CLIP DESCRIPTION:
In the real ending, Wadsworth (Tim Curry) reveals himself to be Mr. Boddy and Mr. Green (Michael McKean) turns out to be a Federal agent.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this spoof of McCarthy-era paranoia and 1950s wholesomeness, the characters and plot are drawn from the popular Parker Brothers board game of the same name. On a dark and stormy night in 1954, six individuals with ties to Washington are assembled for a dinner party at the swanky mansion of one Mr. Boddy (Lee Ving). Boddy's butler, Wadsworth (Tim Curry), assigns each guest a colorful name: Mr. Green (Michael McKean), Col. Mustard (Martin Mull), Mrs. Peacock (Eileen Brennan), Professor Plum (Christopher Lloyd), Miss Scarlet (Lesley Ann Warren), and Mrs. White (Madeline Kahn). Two additional servants, the Cook (Kellye Nakahara) and Yvette, the maid (Colleen Camp), assist Wadsworth as he informs the guests that they have been gathered to meet the man who has been blackmailing them: Mr. Boddy. When Boddy turns up dead, however, the guests must try to figure out who killed him so they can protect their own reputations and keep the body count from growing. Three separate endings were filmed for Clue and shown in different theaters; all three are collected for the video edition. Although the film is set in the 1950s, the original Clue game was actually devised by Anthony Pratt, a clerk in Leeds, England, to pass the time during World War II air-raid drills. First released in 1946 under the name Cluedo by British manufacturer Waddington's, Clue was renamed and released in the U.S. in 1949. Today, Clue/Cluedo is marketed in 70 countries around the world and has been adapted into a British game show and an off-Broadway musical.

"Wait a minute... So who did I kill??" LOL!! Best line of the movie!
Ah, shucks. XD
You’re just gonna gloss over “I’m gonna go home and sleep with my wife.” ? XD (Jkjkjk)
My butler.
@@DanielSelk He was expendable just like all of you.
I’m grateful to you all for disposing of my network of spies and informers
Mr. Green was the only suspect who was innocent thru all 3 endings.
After all he said he didn’t do it, therefore he knows he’s innocent
He would never engage in that chicanery
Yet in the 3rd ending he actually killed Mr. Boddy

Shake rattle & roll!
This is probably the only true ending for clue mainly because green declares the murderer in the classic clue fashion by saying who did it, in which location, end with what weapon
...this is the true ending because writers/director said so.
"I . . . am . . . your-sing-ing-te-le-gram . . . "
*closes door*
Man that scene made me laugh so much
'Another murder..."
"That makes six."
"This is getting serious."
Don't forget the "Da-da, di-di, de-do, oh"
Highly memorable for me when I first saw this as a 7 year old, or however old I was when I first saw it.
I love how impressed Scarlet looks through out Wadsworth's explanation. It's fun to just rewatch this movie and pay attention to one actor's reaction in every scene
I'm going to go home and sleep with my wife. Lmao. Such a good ending.
That face he makes.
I know its great XD
Of course he said he was gay at the beginning
+The welsh Yoshi The blackmail victim the FBI agent is standing in for-"Mr. Green"-might be gay

Communism a "Red Herring": Stealth Pun. Red.
Professor Plum works for the United Nations Organization: Specifically, the World Health Organization. In other words, he works for U.N.O. W.H.O.
Mr. Boddy's actor doesn't stay around long, in fact, he's Lee Ving.
And of course, you've got this gem:
Mr. Green: I was going to expose you!
Waddsworth: I was going to expose myself.
Col. Mustard: Please, there are ladies present!
***** I love how the U.N.O. W.H.O. one can be three different puns
the humour is just top notch
Green taking his glasses off and putting them in his coat was a smooth as hell way to grab his gone
I did. In the hall. With the revolver. XDXDXD
Imagine if the grinch said that with much detail lol “ I did it. I’m the grinch that stole Christmas. In whoville. With the sleigh.” lol
The third ending is my favorite one, because it's the one that actually feels like an ending.
Not to mention it was pretty clear that Tim currys character was the master mind if he was the one who pointed it all together
Well, this is the real ending, after all.
...it doesn't just ''feel'' like an ending, it is THE ending as per writers and director...
For the Better Call Saul fans out there, Mr. Green is Chuck McGill. Jimmy's brother.
Mr. Green casually flipping off Ms. Scarlett at 1:37 with the "FBI" reveal. Perfection in the subtleties.
Ha ha ha I just realize that
I love this movie. Even the three endings gimmick. It’s great. Utterly nuts, and the best.
What’s even better is when this was shown in theaters they randomly showed one of the three endings. So you and a buddy could watch it it 2 separate theaters and see completely different endings
Next time I play clue, I'm heading right to the center and saying "Mr. Green, in the Hall, with the revolver. YOU CAN'T ARGUE WITH CANON!"
This movie is honestly just fantastic! I’ve read bad reviews that say it’s not scary and not worth watching but it’s a comedy movie based on a family board game, of course it won’t be scary, it’s instead hilarious and the cast is amazing
"Okay Chief, take 'em away. I'm gonna go home and sleep with my wife."
*Best, ending line, EVER.*
(And yes, I put those commas there on purpose, because it doesn't sound right without them.)
Wait. . .
Does that either mean that he's not G** at all; or that He's actually Bi(he goes BOTH Ways)?!!
@@New3DSLuigi364 He was a "plant" going undercover as a "fruit"... 😉
@@naldy21b I don't understand that.
"i'm gonna go home and sleep with my wife."
one of the best lines in the whole movie. xD
I had a big crush on Mr. Green and the Butler/Boddy when I was younger...lol. Still find them rather charming haha!
I agree young Michael Mckean was really handsome😊
Miss Scarlet's scream at 1:06 is how I reacted when Bilbo tried to take the ring from Frodo with that sudden scary face in Lord of the Rings. XD
0:05, I bet people who seen Ending C in their theaters were shocked when Wadsworth was revealed as the "real" Mr. Boddy. 😲
This movie is fucking awesome. The ending is easily the best for any movie I can think of. That very last line by Mr. Green is delivered in perfection and too funny.
This movie scared the shit out of me when I was little I don't know why
Maybe it was the gunfire, or the chandeliers, or the dogs or the way they made the house look really creepy.
Its not terrible scary but there are some jump scenes and I certainly could see a child being scared of the scenes where the killer snuck up on people like when that cop was on the phone talking about how fishy things were. You don't see who it is. Just some gloved hands holding a weapon about to get the jump on people.
"Professor Plum, you were once a professor of psychiatry, specializing in helping paranoid and homicidal lunatics suffering from delusions of grandeur
Yes, but now I work for the United Nations
So your work has not changed :)
TheGQBrotha accurate
TheGQBrotha lol great line
LOVE IT!!!
He built a time machine out of a Delorean.
"You're Mr. Body!"
He's also Pennywise the Clown from "It," Mr. Green.
And Dr Frank N Furter from Rocky Horror.
He’s also Nigel Thornberry
I hope they never attempt to remake this classic movie.
It's already in the works.
For a good mansion mystery, Knives Out is a must see.
Well do I have some bad news for you :(
I love this movie, but I think that a reimagining could work as long as it weren't just repeating this movie. I would be open to a new movie inspired by the game, but if they are going to "remake" it, I would want it to be very different. Have a different script. Don't include any of the original characters like Wadsworth or Yvette, only new original characters, and change the character backgrounds for the 6 main suspects. Obviously, it would still have to be a murder mystery, but there are lots of ways they could rework that. The only things I would want them to keep from this movie is:
1. Have multiple endings
2. Be a comedy.
I agree. Like... just don’t- don’t do it- ZON’T!
Zon’t zo it.
That moment when the old lady says. "OH...OH MY GOD...OF COURSE!?" Lol it broke all the seriousness xDD
Mrs. Peacock
So everyone's just going to ignore the struggle Mr. Green as trying to put his wallet back into his jacket at 1:39?
My dad is playing Plum right now, and tonight they finally did this ending! It was awesome.
I loved this movie, but Tim Curry's death always made me sad.
I Know, Especially since in the other two endings, he was the hero, working for the FBI. In theaters, they may of mixed up the endings, but on TV, they always air it in the order of
1. Scarlett did it
2. Peacock did it
3. Wadsworth did it.
It's almost like if Curry is in a movie, he automatically has to be the villain eventually.
Yes, I know 💔
Not as sad as hearing about the stroke.
@@medalgear654 Me too. Tim Curry’s death in the film was just acting. A stroke is for real!
For a SPLIT second I didn't realize you were talking about Wadsworth and panicked omg
The entire thing should of had 6 endings completely from the original release, with each tape having one of the endings randomly on the tape, it would of been crazy to of had a different ending for each of the 6 tapes, maybe even 7 endings could of been made for the film.. Imagine talking to your friends about it. They'd be quite interested to see how the endings worked. Still the dvd version made it a bit more random.
There is a missing 4th ending.
I read about that on the wikipedia page about that.. still 7 endings would of been interesting for the people in the mansion.
True.
I am looking for a movie where one of the main characters kept correcting another character for leaving out a word. I want to scream right now... "should HAVE, would HAVE, to HAVE had," NOT OF! OMG!
There was originally supposed to be an ending for each of them being the killer (everybody got their own) but it made it too long
He might need a lawyer after that. I heard Jimmy McGill is a good lawyer 🤣
Always thought miss Scarlett was Susan Saranden as a kid lmao
One does not simply shoot Tim Curry
Mr. Green did!
YOU'LL *ALL* FLOAT.
Andrew Rae nah, mr. Green made mr. Body float in the hallway with the revolver
Absolutely loved Playing Mr. Green for my High School play the last line always made everyone laugh!
I was a kid in the 90's, remembering they would show this movie a couple times; Friday afternoon to be more specific. I truly enjoyed watching it every time when I get the chance to watch it :-)
Michael McKean was excellent in this film (as always)
He is always excellent in this film, considering he only made it once.
Everyone in this movie is amazing they really had the perfect cast here 😍
This is a good movie for a classic board game.
Me: sees a movie

This is the moment Mr. Green becomes Chuck McGill
1:07 Good shot Green. WHAT?
I'm about to die but might as well congratulate you. -Wadsworth
The first play at my high school this year is Clue and I got cast as Mr. Green. I’m doing some research.
Amazing underrated death in film! "Uhh good shot green.....verry good."
Two ladies at my church tonight were talking about how they like whodunit stories, and I quoted Mr. Green’s line about killing Mr. Boddy in the hall with the revolver. One of them recognized that it was a Clue reference, but didn’t know there was a movie. Not sure whether it was the same lady, but one of them said she was going to watch this now that she knows about it. Since we were in church, though, I changed the word killed to offed.
“I’m going home and sleeping with my…”
Me: “Husband”
“Wife”
Me: *NO*
MR GREEN IS CHARLES MC GILL FROM BETTER CALL SAUL!
I'm gonna go home and sleep...with my WIFE
OH MY!!!
HE'S Bi
I always liked this ending the best, everyone did it
It WAS a cool twist that Wadsworth was the real Mr. Boddy, but it stunk he had to die in the "real" endng ("But here's what REALLY happened"). Wadsworth was my favorite character of the bunch.
Such a great movie. Very happy my babysitter brought this one over one day.
"Oh, good shot green."
Best of all the endings.
I like the Mrs. Peacock ending
I just realised Mr Green is Chuck from Better Call Saul 😂
they filmed 3 different endings to the movie and randomly distributed 3 versions of the movie to theaters when it released. The DVD has all 3 endings, and after the first it says "that's how it could have happened, but how about this?" and shows the second, then says "but this is how it really happened" and it shows this ending.
When somebody tells me a theory to a fandom 0:46
Because this is only one of three possible endings; throughout most of the movie and in endings A and B, we know Tim Curry to be "Wadsworth" and Lee Ving as "Mr. Boddy." Plus, that would be one hell of a spoiler, too.
Thanks you for posting this, this film is a classic, and makes me want to play te game when I watch it.
I love the comment " good shot ". That killed me.
Who knew that Chuck McGill was an FBI agent before he became a lawyer
Classic Michael McKean. :)
OMG. lolololololol "No, im a plant..." lol LMAO
We watch this every Halloween at my house. It's sort of a family tradition. 😏
honestly, I watch this movie so many times I don’t even remember how many!😂😂
And the singing telegram girl... Just amazing...
Just realized that Mr Green is Chuck from Better Call Saul. My mind is completely blown
I have no idea which ending I prefer. All of the characters are hilarious, so it's kinda sad when 1 or all of them are the killer.
Low-key the best ending other than the first one
Soo..Chuck worked for the FBI before he got into lawyering lol
That tie on the guy from that radio show that was so good....
Was perfect it was like from the 20s 30s 40s and 50s.
It made a statement.
I wonder what it was?
Lol
R.I.P. Madeline Kahn (1942-1999) (Mrs. White), Eileen Brennan (1932-2013) (Mrs. Peacock), Howard Hesseman (1940-2022) (The Chief) and Martin Mull (1943-2024) (Colonel Mustard).
I remember watching this and being like ‘OMG yes! I knew it! I! Knew! It!’
My favorite movie of all time
One of my favorite movies.
Mr. Boddy had informants on every suspect except Mr. Green.
My high school is doing a stage production of this and I got cast as Ms.Scarlet!!
1:04 scared me when I first saw the movie
Good shot Green.
Thank you for spoiling me with the title :)
I think he's the same guy from Trading Places, and old lady is on the phone, he puts it down and then proceeds to tell her to fuck off after she's standing there. Brilliant.
That final line is why this is the best ending of the 3.
Did he really need a stunt double to run backwards? lol
CHUUUUCK!
Boddy is a good sport. Really.
Mr green is chuck from better call Saul.
Part of the reason you don't see many older actors in movies today is the quality of available projects are so scarce. Myself I would like a remake of the musical Sweeney Todd the don barber of Fleet Street made with Tim Curry in the lead. He has the vocal talent and acting ability to pull it off. I don't care if Tim Curry does it on the theater stage or on DVD. And the format to be like the Hearn version with the movable stage sets. I would be the first one in line to see it
I know the multiple endings were done as a theater gimmick but I feel like having them in the home release cut with this being called the true ending just hammers in the fact that in most whodunit, it doesn't really matter who actual does it in the end. A lot of the time it just feels like the writers is just choosing one at random.
I wish someone could find the fourth ending, I mean it has been said that it was filmed so it must be SOMEWHERE
I read that even the actors don't know if it fully exists on film.
Apparently Wadsworth said that the alcohol was poisoned and he locked them in the house and drove away where he got killed by a police dog but this ending was considered too violent
Why is Mr. Green the only one who is never involved in the murders?
+LewisChestnut Running gag.
he's too op
Because his running joke is "I didn't do it!"
Is he always 'Mr. Green' in the American version of the game? In the UK he's Rev. Green, and therefore always the most likely suspect!
Cause for once, the guy who says they didn’t do it, THEY ACTUALLY DID NOT DO IT.
chuck mcgill vs nigel strawberry/thornberry!
From what I've heard Tim stopped acting for a while due to health issues, but I don't know for sure if that's what happened...
This movie is amazing
Mrs Peacock: Oh My God Of Course - basically me every time I get bitchslapped by life
This really was a good movie
Wow, the acting
“oh my god of course..” i love peacock😭❤️
Interesting how they all used the actual weapons they got as gifts to commit the murders eg Mrs Peacock - dagger etc.
