The super heavyweight poweflifters have the same deadlifts as the lighter guys , the squat improves more with bodyweight. Jamal has almost maxed out his frame and leverages , maybe he can add a few pounds from getting bigger but we can't say if it will improve his deadlift . @@uoiuo The super heavyweight poweflifters have the same deadlifts as the lighter guys this is a bad comparison. The reason SHW power lifters deadlifts don't scale very well is because hands get fatter as you increase in weight and hence grip becomes harder. This problem is solved by straps.

@@twirdman2 It's more that the power belly gets in the way. Bigger squat, worse deadlift. I don't think it's a grip issue, 400 lb strongmen have grip that obliterates powerlifters. They just don't use it the same way in a deadlift because so many other events tax the grip.

    here are the facts :
    Speaking PURELY ABOUT THE MECHANICS.
You should be able lift more using sumo.
Why? The sumo lift utilises adductor reflex in addition to extending the torso.
The conventional deadlift does not incorporate the adductor reflex, instead you knee extend off the ground and follow through with torso.
This is biomechanics . If you use more parts of the body you can lift more . Now, this is where it gets individualised to what limbs and structure you have . You ideally want to pick what is optimal for your body .
The heaviest lift recorded has been done by a sumo (502.5kg) . This makes sense .
The heavier lift should always be a sumo variant .
Why? Because you use more of the body in the sumo .
These sumo lifters will look disproportionate physically . Be hypermobile and have leverages that are anomalies
    ---
Eddie hall was the first to do 500 using CONVENTIONAL . It makes it even more impressive he did it using conventional.
Respect it and don’t ever compare or I’ll bash ya

I dont think this theory holds up well. You can for sure use your abductors on a conventional deadlift aswell by pointing out your toes a bit. You just recruit muscles in a different pattern. I do see it as a seperate movement. It just highly depends on how strong certain muscles are. Some people have good knee extensors and others back/hip extensors that are stronger.

      @hansneggs Рік тому

@@mikabremer9087 you will still be knee extension dominant . This is the typical strongman style deadlift off going wider .
True sumo uses adductor to break off floor and their positioning shows this . They are very wide . the adductor reflex is what breaks it off the ground .
This tells me you don’t know how to sumo properly by the way you reason.
The adductor reflex is crazy powerful if you can use it but it requires tremendous mobility, leverages , relaxation that some body’s don’t have .
