round don't even get time on the screen and are mostly forgotten.
Yeah you’re kinda buggin ngl, respectfully, I don’t think it’s gonna work out this way in the long run but the way I see it is Adam Silver, yes for money too, but he’s doing it so those second round picks can get more of their own time to shine. Unless they’re gonna do the same thing like having draft picks during commercials, cause that would seemingly defeat the whole purpose of a second day, but I imagine they still wanna make money off the second round, it is a business at the end of the day, but to still give second round picks their bit of limelight of getting drafted and having those little interviews after the draft pick and things like that.
Better than what happens now, don’t forget that Jokic was drafted in the middle of a Taco Bell commercial, which is just disrespectful as hell. Even if they wouldn’t be sharing the stage with the more valued talent, as it stands they don’t get to be on the stage at all
“Just stay in front of your man” is a really ironic argument against charges when it’s called a defensive foul if the defender isn’t in perfect position. I also think it’s something some players can make a career on, player like Marcus Smart, or TJ McConnell, who aren’t the most skilled or most athletic player on the court, but what they lack in those things they make up for in effort, and sacrificing their bodies just for an extra possession, As a Celtics fan I remember Marcus Smart diving for a loose ball, bruising his ribs, and staying in the game. Charges are also some of the biggest momentum shifters in the sport, maybe a landing space type rule, but getting rid of a charge would be awful for defense and for the excitement of the game as a whole.
Hey Kenny, as a raps fan, I will say the pascal trade was not an absolute L, because bruce and 3frp makes the team extremely flexible. Masai can now move up the draft if he spots someone he likes.
I agree about the charge question. I've personally gotten hurt a few times by someone sliding under me at the last second while I'm going up for a layup and I'm nowhere near a professional athlete. It's a dangerous play and honestly takes away opportunities for highlight dunks nightly
I think there should be a call for a “reckless charge” where a player who had no chance to make the play slides in front of the player would result in a flagrant, like the reckless close out rule, bc I do believe that blocking/charging fouls are important for the defensive rules
When you were talking about Scottie without Siakam having a -10 net rating it's mostly because the Raptors love to run Scottie+bench a lot and the Raptors have one of the worst benches in the league. You had Scottie creating for players like Malachi Flynn and Precious Achiuwa.
Man even if this 2026 pick ends up valuable, the chance that any of those picks end up as valuable as the talent that Pascal provides is very low. This also shows that the Pacers are ready to win and will hopefully keep Hali happy for a while if they can resign Siakam and possibly move another young player for another all-star/borderline type of guy. I think this trade doesn't get much better for both teams on paper. Even if the Raps didn't get an insane return, they have started their rebuild that they have been delaying, and in the past they have been one of the best in the league at developing talent that the rest of the league has overlooked.
#AskKB What is your opinion on the Jazz right now? Heard you mention they are a favorite watch right now on Numbers on the Board but would love to hear a bit more in depth analysis
#AskKB Enough basketball talk. What was it like to work with Hivemind? Along with you they are one of my fav UA-cam channels and it was such a cool moment to see you on their show. Any content in the future with them?
As a smaller guy I loved to take chargers because it’s a call that was really left up to the refs so I definitely disagree it also rewards good defenders with less athleticism
Why would you mess with the chemistry of all-time offense? Sure. Siakam fits well around shooters but that won't be a more potent offense than the previous system, which is so effective from lack of ISO. Pacers just added turbo thrusters to a car needing brakes. Having that said, Siakam and Hali are a great fit with defensive minded players around them ... but this current project will be a failure until they make trades.
Pacers are def on their tier 2 with 76ers Heat Knicks Cavs. This year vs Bucks 4-1, vs Celtics 2-2, Vs 76ers 1-1 (3-0 in tournament games vs them all). I get Playoffs are different then regular season or even In Season Tournament, but 7-4 vs the top3 teams in the East speaks for itself. 2-0 vs Cavs and 1-1 Vs Heat. 1-0 vs Knicks. So Vs the other top5 teams in the East Pacers are 11-5! Also you’re sleeping on Mathurin. This year when Mathurin scores 15+ points Pacers 17-3. Carlisle has criminally short leashes with young players (Luka not a fan, lost his job with Pistons bc he wouldn’t play young Tayshaun Prince, and has handled Mathurin bad the first 1.5 years), Mathurin’s flashes remind me of Klay Thompson and dare I say Dwayne Wade. Some Mitch Richmond too. This year when Mathurin plays 30+ mins (after tonights great game @ Kings with 25 4 3 3stocks on 11-21 and he could of had 30 if he had got the whistle he should of. Only 1 FTA was a joke) he AVERAGES: 25 PPG 7 RBG 3 APG 2Stocks per game 54/40/84 +56 (+7 per game) Pacers 6-2! He’s still raw and has to improve his defense, handle, IQ, even his 3P% (though it’s solid this year and his stroke is pretty…47/38/84 which is very good for a 21 year old shooting guard), but as a basketball head, who has been going to 30+ pacers games yearly in great seats since Reggie’s rookie year in 1987 Also 1 year alone or not Kawhi is def a Top5 Raptors! Had their best single year ever especially playoff run (Top20 playoff run ever period in nba history)
As a Raps fan, it hurts to lose Siakam as the last real member of the 2019 championship squad, but we needed to get younger and let Scottie take his role full time with RJ and Quick. We definitely appreciate him wanting to stay so they’ll have to retire his #43 once he’s done. Same with Derozan, Lowry, and VC. Kawhi is a maybe but probably as one of the best one and done NBA seasons ever.
that's a very apt comparison between Dunn and Exum. both drafted no 5 overall, Exum in 2014, two years before Dunn in 2016. Although Exum is actually a year younger!
This makes the pacers an “upset alert” team, meaning in no way are they favorites against the top 3 teams, but if they take a series to 7 anything can happen and they have the ability to do that, i cant say id be surprised to see them take any team to 6
@@illDefine1 well they’re definitely a playoff team so i dont see how. Like i said i wont be picking them against a top 3 seed but if they win in 6-7 i cant say i wouldnt be able to believe it. I just like good ball 💯😂
#AskKB As a NBA/Knicks fan in Europe, how do you think the NBA can expand its fandom more overseas? The NBA has little to zero coverage in the main stream media in Europe and people seem to only know lebron James. The games being after midnight almost always (I love a matinee game) makes investing in league pass not worth it witch means highlights and local players making it seem to be the only possible ways to get coverage. Do you think adopting things like the IST can help?
Pacers should go all in on Donovan Mitchell now Mitchell for heild, mathurin, Jalen smith, and nembhard and a 2028 first and a 2030 first top 8 protected.
I think charges are a great thing that provide players who are less purely talented to affect the game on another level. Speaking of like dangers for players like ja morant hes taking that inherent risk trying to jump over and on top of people. Half of the times he goes for a poster its not a natural basketball movement when he just throws his body into a crowd or a 7 footer. Theres risk with going up like that
If you don’t like charges then you don’t like the defensive side of the game. Freak accidents are indeed scary but they are rare. Banning something for limited potential of injury then you might as well ban dunking and defense entirely
Kevin Durant told the Nets that he would stay if they get Pascal S.... interesting..He and the Pacers will get to the Eastern conference finals... Pascal is about to go to another level because of the right team he is on.. WOW!
Hey Kenny - great episode as always. Just wanted to provide some context to that Scottie Barnes net rating without Siakam. Raptors have a Scottie + Bench lineup they've been using all season which has negatively contributed to his +/- because our bench is ass lmao. So that's why it looks so bad
Maybe CJ is the best player for his whole career to never make an All-Star game but the best player from the last couple years is Jamal Murray. Unfortunately he only scores a ton of points in the playoffs which is good for his team but not good for his All-Star selection case. That guy really needs to be picked for that this year but it doesn't look like it is going to happen.😢
Love the move. Its never been about this year for the Pacers. Haliburton, Siakem, Mathurin, Turner, and Nesmith is going to be a DIRTY core moving forward. Just gotta wait for Mathurin and Nesmith to develop a bit more which they will.
#AskKB KB as you start getting more into soccer how would you feel about the NBA taking on more of a soccer schedule. What if we cut down the regular season and made the in-season tourney bigger, had a regular season tournament winner and then waited like 3 weeks, and then had the playoffs for the Larry o b. I know fans would be harsh to it at first, but we could stretch the NBA season out longer and have way more games that matter bc every regular season game would be very important.
#askKB, I’m currently a film major in college and I’m taking a class that teaches us how documentaries are filmed. After seeing the Last Dance, who are some players or teams that you think we will get a documentary or documentary series for?
#AskKB whats your opinion on what the nba will look like 5-10 years from now a very broad question but just curious on what you could see possible for the future
#AskKB What is your definition of the word “prime”? How long is the ideal length when discussing a player’s prime? As an example, look at LeBron and Steph, what were the exact years of their “prime”? What is the window years wise?
As much as I respect CJ McCollum I think Jamal Murray is a better player who’s never made an all star team. He could make it this year or in the future but as it stands I think he’s better based off postseason resume and achievements (CJ has never been the second option on a finals team, let alone a championship team)
I have a hunch that the Pacers are going to target Paul George and OG Anunoby in the offseason providing they don’t re-sign with their respective teams. There is no way Indiana doesn’t have plans to add another all star caliber SG or SF. Keep in mind that keeping their young talent also means keeping their cheap contracts on the books.
@@springheeledjack165 OG and Paul George like the comment you’re replying to. TJ Mcconnell is doing pretty fine at backup point guard, depth is not our issue here at all we need star power because pascal can’t be our only wing guy
@Sushigh0st You're unrealistic. When in the franchise history has any star free agent choose Indiana? And yea TJ is a fine backup pg, but Nembhard is not. It's not 2k man.
Funny enough, four 1sts (all super late and a swap), bench and players they would not resign... for multiple years of DPOY Rudy Gobert. 'Worst trade of all time' 'Ruined the market' Only piece of true value was Kesler Walker, who nobody knew was going to be that. And even he has not had the year that he did before. While Min is 1st in West, 1st Defense, and Gobert is DPOY fave. Well, now it looks like the Mitchell trade was much worse. Even ATL gave up more for Murray, and talk about trading him already. And now this trade.. 3 firsts for a expiring contract, being called a good trade, even though they are late firsts as well lol. Its almost as analysts don't know as much as the FO's lol. Give Kenny his CREDIT. He did not bash this like many others did. Kenny is ahead of his time!
@@Keedz Also shows that the fans and analysts are realizing that FOs are putting much less value on late 1st rounders now too. Every trade has been multiple sure to be late 1st rounders. Mitchell, Murray, Gobert, KD, Pascal.. and it all started before the Gobert trade.. Starting to sound like its simply because those people do not like Gobert.
Since Pascal is an all NBA player, or at least he has been in the past, doesn't that entitle him to the supermax? I don't know when they have to pay Tyrese Halliburton but at some point they're going to start running out of money for that third guy. How many big contracts can a team handle these days with the new cap space? It shows the value of those 20 million dollar players like Bobby Marks says. The Aaron Gordon type, though I'm not sure how much he is actually paid per season.
He said he wanted to stay in Toronto and wouldn't re sign with the team he's traded to, He really just wanted a supermax from Raptors. Now that he's traded and not eligible for a supermax, he immediately says he's willing to work with the pacers. He just wants to get paid maximally through bird rights. Follow the money.
#AskKB what do you think is more valuable two key starters or a low level all star and to add on what is more valuable two all stars for example savings and fox or an all nba player like Shai Gilgeous Alexander
#AskKB seeing you interact with charlie on twitter a couple of weeks ago got me shook. Who are your favorite non-sports content creator/youtubers to watch on your free time?
I get that Toronto wanted to build around Scotty Barnes but it does make you wonder why they were hesitant to give the big payday to Pascal Siakim? Having those two guys is a pretty good core and you have to wonder if they didn't think that that was something that could work in the end even with adding some new pieces. It wasn't working great this season but if they had gone out and gotten that third guy maybe it would have? Oh yeah I forgot that they were probably working on keeping younger players so that they could grow and develop with Barnes. Sorry I may have answered my own question. LOL
Pascal was never THE guy in Toronto, and Scottie isn’t the dominant scorer to be THE guy right now. Pascal is also nearly 30 so he doesn’t really fit the timeline the raptors are in. Hali can definitely be THE guy and pascal will be a nice robin for him but they need to make another move
@@Keedz they'll probably pick up somebody but I hope they don't spend all their money on a star and lose a lot of that young talent. I think it'd be smart to not do anything this year and see how well these guys play together and then if you're going to do something make a move next year. They have some pieces that might be really good by next year so I hope they don't go overboard because I like this team's young core and I don't want to see them fall into that trap.
@@illDefine1 I think he's good enough to get a really big contract and I think he deserves it. He's been playing on a mediocre team and I think he might really shine having a player like halliburton next to him. He hasn't played with a real guard this entire season.
I think you could do live tv you said yourself you’re more energetic on camera and you constantly rise to the occasion with progressively increasing eyes and intensity on you. Your dyslexia may slow you down a bit but I don’t think youre cooked
#askkb so i was wondering other then curry we haven't see a guard win a chip since wade. do you think its really possible to win a ring with a smaller guard or even a sg. if you look at the finals only mj,kobe, dwade and curry have really carried a team, it seems like only top 10 players can do it other then wade. so i guess can a pg/sg win a chip as the best play without a doubt. also kenny love the work man
Probably not true but imagine if siakam and the raptors made an agreement where they trade him just for him to come back at the end of his contract, they get the picks and players and he gets the money he wants, essencialy fleecing the pacers

MORE PRODUCER GREG #MoreGreg
I really don’t see how the Pacers could be below the Heat, Knicks, and Cavs. They’re been just as good if not better than those teams without Siakam.
#AskKB whats your opinion on what the nba will look like 5-10 years from now a very broad question but just curious on what you could see possible for the future
I would say that Jamal Murray is the best active player to never have made an All-Star game.
#AskKB What is your definition of the word “prime”? How long is the ideal length when discussing a player’s prime? As an example, look at LeBron and Steph, what were the exact years of their “prime”? What is the window years wise?
your video needs timestamps
25:30 do you by chance not consider Kawhi Leonard a top 5 raptor of all time?
No better way to finish the work day
As much as I respect CJ McCollum I think Jamal Murray is a better player who’s never made an all star team. He could make it this year or in the future but as it stands I think he’s better based off postseason resume and achievements (CJ has never been the second option on a finals team, let alone a championship team)
NEW EPISODE BABYYYY
#askKB. Kenny, we know you love defense. With that being said, is Herb Jones the next non big man to win DPOY? His defense has been insane.
No they already got who they wanted. They will look to add another point guard though.
@@springheeledjack165?? You think the pacers got what they wanted at wing and NOT at Point Guard?? The fuck???
@Sushigh0st Siakam fits with what they are doing. Whom else would be a realistic possible? And yes they need another point guard, Nembhard is not it.
Even though Jokic didn't have his best game he still had more than 20 rebounds in that matchup.😊
Yeah it’s kinda crazy the turnaround gobert had had from last year. It was unfair to judge off half a season. It doesn’t look as crazy now
@@Keedz Also shows that the fans and analysts are realizing that FOs are putting much less value on late 1st rounders now too. Every trade has been multiple sure to be late 1st rounders. Mitchell, Murray, Gobert, KD, Pascal.. and it all started before the Gobert trade..
Starting to sound like its simply because those people do not like Gobert.
2:55 did y’all look at sabonis like this last year? I feel like sabonis is under rated.
Utah getting somebody
52:26 that’s how ant got hurt in a game against okc.
41 pts from Joel give 20pts to the ref
jamal murray is at the moment the best non all star player
If standing in the way of a player and putting your hands on your nuts isn't basketball what does that make screens
Getting beat has nothing to do with taking a charge
Ain’t no way Pascal is top 5 Toronto Raptor of all time.
1. Kawhi
2. Demar
3. V. Carter
4. Bosh
5. Lowry
He is 6th though
u gotta put timestamps on this bruh
LOL
He's about to be the most overpaid/untradeable player in the league. Unless you're a contender, this can kill a franchise.
I think Bruce Brown is an underrated asset for that young team in Toronto
A nice trade asset
@@EnZo7992 eventually, I think they need some leaders in that locker room for the time being too though

Pacers are better than cavs and Knicks
Fully healthy cavs? Debatable. Knicks are tough to beat when they’re healthy too. Would you say pacers are better than Heat?
@@Keedz i think heat and Boston are the only problems for Indiana if they mesh well
@@Keedz they’ve already beaten the healthy Cavs and the non-healthy Cavs too. 1-0 against the Knicks. 1-1 against the heat.
#AskKb do you think Isaiah Thomas will ever get picked up again and what happens with the through the wire Chanel?
#askKB Since you the og kot4q, what players this season have been the kings of the 4th quarter
#askKB if Jayson Tatum stays healthy and on the celtics for the rest of his career, could he be in the greatest celtic of all time conversation?
He's gotta win
I think you could do live tv you said yourself you’re more energetic on camera and you constantly rise to the occasion with progressively increasing eyes and intensity on you. Your dyslexia may slow you down a bit but I don’t think youre cooked
#askkb so i was wondering other then curry we haven't see a guard win a chip since wade. do you think its really possible to win a ring with a smaller guard or even a sg. if you look at the finals only mj,kobe, dwade and curry have really carried a team, it seems like only top 10 players can do it other then wade. so i guess can a pg/sg win a chip as the best play without a doubt. also kenny love the work man
Kobe did it after wade but ye doesn’t happen often
lol fax forgot about kobe @@elfojo6785
Probably not true but imagine if siakam and the raptors made an agreement where they trade him just for him to come back at the end of his contract, they get the picks and players and he gets the money he wants, essencialy fleecing the pacers
There’s a rule where they can’t do that. He would have to go to another team after the Pacers before he could go back to the Raptors
@@taj3618 aaah I see didnt know that at all lol
Nwora gon become a guy in Toronto
after the clippers lose like usual paul george opts out his deal to return to indiana. or at least that’s what happened in myleague
......Siakam might be coming to the Pacers, but in the meantime, their losing streak is gaining momentum. why do they keep losing games?
How is Kawhi not a top 5 raptor
What you do with not watching the ball is my exact approach to watching boxing.
True. You can learn a ton from looking at the crowd.

Scotty set up siakam so often. I think this was a mistake comment.
joel don’t play in denver bc he will be too tired by halftime and get dogged by jokic
Sixers hate is crazy, they clearly better than the bucks and its not close.
