1:06 I really liked how you handled the bugged resources situation with the devs and be so relaxed about it, appreciate you looking out for the player base/community/whatever. Big up good guy Nilaus.
Well, might as well brick the system so that he knows how much he needs to grow the Power production to compensate it. If he did it the other way around he might have to go upgrade power twice. First for the innitial state of things, and second time after power-hungry upgrades.
@@theblackbaron4119 Oh c'monn... If you know you need to upgrade you might as well stall to see how much you NEED instead of doing intermediate upgrades.... And no, I in fact do not work for Ubishit 😅

recently did one last playthrough of factorio before the new update and used a bunch of ur old videos to help with designs. Just wanted to say thank you and I am loving the coverage of the prerelease
10:25 There goes my 5 hours of manually pickaxing rocks & ruins & rebuild entire factory from nothing on BOTH Fulgora & Vulcanus. It was never crossed my mind that you can send stuff down there without landing pad.
I did the same, but I would still recommend to drop with nothing on the first playthrough. It has that same feel as playing factorio for the first time and that is something you won't get the chance to experience on subsequent playthroughs.
Same here. The game doesn't tell you and you only know that you need a cargo landing pad to send stuff down so if you don't have one why would you consider trying that.. Anyway, Vulcanus is a really beautiful planet so I don't really mind
I started the same. After 4 hours I read on reddit that you can bring stuff. So I loaded the save before the flight to Vulcan. Now I took lots of stuff with me, but I didn't take enough ammo. I got to Vulcan, and right before I take the stuff - the space platform got destroyed. and I "oh well, thats my destiny".
I watched the overpreparing live on stream. And I have to say that I really appreciated the sense of discovery, dread, and overcoming. (And a small amount of comedy at how well prepared you ended up being after an hour+ of prep). Looking forward to watching the summary here.
that was a wonderfully diplomatic and functionally honest way to address people whining about why content creators get access before the public. you must have been good to work for back in the project manager days
MAD respect for you putting in the effort to work with the devs while trying to make content! I see your software management experience shining through, lol
Watching the video, I love seeing the design that came together on stream presented so well! It's great to go back over the design in its entirety, which is hard on stream.
omg, omg, omg! it's next monday! it's happeneing!! i'm considering going in unprepared and finding it out the hard way ingame, like in old days before internet interweb videos!
Same! I'm stopping by to like the videos for Nilaus, but discovering Factorio for the first time is one of my favorite gaming experiences ever. My body is ready for Space Age.
4:42 I think it’s because storage tanks and belts are some of the first things on the list of items in the first tab so it goes based on that. Steel chests are listed before them so I bet if you requested those they would be satisfied first
Glad to hear the devs take the bugs seriously. Putting our faith in them (Factorio devs, atleast) has never been for naught! Love the game, but I'm definately not as organized and neat as Nilaus 😅 looking forward to the next episode
I’m guessing that’s why it comes out Monday. I was really hoping it would come out on Friday so i could play all weekend but then any day 0 bugs take a few days to catch because they have the weekend off
I can't believe i didnt notice you could drop items from orbit without having a cargo landing pad... Ive played about 60 hours and genuinely thought every new olanet was a full fresh start until you had built a pad.
26:03 Refreshing to see an engineer with well over 5000h playtime still struggling to find exactly what they need in the inventory. Just like me the 400h pleb. 🤣
I finally got to the new Space Content so I can play along... and you went here first instead of the lightning planet like I want to visit first for the recycler, lol. I watched it anyway but I have to decide now if I want to watch them out of order or wait even longer and do the scrap planet blind.
Beacon rations might be broken and there is new productivity research for specific items that might force adjustments on large-scale production of those items.
belts and fluid tanks are pretty high up in the manual crafting menu (only chests precede them). Guess that's related to some internal ID or something and thus they get requested first.
In a way you are external QA as you can put more time into finding bugs than the devs can. That's a big help to them and players. Thank you for your great content, you made Factorio a lot more enjoyable for me.
I believe the outer planets are further from the sun and have worse solar efficiency in space at least. I’m not positive about the surface of the planets but it seems like they would be different.
Well... when I report something to Wube they know it is serious, well documented, and critical, so they take a look immediately. It is incredibly difficult to find good testers and to determine the quality of the reports by testers. When you have someone with 8k hours, who they know, then it is more helpful than many random beta testers, who just want early access
I played a lot of Satisfactory last couple of weeks, not that i've reached the endgame at all, but looking at Factorio again, remind me how much Factorio was the big Daddy over Satisfactory / DSP. I have 1000+ hours on Factorio, guess i have to buy Space Age now despite i didn't want to ... ( A have too much game to finish before )
@Nilaus how come you never show how to actually do the alignment, not even in your map and grid alignment video ( It wont let me move the red flag around in Space Age )
I was so hoping the expansion stuff wouldn't be Space Age, but i also knew it was the most obvious next thing, space station/ships, other planets, other materials, hauling shit to and from, but man i do not want that. I am probably just staying on the first planet with some of the extra stuff like 2nd level railroads etc.
5 hours of your progress lost is a small price to pay to save millions of hours lost for other players who would've come across that same bug otherwise.
silly question, but needed info for me, i see you select a building and paste it, and its settings often in these videos, how is this done? built in? a mod? i can copy, then paste one or the other, but havent found how to do both at same time. thanks in advance
The actual cut/copy/paste (ctrl-x/c/v) keeps settings when you paste, therefore doing both. I'm not sure what you're asking. You might be calling the Q key copy, but that's an eyedropper/picker, not a copy. Since I'm not sure what you mean I'll also mention that Shift Right-Click copies settings and Shift Left-Click pastes settings. One of those should answer your question.
It was the fact that I clicked on Vulcanus in the Remote View after discovering it, but before landing there. I had 2 save games 14 min apart, where first worked and second was broken, so I looked through the recording and found that suspicious activity
Theoretically you can, but devs recommend starting from scratch: 1) new planet gen is said to be better 2) rails are different now, so when you try to expand old base, new rails may not work as you think 3) different technology tree, different rocket recipe. Nothing breaking the save, but I personally plan to start from scratch
The new ghosts have a few colours. Darker blue is the normal colour, lighter blue for when a robot is assigned to it. There was a friday facts about it if you want to go through them for the full explanation, it was a while ago though.
What does being a content creator have to do with getting that early access? Because one creates video content doesn't mean one tests game content any better. I'd say moreso the other way around. Content creators are looking for ways to monetize their time, and to get that early jump on ideas.
I really like your content and I've been a big fan of your Dyson Sphere program series of videos. But the comment that you made about this is why content creators gain access to games early. It's a load of bullshit. That's what alpha testers afford. That's what beta testers are for not content creators to make a quick Buck on a brand new release that everyone's super excited about and getting thousands if not tens of thousands of yous
Something can both be for marketing and testing. Yes creator early access is marketing for WUBE but it is also a final chance to bug hunt before full release.
content creators get early access: fine. some of us are not content creators but do have extensive software testing experience. there's no way for Wube to know who we are, though, granted.
all of this guy's designs seem so... arbitrary and inefficient. Dumping dozens of roboports down for no reason and with no power for them? Just so he can have a giant pointless grid?
No hate ... content Creators getting early access is fine... to prepare content for the release... but NOT of making Content BEFORE the actual release... Stop putting Content Creator above the normal player. They are just some people who shoot their stupid chatter into the world with videos.
Too many games release in an unfinished state despite early reviews and showcases. By allowing long time content creators access they allow potential customers to see that the game is ready, bug free, complete, fun and worth the price.
@Nilaus That's exactly the narrow-minded answer I was expecting... Game developers should always have a quality control department - if they don't, they are in fact poorly positioned. Because these types of game developers leave it up to the players, or now the content creators, to test their game. You are probably 1 out of 100 content creators who actually play the game and find bugs and pass them on. The others don't give a damn about the “State-Of-The-Game”. I find the way games are developed and then given to content creators at an early stage incredibly anti-community like... Either you release it for EVERYONE beforehand (it's Early Access anyway) or for no one beforehand (or Content Creator beforehand for video preparations) Because of you content creators who do nothing but play, the entire UA-cam timeline will be for the ass and full of spoilers. Nothing else...just spoilers...

Do different planets have different day cycles so need different solar/accumulator ratios? That would be great to encourage new designs.
