These look great! I was obsessed with the old pulp hero movies from the early '90s--something about those old properties re-interpreted through '90s movie sensibilities made some really fun art. The Phantom, The Shadow, Dick Tracy--probably all following in the footsteps of the '89 Batman movie, but still such a unique and strange subgenre in movies at the time. I wish there had been more, but I don't think any of them (aside from Batman) were all that successful.

Just ordered them. I love the Phantom the best, but I didn't want him to be lonely. I also got the entire defenders of the earth team. Got Lothar and Mandrake from Target this week.
I got Phantom at my LCS last week and paid $40, because I had no clue they would be hitting Walmart within the week. I grabbed Flash & Ming at Walmart on Saturday because I was so impressed with the fixed articulation issues the DOTE wave had.
As an Aussie the Phantom is my must have super hero figure. As you may know The Phantom is the adopted hero of Oz and has a huge following down under… and if I’m not mistaken the Billy Zane movie was made down under.
I am really looking forward to picking these up. I skipped the Defenders versions based on all the issues they had in your video so thanks for saving me the money on those. These are the versions I think of with these characters. A Lone Ranger, Shadow, and Zorro would be amazing. I hope they can do those in the future.
My Flash’s tab at the gun holster was stuck to the peg. I had to warm it up and slightly peel it off to unpeg it. Turned out it was all painted and dried causing that stuckage.
First, I want to say thanks for the Amazon notification last week. My two $9 Etrigans just arrived today with both Lex Luthor Power Suits. As for the trio in the video, I'm really looking forward to these. I only got the Phantom out of the first round, but I feel like that was one of the best figures to come out last year. Now this one with the striped shorts and the extras will make a fantastic pair. I love how the simple outfit really lets the sculpt shine. I think it's one of the best male sculpts out there and I think I will have to finally give in and pay the money for the SDCC Batman. As for Flash, I like this design a lot, but you are probably right about the first design being a little better. I really like this simpler Ming though. That weird green really gives him a creepy look that fits with the classics IMHO.
Omg I Thinking Shadow also. You could have a pulp hero set, (Diamond select) Rocketeer, Phantom, The Shadow, and Dick Tracey (mezco). Lone Ranger too western to me, but Saw some one say Zorro in the comments. Which would go together great. maybe westley from princess bride as custom zorro.

Doc Savage and Tarzan would be nice and of course Lothar and Mandrake. Because his costume use so static and changes so little from generation to generation they could get a lot of range out of the Phantom. I’ve seen a kitbashed “first” Phantom with Buccaneer boots, flintlock pistols. The Phantom 2040 would be easy with an updated belt and bracers. There are options.
A full pulp line would be great. Zorro, Lone Ranger (light blue a must, but the red shirt, black pants varient would be nice). Buck Rogers too, though he's had so many looks I don't have as clear an image in my mind other than that awesome finned helmet and jet pack. The Shadow, definitely and Doc Savage (though I'm torn between the actual metallic skinned, crew cut look and simply the tanned skinned blond). I'd also like the Green Hornet (maybe with swappable masks heads since he's had two or three looks that are famous for their generations). And if possible that white skinned guy, the Avenger? (I know him mostly from Justice, Inc. comics in the 70s).
I would love to see variants of phantom, from how he looked in different countries due to price of ink. In one country he was red, black, blue, gray, not just purple

It's a shame that we didn't get "The Shadow" Wasn't really interested in these, well maybe the Phantom cause I couldn't get The Defenders one. Then I came across "The New Adventures of Flash Gordon" on the Tubi channel then I wanted those figures, ended up getting them all in about 3 days, then I saw the carded figures with the cartoon packaging, Flash isn't dressed like that in the cartoon, and Ming was a white guy, not green like he should've been these boxed versions fit the characters better. I wish they'd have given us more characters from that show, Lion-Man, Dale, Aura oh yeah can.t forget Aura and Baron although I'd rather my Baron look like Timothy Dalton.
I grabbed the SDCC versions of Flash and Ming, love the upgrades made to them from the Defenders versions, and I definitely want to get the Phantom from this wave to upgrade from the Defenders figure. Much prefer the cast skintone w/ shading of these over the fully painted look, it's just a cleaner look.
I grabbed all 3 of these within the last week, and love them all. This is my fave look for Phantom, for the same reason as you. The only other versions of these characters I'll need now are the live action inspired Flash & Ming, for the same reason I needed this Phantom, the movie was my introduction to the characters.
Why do you think they redid these figures? I liked the 1st Ming a lot very cool colors and accessories same with Flash Gordon. Yes, I really like the Phantom. I too enjoyed the movie. I just wish they would've done a sequel. Totally agree with you The Lone Ranger and Tonto & The Shadow would be very cool!

I was so happy cause I found these guys at Walmart tonight for 15 dollars each. So happy. 35 was a bit much but for just under 50 for the three, I'm very pleased. Great review!
The Phantom is such an underrated character. He's even set up to go forever as he is a legacy hero. As much as id love to see him get an awesome modern writer on him like Garth Ennis or Geoff Johns. The way comics are now though, would hate to see him even get tortured by woke marvel or DC.
I find it aggravating that If I would have known about these I would not have go one after the defenders of the earth series. Which really sucks tbh. You even said it yourself that we would not need another one if we got these.
These figures are absolutely awesome even the Ming head looks kind of like Charles Middleton if they had made the unhelmeted head looks more like Max von Sydow that would be awesome

They cod use some parts from the defenders mandrake for the shadow.
I recently seen these at Walmart and as cool as they are they aren't $35 cool.
So are available on the neca shop or are they available every where else like game stop or target.

Neca needs to start incorporating butterfly joints. Their figures are all stiff looking. I stopped at Ryu hayabusa they’re all pretty much the same
The paint apps on Phantoms chest look a little weird, like the gloss/matte dont match. Is that the lighting or is it wonky?
