Nope, I'm not taking a shower in this ship until someone fixes those dangling electrical wires!
I pulled the part out, but I had a long diatribe on how one side of the shower has plastic barrier between the "shower" and the components on the other side but then the whole other side of the shower is still exposed to the gearing and components for the swivel to the starboard engine nacelle. Why would that not have received plastic covering as well!?
@@Leadnap this is always the case with drake. it's heads or tails, don't walk on the lead side!
You'll just have to wear your rubber showering suit.
Have to agree, cutter is a great deal and a fun little ship. Not usually a fan of drake ships, but if this is the direction they are going, I'm paying more attention now.

Pricewise? Yeah, I think it is probably the best.
You can juuuuuust fit an STV in the back and the PTV fits great. Since this is so much cheaper than the Avenger Titan, I think I have to agree this is the best pound for pound starter ship out there.
If you don’t want to spend 20 minutes squeezing that STV in back spend more money lol.
This lil Cutter is just adorable. It's really a cool ship to start from scratch and still get a lot of gameplay loops covered.

I love it for a $45 starter and the only change I would make is to give it a jump seat in the cargo hold. After flying it a few days I'd definitely recommend it to a new player.
The new Cutter pack seems like a steal. I have a couple friends trying SC out for the first time during IAE and they have already fallen in love with the Cutter and all it can do. It may not be the best at everything, but it sure feels great to use it and really has an immersive feel about it.
Yup. Compared to an Aurora or Avenger it feels like you get so much more ship - even if in reality the Avenger is slightly bigger.
I'm an Origin fan myself, and I have a 125a, Pisces C8R, 325a, and an Avenger Titan (at least until the Spirit series gets released). So I absolutely do not need the LTI Cutter that I bought. It is definitely an LTI Token. But it's also my #1 recommendation now for anyone joining the verse. It's a better daily driver than the Avenger. The Avenger is better for combat, but I did take the Cutter into Solo Pirate Swarm and get it to wave 8/10 with stock parts on the first try. It's a solid little tank.
Just picked up a Cutter, and I love it. I tend to enjoy having a range of small ships in order to pick the right ship for the job.
The Cutter game pack with LTI is a no brainer.
The looks, remind me of SpaceBalls every time.
6k Q fuel is an insane range, though that may be a necessity in Pyro.
Yea, except CIG says they're nerfing the fuel because it's not supposed to be that high. I for one hope they realize it's needed and buff other ships to match.
I bought the Cutter starter package, with S42 addon (I used store credit for the latter). Then I melted my old starter package. Just for the LTI, if nothing else.
In the long run I feel like this is the power play in any number of scenarios.
I totally agree with you. Unless you really want to be focused on space combat, the Cutter is now my #1 Starter Ship recommendation. If you were someone new to living in the 'verse, the Cutter would give you the best overall experience. To distinguish from the Cutty, I've been calling it the Cutlet. That said, I already have a Pisces (C8X, soon to be a C8R once I apply the CCU after IAE) and a 125a. I'm even CCUing my Avenger Titan up to an E1 when the Spirits go live. So, I don't need any more starters. But it was cool enough, and so well done, that it was tempting.
When the Cutter was shown in yellow from the back, I noticed that it is the Vulture without the long arms in front and a different cockpit.
Not really. The Vulture has two decks and the Cutter one.

I love this little thing! I usually use my Nomad for box runs and bunkers, but I've swapped it out with the Cutter and it's been a great change of pace. Sound design on the cutter is amazing. Oh, and I'd loooove a Leadnap Gaming ccu for my Odyssey ccu chain!

Cutter with a VK-00 is top tier for bunker missions, box missions, and general exploration in the current patch.
It is is pretty awesome. But it's definitely going to get nerfed. At 6,000 QT fuel capacity that's more than the MOLE and twice that of a Connie Andromeda. Makes no sense.
Fair point and I must say I wasn’t thrilled with the cutter but that LTI. And 60 claim time! Nothing like loading your daily up with loot to glitch and die… only to have a 60sec ship to go get your main back 😎
I was not expecting to like the Cutter but the ability to get out of your ship gunning is great for bounty missions!
Outside of it looking like a flying rectangle, it actually almost has that much older SciFi looking spaceship design with it's look
The cutter definitely is one of the best starters. Recommended it to a pal that wanted to start recently.
The Cutter will be my entry into this game (coming from ED). Although I do have to say, the Odyssey is a gorgeous looking beast.
i think the lil feature that had me go "woah" when i gave the ship a look, was the side window shields you can enable for that lil extra protection. much sweet~

Quality choice
Might have considered it, if I was a new player. But now with some of my experiences, I compare the Cutter to other starter ship I began to like during the play - the Pisces.
Which really feels like flying the smaller version, where you keep the cargo, but don't have the luxury of having the bed and toilet inside too.
Buuut I might grab it as a base for upgrade for the one tier bigger Drake ship, which is also solo, with bed, toilet and more room in cargo bay. The Vulture.
I JUST bougt this as my first ship I am SUPER excited to get into Star Citizen and explore this world with you gamers o7
I started during December and got the aurora but when i received the argo i ccu'd for the cutter. Now I'm liking it better than my aurora. (Aurora still great especially for beginners wanting to dogfight, those 4 gimbals are a great help)
For my friends that are still hesitant about joining the verse I've gotten one to get this and I'm gifting it to another. This is a fantastic starter and I hope the old starters get brought up to par.

Yeah i switched my Mustang to a Cutter, but boy is that 100 series tempting, they just fly so well.
Couldn't agree more on the Cutter! Great value as a starter, especially at the IAE price. once the special is over though it might take a bit of thought to decide between it and a Titan though.

Must agree, this price for a starter that can carry a mule makes a bunch of sense. A different paint scheme would help though.

I've been waiting for the right time to start playing this game and this package might just make me do it.
This ship was the very first I ever flew, and I ended up upgrading to the titan anyways, because it does everything it can do, but better.
* I call it the "Short Bus" but I really like "The Grub" and "The Pug".
* The Cutter has another advantage over the Nomad in that it has a way larger fuel tank. If I remember right the Nomads tanks only hold 900 units of fuel, whereas the Cutter holds 5000 units.
* I am a space whale (...er, marshal) so you can figure out how much I have pledged to the game. I absolutely love this game. One of the ways I did it was I first bought low-price LTI token ships, I then used those to upgrade to all the others. But the thing that has gotten me more ships than I know what to do with (or crew) is I set up a Star Citizen bank account (yes, I really labeled it as that). I put one hundred dollars a month into the account and then go nuts every IAE.
* People still think the Odyssey will be able to hold/store quantanium. CIG has already stated that the Odyssey will NOT have any way to store quantanium. It will go straight from the laser into the refinery and then into the fuel tanks. There is no storage space for the quatanium refined or unrefined. However, they didn't say whether or not the Odyssey would be able to "transfer fuel" from one ship to another (ie ships in its hanger).
* Remember, CIG has said that if you have extra game accounts in your primary game account, they will be used toward having an AI NPC for use on your ships. Co-pilots, turret gunners, janitors, we really do not know what is ahead for this. Some people have cried pay-to-win at this and I can somewhat see where they are coming from. Also, once you become concierge, they now give you another game package. At this price, buying the Cutter as a game package may pay off in the long run.

100% agreed: the cutter is the starter ship nobody asked for, and yet, what a fantastic ship it is!
The same was true for the 125a, despite the problems. The best starter is the ship you keep with you when you are concierge, not the one which you fast pace through for the right CCU. The range alone make it stand apart and it makes sense as Pyro gets closer.
Unfortunately CIG has already said the fuel is a bug and they will nerf it - but this is normal for them: fudge the values on a ship to make it way better than everything else, sell a ton, and then nerf it.
@@Leadnap damn this could be crippling the ship, especially if it won't be able to run a military quantum drive component.
I'd hate having to melt or CCU it to something else, as, Nerf wise, CIG far too often showed they don't really know what they are doing, or rather know, but it's not for our own good (Ares Ion/Inferno)

Yea that’s unfortunate, but sadly the norm for CIG with releases: “omg this thing is amazing, take my money” then “we fixed all the mistakes”
I can't wait for the oddysey. Not even because it will make lots of money but just the concept of being in space for extended periods of time without much "life" close by. Every gameloop brings us to a planet or station within the hour or so, but the idea of just being in space for hours on end maybe even days... Yes please.

MUPUV-Cargo was $35 w/LTI; this is only $10 more *and* includes the game.
I really like the little cutter and for 45 dollars it is a heck of a game package/ship, but at 60 or 65 dollars I would still recommend the cutty black all day long. If the person can afford the extra cost they are getting more than twice the ship for a little less than twice the investment.
I don't disagree, except the Cutty Black is almost twice the cost. In SC, especially once you've been in it a while, the $40 difference between the two seems marginal - but to new players I believe that is a major hurdle.
Cutter is neat. Still keeping my 324a, but its definitely a good recommendation especially with the current sale.

The new Cutter game package is actually a pretty good deal... and the Cutter itself (although its looks are an acquired kind of cute, much like a Pug) is actually a quite functional little ship with a very good fuel range. I'm seriously considering changing my starter-ship game package to be the warbond Cutter, and as it includes LTI it will even be very viable to upgrade from later on if needed :)
Of the original starter ships I still prefer the Aurora MR (over the Mustang), but for a daily driver and mission runner for long term I will always choose to upgrade to an Origin 100i (or my personal favorite, the 125a). Having the option to spawn the ship at planetary/ground outposts, this has saved my behind several times.

Those are a lot of the reasons I’ve always said the 125 is the best choice but when it’s your only ship it comes up a bit limited.
cutter is great, and a starter pack with LTI and a ship that good for 45 is a steal
I have to say, for the same price as the pisces package, it looks amazing, with an ability to carry a small vehicle and especially when beds will be more important, I think it is the cheapest and best option for versatility but well I shouldn’t really talk about cheap versatility when I own a 325a lol
You can still talk about it, like someone who owns a BMW talking about how the Honda Civic is a good deal.
I like it, i'll probably buy it ingame at some point. Perhaps for box missions, don't need the best looking ships for those.
The Cutter reminds me of the Razor Crest. It’s very nice and fun to fly! The Cutter is nice and offers a lot of utilities without sacrificing much. I like it, like really like it.
Stick the yellow paint on it and you have the magic schoolbus. About as luxurious as one too

I wish they had added a side entry, and let you fill the cargo in the back completely. 4 scu is really small for a 45$ cargo hauler/package mover. It is weakly armed, slow, and not very maneuverable. I would rather have the Aurora LN or Avenger Titan, as they are more general use. Also needing to add a mule inside just to carry more is so dumb.
As for the Odyssey, I am uncertain it will be a great money maker, it is a ship for moving a smaller ship really far. It does not really have any inherent money making potential. If it had it's own scanners it might make a much better ship.

If you're planning on putting a vehicle in the Cutter, you're going to be better off picking up an SRV over the Mule. Ok, it only has space for two 1/8th SCU boxes, but it's faster and easier to drive, it's also smaller so you still have plenty of room to move around it once loaded in the ship. Not to mention it's also $5 cheaper than the Mule...
Lead mentioning that ARGO doesn't make a starter ship made me realize that ARGO should TOTALLY make starter industrial ship!

Honestly, if I was starting out and didn't have other ships, I'd go with this one.
I may pick one up for AUEC in the future for funzies though, a fun little thing to cruise around in. If you're starting out, or have yet to obtain a package, I wouldn't be able to recommend better.

I'm loving the look and versatility of the Cutter, I'll probably upgrade to it from my Mustang Alpha.
One of the main things about the Cutter that I don't think you mentioned that it has twice the Quantum fuel as the Connies, more than the Freelancer DUR and 2/3 that of the MSR. It is going to be the greatest starter for Pyro because of the system's size. That and you can just slap in the VK-00 and still have plenty of fuel to zip around anywhere. Truly its the ship you want for a daily runner if you're in Stanton, just to get around quickly, and the best starter for one not really wanting combat. It can also fit a ROC, although very tightly and you have to drive it in forward and you can't close the door. Still, it can be done, which puts it above the Titan in my opinion.
Its a cool ship to be sure. I would recommend this to any new players. Good review as usual Lead.

You're right! I grabbed a Cutter, even though I have other more capable ships, because it has its uses, it looks cool, and it's affordable. Tomorrow the red Pisces might sway some hearts, though probably not enough for most players to dethrone the Cutter as their event favorite. The Cutter, while young, already has street cred, having stolen the show from the Corsair, which is no small feat. What's a red Pisces gonna do? - Probably be everyone's 2nd or 3rd favorite, since the Corsair is still very well-received.

I find it looks like the Aluminum Mallard from Space Quest 3 but I am old like that.
I haven't been tempted by ships since the MSR concept. That said I bought a Cutter. Lol.
It's so ugly it's beautiful. Like the bastard child of the Space Winebeggo and a Puddle Jumper from Stargate Atlantis. I've been obsessed with it all week.
I've had my eye on this one for a few minutes, I can't help but think this isn't only the best starter ship, but the best all-around package for a solo player
The landing lever is not actually backwards(it is if you compare it to a real life one, but it's not if you notice the detail), if you read it's label it says deploy on its top side
No I saw the "Deploy" text at the top - but the entire point of landing gear levers being shaped that way and operating the same way on *all* aircraft is to that anyone knows how to bring the gear down in an emergency. Thus even though CIG put text on it to justify the way it works it is still wrong. Many things are uniform in aviation for this reason - so if CIG is going to join in making parts that match they should actually match.

Honestly, I wish this little starter ship had more firepower. Maybe it just needs 2 more size 1 hardpoints? There is alot of open space on top of the cutter, perhaps those hardpoints can be added there. I think this could open up more options for beginner players, but I also think this would make the cutter as strong as Drake standards (like the Corsair)!
Super excited about the vulture in upcoming 3.18. I’m at work right now so gonna miss IAE, again, this year😢. Excited to fly my Corsair when I get home

Yea I have a lot of ships that fill very important roles in my gameplay but having a good runabout is also important!
Not a fan of drake but I like the direction this takes us in and more starts ships would be the versatile

I will get the Cutter at some stage. My Renegade Will do as my starter for now.
The cutter is overall my favorite ship to fly, but i do think the one point that its lacking is in weapon hard points, as those two size one's really start to show their weakness for anything except minor combat.
I think the cutter should have, perhaps, bespoke gimbal size 2 as opposed to s2 mountings. Its got 50%, or less, firepower than pretty much any other starter. Its, ironically, less barebones than the Aurora, or even the 100i. This has a toilet. The luxury brand doesn't. It functions best out of the starters as a "home", but I don't know what that will mean for all the other starters when gold passes start rolling out. I think a few of those others might start growing in size to hold better internal facilities.
this ship is like a small all-wheel drive mobile home for a geologist, somewhere in the vast expanses of the new world: a base, a house, a working tool, a connection with the world.
I have found the Cutter very enjoyable especially from an immersive standpoint. It just feels like a ship that my actually exist in a not so distant future.

Another thing I like about the Cutter, is stick an Atlas drive in this thing and the fuel will last forever.
Yea, they’ll nerf the fuel (said it’s an error) but still that Atlas will take it further than most “starters”
