CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Mr. Green (Michael McKean) proclaims his innocence when The Cook (Kellye Nakahara) falls dead from the freezer.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this spoof of McCarthy-era paranoia and 1950s wholesomeness, the characters and plot are drawn from the popular Parker Brothers board game of the same name. On a dark and stormy night in 1954, six individuals with ties to Washington are assembled for a dinner party at the swanky mansion of one Mr. Boddy (Lee Ving). Boddy's butler, Wadsworth (Tim Curry), assigns each guest a colorful name: Mr. Green (Michael McKean), Col. Mustard (Martin Mull), Mrs. Peacock (Eileen Brennan), Professor Plum (Christopher Lloyd), Miss Scarlet (Lesley Ann Warren), and Mrs. White (Madeline Kahn). Two additional servants, the Cook (Kellye Nakahara) and Yvette, the maid (Colleen Camp), assist Wadsworth as he informs the guests that they have been gathered to meet the man who has been blackmailing them: Mr. Boddy. When Boddy turns up dead, however, the guests must try to figure out who killed him so they can protect their own reputations and keep the body count from growing. Three separate endings were filmed for Clue and shown in different theaters; all three are collected for the video edition. Although the film is set in the 1950s, the original Clue game was actually devised by Anthony Pratt, a clerk in Leeds, England, to pass the time during World War II air-raid drills. First released in 1946 under the name Cluedo by British manufacturer Waddington's, Clue was renamed and released in the U.S. in 1949. Today, Clue/Cluedo is marketed in 70 countries around the world and has been adapted into a British game show and an off-Broadway musical.

I always loved when Mrs. Peacock nods in agreement after "everything is explained"...then shakes her head immediately after the "nothing is explained"...lol
She is hilarious.
Sign of true stupidity
One of the subtly brilliant things about this movie when you've seen it so many times.
True sign of a politician's wife. She shakes or nods her head any time somebody says something because she's there but doesn't understand what anybody is actually saying.
Omg I never noticed that I'm cracking up
A fine example of a board game movie that is actually good.
SupermarketSweep777 Critically when it Came out it was panned. Some great movies are panned today too and a Lot of people Lear with time after trashing that hard work, people should change.
“A fine example”
Is there another example?

I think the best part of the movie was the whole retracing the evening step by step.
by now he she was dead. haha
WILL YOU PLEASE STOP DOING THAT?!
NO!
While we stood here, trying to stop Yvette from panicking, one of us could have stayed in the study, picked up the dagger, *rrrun down the hall*, and stabbed the cook!
The best part was the opening credits to end credits
Tim Curry was brilliant in this movie.
He's brilliant everywhere :D
Everlasting brilliance definitely made scene
FANTABULOUS
Also a voice actor
Most underrated film of the 1980's!
SparkDalmatian Sadly, it didn't even turn a profit in its 15 million dollar budget
The Chicopico It all worked out in the end because when it came out on home video and nostalgia for some it was remembered fondly and turned out successful in its own way. Not to mention the movie itself was good not like a stinker like some other movies.
I didn’t do it. Love that line! Mr. Green is the only one who didn’t murder any of the victims!
No, he didn’t. The only person he killed, in the third ending, was the real Mr. Boddy (Wadsworth), and that guy had it coming.
He killed Mr. Buddy in the hallway with a revolver
@@revengeofbcraig5755He was with the FBI
@@Weebs82589 it was a joke. But he did actually kill Mr. Boddy.

What’s so funny
@Edward Lee Miller she truly was. One of my favorite lines that I never understood until I was an adult was:
Colonel Mustard: how many husbands have you had?
Mrs. White: Mine or other women’s...?

@@Love-Sensibility No problem.
Fight me, but Mr. Green is THE best character in this movie.
yes. That’s correct H E I S
Mrs. Peacock cracks me the fuck up with her indignation!
Eileen Brennan and Madeline Kahn had such genius instincts for how to play a comedic moment. It comes not out of making 'light' of something, but out of playing something totally straight that is absolutely absurd, for example Miss Peacock's horrified reaction to socialist intrigues at 0:12.
Interesting but little known fact. Leslie Ann Warren was the Miss Scarlet understudy. Miss Scarlet was originally set to be played by Carrie Fisher (best known as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise). However, the day before filming began, Fisher went into rehab for alcohol/drug addiction. Henceforth, her understudy (Warren) took her place.
There's more to it than that - Leslie Ann Warren was originally cast to play Mrs. White.
Ms Warren's scream, priceless!
*_“I DIDN’T DO IT!!!”_*
And the best part is, he’s the ONLY ONE who didn’t do it. XD
0:20 there's a joke that always went over my head until just a few seconds ago.
What joke?
Well, she pulls a tissue out of her bra....why do you think she has those?
?
I love the glare Kahn gives after "Too late."
2:10 when my parents asked me why the family computer was messed up with viruses
Anytime someone is explaining something to me and they say “to make a long story short”, I immediately respond “too late”
1:12 It was Professor Plum, in the Hall, with the Candlestick!
Golden Girls 👵🏻❤️
Wadsworth: Well, to make a long story short-...
Mustard: Too late.
XD
Mrs. White going over to comfort Wadsworth and offering him a handkerchief is so touching and charming...I would love to do the same to the real Tim Curry himself. 😍☺
It’s touching… Until you realize where she grabbed the handkerchief from, and why it was there... 🤣😂😆
When I first saw the movie, I didn’t know why they had to kill off like five other people, then I realized that it so each weapon could have a part to play
"Great! We'll all go to the chair!"
Does she mean they will all be executed?
@@hlonydlamini4496 Yes, they will all be electrocuted by electric chair! ;)
Miss Scarlet was one of my idols growing up. My favorite all-time quote is:
It’s my *defense mechanism*
This movie just gets funnier and funnier the more I watch it! XD
Not often a body falling out of a closet or similar area is amusing, but this version certainly is (especially with Green's reaction). XD In fact I believe only Tex Avery's Who Killed Who? tops this as the funniest version (check it out to see what I mean).
"Ah, yes! Quite a lot of us, isn't it?"
Now that is a classic animated short

They really should make a board game version of this movie. I mean well u all know what I mean. Would be awesome to play with these actors as the tokens and the board would look so luxurious
It'd be a board game based on a movie based on a board game.
How many times does Michael McKean as Mr. Green say, I didn’t do it?!”
I think every time a body is found and when Wadsworth fslls out of the bathroom
I LOVE Mr.Green. He looks handsome if he didn't say he was a homosexual XD
Does anyone know how real police detectives would handle a situation like this? 6 people locked in a house all with a motive to Kill.
“I didn’t do it!”
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I had to look up what a socialist was in order to understand why Mustard and Peacock reacted the way they did.

Marty Keaton I noticed that too. Nor were they with them when entering the kitchen. They did that for a reason. There was suppose to be a fourth ending in which wadsworth was the killer.

I love how they are so suspicious of each other, and yet they go outta of their way to scream out their own innocents.

Great, we'll ALL go to the chair!
Christopher Lloyd looks so different in this movie...Im used to seeing him with long hair like in Back to the Future.
Look him up on Taxi. Its even more of a difference
Happy 68th birthday Kellye Nakahara (cook). Nurse Kellye Yamato from MASH.
I think Mrs. Peacock reminded me of the nutty office cleark show
How did that clear Mrs White of being a suspect when she said flies are where men are most vulnerable, I didn’t understand that
She was a Black Widow. She seduced men, married them, then had them killed for the inheritance.
"Flies are where a man is most vulnerable" means unzipping their pants to easily seduce them
Don't worry about it.
2:08 WAAAAAUGH!!! XD
Tim Curry was also in Regular Show. You guys know that?
He does a ton of voice acting, especially since his stroke in 2012. Which...I mean, he's definitely got the voice for it lol
She had friends who were... SOCIALISTS. 😂😂😂
How could we possibly find out which of you did it?
Chuck before the electrosensitivity.

“I didn’t do it!”
I always wondered how her dress stayed up.
I DIDN'T DO IT!
A rather narrow superlative if ever there was one
But still a valid point
the cook was in MASH
suzycreamcheesez Nurse Kelly
So if Yvette stayed in the study, why didn’t she see Mrs Peacock/Professor Plum go after Mr Boddy with the candlestick. Yet again, the 1st ending is the only one that makes sense.
I DIDNT DO IT
As great as this movie is it does have moments that go unanswered. One thing is who was the F.B.I. targeting this whole time. Mr. Body or whoever was threatening to kill him. Obviously the F.B.I was in on this plot the whole time and through all three endings. The first two being that Wadsworth wasn't The Bulter or A Butler but an uncover F.B.I. agent assigned to investigate. The third ending it's Mr. Green who's the undercover agent. So the question remains who was the F.B.I. targeting in this movie.
Lesley Ann Warren.....
1:57 Did anyone else notice the chocolate cake everytime someone entered the kitchen post-dinner scene?
Illuminati 0:22
Uh-huh. A perfectly good cake gone to waste. Yet another crime in the house that night.
2:06 X'D X,D X'D X,D X'D
Even if it was the cook, how could she race from the kitchen to the study in under 7 seconds?
Isn’t there a secret passage that goes from the kitchen to the study in both the board game and the film?
In fact...there actually is a secret passage that connects those rooms and it’s a plot point in this film. Hill House’s ground floor is just like that of the mansion in the board game. The secret passage that connects the kitchen and the study is a shortcut that slices diagonally through the game board, allowing one to get from point A (the kitchen) to point B (The Study) without having to move in a semicircle around the full area of the board.
So instead of going through the two sides of the triangle between the study at one corner of the board and the kitchen at the opposite corner, you use the hypotenuse of the triangle (where the secret passage is) to get from one corner to the other much faster.
😂 Classic.
This really mysterious!!!!
I DIDN’T DO IT!
Haha ... I didn't do it!
I had a thing for Madeline Kahn
I love mrs.peacock
what makes you think it was missed by many?
That's a huge frige
notice how the 'butler' (Tim Curry) didn't follow them to the kitchen.
Nor did Yvette
Mrs. Scarlet burns herself from her cigarette on her leg when she drops it but they keep filming if anyone notices
Does Leslie always smoke alot in this movie? Smoking is BAD for u -_-;
Only to find out that she was not there.
The butler not here in this scene either so he killed mr. body. It is crazy how im noticing this now
Neither was Yvette. Both of them are missing
This movie is confusing but I love it.
Anyone want some more Wadsworth? ;)
