Reminds me of the time my brother and i pulled a engine and cv transmission in shoneys parking lot. At 17 he realigned the shift knuckles in the trans. We were back on the road in 1 1/2 hours.
Yeah, the endplay situation was a bad sign but the price was right. Fun to investigate this stuff. The heater box clam shells are pretty toasty. Not sure if it's worth trying to save those but they do have better internal heat fins than aftermarket.
Hi Hubertus! Seems like it's always a little of both; really depends on if the case is savable or not. That end play is bad but we're not afraid to try crazy things, so we'll see how it goes!
That's a cool idea @user, I'll think about how I'd like to approach that topic. But to give you a quick answer, these are all analog gauges with relatively simple hookups. Each has a light that is powered by the taillight circuit so it comes on when vehicle lights are used. All but the vacuum gauge requires power that is connected to the ignition circuit, although the accessory circuit would work too. The vacuum gauge also a tube going to a port on the intake manifold. The cylinder head temp has a line going to a thermocouple mounted under the #3 spark plug. I hope this helps!
Hey Tim! We are fortunate to have a lot of great shows in the area. This one I think you knew about- it was the VDub Getaway in February. In other news, I'm actually getting caught up on videos with the new weekly posting schedule! You can check out that livestream here: ua-cam.com/users/liveDSx3_KY7OMs

That's awful Rodney, too many stories like that. Sorry you lost a friend that way. We'll keep doing our best and I hope you have a Happy Father's Day too.
That’s one way to get a donor engine!
A bit of work, but rates high on the fun list.
Everybody likes a good old
Engine pull video.
Thanks Greg, we combined a couple favorites on this one!
2:45 I've seen that done with an oil cooler for cabin heat in the winter.
Thanks bedlamite42, that's what Jon said too (the vendor). It was a new one for me.

That's impressive Troy, thanks for watching!
An engine named Wheezey? I'll definatley have to check out coming video.
Thanks Oldbugssy, this will be exciting to tear into with everyone.
Getting down and dirty ! Things we do for bugs oh I mean love ! Thank you
Yeah, no kidding Neal. But fully worth it! Thanks for watching, always great to hear from you.
Great video!
Thanks Edris!
Measure endplay is the first thing; it’s all a gamble. Save those heater boxes if possible!

haha! I love this! Can't wait to see more!
Thanks Annie, this was a fun way to spend some time at a swap meet. We'll tear into Wheezy next week.
I had to chisel off the exhaust on mine. It was wasted anyway so no biggie.
Yeah, sometimes it's that way. Exhaust parts have a hard life. Thanks for watching!
Hi Brent, safe the engine story for use as Donor parts ore, do an overhaul?? anyway looking forward to the next one on this.Greetings.Hubertus

Made it in from the rain just in time
Glad you made it Barry!
At least Vdub motors are pretty simple to take out with just a few tools!
Yup, that was helpful here. Good to hear from you Levi!
Wow Brent you guys have shows happening all the time!
I didn’t see a live stream listed for yesterday?
Hopefully the engine works out for you.
