I've been hooked on your channel Nelson for a while now, please don't stop. Such complete and, most importantly, understandable comments during the decision-making process are a rarity. And the fact that you find the strength to do this while playing with equally strong opponents is really cool. This series of games was the most exciting I have ever watched. There is much to learn.
3 and a half hours of chess!?!? I am going to have to chip away throughout my day tomorrow....I know what will be on while I tackle laundry, dishes, and making dinner.
Don't beat yourself up Nelson.. after all you had that great 98.2 accuracy tonight! You'll get more like that next time, just have fun with it. :) Take care and God bless!
I drank a bit too much wine last night and played dozens of blunderfull games. Lost loads of rating. This morning I played a 98.2 accuracy with a brilliant move. Felt good.
Unfortunately with the premoves, it's hard to see what actually happens in the last few moves of the game. Even the end position is tough to make out because that big "You Won!" square instantly obscures much of the board. Then in the postgame review we see how Stockfish would have done it, not the way it was actually played.
Nelson I truly appreciate what you do for us here at chess vibes; you give away tons of free content and place your rating at risk while you explain to us what you and that’s amazing.
That was a rough day at the office Nelson. I can't imagine how much pressure there is to win with an audience watching, but we've all been there man. We are all learning a ton from these videos, so please don't get discouraged.
Do you guys remember a video from Nelson few months ago titled “Chess Commentary to Fall Asleep to” and the first comment “imagine if he blundered in the middle of the game” Well this is the case for me for the last 2 stream videos. Has woken up by Nelson 2 times this week :D
1:19:55 Nelson, this is by far not the first time you blunder because you're overfocused on attacking. 2:00:56 I didn't like g6 in that position. But if so (your bishop was in trouble), then at least put your black bishop on the long diagonal - that would have definitely prevented the loss of the game the way it ended. Your mind is only on attacking, not enough on defending. g6 severely weakened your dark squares around the king. According to your own tips in almost all your videos it was necessary to defend these black squares because of the white "black" bishop.
(@2:49:33) I’d try 1 … c5. If white captures en-passant, 2 dxc5 Rxd1+, 3 Nxd1 (or 3 Bxd1) Rxc6 and you have two rooks on white’s e-pawn. If instead white pushes past with 2 d6 Raxd6 lining up your rooks on the d-file, and attacking the e-pawn. Even if white trades, 3 Rxd6 Rxd6 doesn’t change anything; you still have control of the d-file and the e-pawn can’t really advance due to your knight on g6. If white plays 2 b4 you can pin it with Rb6. You could also try 1 … Ne7, blocking the e-pawn and controlling the d6 square with your two rooks and the c-pawn., but then white can just play 2 c5 themselves. 😢
25:33 - after bishoop take d4, if the knight move, you have a fork : by sacking the bishoop on b2 with check, and the take the queen. Althought I don't know if it's worting a bishoop and a rook for a queen, a pawn, and a bishoop ;)
After observing your play style for almost a year now, I’m here to say I think the reason you’re struggling to improve your rating is your play style. You spend a lot of time calculating sacrifices instead of just playing the solid move. I know you can do it. I’ve seen you beat cheaters. The way you play when you know someone is cheating is the right approach to take with every game. I believe you will climb if you take this approach
13:25 you have this game won. Qe3 white cant trade queens because you get protected passed pawn on the recapture. He will have to keep his king and rook guarding them. You then push the 2vs 1 on the queenside to victory. If he doesnt trade queens his rook is badly out of position and you can push the d pawn to victory.
Why go for a mediocre fork when you could have an EXCEPTIONAL fork 😆Keep at it though Nelson you played very well and some days the tactics just don't quite go in your favour :))
Because if you take back with the knight he could go queen e7 check, if king to g8 then whites knight recapturing would be mate. And if king to h6 he could still take back and white is much better
3:22:07 why not Bg6 here. I know its not great, but you dont loose a piece.. and I cant see how white can give the same mate treaths??? It very human tho, you was a bit in tilt, so one perhaps calculate less and play desperate moves. The desperado with Rxf8 in the game before was nice tho, I did not see that and you found it emediately. Seening these kind of move is often the difference of a win and loss. And i think it also destroys slightly when explaining and having an audience. Your videos are amongst the most instructvie on youtube!
After that guy made that Queen blunder, you had the advantage and should've won but you played too fast, maybe because of time pressure, and lost that winnable ending
I guess Nelson's playstyle doesn't allow him to win many games, because from the very beginning he often gives away some pawns for development, and then messes up in the middlegame. Not in every game, but I've seen many games of yours that fit these words
@@maximos905 I meant his openings that he often plays, like different gambits, after which according to Stockfish he has from the very beginning has disadvantage about 1 pawn. If he chose normal openings, I think he would win more games
The Stockfish line from 1:56 is really confusing. I get taking the pawn but then throwing in all those seemingly random checks to still end up on g2 is just weird. But given Stockfish ratings is about 4000 ElO above me, who am I to argue.
I feel like you would win all your games if you didn't use 80% of your time in the first 5 moves every game lol. It's definitely a lot harder to play while explaining everything so it makes sense
It was really frustrating to see you loose so many times and in so embarrassing ways. I saw a lot of those critical moves that you needed to see and it was surprising that you didn't, because I'm not even 1500. I guess you shouldn't play more than 3 games when you see that you are missing such things because It means that you're out of your shape at the moment.

18:23 Hello Nelson, Could you please tell me how some players manage to achieve an Elo rating over 2000 just a couple of months after creating their account? I've come across some whose profiles I've checked, and I'm sure they are cheaters. Faustino Oro only gained 4 points at the Ibero-American Championship and defeated players like the three-time Spanish champion, who even cried during the game due to frustration with Faustino's play. How is it possible that so many non-professional players reach such a high Elo in just a few weeks or months?
they are good players and start with the rating of 1200 or 1600 I don't remember. And if you want to increase your ELO fast, you have to play the tournaments instead of 1vs1. Because in tournament format, you meet players higher rated than you and gain like 10+ elo per match if you manage to win, but if you lose you don't lose much elo because you're lower rated than them
Chess rating gains and losses take sample size into account. The more games you've played, the higher chance they have a pretty accurate idea of your rating If you've only played 10 games or 20 games and you beat a high rated player you'll gain a massive amount of Elo in comparison, because the rating system is still trying to figure out where exactly you fit
