Star Citizen is an open development, crowd funded project from Cloud Imperium. Consisting of 2 games, Squadron 42 a single player, story driven campaign putting you in the middle of the Vanduul attacks as an up and coming UEE Navy pilot, and Star Citizen, a highly detailed
first person MMO set within a persistent universe where there are no limits. This includes, space, and ground aspects, massive spaceships with full interiors and interactions, a full dynamic economy which reacts to the players actions allowing for anything you can imagine.
It is all being built on the StarEngine (a modified version of Amazon's Lumberyard Engine).
Please bare in mind that this is heavily WIP and in an alpha state in which much of the foundational tech to make it a reality is still being developed. Both games do not have set release dates yet but you can play the alpha build for the PU MMO which makes consistent progress
with quarterly patch releases throughout the year.
I am an independent content creator and a fan of the game, I am not paid by Cloud Imperium however I do accept ships from them to giveaway to my community but this will by no means influence my opinion or what I say and believe about the project.

I love the Cutter Rambler. It doesn't even do anything super unique yet but that interior space is nice. It feels like a small home on the go, has shelves, a couple small windows...a reading light lol. I wish they'd add some of that to the older Drake ships when they get around to it. Tempted to upgrade for one of these but I do have a Cutlass.
With a very generous amount of fuel for a ship of its size, a complete cabin area, and a decently sized cargo hold, the Cutter Rambler is easily a contender for one of the best starters in the Verse. Thanks for the review.
The Rambler seems really nice, just hope they will implement the food/drink dispensers soon.
(Considering they kinda got the coffee maker in the 300i working it shouldn't be that far off.)
I personally absolutely love the Rambler. It's a great daily driver for doing all sorts of missions. Got a bed when it's time to log out. I got all sorts of weapons on the racks for whatever I'm doing. Able to take missile launcher AND rail gun in one ship! I got two 1scu storage containers there to hold extra ammo and things. I got mine all decorated too as well. Got a bunch of luminalia stuff on display. I absolutely love the ship if I'm just gonna be chilling and doing random shit. I did hear that the fuel was bugged and it's the same as the other cutters.
Simply enough this is the best video for what I was hoping to find regarding a "tour" of the Rambler. It covered the vehicle exactly well enough for me decide if I would want one. Thanks for all you do, Ryan!
Would’ve really liked a medical variant for the Cutter to expand the variety for small medical ships since C8R Pisces is the only small medical.
3.22 has been really smooth and been enjoying all of the new features, still looking forward to the new Jump Town.
I don't really know that there's room for another small medical ship. The only thing I can think of that would distinguish it from the Pisces is a bed for bed-logging - but what would it give up in exchange? Any more amenities and it might as well be a Cutlas Red.

I have the Rambler with the cliffhanger paint. I love this little ship. I've upgraded the systems and weapons (one laser cannon and one distortion cannon), it's great for box missions once they fix the mission bug that won't let you complete it. I'm happy with it.
I would be quite pleased if a food truck drake cutter comes out at some point.

I love the Drake Cutter it gives me Beetle Camper Van vibes! A utilitarian functional craft, an industrial aesthetic.
One thing I really love about the Rambler is the lighting they actually make the ship not MEGA dark
I bought the rambler for the exact same reason, and when we will be able to create our own markers on the new starmap, that will make exploring actually feasible, since you can come back to the interesting places you find
I use the Rambler for bunker mission grinding. It is small enough to be able to hide behind rocks in hostile areas, or park right off the door and move a 2SCU box through the bunker's hangar door for all the loot. Faster than using a Carrack and a snub!
One thing I think to note about the Cutter and particularly the Rambler: The size 1 quantum drives are the fastest currently in the game with the VK00 going 280,000km/s compared to the next fastest size 2 drive the XL-1 of 260,000km/s. Combining this with the large fuel tank, and INSTANT claim timer when you expedite the claim - the ship is a perfect courier for getting anywhere as quickly as you can. I imagine the large fuel tank will be especially useful in Pyro.
With 3.22 being as smooth as it is, nows a good time to take a Rambler for a fly and explore all those caves :p
3.22 has been full of amazing updates and features. The new salvaging mechanics have been my favorite among all of them. The X and the San'tok'yai are fun as well, and this little guy is pretty epic and would be really exciting to take around the verse when it gets expanded and exploration is more of a real thing
i love my Drake cutter but, would love for them to rework the tail end to extend the cargo bay and make door ramp smaller

I love the Cutters! Started with a regular one, then moved to the Scout. I haven't tried the Rambler yet but I would be tempted. The fact that all the paints are usable on all variants is so awesome - the Noble paint is amazing!
My favorite thing to do in 3.22 has become cargo. The introduction of the c1 at the IAE kinda got me into it
This thing is basically a flying Hab. I got one and I am enjoying it. The fuel tank is great and even better when you upgrade to a faster drive.
I love the rambler, exploration is my main interest. I love armories which sold me on it. The fact you have 2 extra chairs for friends is great.
I like the addition of the rambler, and hope to see more variations of some other ships like this.
I also ended up upgrading my standard Cutter to the Rambler, just to prepare for actually living in our ships for some time. But i am also dreading the day when the new aerodynamics come live
At the begining of when you start speaking, gave me skyrim vibes "Hey you, finally awake huh?"
Out of them all cutter starters my personal favorite is the scout considering the scanning mechanics that will be added later on, but this one is more like for when you're going exploring around, chill fly around a planet, more exploration once we get even more settlements. Sadly not a ship i'd keep if i can just afford anything better.
As an extra, with persistence ships as you mentioned, little by little you would find more interesting things, suddenly a c2 in the ground after being attacked by pirates, a battlefield ready to be scavenged, things like that
The rambler always just makes me think of a camper but like one that your friends family has had for ever and swear is the only way to camp. But also I like it

Looking back now, I wish I had this version instead the base model. Those lights are a neccessity on those dark moons!

I’m not usually a Drake fan, but I love the Rambler!
Wing-like surfaces on spaceships seem like they'd fall into 3 categories:
a ) actual wings to allow atmospheric dual-use at the cost of weight
b ) heat radiators
c ) high power antenna arrays
This is my favorite variant of the Cutter. It seems that most don't like it, for some reason. I like all the extra features (gun rack, food machine, table and jump seat).
Food machine that literally does nothing. Cool you like it, but it's just a meh variant. Base version is honestly better.

You and I are of the same mind with the Rambler. I also upgraded my base cutter to this and my overall feelings about it are right in line with where you are with it.
I have one. People complain about not having vehicle cargo space or not having a big cargo space...i don't care. I made it my home ship. Hahaha. Got a lot of trinkets and kitchen stuff, i have even a plant inside.
I use my rambler mostly for exploration and pacific missions
I really like the space Winnebago. It’s not very functional for now but it is really cool, which for a secondary ship is pretty good. Also, landing at MT/Hur locations with anything other than a tiny ship is often a hassle now, so that’s actually a neat bonus for anything this size.

Don't forget. Expedition is the next layer deep to exploration hence it's definition! The Cutter is Explore / Exped variant. Cheers!
I have been searching for a "Van Life" ship for quite some time. The Rambler is that ship for me!
Thanks for the tour! The rambler looks pretty nice for some daily driving or long-distance errands. If you're worried about the loss of cargo space from the original, there's always other ships that could do hauling better anyway.
I would love to get hold of one of these as a basic driver - good for bunker missions and box deliveries

I am not the biggest fan of the Cutter, but I do own the Rambler and the Scout. They are great for getting in and out of and I like using mine to make those runs to ground missions for easy flight and a small parking space.
Ideal for hopping between outposts, POIs, on planets.

Good review of the Rambler. In future ship reviews, may I make a suggestion that it would be helpful to hear a little more detail about how a ship flys, things like SCM and top speeds in space and in atmo at say 1000m would be nice.

I think the Rambler is now my preferred Cutter variant, although for some reason it won't power up in the latest LIVE patch (for me), altho all other ships do. Love the Rambler.

It's funny how some of the most insignificant ships can be so endearing for use in the game. This ship does nothing at a high level, is a jack of some trades master of absolutely none, but somehow its home.
I like the idea of the Rambler. Fits the way I play, sometimes just flying around checking things out in the verse.

I have more capable ships in my fleet...but the cutter is one of my most used ships, it's so handy and got such a great vibe to it

SuperMacBrother well done on this on this video and I found the whole thing very enjoyable.
On a sidenote about our space suits and where we will be storing them in our ships. At some point in time CIG will give us the ability to clean and maintain our suits as well as recharge the battery on it which is used to keep us warm and maintain our life support system in it. I am even willing to bet they might even consider giving us the ability to upgrade our suits and customize them to whatever we want them to be with any available accessories.

Got the Cutter scout myself due to the S2 parts, although i do like the look of the rambler. Maybe i'll buy one for my m8 who's a stick in the mud and hasn't bought SC yet. Soon i will convert him :D

I'm a fan of the Drake line of ships myself. The cross between military function and industrial simplicity speaks to me. I have the Cutlass Black and also looking at getting the Vulture and Corsair in the future.

I love the drake cutter better yet i love cozy feeling ships and the cutter is one of them best ship in the game for me and because of its capabilities but because of the the vibe of the ship
Man, we really need a Crusader starter ship! Something a slight step up, to compete with the Avenger. I love the Cutter Rambler, and the only thing better would be a Crusader ship that had the amenities and great handling that mfg is known for.
I just bought one because it reminds me of an old Ford Transit I used to drive for work. Scruffy, noisy but great for driving and loading.
I kinda dig that. Will need to take a look at the regular cutter I've got on my pirate account and see if I want to upgrade it.
I like the look. I just wish it had some kind of separate functionality. It has the same size tanks if you look at the fuel stats.
i think it's because they didn't touch anithing and basically copy/past scout variant stats. And true stats will come out when we put down nav point and exploration has more flesh on it ? It does annoy me we don't know further real stat

I cant stop noticing how theyre using the blue/orange combo everywhere now. Even on ships. 90% of my steam posters are blue/orange combo. Its everywhere!

Blue and orange are complementary color and fit nicelly for spaceship.
This thing needs a Winnebago livery so we can pretend this is spaceballs.

I always wanted to play this game, it seems that it is better optimized since 2 years ago it seemed impossible to play it with my 1660 super, but at the exchange rate of my country is somewhat expensive to buy it, even the most economical packages, I think this game is amazing and its future is promising, greetings from Colombia.

I ended up upgrading my Cutter starter to a Vulture, but I really like the Rambler. Thinking about melting my Vulture and grabbing this instead. Not sure yet though
