Very nice review. This was my watch, I hope the winner enjoys it. Steinhart also makes a 39mm version of this. They also make a 44mm version, but that is more of a Sea Dweller Homage. If you look at the side profile, this case is not a direct copy of the Submariner. The dial is, however very similar. Basically, if you want a True Automatic GMT, this is probably the best deal. Squale as a GMT called the 30 Atmos Buy it’s a few hundred more. Also, Marc and Sons makes a GMT with his movement that’s closer to the GMT Master than the Sub but is also a few hundred more. If it’s important to anyone, Steinharts qualify as Swiss Made, and have the markings at 6
This is James the winner! Thanks so much I can’t wait to rock my new watch. This absolutely made my day an thanks for all the congrats in the comments. Happy days!
Congrats to the winners and particularly to the one got the Steinhart. Guys enjoy your watches and a big thank you to Rob and Shane for the giveaway!! Live long and prosper Shane!
Great review Shane. Good thing I didn't win because the Steinhart would have been a little too big for my skinny wrist, haha. Thanks again for the opportunity though, and congratulations to the winners!
Very nice of you to offer such beautiful watches as part of your 10,000 subscriber celebration. Congratulations as you continue to grow your Channel, which is always full of very nice content! Keep up the good work...Ed
Thanks for the opportunity and the review. I’m presently still on the hunt for a gmt; however I can’t get past the idea that a proper gmt should have quick set hour hand as opposed to the gmt hand. In my mind gmt hand should track my home time zone and the main hour hand should indicate the current time that I am in. Great work Shane thanks.
I thought I had won a major award, like a bowling alley. Great video Shane, have to admit that a Steinhart has been on my radar for a while; guess I will be parted from some money. :)
Congratulations to the winners. Its a nice enough watch, but definitely on the larger size. I actually like text on a dial, think it's something else of interest to draw your eye. Has its limits of course (don't want a novel on there) but not a big fan of clean dials. But everyone has their own likes and dislikes. Great review as always 👍
@@willardhooton920 The Ocean 39 Vintage GMT is what I'm looking at. Its almost unique and not a homage. Vintaged aged bezel and no crown guards. I'm currently sitting in a Belgian bar talking to the wife and all its going to cost me is some Jimmy Choos. Which I haven't a clue about.
I bought the Ocean 39 Vintage GMT Premium (ceramic Pepsi bezel) four days ago. Put it on Steinhart's Jubilee bracelet for that added retro-vibe. Still can't keep my eyes off that thing, it's so gorgeous. Was a hard call, since I was also looking at their two Batman GMTs (39 stainless and 42 titanium) and those are incredible as well. If you can get your hands on any of these three, I'd highly recommend checking them out.
I have the Steinhart 39mm GMT Pepsi, which has an aluminum insert. I like it very much, except the bracelet goes from 20mm down to 16mm, which is too much on my 7 1/2" wrist. The case and performance is excellent however.
Congratulations James and Sebastian! Thank you for another excellent review Guy...I really want to like the Steinhart GMT but there is just something about it that doesn't work for me :)
Excellent points on the Steinhart! At least get rid of the last two lines of text Steinhart! Will consider others models! The milsub you pointed out looks interesting! Congrats to winners!
The cyclops on the Squale is better (higher magnification and usable) but the thing that really gets me is the ceramic bezel. The numbers are unreadable in most light. Again Squale wins there for me. However, the Steinhart OVM 39 is very nice and would recommend that for a mil sub homage. One negative about the Squale though is on the GMT, I believe the lug width is 21mm which would make strap changes more difficult.
Nice review as usual. If you are interested in budget gmt automatics, orient Polaris and star seeker look good, though not divers. Seems strange to me there are not more Japanese options... Is gmt not that popular?
Congrats to the winners. But i have to be honest, 2nd place was WAY most interesting than this one, imo. I also hate mercedes hands (and crawlex ha!) and can't get what's a 300m sub gmt all together. Plus as i see that bezel is... quite a phantom... Oh cyclops too... keep killing me... Even the dogs didn't like it much Shane, i felt ..you too... (nah???). But as always, fair and square you are. Bravo mate. Keep on.Nice pups!
Shane, can you speak to the flatness of the lugs? A common complaint about Steinhart's sub homages is that the lugs are too flat, and therefore don't wear well on the wrist. Did you not notice that issue here?
@@RelativeTime it's the Rolex 1655. I love that 70's retro vibe. And it comes with an ETA 2893-2. I got mine from GNOMON for $550. Only one probem. I can't take it off. Hahahahaha jajajajajajajajajajaja hahahahaha "STEINHART ROCKS"
I haven't tried a Parnis, and I'm curious what movement they are using. I did pick up a coregut gmt once. The GMT did move independently but it freely rotated which was a little odd. As in it wouldn't jump by an hour when you turn it.
@@RelativeTime I own the Parnis GMT and I believe the movement is a Mingzhu DG3804D. Good value for relatively little money, including sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel as well as a pretty good bracelet. So far is running about -5 sec/day.
In my opinion it is just an expensive fake Rolex GMT that had the name in the dial changed to be called a "homage". The Glycine would be a much better (and original) option.
I prefer my Glycine as well. But otherwise that's a whole other discussion and debate. Personally at this point I think the Sub has evolved from being a watch line created by rolex. Into a whole platform, a sub class of dive watch if you will. I mean everyone and their mother has a subby at this point. let alone whole companies that use it as a basis for a number of models. Just look at NTH. Where they have a number of different dials all in a subby case. It's something I've been thinking about, and debating doing a video on. If your familiar with firearms my theory is sort of like what happened with the Colt 1911 or the AR-15. Colt was the original manufacture of both, but they proved so effective that when the patents ran out a ton of companies started to make their own. To the point that almost every major manufacture makes an AR or a 1911 with their own tweaks. Including some small boutique companies that make high end versions. In the past if you said AR or 1911, everyone associated that with Colt. Yet today if you mention go into a store today and asked to see a 1911 they would ask you which brand. So it's become more of a type of pistol, then a specific firearm.
@ Bekinder DesignChateau I'm not that educated on Rolex history, but just looked it up. Kind of a cool history, I guess originally made for spelunkers so had a ton of lume. Very interesting. Thanks again.

Splendid to see the pups are well!, great review as always. Our pups are playing in a rather rain soaked garden here in the UK

Congrats to both winners!
Congratulations to the winners! Good review spot on in my view. Thanks!
Congrats to the winners. The Steinhart is nice.
Congrats to the winners!
Very even handed review as always.
Congrats to the winners! Thanks Shane, I think this watch just made my list of potential purchases.

Great review again. I've been looking at the Steinhart 39 vintage. I'm currently in fuerteventura and will look at it more closely on my return
Ceeb22 Which one? The OVM or the Vintage GMT Premium? The Vintage GMT Premium is a must have if you like 39mm IMHO!

That Steinhart is really sweet. A more original GMT, would be a Christopher Ward, who are really upping their game. Nice impartial review.

Good review, not a fan of the watch but liked the last steinhart (ocean ?) Congrats to the winners & to you for 12000 sub's. keep up the good work .👍
Congrats Gents!
For me,Shane's Glycine Airman GMT is hard to beat☘

Good review and clip. A GMT (true) is a very good value at this price.
I agree that the mil sub looks the best. From the hands to the dial My favorite submariner homage by far.
I much prefer the 39mm Steinhart watches , they really should make more models in that size
Congrats to the winners and nice review! Not sure about the super reflective bezel, though
I'm with you on the Steinhart, not a fan of Mercedes hands at all. Those Mil subs you showed on their site look quite nice though!
Steinhart diver plus GMT. A perfect deal. I hope that with the same reliability than the plain diver.

Grey leather strap is perfect for this watch. Love the bezel edge, but the number may be a little hard to see in sunlight

the T0211 "OCEAN VINTAGE GMT" is a homage of the first iteration Rolex EXPLORER(ii) from 1971. I have one, and it's AWESOME.
Someone else commented about that. Really cool design, It's so different then any other Rolex I never would of guessed. Now I want one.

OVM and Vintage 39 GMT Premium (never shown)all the way!!
BTW- Thinking Steinhart is superior to NTH or Squale
Nice review once again.
You could always look at a Parnis GMT, if you want a true GMT Master II homage. Seems to be quite decent for the price

👍🏼
Unfortunately this one's just way too big for my wrist. I was worried what I would do when I won the contest, but alas.
What if Phoibos made a GMT?
Can't get past the cyclops, just ruins the aesthetic for me. And the lume, for a watch that price, just doesn't cut it.
Pablo Muslera they offer it with out the cyclops
It’s a nice looking watch. I just don’t like cyclops on the Crystal. I just find them distracting
I have the Steinhart 42mm ceramic sub. And am going to sell this to get the Steinhart Vintage Red.
Heyhe new review🤩
The Orient Polaris is a true GMT for $370 direct from Orient but it sells out quickly.
I always forget about Orient. I even watched a good review of that one.

The Steinhart GMT at 9:50 is an 1:1 homage to a 1970's Rolex Explorer II Ref 1655.

If you want to donate it. Sure 😀
