Iron isn't ever limited on a new planet - you have a platform in space producing a small trickle of it indefinitely from the random asteroids wandering in. You should be looping the excess iron from your platform into the cargo of the ship then dropping it onto the planet.
@@hrscz seems like it's possible to have multiple space platforms that send down pods of space-collected materials. At least until they implement a cost to ship
I've been going back and forth on whether I should go to Fulgora or Vulcanus first, but I'm leaning more towards Vulcanus. Sure I can unlock some new high tech researches if I go to Fulgora first, but I'm leaning towards Vulcanus because those foundries can significantly up production of intermediate materials and belts. Plus I really like the hellish aesthetic of Vulcanus. I'm also considering starting empty-handed on the middle 3 planets and bootstrapping up to a rocket on each one. Seems like it'd be a fun challenge.
Wow that's an amazing planet. Really going to change some of the big mods now that those resources are relatively unlimited (size/power/transportation limited that is). Going to be really fun to play this soon. Great series, more please and thank you!
just found out I can use shift clicking to copy components needed for a recipe selected on a assembling machine and paste them into a requester chest. So nice
I knew the foundry would be super useful, but it easily makes double to triple the items I was expecting. I was considering Fulgora first for recycling originally, but it was a close call. Im really not sure now looking at the foundry now
33:12 In place of requesting stone bricks and trashing stone, you could add an electric furnace or two to the setup, so that you could use the stone produced by the molten iron foundry to supply stone bricks. A circuit logic would avoid you having less stone bricks than needed (locking the setup) or having too much stone in the chest (also locking the setup).
The "not a bus" could be improved be a copper ore to molten copper into cable build. Also the stone to bricks furnace is missing the efficiency modules.
Steam to water recipe is something that I never could understand why it was missing in the base game. Like, it should just happen by itself because that's how water works, it turns to steam when you heat it and liquefy when cooled down.
In fairness the steam engines we see Factorio are open cycle engines that vent the low pressure steam rather than condensing it. You know those big towers you see at nuclear reactors? Yeah those are cooling towers they used to condense some of the water and get rid of waste heat. Since we don't give a fuck in Factorio, none of that. Would actually be an interesting mod to make more complex steam turbine setups
@@Trenjeska Oh, I'm familiar with Space Explorations condenser turbines. What I had in mind was more a modular steam generation mod that let you mess with pressures and maximising energy outputs. Eh, might be a bit cpu intensive
I do believe if you fill a fluid tank with steam and let it sit idle long enough, it _does_ turn to water. I think I had that happen once when part of my power production got disconnected. Might just as well have been a fever dream though. What I really don't get is why we can't get rid of water (or other fluids) by just dumping them back onto the ground. Not much use for that in base game, but some mods play with having you balance the waste products (waste water production).
You obviously know what you are talking about. I have to admit it's not easy to follow for someone who didn't play Factorio for some time. You show what you are doing, and I understand that. But I miss the (longer?) explanations why what in which order.
not really limited. Calcite is super abundant and you barely need any. I think they added Calcite so you also have to transport that to Nauvis if you want to use the Foundry there. Which is kind of like
I'm a few weeks late now (wanted to play it myself first). I feel like it would have been much simpler to bus molten iron and copper, and only deal with calcite in and stone out at a single location
Hy Nilaus, 30:57 why not put the foundry that makes concrete facing the assembling machine and then flipping it so the water is aligned and the molten iron is on the right side and I really recommend you start working on belts
I had to question how you get Steam(H20) from calcite and sulfuric acid and then realized the acid had the hydrogen molecule. Don't judge me I'm no chemist 🤣
Do you mind sharing how you’re editing your ghosted stuff like that? I’m kind of copying the ghost stuff, placing somewhere else, then alt+d to delete then ctrl+v to repaste the original thing rotated 😅
How are you dealing with stone byproduct from the foundries? WEve just been putting them into steel chests and shooting them, but theres so much stone! and of course this isnt sustainable once we leave the planet...
anybody know why he does everything on such a small scale on this planet? I thought getting metals on this planet is the meta so doesnt it make sense to make it scaleable right away? Or is space really such a concern? or is it all about rushing the tech tree so you get access to the best buildings asap?
He doesn't have a consistent source of tungsten yet, meaning the number of foundries are limited and trying to scale up to early will stall development
Something I noticed just now is that at 24:11 you didn't use any wire to connect the inserter to the red chest. How does that work? Inserter facing chest automatically read chest content?
It's not reading the content of the chest, it's reading the content of the logistic network. So if there's enough tungsten in a storage chest somewhere, that inserter will still be disabled, even if the provider chest it's facing is empty.
you can automate sending resources up to space platforms and the platforms can move from planet to planet on a schedule and the platforms can automatically drop things to the surface
The main base is just working like usual in the background, you can go to the map and look at it and even interact with it no matter what planet you're on
Blueprints do not endup in your inventory unless you explicitly put them into the cell. When you press "Q", Ctrl+C -produced blueprint just disappears.

So.. can you just spam platforms to farm free iron from asteroids?

Yeah, I'm interested how Bob's/Angel's will integrate the DLC.
We could shorten the name of the not-a-bus using the Latin prefix for 'not' or 'negation', and thus call it 'a-bus'
it pretends to be a bus, so it's *amobus*

Why would I buy the game when I have seen Nilaus play it allready, and doing it 9001% better then I ever could.

How are you dealing with stone byproduct from the foundries? WEve just been putting them into steel chests and shooting them, but theres so much stone! and of course this isnt sustainable once we leave the planet...
Make landfill, or just throw it into the lava once your chests get too full
Great games
why did he destroy the iron and steel foundries? there is still some iron/steel needed?

He doesn't have a consistent source of tungsten yet, meaning the number of foundries are limited and trying to scale up to early will stall development
Resources are a bit constrained until he can fight the worms. Once he has secured one of the ore patches, it is possible to scale in a nice way.
You also don't unlock cliff explosives yet so there is not much "quality" space so to speak.
It's a bus, don't kid yourself.
The tungsten must flow

Something I noticed just now is that at 24:11 you didn't use any wire to connect the inserter to the red chest. How does that work? Inserter facing chest automatically read chest content?
Nope, he connected it to logistic network (not circuit network)
It's not reading the content of the chest, it's reading the content of the logistic network. So if there's enough tungsten in a storage chest somewhere, that inserter will still be disabled, even if the provider chest it's facing is empty.
Also, since I can't remember if Nilaus mentioned it anywhere. ALL inserters are FILTER variants by default now!
