  • CO4x4RnR was called for a Bronco on Hackett Gulch with a broken CV joint. The subject had hiked out to cell service while his wife remained with the vehicle. They camped overnight until our team was able to deploy on Sunday morning.
As with any trail, there's more fun than expected. On ingress, one member ripped a sidewall and the team had to change the spare out. Further in, the team came across two broken side by sides; one with broken brakes, and another that was missing the keys, but were blocking the trail. The team winched the brake-less SxS up against a tree to clear the trail, and we came back for it on egress. The other SxS was able to be maneuvered off the path. Once the team reached the river, we left two vehicles at the end of the trail, and took the Gladiator and the Raptor across the river.
**Please note, CO4x4RnR utilizes Stay The Trail principles wherever possible, and does not condone water crossings as they damage the environment. However, this was necessary to complete the recovery, and we educated the subjects about Stay The Trail for their future knowledge. Please do not drive through waterways--you never know how deep it is, and it damages our wilderness. Ensure you check the MVUM for trail details, trail closures, and the turn around point/end marker.**
We connected the subject's camping trailer to the Gladiator, and a kinetic single line pull from the Bronco to the Raptor. The team proceeded back across the river, retrieved the remaining two team vehicles, and egressed. On the drive out, the team collected the broken SxS with a 2:1 kinetic rope. Once we reached the downhill sections of the trail, we connected the Jeep to the SxS as a brake vehicle for the dead tow via a single line kinetic rope, and shifted the front to a single line as well. Team made it back to the trail head without further issue.

I had a brakedown and it took 3 days to get my rig off the trail. My friend and I got it done and down to pavement. Thanks so much for helping people it's a bad bad feeling to be stranded on a trail. 💯👍
