    100% agree about Steinhart. I bought one. Straight away I bought another. They are gorgeous. And that's from someone who owns a Rolex.... or two.

    I have just received my Steinhart Ocean 2 Black today and it is a beautiful watch. It is a Steinhart's unique design and not a homage to any brands. The curved lugs hug my small wrist very well and greatly reduce the appearance of lug over hang. I love everything about the watch except the teeth on the bezel. The corners on each tooth are very sharp and they catch on clothing especially sweater and fleece material although teeth will not cut your finger or skin. Among the Ocean One 39, Ocean One 42, and Ocean Two that I own, Ocean Two is my favorite. I always wear my Omega Seamaster Professional Chronograph to play to work to sport, now Ocean Two is my go to watch.

    I have a Rolex Submariner. It cost me Euros 1000 to have it serviced and took 6 weeks, In the meantime I purchased a Steinhart Ocean One Premium Blue watch direct from Germany which took one week to arrive. and cost Euros 540. It is a homage to a Rolex Submariner. I was just going to use the Steinhart as an every day knockabout watch and keep the Rolex for special occasions. I am now puzzled. Why buy a Rolex? The Steinhart keeps better time than the Rolex, is better looking and is just as well made

      I only know a couple of people with Rolex watches but I can never figure it out. (yes, I know they are awesome time pieces) Granted, they can afford their watches but even if I could afford one come on, 10 grand for a watch!? I'd rather put it toward the mortgage. There are so many amazing watches out there for thousands less that you don't have to constantly worry about when you're wearing them out and don't have to spend more than your car to service! 😊

    TL/DR Wow... changed my mind or showed me more considerations on a lot of what I thought were my preferences. Educational descriptions observations personal prefetences and why as well as how another person might feel differently (and for very good reason, just differing from his personal preferences), introduced me to considerations I thought i woukd not like and now have deeper understanding of how and when I might have assumed against my actual preferences but actually might have been wrong/learned later, various viewpoints, a lot to consider I woukd not have thought of.
    Thank you so much. I especially appreciate your distinction that although this aesthetically is not your personal style, multiple times, you accentuated why in specific observations and included observations that still higglighted the qualities that you admire in regards (albeit not your specific use case preference) to those facets which offers the viewer a chance to see multiple sides of an aesthetic preference including the objective observations with adjectives you have chosen... which might typically be bias-ing, though I really appreciate your eloquence in establishing 1) your personal taste preference and subjective perspective 2) examples of what you observe that do not align with your personal preferences 3) a description and observations of those specificqlly as well as all the different characteristics you cover 4) basically... you outline the objective observations, you include positive observations that you respect and despite your preferences which you state in a clearly subjective reasoning, are potential desirable characteristics for your viewer and that really offers the viewer a spectrum of considerations with muktiple viewpoints which, for me, makes it easy to be in your shoes and simultaneously imagine how i might respond to the watch you are holding... looks, lines, overall aesthetic, quality, how it feels, various use-case scenarious it might be appropriate for (your "ironic" contrasting of masculine and elegant really said a lot, in addition to in words that make sense and i think boil a lot of considerations down into a few words)
    As examples, some takeaways that i noted (quotes or close paraphrases, though out of context(!) (if someone reading this might not watch the video based on my comment, I implore you consider otherwise- it is absolutely worth a consideration, I opine, even if this watch seems potentially big, or otherwise (it is (was) far outside my imagined ideal watch, per specs) because of the inherent cultural and subjective difference in word 'meanings'- this watch seems 'on paper' far from meeting my ideal characteristics, however, this video and the creator's commentary, observations, etc. gave me a very 'in-person'-like experience that exhibited considerations I naturally decided against in my imagination, and now see the potential personal benefits in considerations I could not have made without: experience from owning many watches, having this watch in hand, or experiencing the descriptive depth and breadth of considerations as witnessed through this video).

    Nice to see a premium watch from Steinhart that is not a Rolex homage. The design details on the caseback are beautiful and a real selling point for me Like you, I prefer the aesthetics of the black version. However 43 mm makes it a bit of a wrist monster,, and the prominent knurling around the bezel (and stem) edge looks to me like it would be inclined to catch on clothing , as compared to the more streamlined bezel of the Ocean One series. Are there any other owners out there who would care to comment on those features?

    • @alphacentauri1979

      Yes catch on clothing

    • @seayak
      @seayak Рік тому

      @@alphacentauri1979 I got the black dial version - it does indeed catch on clothing, but that is the only quibble i have on an otherwise stunning watch. The caseback is simply gorgeous, and the 43 mm size with more downturn in the lugs than the Ocean One series wears more like a 42.

    • @BarryMikokinju
      @BarryMikokinju Рік тому

      Very much tempted by this one precisely because of the teeth. It's unlike anything else, just like the typeface, the clunky minute dial: like you said, it's a unique design, and if that comes with ripping some fabric I'm still down like Charlie

    • @seayak
      @seayak Рік тому

      @@BarryMikokinju Hi Barry: I have the black one, which I much prefer aesthetically, though that is surely a personal thing. The back of this watch is as stunning as the front. The teeth make both the bezel and the stem very easy to manipulate, though this does have the downside of catching on things, which honestly has not been a big issue for me. This watch has the SW 330-2, movement which I prefer for its slightly longer power reserve and much easier winding action, as compared to the SW 200 series. This is a GMT capable-movement, as used in the Ocean one GMT series, with the GMT function not implemented in this example, you just have to wind the stem backwards (I think, from memory) to set the date. I have been delighted with this watch, and recommend it to anyone who is comfortable with the larger size of a 43 mm case.

    • @seayak
      @seayak Рік тому

      @@BarryMikokinju One more comment, which is that the date is very small and hard to read, at least for my aging eyes. It would benefit from an internal cyclops, if it were possible to fit one to the watch face, as opposed to the crystal.

    Very nice. I have it too. I searched forever on a good diver that's really unique and this screamed to me. Gets old seeing all the Rolex Homages not that I hate the design but u know. Outside of Seiko that's generally the look. Plus I got it slightly used for a great deal. One of the most impressive lumes too.

    hey alex great vid. but what do u think of the ocean one double green ceramic or the hulk as they call it. thats the one with the see thru caseback.

    • @seayak
      @seayak Рік тому

      Have the kermit ceramic version in 39 mm on the Steinhart bracelet. Love it but if I had to do it again I would get the hulk with the more interesting dial and the exhibition caseback. Have ordered a Steinhart fitte green rubber band with clasp just to try out - it looks pretty nice in the pictures (shown with the 42 mm watch on the website).

    • @seayak
      @seayak Рік тому

      I since acquired the 42 mm hulk double green ceramic version with the see through caseback and love it too. I still have the kermit version in 39 mm, and can't decide which I like better. The hulk is the dressier, flashier watch, while the smaller kermit is more subtle. It is nice to have both sizes! I had the kermit on the Steinhart fitted rubber band, but have since switched it back to the bracelet.

  • @zash008

    I am trying to put the Steinhart rubber strap on the new Ocean2 Premium watch. The strap is shaped so precise to fit too perfect against the curved case that I am unable to get the pins to snap into the holes in the lugs. Anyone know a trick to do this? I don't want to risk a jeweler scratching the watch after experiencing how difficult it is. If it can be done, this strap is gonna be WATER TIGHT against the case!
    This is an AWESOMELY nice looking beautifully made watch.

    • @seayak
      @seayak Рік тому

      It says right on the website that this strap will not fit on the Ocean 2 - I would send it back for a refund or replacement. Presumably this band was designed for the Ocean One series, and won't conform to the more pronounced curvature on the Ocean Two

      Be careful, it says right on the Steinhart website that their black rubber strap, which presumably was designed for the Ocean One series, will NOT fit on the Ocean Two, which has considerably more downturn on the lugs.
