    Guys, I checked with 3F just to be sure: All Lanshan tents, except for the Pro series, come factory sealed. There is no need to seam seal any Lanshans that you purchase EXCEPT for the Lanshan Pro tents.

      @@BackcountryPilgrim They sure are. And we ended up with major malfunctioning from the Pro. In rainy weather, the drops of rain bounce on the tent and make the condensation fly everywhere.

When I returned, tent wasnt there By this time the wind picked up and as I looked round, I saw something in the air. I realised that its my tent, lol. I took chase but as the wind was rather strong, I couldnt catch upto it and it started to go up the hills. Of course, it went over the hills and I thought its gone forever now. I did catch upto it, but at this time, it was stuck in a tree and the outer was all ripped. Lost it either way. Thats 2 camping trips ended in disaster. Ive only had 2 trips, lol. 3rd time lucky in April/May. 1st time, I did set it up without incident, however, when we were all in the pub, the heavens opened and rain that we couldnt see hand in front of us. Great video. Your other video saved me as I totally undid the knots on the guy lines. One question, after setting it up for the first time, the gap between the floor and the sides of the tent seems much smaller on your setup than mine. Any tips to get it lower as to let less wind in?

    • @icebearhikes
      @icebearhikes  Рік тому

      You can adjust the height to fit your needs by shortening or raising your trekking poles. I usually set my tent up with my poles at the length I hike with, then lift or lower each side as I need for the weather. Then readjust the stake out lines until you get it tight. I hope that helps! @@icebearhikes thanks I'll try that. I have one more question! My tent came with 2 extra guy lines and there is loops on the side of the tent. • @icebearhikes
      @icebearhikes  Рік тому

      I did not use them. They are to extend the sides for taller campers. I'm only 5'8", so it wasn't necessary for me to use. I do have a taller Hiker friend, at 6'3", who uses them every set up. It depends on your specific needs and preferences.

      That's so awesome! It really is a great tent- I've never had it fail me. I use shepherds hook stakes on most trips. I've seen friends use larger groundhog stakes, and some with V stakes. The stakes that come with the Lanshan seem small/short. If I'm setting up on rocks, I use larger loose rocks on my stakes to hold most of the weight tension. I'm glad I could help. Nice how to video. It took me a good 5 or 6 times setting mine up before I finally got the perfect pitch. Senior Hiker 77 really helped with my issue. I do use the side guidelines and he has a great trick to keep the creases out of the sides when you use those guidelines if anyone else may have that problem. I cut out the little inside mesh pockets to save a little on weight, since ounces lead to pounds, right? LOL

    • @icebearhikes

      Senior is wonderful! Walker also has a trick with the side guylines, if you're using them. He uses the fishing pole Y holders from Walmart to hold the lines up higher. Very creative. I suppose those mesh pockets would save some grams 🤔. I never thought of that.

    • @icebearhikes
      @icebearhikes  3 роки тому +2

      The big difference between the 3 season inner and the 4 season: the 3 season is almost entirely mesh, the 4 season is almost entirely silnylon. I wouldn't want the 3 season in winter, or the 4 season in summer. The 4 season does block a lot of wind from coming in, but it is not "warm". Im perfecting my winter sleep system currently; that's where you get the warm from. Hope that helps! Thank goodness you didn't order the Pro! 😬

      It gets a ton of condensation inside for me. I can't seem to keep it dry. During a rainstorm in the Smoky Mountains, several friends of mine had to tear down camp at 2am and hike 6 miles out to their trucks because two of them had the Lanshan Pro take on rain. They were soaked within the first half hour of the rainstorm. The trip had to be cut short for them to dry out their gear and recoup.
