    My question is.. say that you have your 6.5 mid-range speakers, your cross over, and your tweeters.. and your tweeters have a capacitor, or bass filter already connected to them.. should that capacitor be removed, or should it be used with the connection to the cross over?

    • @bkordel
      @bkordel 3 роки тому +3

      If you keep the existing capacitor, the slope is then added together with the slope of your passive crossover. So no, don't use both. Pick one or you'll end up with let's say, a 36db slope on your tweeters, then a 12db slope on everything else. That's not a good thing.

    what 6x9 speaker would you say would be better then the stock 6x9 speakers in a 2007 pontiac grand prix, with the monsoon sound system, i heard that the 6x9 speakers are nearly better then any other aftermarket 6x9 speakers for the car, and i blew one maybe the second one, they are not fully blown but i can tell that one has a mattalic like sound like a tin but the other one didnt sound as clear before i blew the second one, also i can only afford to replace the 6x9 and not the stock amp, and need to know what the best speakers can go in it and sound at least equal to or better

    • @jasonghering4389

      I would go with Skar audio 6x9. They are like 120rms per speaker. Which is more then enough unless your getting a big system. I went with prv 6mr500ndy. They are 6.5" mids and 250watts rms. I got 8 of them in my car lol. Just I'm into competition with my car. I hope the best for you and keep the volume knob up

      I’ve been installing car audio systems for 18 years and imo the best amp for mids and highs is a 4 channel Alpine amp. As far which exact one you should get that just depends on the amount of power your speakers/tweeters need and can handle. Go by the rms watts not the peak watts so you don’t damage any speakers or the amp.

      It won’t damage anything but it will definitely take away from the performance of the speaker because it reduces the strength of the magnetic pull of the driver. It’s not something you want so if you can avoid it I would. I’m speaking mainly about high powered subs tho.

      Yea to your amp unless the amp is too powerful for the tweeters

    • @Silentjustin06
      @Silentjustin06 3 роки тому +4

      Your talking about wiring a tweeter and midrange together in parallel to a channel on a amp? I wouldn't wire a midrange in parallel with a tweeter. Tweeters are in a different frequency range than a midrange so you don't want them on the same channel. Say you have 4) tweeters and 4)6.5 midrange to a 4 channel amp. You would wire the front passenger tweeter in parallel to the back passenger tweeter to 1 channel on the amp that is going to the front rca output. Then run the driver side tweeters like you did the passenger side to the 2nd channel on the amp. Repeat the process for the midrange speakers to the 3rd and 4th channels. You want all your tweeters wired together on the front channels and all your midrange wired on the rear channels. Sorry it's a year later that you posted this.
