Best part is that Angron hates being remembered as the coward that abandoned his friends and now Perturabo mocked him by saying that he was a coward for selling his soul even tho Lorgar was the one who sold him.
*Rounds rip into Angron’s flesh, tearing huge chunks of flesh. His wounds knitting together as he charges his brother* So Angron charge fail, overwatch for Iron Warriors, Angron successful saves wounds, invulnerability save for Perturabo successful, Ya this sounds like my average tabletop session
Plot twist, when Perty returns to the tabletop he’ll have an ability to halt a charge with a barrage of fire or can overwatch for free once a turn. If he can stop an angry Angron charge I’m not sure what’s worse than that 😭
Kharn doesn't get enough credit for keeping what little self control he had longer than most of his XII Legion brothers despite being among the first to successfully receive the nails.
His conversion to Khorne worship seemed too easy to me. He was busy trying to keep the Legion together, then suddenly he's all in with no obvious cause given.
@@headlibrarian1996 i think the cause was the frustration like: fuckin bros don't give a shit about the legion, my only good friend was killed by a word bearer molester, sissy brothers and cousins too chilly to even FIGHT FOR THE GOD THEY PLEDGED THEMSELVES TO Like teach'em a lesson sort of thing
I think the death of Argel Tal was one of the key factors that truly pushed Khârn over the edge. Argel Tal was one of Khârns last true remaining battle brothers, someone he could rely on and reminded him of the glory days of the Legions, and with his death at the hands of Erebus, Khârn no longer has that stabilizing factor by his side, instead hes left with Daemon Angron and a Legion dedicated fully to bloodshed and slaughter. Unsurprising that he fell to the worship of Khorne.
Perturabo succumbing to Chaos makes even less sense now unless he is using the power of the Chaos Gods for his own means, imagine what he can create with the knowledge obtained from Chaos and with the mind powerful enough not to be consumed by it, no fucking way is he surrendering his own will for power...
It is implied that is the case, he “uses” Chaos for his own ends, though using Chaos is kinda an oxymoron because once Chaos you always be their pawn, specially if Tzeentch is there.
@@NueThunderKing Plans within plans. Chaos can let him "use" them as long as they corrupt him, and he is described as an Obliterator, so they have already sorta won that. In the end, all they have to do is put him in his place once it's all over and it's a ultimate Chaos Victory. Besides Perty has always been kinda a massive hypocrite, he probably doesn't even fully realize how much of his speech there applies doubly to himself.
I miss the old style Martial Khorne...Slaughtering innocents was unworthy, in the older Canon. Khorne wanted only worthy blood, worthy warriors - Not just skulls and blood but specific Blood and skulls...Khorne distained the murder of innoncents as unworthy of a warrior.
@@randomcenturion7264 I am working on a Space Marine Force that does just that....I really like the idea of "We know we are doomed; Khorne will have us all eventually! But until then, we will fight off madness and debauchery by being honorable! Whoever takes up arms is an enemy worthy of slaughter, whoever surrenders is not!" That could be a really cool story; but I am way to bad at writing to make that happen :-/
Lorgar: i love you too much my dear bro Angron i can't stand seeing you in pain Angron: i have cables in my brain just let me die Lorgar: NONSENSE! you are gonna be an immortal demon and you are gonna like it!
Iron Warriors are one of the armies I would love to pick up. Perturabo seems brilliant. No mutations, no help, just really hard warriors breaking everyone asses.
@Roger Abernathy Yeah but Iron Hands were always repulsive to me with those augmentations all the time. It's actually super lame... You are an Adeptus Astartes - you're badass as you are and they were behaving like some damn basic humans replacing their limbs for machine ones... 'Flesh is weak'... Whoever loves them should just go to Mechanicum. At least those guys have a reason to do this. I would rather choose traitorous Word Bearers than go for Iron Hands xD
D nottelling personally, as an Aspie myself, that’s what he feels like? Like, specifically that area of the spectrum. Being actually highly emotional, but shutting down into analytics when faced with stress or hardship? And when not stressed, being unable to communicate those emotions because you don’t understand them the same way as others do? The description on that page of him being faced with the crusade, and giving into the numbers game out of despair, effectively, is something I’ve felt, though happily never in such dire circumstance, just in, like, games and shit.
The World Eaters are incredibly badass but it's because they are totally undisciplined and consumed with rage that I personally believe they will never live to overthrow the imperium. It's all well and good for Khrone demons that can be remade in the warp, but once a world eater dies they're gone...and they die all too easily
@@oditeomnes they probably get away with this through warp shenanigans. Example; "This group was around during the 30k heresy, took one warp jump and now they are in 40k, so almost no time has passed. Also, another version of them were spat out of the warp and razed a few planets to cinders back in M35. Warp duplicate shenanigans and whatnot. Honestly, I like this idea because the warp is not supposed to make sense. Having a bunch of the same person fight alongside themselves or star systems apart is entertaining to me.
@@gustadood9166 It is possible that this is mostly the downside of many authors at work. We have texts describing recruitment among traitor legions and how incredibly valuable geneseed is to them that is not corrupted to the point of uselessness, yet we also have the procedure of chaos owing souls of the traitors and literally can obliterate them and reform them at will. My theory is that in order to patch up the inconsistencies we have the famous warp shenanigans where time holds no meaning. It allows the Chaos to get away with otherwise inconsistent fluff.
Perturabo is most definitely Horus’ best weapon. He’s cold, calculating, and vicious with a kind of patient, calm, but yet spiteful demeanor. Also a tactical and strategic mastermind. I would hold Perturabo in regards with his brother Horus in my opinion.
Faced with his brother transformed into a giant avatar of carnage, with both the ability and hunger to slaughter billions, Perturabo has only one thing to say: "Next configuration." What an absolute fucking badass.
Brother against brother , both falling to darkness . "no longer made by ancient science " but made slaves by the ruinous powers and the battles they lead and the words they spoke along the way.
This is one of the best final scenes of the Heresy. I read this part over & over, absolutely loved it. It showed how Perturabo de-constructs the threat of Angron & the World eaters long before they even engage.
Warhammer Badly yeah, like any other legion would have a field day with them just barely outsmarting the blood thirsty idiots. They seem more like a complement to any other heretic legion rather than a true threat on their own. All save Kharn of course, the dude is as angry as any Khorne daemon, but it manages to contain it enough to form speech or think about a barely competent plan.
poor angron. he really is a tragedy stricken villain. he never got to make the most important decisions in his life. he was always robbed of choice. he was enslaved. given a horrible implant. he was taken from his city eaters who he wished to die fighting alongside and that hurt him so much. in the novel betrayer, he actually cries when he visits the battleground where the city eaters died. its a sad scene. on top of all of that his implant is slowly killing him, and he doesnt care but lorgar robs him of that choice just like all of the other choices in his life. he didnt agree to become a demon prince lorgar did it he says to save his life out of love.... but thats only half true. angrons story is most definitely a tragedy
I think there's so much more that just pisses me off. The Emperor wasn't just a shit dad he was actively antagonizing. To what is supposed to be his living empathy personified. He treated his most emotionally caring by default children like a tool. Was this to make a point about how the emperor hates his empathy? He was set up for failure and managed to survive by will power and raw strength. He would have his slave friends and family link arms so he could tank all their pain and suffering to let them sleep comfortably. He was then forced to watch those people die while what might as well be literal god sits there and does nothing. And that's why he treats his kids the same way. The world eaters are just a tool and all they want is dads approval. But you can't keep up with dad till you implant the butcher's dreadlocks. And even then he just tolerates them after.
Now i wonder how and why did he ascend after the battle of the Iron Cage. Wouldn't mind a short story on that. Also wonder if his ascension actually made him any stronger, except for an ability to regenerate his armor and summon daemonic hookers whenever he wants.
Given his character, would he be so weak to become a demon? Because if Rogal still lives...I can see him wanting to do the deed with his bare hands, his own strength and will. To finally stand over his brother and torment him till Dorn breaks, and prove to himself he was superior. If he did so as a demon, it would rob him of that satisfaction...where all the power and strength he uses, would be as a slave to 4 masters...instead of just one like Angron. Cowed, bowed and a rusted out husk of the being he once was..and his victory, would ring as hollow as the void Chaos Gods left behind in the place of his soul.
Big time ! It makes far more sense that Perturabo didn’t sell his souls to become a daemon , he hates the gods and the daemon primarchs as weak for succumbing to the chaos powers . Hopefully they do that retcon it would be far more interesting
Perturabo sounds like an angry paladin of the Mechanicus. He reforges the weakness out of himself. But as we all know, even the mightiest materials have a limited tensile strength. When that is hit, he will deform and he will break. But that aside, the prose describing these scenes is just superb, a tremendous job by the author.
The sad and tragic irony of perturabo's statement to Angron about him selling out his power is the fact that Angron didn't have a choice. Magnus (correction: Lorgar) and to an extent the Emperor made it for him. While perturabo himself actually chose to out of fear and shame.
@17mindgate It's not clear to me that a Chaos God can ascend you without your consent. Yes, Lorgar unleashed the warp upon Angron, but I believe Angron had to consent, however ill-informed he was, to the transformation, otherwise he just would have been killed by it. I'm sure Khorne made his pitch while Angron was held immobile by Lorgar's spell.
@@headlibrarian1996 pretty sure all Khorne had to do while "talking" with Angron while under the spell was say "hey"......."blood for the blood god?" And their is only one obvious answer when asked that question and its one Angron knows all too well
Out of Fear and shame? He destroyed one of loyalist chapters almost entirely in Iron Cage, sacrificed more then 400 geneseeds to chaos gods. It was a gift for Chaos Gods and that allowed him to ascend. He was sucessful and that allowed him to ascend.
John French isn't one of my favorite writers, but I have to admit, the man's got prose. He knows how to write an environment and set a proper, multilayered conflict.
Was honestly shocked to see him actually do Perturabo justice. In the past, his writing on Pert was some of the weakest out of the entire Black Library stable of writers.
Literally just read the short story 'Lord of the Red Sands'- a sort of Angron inner monologue and actually shed a tear (tbf might have been the gin). Way more invested in his character now.
Then don't read khairns back story , it will break you its so sad and well written, I'm not going to say I cried but as you read you know what he turns into but still I hoped somehow he would not fall but he really had no choice
@Cian Abroad read the master of mankind , he did try even asked for help but the nails replaced parts of his brain and can't be removed. Plus it's a great read
Would have been interesting if instead of going demon perturabo had retreats to some remote part of the galaxy and founded his own empirium to invade from
@@brandonhughes4571 We just need to wait until GW can bring Malal into 40k as an official Chaos god and give the Iron Warriors over to him. 'The god of he who serves that which he hates', the perfect fit for the Iron Warriors temperament and view of the chaos pantheon.
After watching this I want to make an animation of this. Perturabo nodding as the iron circle locks up around him and the iron warriors going to their barricades as the horde of world eaters comes towards their beachhead. Thats AAA movie material right there, awesome
And on Armageddon, Angron almost took out an entire Brotherhood of Grey Knights and a shit ton of Space Wolves before going down. There's a lot of people pissing on Angron nowadays, however the dude is a warmachine and as i too read this, I finally gave Perturabo a salute of honor. The guy single handed took down the REAL World Eaters legion along with its Primarch and certain people call Perturabo weak? Perturabo might be cold and a Chaos worshipping heretic, however it takes more than to face a certain daemonic brother and his bloodthirsty legion all by himself head on. (I know he was joined by his legion as well.) I agree Rho, the showdown with Sanguinius is going to be legendary. Sanguinius beyond any doubt was the best in regards of dueling while also being an incredible psyker, him and Angron are going to have a battle of the ages for sure.
Didnt he had like 12 elite bloodthirsters and a horde of lesser daemons along back on armageddon? A bloodthirster alone can fuck up quite a couple of grey knights without much issues... Angron might be a warmachine but a fuckload of cannonfodder can go a long way in distracting your enemy... Not to mention a bloodthirster... If the one on vraks was anything to go by.
Angron is the definition of a berserker; he's a fire and forget type of weapon. Where Mortarion and Perturabo are the anvil of Horus, Angron is the hammer.
@@Psychoangel-d23 He had a bodyguard of 8 Bloodthirsters if i recall, if its 12 and a ton of meatshields to boot that still makes it nothing compared to the 109 Grey Knights and Space Wolves. A whole Brotherhood but some few survived the carnage and Grey Knights are bad shit insane already, plus they are the only ever astartes gifted with the emperor's own gene pool, while also being warriors of legend and extreme psykers. The First War of Armageddon didn't even end on the planet itself, Khorne laughed for decades later out of the main factor that a certain inquisitor down right murdered people and made war on the Wolves of Fenris. It all essence here, Angron is no joke to have murder thousands of astartes to suddenly be meet by an entire Brotherhood. And that's not even the end of it since cultist tried to summon back into real space during the 13th Black Crusade as well, which i hope GW's new serie add some bits towards rather than just leaving a small bit of reading for the loreseekers. Also to note on the sense of making Bloodthirsters "over the top", narrative wise they were thrown aside like nothing, just like the day to day Avatar of Khaine is nowadays. It is Warhammer through and through though.
@@uncanny_R Beyond any doubt. Angron is the rage monster you want to unleash to wrack serious damage to any foe, be that either small or large Angron will still be able to rip things apart. I mean the dude is a freaking Daemon Primarch, that is like beyond anything we know of Daemon Princes and high ranking Bloodthirsters.
Iam pretty sure angron as mortal would be a more even match against the angel. As demon angron bears more weakness in him as strength and sanguinius knows how to fight demons aka khabanda. Angron is my fav primarch but iam pretty sure sanguinius will beat him now as demon primarch before lorgar stated that only 2 can face the angel with a chance to win...Mortal Angron and warmaster horus.
Its hard to say. Messing with the Raven Guard's super soldiers could be seen as outright traitorous, but also those soldiers were genetically unstable, so you could see it as them helping the Imperium in a way.
they are 100 % traitors. after both primarchs were killed they went insane. most longer carrying the code the old alpha legion carried. in fact in the new alpha legion novel. the pathetic traitors are so out of sorts. that new members literally dont even recognize actual Alpha legion as alpha legion and it's new marines from other legions that actually carry the spirit of the old legion
As much as my Imperial Fist heart distastes Perturabo, I gotta say he’s spot on with his assessment of Angron’s power. Angron is nothing more now than a slave to rage and anger incarnate. His master is the one pulling all the strings, and I’m pretty sure Khorne is extremely disappointed in Angron because he’s been (on a relative scale) nearly useless as far as the Great Game or the Long War are concerned. The most recent big play Angron had, was the First War of Armageddon, and that failed so spectacularly that even after his banishment time was up, Khorne was like “...nah you’re just gonna stay in the naughty box until I say you can leave,” and then went on to give Kharn more head pats. It really is part of the great sadness of Angron’s character though as he was once rightfully one of the most feared cqc combatants in the Imperium, but now...all he remains is an eternal slave to anger and bloodlust, chained and never to be released unless on a leash.
I think this fight portrays how much of a double-edged sword the chaos gift a demon hood really is. They grant you "their" power and people seem to take it as their own. It's not. That power can be taken away, which leaves the host much weaker then if they ever took it at all. It's like selling your soul for those inflatable arm muscles. Also, no matter how long they are a demon, the effect still applies, it's not their own power but their masters. I wonder what a loyal Primarch that has been active for 10,000 years would have developed into.
Agreed. Plus the Emperor's overall treatment towards Angron is just straight up crappy. No attempt at saving his gladiator brothers & sisters, barely any hint of trying to deal with the Butcher's nails, no attempt at being a father figure as compared to the other Primarchs.
One of the things that the ...Primarchs... eacg represented the pinnicle of a single aspect of war. Between the Khan becoming one with the speed God, to Angron's singular rage, each one has their "foil" within the 20. for every #1, there was 1 guy (or 3) who could easily drop him "using" his singular perfect gift against him. Perturabo found his foil in Dorn and Magnus, while not so super specialized Primarchs could drop them in turn. It was a complex web of checks and balances that Big E played.
Or the writers keep moving the power levels up and down to facilitate the story they want to tell this week. Kind of like comic book power levels. I think the emperor did intentionally make the primarchs different but he never balanced them for pvp. He never wanted them to fight against each other. They were supposed to be brothers. Yes, he did intend for the Space Wolves to be the enforcers but I don't think he ever imagined an event like the Horus Heresy could happen.
Takk you so much Rho, i always loved Perturabo. But your Iron Warriors week and this video made med respect him som much more. He truly is a complex one
Unpopular opinion: Perturabo should have been made Warmaster. He would have resisted Chaos and no one would be jealous of him because no one gave a shit about him. Should the another Primarch start a rebellion he'd have dealt with them properly like he dealt with Anggron.
The thing that sells this fight to me, is the underlying fact, that Angron is running out of power throughout the fight. I love Perturabo, but in a straight fight, he should never be able to beat Angron, but this is exactly the kind of fight, he could win. Playing smart, using extra weapons and help, and withstanding Angrons unquestionablyhigher Damage output and power long enough for him to run out of warp stuff.
Angron is overrated a lot. This is a guy that would dig himself into holes and had to be bailed out by Lorgar of all people. He was taught a lesson by Leman Russ and allowed to live because Russ didn't want to kill another brother but Angron was too dull to understand what happened. He was also being successfully fought off by Gulliman in a 2v1 with Lorgar helping him until he turned into a demon prince. When Dorn is appraising the enemy primarchs he admits that its Perturbo he is afraid of not angron. He notes he would smash Angrons skull. Meanwhile Perturbo defeated demon Fulgrim while being drained of his power. Demon Fulgrim admits that Perturbo is probably the mightiest of the Primarchs. Angron is that guy that "gets real mad bro" and windmill punches but gets KOed anytime he fights someone who knows what they are doing.
@@Moadar wow, I can see, that you clearly have read some of the lore, but I must say, that you get almost everything wrong. 1; Yes Russ outmanoeuvred Angron in their confrontation, but Angron won the actual one on one fight. Russ could indeed have had Angron gunned down afterwards, but not only did Angron never give a shit about dying that way (ie. Undefeated in single combat) but Russ did not have permission to do that by the Emperor. Russ won tactically, but Angron won the only fight he wanted to. 2; Guilliman did manage to briefly survive against Lorgar and Angron, after having fought Lorgar to a draw, but as Lorgar withdrew from the fight to prepare a ritual, Angron gained the upper hand, and in the end he had Guilliman on one knee preparing to strike the killing blow. Lorgar then paralysed Angron, saving Guillmans life and using Angrons rage of being denied the kill to turn him in to a Demon Primarch. The wounded Guilliman fleed. All of this is in the book Betrayer. 3; You reference Dorn and Malcadors conversation in the lighting tower/dark king short stories, but the point of that conversation was, that Dorn only feared either Konrad Curze or learning, that Horus was justified in his rebellion. Your reference was very misleading. 4; Perturabo never fought Demon Fulgrim, he hits Fulgrim ones with forgebreaker, and that is the final trigger for Fulgrims Ascension. Fulgrim praises Perturabo's great strength, fortitude and dreams, not his overall martial superiority. In the entire Lore, Angron has as fare as I know only lost one semi one vs one, and that is this Perturabo fight, my first comment outline why Perturabo earned that win. I hope you take my comment in good faith, I don't mean to offend you.
@@Kristian.B.Kristiansen Very much agree with your points. If anything it seems like the cool thing now to UNDERRATE Angron and overrate Perturabo. I like them both as characters, but I think people sort of fall for the "He's so intelligent and brutal" aspect of Pert that they overplay him a lot.
@@Kristian.B.Kristiansen 1. From what I remember it seemed to me Russ was allowing Angron to win in order to draw him away from his forces. Russ flat out admitted he didn't want to kill Angron just teach him a lesson. 2. Ill have to reread it but I remember Lorgar starting to panic when Gulliman was pushing him and Angron back. I know the power of chaos then picked up and Lorgar was able to weave it into the ritual for Angrons change. 3. It wasn't from that short story. Its from a more recent one I think. It was Dorns own thoughts about why he was nervous about the coming fight. He specifically points out he would beat Angron and its Perturbo that makes him worried. 4.Ill have to redownload this book but I thought they did fight after Fulgrim turned. It was after they were in Perturabos dream city. Been awhile since Ive read it. You could be right. No offense taken. I love talking 40k stuff. Been so long since I have gotten to.
@@Moadar 1; That is a matter of interpretation. Angron tells us the story, and to him, there is no doubt he won their duel. Their weapons smashed, the two grappled and rolled on the ground. Angron came out ahead, Russ having to crawl away. Sidenote; Russ later admits, that coming there was foolish, and just him playing the Emperor's executioner a little to much. Big E did not care enough to send someone officially. 2; I have just reread the relevant parts of Betrayer. Guillman and Lorgar fights to a "deathlock". Angron arrives, attacks Guilliman. Lorgar DOES NOT fight Guilliman with Angron at all, but right away begins his ritual. He is NEVER worried about Angrons chances, Angron presses Guilliman back, is almost definitely the better fighter and unquestionably the stronger Primarch. Guillman is forced to one knee. Lorgar paralysed Angron saving Guilliman. 3;I don't think I am wrong here, but please find the book or short stories you are referring to. It doesn't really matter anyway. Dorn could be wrong. Guillman thought himself in the top 5 primarchs in fight strength, and then got slammed on his ass by Kor Pheraon in Know no Fear. 4; I have reread the relevant parts of Angels Exterminatus. Perturabo gets his stole power back, when ninja raven guard destroys the essence stealer stone, He smash Fulgrim with Forgebreaker, and Fulgrim goes full Snakegrim. And then they part ways. No epic final dual. I do love that book, because it does a lot to wash away the stain of the shit novella; Crimson Fist. It does both the 3th and 4th Primarch justice.
Considering Perturabo's belittling of Angron's "stolen power", I find it odd that he himself became a Daemon Primarch. Why would he accept those "Chains"?
Christian Yaerger hypocrisy is not lost on even the most smart beings out there. Its easier to tell lies to yourself than accept the truth of hour fuckups.
Cannon? The Angel Exterminatus damaged his soul, so he could either let his soul wither and die or he could try to avert that. Daemonhood was a solution, though perhaps not the best one. Truth be told though, I hope they retcon Perturabo's ascension. Meaning: instead of sacrificing Imperial Fist geneseed during the battle of the Iron Cage, they have him master the Forge of Souls or something.
This is one of your best vids Wolf Lord, from the content to how engaged you sounded to the awesome picture of Angron. As far as content, I'm still shocked Perturabo won that fight...he has been one of the most overlooked Primarchs that is growing on me as time goes on. Granted, Russ would smack him down...but still, thumbs up from me!
Something I just read in The Lost and the Damned, as Perturabo finally arrived on the Vengeful Spirit in orbit over Terra: “Already a master of the material sciences, he coveted the power of the warp. He saw the possibilities beyond anything his genius could accomplish were it to remain shackled to the materium. But he was wary. His investigations were thorough. He would not follow his brothers into damnation and throw himself blindly upon the mercies of the gods, but circumvent them altogether and become a god himself.”
It happened for very different reasons, and Perturabo was always resistant to it for a very long time. He hated his brothers for succumbing initially, but then felt like he had no other choice. It was when he recognized his own brutality that he realized he may have already succumb. That's the point with Chaos: always tempting, luring, deceiving, and misleading without you even being aware. Human minds are the most ambitious of all races, while also fearing mortality the most, hence they are the most susceptible to the draw of short-term gains. Also, hypocrisy is commonplace in the human way of thinking, and Perturabo is no exception.
There is an imperial channel that always bashes on the iron warriors but the way they have written this legion is amazing .... you see how complex there Primarch and legion really is great coverage of this fight and has a iron warriors player since 1997 you made this old man smile keep up the great work !
I would love an Angron week. Beyond that though I just wanted to dip into here to tell you that I absolutely love your channel. I only found this recently myself and I have been digging through your archives and watching so many of your videos. You do a wonderful job and I wanted to say thank you for doing such an excellent job.
I still can’t see Angron as a straight bloodthirster in his daemonhood. Fulgrim did maintain some aspects of his mortal self and when reading the novels I can’t imagine anything other that the Red Angels face snarling through. I think this was a miss on the authors interpretation.
So did Angron, that's why he still has the Butcher's Nails. They're so integral to his self-concept that they are part of his daemonic form (or they're a cosmic joke by Khorne).
You read with such emphasis and set the scenes incredibly well dude. Would you ever consider doing a full reading of the novels rather than just small snippets?
This is a great story for Perturabo but honestly I wish they'd give more moments where Angron is given the credit he's due as an unstoppable killing machine. This story makes me think of how Bloodthirsters act as the measurement for the strength of someone else, same as Hive Tyrants and Avatars of Khaine. I'd love to see a story where Angron is given a Kharn treatment.
Angron may be the most tragic primarch because he had every bit of choice and purpose in his life taken from him at every turn to make him into this hollow caricature.
I just watched your video on Perturabo rejecting Nurgle yesterday, very glad to see this one up today. Wolf Lord Rho, you’re finally up there like Leutin as one of the best readers for Warhammer Lore. Keep up the good work.
Man I love Perturabo! I didn't really know much about him before, just the basics, but I'm really starting to dig the IW the more I hear about them and their primarch.
One idea came to mind for me recently. Something related to the stories/rumors of what happened to Corvus Corax after the Heresy - where during his time in exile in the Warp on his hunt for Lorgar, Corvus came into and unlocked his true Inner Warp Power. Thus allowing him to become something akin to a Loyalist Demon Primarch in nature. What if Perturabo did the same himself? Instead of selling his soul to the Ruinous Powers to become a Demon Prince of Chaos Undivided, through sheer unflinching willpower and spite, Perturabo managed to tap into his own true Inner Warp Power that all Primarchs possess like him and Corvus. Thus allowing him to evolve into a Renegade Demon Prince - a being who doesn't answer to Chaos or the Emperor.
I think him winning makes sense. Hell if Russ wanted to he could've had Angron too. Angron may have rage and muscle but when such things are mindless, it leads to defeat
Russ crawled away from Angron, Russ attacked Angron first. Angron threw Russ back, Angron had a conversation with Russ before they fought. Russ lost, and fled with his tail tucked.
@@worldeater2414 Russ crawled away and Angron realised he was separated from his legion with hundreds of wolves surrounding him. End of story, he'd have died if Russ willed it.
I think most importantly is that this has meaning going forward in the lore. So - why haven't the Iron Hands tried to get back Forge Breaker? If Perturabo returns as his demon prince self at the end of the Indomitus Crusade/Plague Wars is he a bigger threat than MAgnus? Maybe he seizes the latest blackstone fortress? Maybe he fucks up Abaddon because he can? He's a total wild card. Who could effectively oppose him without raising a full legion of Astartes?
Mortarion beat him up recently I believe. Don’t get me wrong he’d be a serious threat, but the IW aren’t a united legion like the Word Bearers and Abbadon would probably still be a bigger threat overall.
@@techpriestalex8730 I dunno. In my eyes an Angron would sell better than ANY of the others just bc of Khorne. I think Khorne is the most popular already and then add a Primarch to that this gs would go nuts.
Much as I despise the brutality of perturabo, I do love these descriptions of the measured almost mechanical discipline with which his legion shifts between configurations.
Perturabo is becoming a favourite of mine I am an ultramarine by heart but Conrad kurze, Russ and Dorn were favourites aswell until I read more about the Lord of Iron smh totally blown away by this incredible character
It's worth pointing out that Angeron wasn't at full strength during this confrontation because he was close to getting pulled into the Warp by Khorne when Pertuarbo arrived.
Boy i'll be honest. Invest in that ambiance and music. Also sounds like crackling fire or water/rain/wind/blizzard can make these videos so comfortable to watch.
I really love these moments Where the Iron Warriors shine and show just how professionel and deadly they are It really reinforces that these disrespected marines can take on anything
I've always thought Angron was overrated. Perturabo exposes this. Now I'm not really a fan of Perturabo but he does rank top tier amongst Primarchs in most things. Him beating Angron, even daemon prince Angron, doesn't surprise me.
Why should it though? Pert was as much a capable craftsman as Vulkan and Ferrus, was an architect as almost as good as Dorn(but emps likes it in gold or so im told), was a master at logistics like Guilliman(not tactics but logistics), Yet....unlike schizo Konrad Curze, Pertruabo had a literal giant space eye glaring at him(which BTW he didnt imagine), everyone constantly belittling or mocking him(Fulgrim came to regret it for instance), was always denied any glory or credit. He turned our just fine in comparison .....

Probably the most tragic of all the Traitor Primarchs
Bless Angron.
Now I want a soft retcon for Perturabo...not a daemon Primarch but a "original" traitor Primarch. Iron within, Iron without.
Amen.
There is a theory that he is not actually a demon primarch, but rather the wound he got from Fulgrim makes him look the way he does
Perturabo sounds like an angry paladin of the Mechanicus.
"Lorgal"
@Harvey Crewe well said
@17mindgate It's not clear to me that a Chaos God can ascend you without your consent. Yes, Lorgar unleashed the warp upon Angron, but I believe Angron had to consent, however ill-informed he was, to the transformation, otherwise he just would have been killed by it. Alpha legion are traitors. They just didn't decide to side with horus as perturabo did.
Perturabo showed that one of the most powerful weapon against Daemons is "An Armor of Contempt."
I think Perturabo is becoming favorite of the Traitor primarchs
I think this fight portrays how much of a double-edged sword the chaos gift a demon hood really is. They grant you "their" power and people seem to take it as their own. It's not. That power can be taken away, which leaves the host much weaker then if they ever took it at all.
It's like selling your soul for those inflatable arm muscles. Also, no matter how long they are a demon, the effect still applies, it's not their own power but their masters.

@GreatChickenGod The nails and the Emperor’s own failure ensured Angron’s fate.
Agreed. Plus the Emperor's overall treatment towards Angron is just straight up crappy. No attempt at saving his gladiator brothers & sisters, barely any hint of trying to deal with the Butcher's nails, no attempt at being a father figure as compared to the other Primarchs.
The Emperor giving up on him is what doomed him.
@@ReconCrusader doesn't the new lore say it's the primarchs' mother's fault
When its any one confronting Angron my first thought is 'Good Luck' even a brother!

To keep himself alive is my bet.
Besides if the dark gods decide they want something no matter what, there's little that someone, even a primarch, can do
Maybe he believed he could control chaos or something. Or perhaps he fell into madness in time like Konrad
The novel “ betrayer” will give you a lot of the angron back story you are now craving!
Such a great book. Loved seeing the relationship between Kharn and Argel Tal.
Angron: *Spurging out with his sons*
Peter Turbo: "In the name of the 2nd amendment, I cast you out demon!"
Man Perturabo is a beast! The Iron Warriors are quickly becoming one of my favourite traitor legions.
Perturabo is kind of the one primarch Horus can count on to do as planned and not wonder off on some tangent like murdering random worlds.
EPIC! Perturabo & Angron fighting is definitively a clash to remember!
Perturabo going on about Angron being a slave to Chaos is totally worthless when he does it himself.
All the traitor Primarchs will be consumed eventually.
There is an imperial channel that always bashes on the iron warriors but the way they have written this legion is amazing .... you see how complex there Primarch and legion really is great coverage of this fight and has a iron warriors player since 1997 you made this old man smile keep up the great work !
This makes me can't wait for the fight between Daemon Fulgrim and Clone Fulgrim.
Perturabo is a badass. Love his methodical and unyeilding way of warfare.
Cosmic joke sounds about right! Well said
I think the demonic face is pretty cook myself. Would’ve like to see some of his facial tattoos still but I think it works for angron
Yo, just with your first minute of speech. I respect what you had to say. Your recaps are spot on 👍
You read with such emphasis and set the scenes incredibly well dude. Would you ever consider doing a full reading of the novels rather than just small snippets?
Even though this is 4 yrs old, I've been looking forward to this!! He he!
Your videos have made me love Perturabo, hes in my top 3 primarch list.
Angron may be the most tragic primarch because he had every bit of choice and purpose in his life taken from him at every turn to make him into this hollow caricature.
Angron week would be awesome. Keep up the great work!
Thank god, I hoped you’d cover this in more detail after you mentioned it
Angron is built up so you'd think
he is an unstoppable badass but he gets beaten like a bad joke. It's a big annoyance to me
I just watched your video on Perturabo rejecting Nurgle yesterday, very glad to see this one up today.
I only have one thing to say, and one thing only...
IRON WITHIN! IRON WITHOUT!!
I too remember when Angron would destroy Pertuabo's Lego toys.
That Angron picture is badass!
Sweet vid
This was an eye opening fight. New respect for Perterabo.
Would love to see a Mephiston week
Please please do an Angron week that would be bad ass
I would love for you to do Angron week Wolf Lord. I wish to know more about the Red Angel.
This was glorious beyond compare.... brothers IRON WITHIN. !!!!!!!!!!!
Gave me goosebumps. What a fantastic bit of writing.
Him and Abaddon are probably on good terms if the 10th Black Crusade is any indication of where they stand.
If GW ever makes a Demon Angron I bet it will the best selling model they've ever made.
I think you could say that for any new Demon Primarchs model
@@techpriestalex8730 I dunno. In my eyes an Angron would sell better than ANY of the others just bc of Khorne. I think Khorne is the most popular already and then add a Primarch to that this gs would go nuts.
The saddest part about Angron is that he never came to understand the simplest truth about being free; it's ultimately a choice, not a condition.
What an apic battle :) Petrurabo is awesome character. Thank you for that video so much :)
Perty has always has been in my top 3 in every way he is above equals.
Much as I despise the brutality of perturabo, I do love these descriptions of the measured almost mechanical discipline with which his legion shifts between configurations.
Amazing brother.
Well this really puts Perturabo upp there on the top 5 or even top 3. Talk about an underestimated Primarch.
i love listening to this, Perturabo is one of my fave Primarchs and seeing his iron wil beat down an angry man child is awesome!
Perturabo is becoming a favourite of mine I am an ultramarine by heart but Conrad kurze, Russ and Dorn were favourites aswell until I read more about the Lord of Iron smh totally blown away by this incredible character
This is the very stuff that will make me forever love 40k.
Just finished the last video and BAM another one! Fantastic!
Been waiting for you to do this for a few weeks now! This made my night! Tha k you
I really love all your videos, after your Perturabo week I have a new favourite primarch!
Man... your videos make me wishing that perturabo was still a loyal primarch... and fulgrim! Fumgrim was such a noble soul!
I really love these moments
Where the Iron Warriors shine and show just how professionel and deadly they are
It really reinforces that these disrespected marines can take on anything
I would love to see an Angron week! He's in my top 3 best Primarchs ever!
Dont read too much into it. 40k lore is legendary for its inconsistency
cactuS Mann I really like what Perturabo became as a character, but it’s weird seeing just how overplayed he’s become because of it. He has his pros, very intelligent, but he definitely has some real flaws and isn’t some Mary Sue who is superb at everything
@@Smilton444 Thats the point of the character. He isnt Perturabo because he is a mary sue,(cough Abbadork cough) he is Perturabo because everyone in universe thinks he isnt and all that petruabo is, was, and will be is because of spite and bitterness. If the primarchs each represent an aspect of humanity or few (wisdom, knowledge and power, primal rage, stoicism, perfectionism, compassion etc, in their own grimdark way) perturabo presents spite and perseverance.
@@Internetbutthurt Angron was beat by Sanguinius and out maneuvered by Russ as well. He's never been as good with tactics or logistics as his brothers, he doesn't build or create anything, he doesn't adapt he just keeps trying to beat everything with a boulder. No Angron IS overrated and the lore has consistently proven this.
He's like the proverbial ogre and not the intelligent Urda kind either.
