Ola you should try it with a Boss Super OD in place of the Ibanez TS.
Most of the metal guys who were playing 80s Marshall amps were using Boss OD + Marshall.

Love this vid. I bought a 2555 Silver Jubilee Halfstack in 1988 from a guy who had brought 5 new full stacks of them to Oahu, HI were I grew up. I always was enamored with Marshalls for the tone and badassery looks, tried a JCM800 and was close to buying one as my first half stack, but when I met the guy at a music store and we got talking, he said he would trade me a Fender Strat I had and a couple hundred for the head and a 4x12. I tried it out and it was love at first crank. They describe it's tone to be a darker and gain'er version of a JCM800 and that's exactly what it is. It's been my go to amp for all these decades and no matter what else I try, I always shrug it off and go home a crank up the Silver and in tone bliss. Just something about that tone that pleases me like nothing else.
Early days, I used an original MXR distortion pedal with it which was great. A few years ago, I got a TC Electronic Nova Drive and when you mix in some of it's overdrive and dist channel together, it's amazing. Can get it to chug for sure with it.
Sure it's a bitch to have to deal with tube changes and biasing, but the thing is just a beast when everything is dialed in. And talk about art when remove it out of the shell to work on it. The wiring and components were all top quality back then. Nothing on it has needed to be replaced all these years. It's still completely stock. They simply don't make them like this anymore when you look at it's guts, unless you spend thousands on high end boutique amps. The Jubilee is one of best Marshalls ever produced.

Great amp. What's funny is that Marshall went all out and reissued this amp (and variants of it) after everyone in the Marshall fandom was demanding a reissue for years, and no one bought them. Local stores were liquidating brand new Jubes for under $1000 a year and a half ago.

The coolest thing about Slayer is they refuse to scoop their mids. Not necessarily that in itself is cool, but at a time when everyone was zeroing out the mids on their amps, Slayer showed how mid-focused rhythm tones could be aggressive too. I remember Kerry King showing an EQ for a rig run down, saying "There's no 'smiling' in Slayer'" (referring to the shape of the middy EQ settings resembling a frown).

It’s interesting that you’re using an overdrive into an amp plugin. Do you find any issues doing it that way? It’s interesting when you consider overdrives were invented to push the input tube of a an amp into saturation well before digital simulation was even conceived.
The signal chain being guitar->overdrive->amp input, compared to digital which is guitar->overdrive->console/interface>ad-converter->daw input->amp sim plugin, because the interface needs a completely clean signal and can’t be overdriven the way an amp can.
I find a software overdrive after the interface and ad conversion but before the digital amp sounds much better than I can get a real OD to. It just never sounds good to me to try and push any simulated amp, even a modeler with an analog overdrive the same way I would an amp (I really am more of a traditional amp and cab guy in the studio anyway.)
The only workaround is bringing the overdrive down to unity gain or below so it’s only changing the tone without clipping the desk pre. Did you do something similar here? I think the Horizon Precision Drive was made with this problem in mind. Many of the reviews seem to suggest it’s more suited to sims than analog amps. Not to mention that a simulated overdrive has the same convenience of changing the type and settings as the amp sim. It’s a done deal if you record overdrive on your input signal!

Artem Avagyan JCM 800 with a RAT distortion pedal and turn the tone all the way down on your guitar. That’s how Trevor Peres does it.

you're right when you say it costs less and has the same result, in any case I prefer not wanting to "cheat" my ears with something fake and try to be as original as possible, at least when I record on the record with the sounds recorded for real
