I love the ending-I would too--I tell people heaven would be going from 17-22 and hit repeat over and over again...music partying and college...man it was fun!
How many people can claim to have been in the two greatest bands of all time? (Bad Leftenant and the Other Two, in case you were wondering ;-)) For real though, Joy Division may have been the greatest untrained musical quartet to emerge from the North of England in the mid-twentieth century, with all due respect to the Beatles and Echo and the Bunnymen. And Stephen was probably the best natural musician in Joy Division, even when you consider the singular talents that are Hooky, Barney and Ian Curtis.
After he spends the whole interview detailing all of the drugs he ingested as 16 year old, he actually complained about the canon tetra chloride in his uncle’s mill. I’m sure it’s not healthy, but it struck me as just another chemical in the cocktail.
I opened up a CD jewel case from back in my college days, decades ago and it had the perfume of an unbathed hippie, petulia oil! Sonic Youth, Daydream Nation.
