CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Mr. Boddy (Lee Ving) encourages the guests to murder Wadsworth (Tim Curry), only to end up a victim himself.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this spoof of McCarthy-era paranoia and 1950s wholesomeness, the characters and plot are drawn from the popular Parker Brothers board game of the same name. On a dark and stormy night in 1954, six individuals with ties to Washington are assembled for a dinner party at the swanky mansion of one Mr. Boddy (Lee Ving). Boddy's butler, Wadsworth (Tim Curry), assigns each guest a colorful name: Mr. Green (Michael McKean), Col. Mustard (Martin Mull), Mrs. Peacock (Eileen Brennan), Professor Plum (Christopher Lloyd), Miss Scarlet (Lesley Ann Warren), and Mrs. White (Madeline Kahn). Two additional servants, the Cook (Kellye Nakahara) and Yvette, the maid (Colleen Camp), assist Wadsworth as he informs the guests that they have been gathered to meet the man who has been blackmailing them: Mr. Boddy. When Boddy turns up dead, however, the guests must try to figure out who killed him so they can protect their own reputations and keep the body count from growing. Three separate endings were filmed for Clue and shown in different theaters; all three are collected for the video edition. Although the film is set in the 1950s, the original Clue game was actually devised by Anthony Pratt, a clerk in Leeds, England, to pass the time during World War II air-raid drills. First released in 1946 under the name Cluedo by British manufacturer Waddington's, Clue was renamed and released in the U.S. in 1949. Today, Clue/Cluedo is marketed in 70 countries around the world and has been adapted into a British game show and an off-Broadway musical.

This movie is like a fine wine, it gets better with age.
I've been wanting to say this.
@ Ryan Irwin- Diehl , 👍🏼
When Wadsworth rolls his eyes after Mr. Green outs himself. Priceless.

even years after watching it for the first time, it's still my favorite comedy film
Colonel Mustard: You cannot make an omlette without breaking eggs. Every cook will tell you that.
Mrs. Peacock: But look what happened to the cook!!
But look what happened to the cook!!! .....AH....
This is war Peacock!
Great line.
"Maybe he was poisoned!"

I died laughing on this part
“Maybe he was poisoned!”
“AGGGHHHH”
*slaps her*
“Well I had to stop her from screaming”
Oh my lord xD
Kristy Laffoon me too 🤣
I laugh every time at the way Mrs White just flings her hat across the room at 1:46 because it’s just one of the many great little background things you don’t notice when you first watch the movie
She tried to kill the cat with it
I’ve seen this movie 1 million times and that’s the first time I’ve noticed that.
Yeah, do you know when she took off her black blouse revealing her dress, shoulders, and cleavage.
1:36 that little shoving thing sums up why I love this movie. So insignificant but so funny and realistic because in the midst of a moment of sheer terror, they still maintain politeness and decorum
exactly, So many little things in this movie. Great acting..
I love this movie to death!!!
Spoiler alert: 3 endings. And all of them melted my brain.
You loved it to death? You may enjoy a similar, older movie, shot in the same house with a kind of similar plot.
It's called Murder by Death. You may also recognize someone from this movie.

Aeroldoth3 Eileen Brennan, the lady who plays Mrs. Peacock.
@@Aeroldoth3 I love that movie so much!!!
samkrac I choose the 1st ending
Felt like flames on the side of your face.
"I had to stop her from screaming" - one of the best lines in the film along with "flames" & "telegram" & "no meaning yes"
MAYBE HE WAS POISONED!! AHHHHHH! (Slap) Well I had to stop her screaming.
The only thing I didn't like about this film was that the characters weren't their respective colors. (such as Scarlet and Peacock)
Yeah, I hate that Mr. Green is wearing blue.
Ms. Scarlett had red hair and Mrs. Peacock had feathered headress.
well, I guess someone could make a edit of the movie to change that. If they can colorize black and white footage, that should be no big deal.
The cars they drove in the movie were the color of the game pieces.
If you notice, the cars are the same colours as the characters. At the beginning.
Edit: I wrote this before I saw the other reply. Sorry.
Most underrated movie of my lifetime.

Agreed.
It's silly little things like 1:36 that make me love this movie.
Perrygallo Yep. LMAO😂
"Oh God I need a drink!"
LOL always loved that line. To this day I say it when I'm facing a dilemma.
Maybe he was poisoned!
I find it heartbreaking that Mrs. Peacock from Clue (Eileen Brennan) is dead. “Oh God. I need a drink!” RIP Eileen
Mrs. White is as well 😞

"I had to stop her screaming!"
Was the brandy poison?!?
I still question about this today: Did Mr. Body actually think that any of the 6 would NOT attempt to use one of those lethal weapons on him instead of Wadsworth?
I think it is incredibly likely that he didn’t think about that at all. We have to keep in mind that Mr. Boddy had been blackmailing them successfully for at least a few years given the information we have. After all that time with nothing from the guests but compliance, Mr. Boddy probably got overconfident. Cocky. He would have hoped to use their desperation to keep their secrets to get them to do whatever he said, as he had been already doing as a blackmailer. He already had control of them - he was the only reason all of the guests’ secrets hadn’t been spilled. So why would this be any different? I bet it was a shock to him (at least in two of the endings). When one is so drunk with the power they hold over others, it’s easy to miss the obvious and make mistakes.
@@scottrobertjr.9631 I think they made this comment because it's revealed that mr.boddy is the opposite of who they thought. I also don't understand certain things about this movie, like why would he have his butler pose and the butler be risking his life to cover for him? Weird
Personally I think in the third ending the fake Mr. Body tried to betray his employer and have him killed, but just like the two other endings he didn’t think it through.
Clue is just like the Exorcist - it keeps getting funnier every single time that I see it.
accurate
Not to mention the fact that you’re talking to a dead guy! Now what do you think?! You think I’m qualified?
How did I not know Christopher Lloyd wad in this?!
Daniel Olortegui he’s a better tv show writer.
Mr Boddy is Lee Ving
get it?
BA DUM TSSSS
lol gooooood one
met Lee Ving in 96
Ha ha : ) Whenever me or my sis would say to each other, 'I'm leaving', we'd say 'I didn't realise you were Mr. Body : )
And his name is precisely the reason he was cast in the role.
I remember my babysitter bringing this over to watch when I was a kid. Still makes me laugh my head off!
1:56-2:10 Maybe he was poisoned! I had to stop her from screaming.
R.I.P Eillen Brennan thanks for making me laugh in this film.
"Maybe he was poisoned!" Lol 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I just went to go and see a performance of Clue at my high school yesterday, and they more than lived up to the standard of comedy that this movie set
Never gets old the way she gets slapped😂😂😂
0:50 There were actually a few ways for the guests to get out of the mansion.
1. Kill Wadsworth
2. Kill Mr. Boddy
3. Tie Mr. Boddy to a chair
4. Knock out Mr. Boddy
As Boddy said, even if they do turn him over to the police, their dirty secrets will be exposed in court.
Perfect cast. Such a great movie.
"That must be the murderer"
"Why would he scream?"
"He must have a victim in there....oh my god Yvette!"
"OH MY GOD!!!!"
Pennywise the Clown is the butler.
+Miss Agent E
Tim Curry has played many many roles besides, from a charming Elocutionist to an ambitious Wizard.
***** Oh, ok. That role as well as Wadsworth are what I know him best for.
Fair enough, though you've probably heard his voice in a lot more things and not realised, as he does a lot of voice acting work too.
***** Ok. Thanks for the heads up

Lee Ving as Mr. Boddy is underrated. He didn't have a large role but he played it perfectly.
Lee Ving, from the famous 80's punk band FEAR, playing Mr. Boddy. Excellent scene from a very fun 80's classic!

I met Christopher Lloyd at a convention in Orlando about 4 months ago and he's been one of my favorite icons of my childhood since Roger rabbit, star trek 3 and the back to the Future trilogy. Which in fact, Roger rabbit was the first movie I've seen with him. Along with Christopher Lloyd, I also met kane hodder, fairuza balk, Christina Ricci, the man who played lurch and Edward furlong. All great icons of my childhood.

If it's any consolation, I laughed. I knew what you were referencing and not messing the line up.
In the first two endings, Mr. Wadsworth was _really_ saying "over my dead Boddy".
love Lee Ving
1:56 "Maybe he was poisoned!"
I can't believe Eileen Brennan died, I didn't even know until I read the comments for this video! Ugh, there goes my dream of working with her someday. RIP Eileen and Madeline!
I love how all the characters are intentionally written to be dumb, kind of jerks or cowards, 1 note, and extremely over the top. Their using old movie cliche to make the movie all the more enjoyable without it feeling outdated, tired and worn out.
The reason that you couldn’t here the cook screaming is because peacock was screaming about the brandy
0:59 that scream 😂

Oh man, this movie was sooo funny! I Love it...
I watched this movie on plane and it was amazing! I bin trying to find a good mystery movie!

Shouldn't the fire have lit up the room?
Yeah but for a fraction of a second

Ummm, this is a no-logic zone. No logic allowed in this movie. :)
that is one impressive light switch to be able to shut off the fire.
I still can't believe that Lee Ving, the singer and guitarist for Fear, FREAKIN' FEAR, is Mr. Boddy in this film!!!
Martin Mull. You legend , RIP
On the wall by the fireplace the man in the portrait is William McKinley, 25th President of the United States 1897-1901, assassinated 1901. On the opposite wall is George Washington and the portrait closest to the window is James A. Garfield, who became the 20th president in 1881 and was assassinated that same year. Makes sense given what happened in the room.
Think I'm getting ready to play Mr. Black in the local theater pretty soon, hope it all goes well!
This is my movie! I'm mad I can't find it on here. I used to watch it on here but now it's gone. UA-cam must have deleted it.

Dat slap though
I heard Carrie Fisher was almost cast as Mrs. Peacock, but she dropped out at the last minute. RIP, Carrie.
TheHomeMediaCollector Productions Same! That’s exactly where I learned it! I love Flashback Cinema.
God I watched this movie so many times when I was younger
I am still trying to figure out how the bullet hole was over the mantle and broke the vase when Mr. Boddy was shot at and it grazed his ear. He was by the door... Continuity error? Or was this just a mistake?
1: 58 lol mrs. peacock is the best
The slapping bit reminds me of that scene from Airplane where everyone slaps the woman that was freaking out. Come to think of it, this movie does seem to have drawed some inspiration from Airplane seeing as it's a parody of a genre of films with a serious nature.
That slap! xD
the movie is funniest than the classic game board. I think because director and producers wanted everybody to see this movie include children, young people.... don't forget that the theme of the game board is a MURDER.
1:56 - :57 'Now' he says it?
