People need to get together, band and demand the government to make it illegal to put fiberglass in mattresses or furniture. People, start calling your reps and senators of your state to pass a bill for this!
How about we just ban the federal government then all will be well. They are the ones that made this bullshit law. They do everything they can to fu*k the American people over!
Or someone who's at their wits end might just find the people who run these company's and do something that will make national news for the greater good so no one else has to deal with stress like this.
Your intention is certainly noble, however this is actually a much more complex matter. Believe me, you do NOT want the govt to ban fiberglass in beds. Fiberglass actually began being used in place of much much, much more dangerous fire retardant materials that were carcinogenic. Federal law requires beds to be fire retardant to a certain degree. In order to achieve this, manufacturers were using all sorts of nasty materials that again were much more dangerous than fiberglass. Ironically using fiberglass was a huge breakthrough. , Most memory foam matteresses under $1000 today have fiberglsss inside as a fire retardant. The alternative is much more expensive beds or another breakthrough in materials.
I'm sorry to have to inform you, but the government is responsible for this. In 2007 the Consumer Product Safety Commission began requiring all mattresses sold in the US to be flame retardant. As a result, all companies except Sleep Essentials, makes their mattresses flame retardant using either fiberglass or toxic chemicals. The CPSC did this for the chemical industry, large mattress manufacturers, and perhaps fiberglass manufactures to make more money through these idiotic regulations. Do a lot of homework before buying ANY mattress.
@@snelwasnthere You are joking, right? The same reason why they coat furniture and chairs without zippers. You can just put the mattress in the cover and sew it shut so customers don't try to open it.
Zinus responded to an Amazon questions post and stated that all their mattresses contain glass fiber flame retardants in their cover. Purple also has it but it's embedded. Took me a while but I finally found one without it. I'm not okay with a mattress getting damaged or ripped one day and releasing that all over your home. As shown it will literally never come out.
@@unicornwizhez4115 Apparently according to laws and regulations we do hence why we have them in our beds . Don't you see that a sponge mattress is highly flammable? The fire barrier can make the difference between giving you a few extra minutes to get away from the fire.
Literally am dealing with this right now. This is ridiculous.....why would you cover a mattress in fiberglass? It’s hazardous to human health. Cheap way to make the mattress fire retardant? And no warning of potential health hazard on the label at all. This is just ridiculous.
It is ridiculous I’m going through the same thing and idk how to get it out of my clothing it’s been a week now and I have a seven yo that can’t even come in my room to watch movies at night with me I got rid of the mattress but my clothes are completely messed up
It's sad how these mattress manufacturers don't even list the material composition on their website to prevent buyers from buying their cheap Chinese-made products! There should be a class-action lawsuit against Zinus and all of their subsidiaries.
I have one of these mattresses I bought on Amazon in 2016. It clearly states 1) only spot clean 2) never remove the mattress cover 3) the internal cover contains fiber glass (even notes a percentage). It's on the tag that says remove under penalty of law. The only person to blame here is the consumer who didn't read the care instructions and then took a week to clean a cover. I hate to sound like a jerk but these mattresses cost $100-$140. You get what you pay for especially if you don't follow care instructions. While I empathize with her and her families situation it's the reason you should never DIY without doing due diligence and reading any instructions.
@@ElGrecoDaGeek Even people who are under heavy financial pressure should be able to sleep on a non toxic mattress. Most of these mattresses have zippers which suggest they can be removed. Luckily I was able to find a low priced mattress (Arctic Dreams) that doesn't use fiberglass for its fire resistance. They use a Rayon-Silica blend fabric instead.
It's only an issue if you remove the cover. The fiber glass fibers are too long/big to work their way through the cover. I have one of these mattresses I bought on Amazon in 2016. I’m going threw the same issue but I purchased my mattress from wayfair. On the product description it’s says spot clean only but it also says cover is washable. Took the cover off and now it’s everywhere. Manager apologized and sent me a link for a refund. They want me to waive my right not to sue.

@@ElGrecoDaGeek mine states that first layer is washable and second layer should not remove. I sent zinus a pic of the tag and they just reply that the tag was an old tag.
This is how I was able to get things clean enough to sleep well at night with no itching: 1. Get rid of the mattress-- I never took the cover off but they still got through the outer cover. I wouldn't try to seal the fibers in. Not worth the risk. 2. Vacuum carpets with a HEPA filter. Go in different directions, have a fan blowing out a window since vacuums can kick up dust. Or remove carpeting I guess. 2. Have your dryer vent cleaned. It may be clogged enough that it allows some fiberglass & lint back onto your clothes-- Even after buying new clothes, washing/drying them once made them itchy again, but when hang-dried they were fine. Dryer vents need to be cleaned every few years anyway. 3. Hand wash/rinse contaminated clothes to get it all out.--This was what made a night and day difference. Try vinegar too if you want. I guess my HE front loading washer just doesn't agitate the clothes enough to get all the glass out. After doing this, I had my first good night of sleep in 3 months and it hasn't failed in 5 days. Hopefully only one or two washes is enough. Vacuuming with an upholstery attachment didn't work as well. I'm still wary that they can get re-contaminated since I live with roommates who aren't as sensitive as me and wash/dry their clothes in the same machines, but we'll see if running a rinse cycle before I use them really works.
@Liz Lee So after 3 weeks I can say confidently that the problem was other people's contaminated clothes being washed in the machine, not the fibers floating around or anything. Now that I hand wash my clothes I'm 100% back to normal. Idk if it'll work for you, but if it's really the fiberglass it might make a difference.
@Liz Lee I just recently got my entire room exposed to fiberglass. Outside of the apple cider vinegar, getting rid of contaminated items, and hand washed/cleaning anything and everything, what else would you recommend? I've seen you've been dealing with this for a long while so I just figured you might have some tip or tricks that I could use. Unfortunately, I can't get rid of the mattress as I don't have the money to replace it, but I did put on a cover to hopefully seal in anything else that might come out. I will be getting rid of it once I am sure that the room is good enough to move new stuff in to. I will also be getting rid of any clothes that has been contaminated and putting anything else in bags that might be contaminated
I am currently working with fiberglass in normal clothing. While it does suck for a day or so after. The itching goes away after a while. I reuse my clothes and wash them on heavy cycle. No need to throw things away.
So relieved to hear this I’m pregnant and literally crying because I took the cover off and I can’t afford to throw it away my baby will be here in weeks and my little one sleeps on the same bed with me at the moment he’s 4 so I feel horrible to have let this happen (we slept on the mattress without the cover to wash it)
Do not EVER remove the cover for any reason. I feel like they didn’t quite drive this point all the way home. Otherwise it’s best to get rid of the mattress all together. I have one that I am considering getting rid of myself. Sucks, because it was over $500 and is relatively new.
It's impossible to remove, wash, and put it back on. If you remove it, basically have to throw it away. Fiberglass gets everywhere. Even if you wash the cover it just makes it worse n then you have to wash your washer.
I think I have a fiber glass mattress too! The brand is huntington home. Do not take the cover off please it says it has glass fiber and to not take the cover off
This just happen to me today and I have sick pets at home and didn’t realize my spouse took off the cover of the toddler bed and threw it in the laundry. When I took everything to the bedroom to fold, I saw things flying and it didn’t hit me until now that it’s fiber glass. Now I’m here researching how to clean this up and an now realizing I need to toss everything that came in direct contact considering I can’t get rid of my whole house. How frustrating!!! I wish I would have known soon these beds contain fiberglass!
lol the fire sock that encases the foam is fiberglass lined so they dont have to use the fire retardant chemicals that cause contact derm. and inhalation issues. the mattress has to be treated in some way to be fire retardant to be sold in the US legally i believe. i made the capital mistake of taking off the cover and washing mine!!! its basically foam, fiberglass, then zipper cover. i had no idea what it was bc i purchased from a 3rd party seller, and they never thought to tell me. my entire room, washer, clothes, floor, mattress, and me where covered in this shiny "lint" i started having severe allergies earlier on, so i thought id wash it...it wasnt allergies, and a few months after i got rid of it, my "allergies" hives on my back, legs, and arms, subsided...please if anyone is reading this, never unzip the zinus green tea mattress, you will regret it and then have to throw everything away...you also itch uncontrollably as fiberglass feels like bugs under the skin. why is there even a zipper!!!??
I had the same mattress and same issue with it. Washed the cover in my washing machine and the washing machine held fiberglass and ruined almost all of our clothes and linen. It’s a mess. My 6 year old and I have both been sick and broken out for months.
I can't believe 1 mattress has become such a problem for me. All my clothes itch like crazy and it isn't fixed with repeated washing. I may toss out all my clothes because of fiberglass contamination
I have a two year old nectar bed and am just now learning about this. It’s on a flat ikea frame with no box spring but I’ve taken off the cover a few times to wash it and then put it right back on not even realizing it was fiberglass under it! We’re getting rid of it now and my husband has been vacuuming all Morning with a air filter going and keeping the door shut, but because it’s been hot we’ve had a fan on in there the past few days and it must have blown it all around the room because it’s frosted lightly all over all our clothes! I washed our only blanket and a sheet with the outer cover and a protective cover that I can placed under that but I guess that’s Pointless now…..
I have had the same problem 😥 didn't see the warning. Saw a commercial of a couple trying to put their whole mattress in the wash and a comment on the video was like "that's why your mattress cover has a zipper, just wash that" upon removal, the fiberglass looked like feathers, as I've never seen fiberglass before. I looked up "glass splinters" after seeing it everywhere, washed all my clothes 3 times, getting rid of most of them, vacuumed and lint rolled the bed and room surfaces religiously. In re-decorating the room, the bed frame was rotated and the mattress picked up. In being picked up, more fiberglass exploded out of it. It's a polyurethane mattress made in 2014 and I'm so tired 😖 cant fine the lint rollers, just did laundry and the vaccum is dead 😭
did it to 4 twin size beds. all of my kids had this mattress bought it in 2017 so I was like, ok its time to wash them its been a while but little did I know I was getting my self and family in a nightmare. I have had to throw away all their bedding pillow plush toys and bunch of school uniforms and clothes. it has cost me way to much money that I don't have. why even put a zipper on something you shouldn't wash
Literally everyone's saying that the tag says you shouldn't remove it but then why is the zipoer there in the first place? I am literally dealing with this right now :( this literally was my last straw, the itching makes me insane. These matress companies should be SUED for doing this.
I have this exact problem. I might have the exact same mattress too. I've had sparkles all over my clothes and I've seen sparkles in the air. I had been sleeping on the fiberglass mattress for almost a month.
shawn love im going through it right now im so desperate because nothing has work, I literally threw my whole room out and probably i have to throw my clothes too if soaking with vinegar and hot water don’t work.. im going to do some of my old clothes to see how it goes before messing up everything and i can update you, also they say to wash the walls with vinegar and soap and if you have carpet in your room its best to change that too..
@@shawnlove2603 hey. I've pretty much combated the problem with minimal belonging loss. I bagged all of my fabric items and washed them, and then controlled most of them. We used the Bush fixture on our vacuum to get most of it off the floor. Wet paper towel worked well on the walls and wood items. And we also of course disposed of the mattress immediately and covered in in plastic. We brought it to a dump. Hope this helps! 😁
@Liz Lee thankfully, I haven't seen a trace of the crap in a while. It was EVERWHERE a few months back, but after rigorous cleaning It is completely gone.
My Ashley furniture queen 12" foam matress leaked fiberglass through the bottom where the cover is black and a different material. It took months to find the source and now my life is a nightmare and worse for my cats. I can't afford to move out and joined a class action lawsuit. I'm glad I found the source but my HVAC ducts and fabrics are all contaminated. I have to buy a new bed, new clothes, new dryer, new vacuum, clean my vehicles and try my best to keep my cats healthy. It's been a month of cleaning and my cats are still sick. They all stopped eating and hide in areas with fresh air. They eat mostly wet food now which is expensive. They all lick their lips and cried for months before I found out why. I thought it was bad cat food to laundry detergent for weeks until I saw fiberglass in my shirt after itching. I just want to give up and sell the house at this point. I care more about my cats than myself and have been wearing old clothes I had in totes. I have to clean every single day and getting in the crawl spaces to take apart the duct work stresses me out thinking about it. I hate these companies who get away with this
Maybe a hazard company can help, hepa air filter and hepa vaccum, the clothes I would say cold water washes with lots of rinses and air dry. The washer and dryer may have to go
@@donew1thita11 I got it out of the clothes I could salvage. Bought a $100 HEPA air purifier and will be getting another. New bagged hepa vaccum and microfiber cloths for the walls and boxed up lots of stuff to wipe down outside. It's so much work but ELG has a class action lawsuit against the 3 top brands so I'm hoping I can get what I'm owed for my losses, doctor bills vet bills and just all the hours of work and mental stress doing it on my own. I need to get a get the vents cleaned before I can use heat this winter and I'm dreading that price quote. 2 of my cats are doing better but one is going to the vet tomorrow from wheezing sneezing and he's obviously still irritated. I'm considering selling the house. My yard is contaminated and it I still have a lot of work left.
@@Xxmeca421xX Hey I know this post was from a year ago but I just had this happen to me. It’s the worst nightmare I’ve ever lived through. Please if you have any tips for cleaning let me know.
Same. I had no idea the mattress has fiberglass on it. My dog puked on the bed so i took the cover off to wash it. Was fine 2 other times i washed it for similar reasons. I washed it in with my regular laundry... This time it left fiberglass everywhere. I'm sooo itchy.
Mine was sold to me without the cover and I'm covered in plastic glass fibres I went to the dry cleaners today and they couldn't even get it out im so lost I don't know what to do
I have been suffering from my Zinus bed frame emitting off-gassing chemicals. The odor is so Strong that, for months, I thought a pipe bursted in my bedroom wall. I ordered a new bed from a different company. Can’t wait to throw this thing OUT!
I had an old mattress topper rolled up in storage and just took it out and washed the cover. Had no idea about this and now the stuff is everywhere. Can't believe this is even legal.
So I took the cover off to wash like a lot of others but threw it away after noticing the fiber glass layer. Then I just put a couple of mattress toppers both ways and vacuumed. My family and I have been using it for a year no problem. I did get exposed to fiberglass when I removed the cover of course.
*dealing with this shit, had to throw away the bed and other things got a new bed finding out has fiber glass TOO and I didn’t remove nothing at all my sheets are covered in this and I’m so frustrated and crying because I have to go thru this once again at this point I need to throw away EVERYTHING AND now I’m thinking of sleeping on the ground after this because I’m just so trama and I don’t know what to do with this situation*
Please help. My husband removed the cover off my daughter's mattress after she peed the bed. He threw the cover in the wash with the rest of her bedding. I knew about this problem so I panicked and he grabbed it out of the washing machine. We then threw the cover on the mattress and wrapped a sheet around it and took it outside. It was exposed for maybe 10 minutes. I vacuumed with my shark and we realized the box spring had some on it. my husband wrapped that in a sheet and we took that outside as well. We used a lint roller on areas around the bed and didn't really find any shiny pieces. My question is how long before she can go back in her bedroom? I washed her bedding twice. Now i'm questioning if I should just throw it out or not. She has some clothes sitting on top of her dresser. Should I wash them or just throw them away? I used a flashlight on my clothing I wore to do my initial cleanup and don't see anything. I also have had the door shut and have been running my very large Shark Air cleaner. Should I have closed off vents and air returns?? I'm panicking right now. thanks
I am a keen guy. Now let me describe what you will feel when these fine bits of bad fiberglass land on your skin. You try to brush the shards off your skin - it is a little bit like porcipine quills that have backed-up barbs - IT WILL HURT when you try to brush them off. Basically they are like new skin tags that are difficult to get off. Vacuuming it is the only way to get rid of them but here is the new problem - the shards are like a strong magnet - something like super glue on your skin.
Ours was Lull brand and we had to use the Dyson vacuum which helped a lot, now we are trying to get it out of the washer, does anyone know if the purple mattress is the same ?
Jesus this just happened to me, like an idiot I took off the outer cover .. now my my whole apartment is covered in fiberglass... clothes everything... I wanna cry because I have to throw everything out and get new carpet. 😥😥😥😢
My mattress is pretty much the same as that one but I don't know if it has fiberglass and I have accidentally burnt a small area with my soldering tool
Right now I’m dealing with it … I really wanna cry this is being the worst nightmare of our lives my husband and I we just moved and we realized that all our clothes got fiber glass…can somebody help me !!! I really wanna take some action should I videotape what I’ve been dealing with? I really feel disappointed ☹️ I wanna make sure and show the world about how dangerous this is ?
Why would anyone remove a cover on a mattress that is what asthma covers are for. To keep a mattress well clean also keep safe incase a home/apt were to get a case of bed bugs. I bought an icomfort for my daughter very comfortable with an asthma cover and good deep pocket sheet on. She has asthma and has not had any increase in symptoms but I’m now worried and will be researching.
@Liz Lee you have to get out of that house and throw everything away i dont care if you have to live in a tent get out of there if yours was zinus mattress there is a class action law suit on them
thank you for posting this. my nectar mattress has caused same issue in my house I believe. I thought I was allergies to my furnature all of a sudden. then the kitchen chairs, them all the carpeting. all's I had left was my new bed. I also thought someone tracked poisin ivy in house or had a hidden mold problem. thank you so much. its even harder to find a bed without this propriety sock bed cover. the companies are not required to tell anyone what they use to fire proof bed. it took me over 5 emails to find out. this video confirmed it.
Any mattress that has fiber glass on the inside clearly states on the tag (the one that says remove under penalty of law) to only spot clean, and never remove the cover. IT also lists fiber glass as a component of the inner fire retardant cover. I know this because after reading about this today I looked on the Zinus mattress we bought 3 years ago. IF you follow those instructions and care for the mattress then it will never become a bio-hazard. That said I will likely avoid buying another such mattress if at all possible but as long as the cover is cared for and a damaged mattress is disposed of rather than treated the way this lady treated hers (i.e. not reading warnings on the outer cover) then these mattresses are find and are chemical free (unlike non-fiber glass). In the end these things cost $100-150 for a twin; they aren't primo and I'd rather buy a new one than salvage a damaged one and end up with $$,$$$ EPA hazard in my house.
@@pacificH2O The little tufts of fiberglass actually look similar to goose feathers lol. Until reading a review on amazon I was totally unaware that my mattress had fiberglass in it. I had washed it so many times but religiously picked up any of the fiberglass I could find. Seems like most had a worse situation than I.
I wished I had known this before. Yesterday I removed the cover to wash it, and my whole apartment is full of fiber glass. I don't know what to do now to clean it.🤬
I believe most bed manufactures use fiberglass in their mattresses. So what is the difference that the Zinus brand is having this issue over any other manufacture? Is it because of the cheap cover?
Just happened to me last week. I've been tryinf to wash and now I'm about to get a shark vaccum and I've thrown out a lot of things but I dont believe I can get it out of everything and I dont know what to do. I wish I could move but my lease isnt up until September 2020!
B&A All Day I did same thing. After much crying I’m finding small things that help but have yet to get totally started it’s super overwhelming with figuring out where to start. I’ve been using strong tape to get the visible fibers off our clothes before we put on. I cleaned one room about to throw away these beds but worried if I move them I’m going to spread it worse so I need to find large amount of plastic. Also found this link that seems pretty helpful www.kleen-touch.com/Cleaning-Up-FIberglass-Contamination.html
Yup. Same thing with me; Zinus Spa sensations mattress from Walmart. This does not require any moisture or damage at all. Simply sleeping on the mattress for a few years eventually wears out that fiberglass sock so that there will be bits flying about when you take off the cover. There is NO warning, marking, anything AT ALL on the cover. It just seems like a waterproof mattress cover. Now I’m coughing and shit. This is not good.
Dealing with this as we speak! Same mattress from Zinus, Spa. Sensations. My label came with care instructions to not only remove and clean outer cover but how to clean the inner cover of fiber glass. My 4 bedroom townhome is contaminated with fiber glasss. Everything is covered in it. I have to stay at my moms with my kids. Zinus will only deal with u threw email. Have not offered any help. I had to call a specialized cleaning company to come look at it. They want$4,435 to clean and dispose. Still need my clothes and other belongings replaced. Anyone helps get any help from Zinus? What did they do? And how long did it take?
Hi guys, This has just happened to me but I caught it during midcycle in the washer took it out while wet i put in a bag brought it outside along with the mattress with no cover. Mattress sitting in my room with no cover for maybe 20mins. I put the cover back on the mattress and left it outside. It has only been in my room only, I have sliding door to backyard. I cant tell if my room is now contaminated with these glass fibers and if it will get everywhere else in the house. Please advise!
I understand the concern, but why would anyone think it's okay to remove the cover and/or damage the mattress? That was not a tiny little hole. This was just plain stupid.
My family is going thru this too in may 2020 we bought a king mattress on Amazon and we loved the bed it was comfy and everything until one day I took off the cover and it says you can wash it and I did cuz my son spilled milk, and the next day I put it on my daughter's felt itchy and my husband and my son and me too . It was only one night I took it off till the next night the room was covered with shiny fibers all over our clothes blankets and TV counter everything we got out asap and I ended throwing away my sons clothes and husband's and all blankets pillows everything and this was with the best choice mattress on Amazon a memory foam mattress as well . Beware . Now the room is quarantined and im trying to find a way to clean the air make sure its breathable and so we can open up the room again . We are all now sleeping in my daughter's small room all four of us . I like some info how would you recomend to clean the walls and air in the room . Ive thought of just painting the room over again all over even the cealling and we made a box fan with cardboard and three filters taped with the window open to clean and circulate the air .but im worried of the walls and everyhthing around.
I want it safe and breathable for my son especially hes ony 3 and I dont want any respiratory issues for him in the future because of this mattress that ruind our lives . Any info or tips please comment what I can do to clean up the fiberglass in the room and safe to reenter
Im going threw the same thing right now i wish i would have never bought the ashleys sleep essentials plus pillow its the same thing as this poor women went threw for us
I don't know, mine says clearly not to remove the cover. You buy a mattress protector (waterproof) and wash that, not the cover. Also, most mattresses have fiberglass. The issue with Zinus is te cover is easily removed then again you shouldn't remove it.
That’s what I can’t understand I wouldn’t remove a cover even if it said. This is what asthma zipper covers are for but I still don’t think fiberglass should be on anything at all.
I did my homework and since it was time to replace my mattress, I created my own bed by buying pure organic latex, bamboo encasement, a huge roll of natural wool, breaded it and put it as a top cover. I sleep like a baby. :)
That’s awesome, sounds like a great business idea? If you have the means to share your creation I’m definitely keen to hear more about it. Using natural materials is excellent and has its own challenges (I.e mould and fire resistance) and I’m certain you’d find others interested in your findings, due all the chemicals and non renewable materials manufacture relies on a lot and in we create a demand for either knowingly or unknowingly. If the total price is similar to the market cost of these mattresses in question I’d hazard a guess that it would be worth it for families and the environment for them to take the time to make their own. I look forward to hearing from you Marilyn. All the best, Matt
I always washed my mattress cover and would come back with all my bedding making me itchy we thought it was the detergent. But this time around all the shiny slivers were EVERYWHERE and I can’t seem to get rid of them they bleed through now the cover and the sheets. And I’m disgustingly broke I can’t even get a bother new mattress ;/ I guess it only takes a couple of washes for fiber glass to get removed from fabrics but I’m afraid to sleep tonight incase it ends up in my eyes
What is best is that we change fire retardant standards in the US! They are extremely outdated when they were first put into effect by cigarette companies receiving pushback in the 70s because people were falling asleep with lit cigarettes in bed. We have grown and been educated as a society and these standards need to go.
READ THIS: This video is 100% accurate. Do as he says. BUT FIRST: DO NOT PUT ANYTHING IN YOUR WASHING MACHINE/DRYER. You will ruin them. This happened to me, luckily it was contained to just 1 bedroom, but I had to throw away: mattress (obviously), 75% of my clothing, all my furniture, my drapes, curtains, etc, repaint the ENTIRE room, walls and ceiling, and start FROM SCRATCH with my bedroom. I ended up biting the bullet and buying one of those $1k organic mattresses, worth it. I had to vaccum the carpet probably 50 times. Air purifier is 100% NECESSARY. Masks. Hazmat Suit. and get yourself about 10 of the STRONGEST/WIDEST lint rollers you can get. Like the kind that are a foot wide and are advertised for pet hair. My experience with clothes? ...well good news and bad news. Bad news, there no easy option. Its stretching your favorite band t-shirt over an ironing board and lint rolling it 50 times, checking it EVERYTIME with a high powered flashlight for those little shiny fuckers. Good news? With many hours of due diligence, you can save an article of clothing. But NO you can't just wash it 20 times with vinegar or borax or something. You gotta manually pull out those fuckers with tape, lots and lots of tape. God-fucking-bless those going through this. WARN YOUR FRIENDS. BUY A GOOD MATTRESS. I slept a whole night on my Zinus fiberglass mattress without the cover... expecting cancer any day now. These (should be illegal) mattresses are like a bomb detonating in your room. AVOID at all costs and prepare to do a factory-reset on your room in hazmat gear. The hardest and most accurate truth in this video: Prepare to say goodbye to a lot of your stuff. Put your dearest valuables in a garbage bag and clean them later, but MOST of your shit is going in the dump. So try to go full Marie Kondo about it, and just reset your life.

nowhere or nobody tells you its fiberglass, I just now figured out this describes my issue exactly. mattresses are required to be fire proof. these companies claim they dont use any chemicals. they do not have to disclose what the fire retardant is or what method they use. ive been itching for 6 months. bought a chemical free bed and I opened it up and found a cover that looks similar. it took 8 emails before company admitted they use fiberglass on cover. the mom did nothing wrong. did you know bed covers were made of fiberglass? didnt think so/
I bought it and on the box, assuming you take the time and effort to... Read. You can clearly see where it says fiberglass. This may be the result of incidents like this in the past but on my box it says it.
Ironically using fiberglass was a huge breakthrough.
,
Most memory foam matteresses under $1000 today have fiberglsss inside as a fire retardant.
Still nothing has happened

@Liz Lee The other option is to buy a mattress with fire retardant chemicals in the fabric.
@Liz Lee Its either those chemicals or fiberglass, the bed has to have some sort of fire resistance in order to be sold
It was walmart
no one should.

This is how I was able to get things clean enough to sleep well at night with no itching:
I'm confused why no one seems to mention using mattress protectors on their bed that cover the mattress itself.
The issue is with time the outer covers break down and start seeping fiberglass through.
I'm dealing with the same problem right now. I'm having to replace all of our blankets and sheets...so far.
I just got to the cause of family itching. Yes, washed kids cover. I've had to throw out, clothes, bedding, toys. So upsetting.
It's impossible to remove, wash, and put it back on. If you remove it, basically have to throw it away. Fiberglass gets everywhere. Even if you wash the cover it just makes it worse n then you have to wash your washer.

I can't believe she let them play and destroy that mattress for over a week before replacing the cover. Of course that was going to happen.
Thomas Brown just happened to me today and I thought they were goose feathers inside the covering
This happend to me last week, can you tell me who you contacted first for help, this is alittle overwhelming thanks
@@041375lalo Why would you think that?
@@pacificH2O Because who would imagine there was fiberglass in friggen mattresses!
I don't know what to do now to clean it.🤬
how did u fix it?
I believe most bed manufactures use fiberglass in their mattresses. So what is the difference that the Zinus brand is having this issue over any other manufacture? Is it because of the cheap cover?
@Johnny Chavez i get that. What i don't get is why sinus seems to have a problem with it breaking down and causing issues over other manufactures.
No, it's because people don't read and think that since the mattress has a zipper, it's safe to unzip after using for some time.
airbeds safer for kids hehe less itchy less mites
Update?
@@donew1thita11 I think I’m ok. Definitely was scared at the time but no longer coughing
What about steam cleaning any and all fiber in the home along with instantly vacuuming right afterwards?
Usually the steamers have a vacuum function
Bro... This is my mattress wtf..
Is Slumber Solutions a bad brand for fiberglass?
How can I fill a lawsuit i have the same bed and all my clothes and sofas have fiberglass in it
Dealing with this as we speak!
No these sorry companies making this garbage is stupid. Nobody thinks there will be fiberglass in the matress
This is messed up, even scared to wear clothes now and they are super uncomfortable
Any info or tips please comment what I can do to clean up the fiberglass in the room and safe to reenter
what ??? ive found that fiberglass on my clothes and no wonder im so itchy, not sick but im scared now
So where do we take it if it old.
We are going through the same thing this is terrible
Im going threw the same thing right now i wish i would have never bought the ashleys sleep essentials plus pillow its the same thing as this poor women went threw for us
I don't know, mine says clearly not to remove the cover. You buy a mattress protector (waterproof) and wash that, not the cover.
Also, most mattresses have fiberglass. The issue with Zinus is te cover is easily removed then again you shouldn't remove it.
This was no help for ppl who already removed the cover. Thanks anyway tho.
Use duct tape on your skin and buy an air mattress
You are lucky..my clothes have been so contaminated that even 4 washes makes no difference. I will try soaking them overnight now
@@yeyamusic yes I ended up having to use tape on my skin to pull them out.
What is best is that we change fire retardant standards in the US! They are extremely outdated when they were first put into effect by cigarette companies receiving pushback in the 70s because people were falling asleep with lit cigarettes in bed. We have grown and been educated as a society and these standards need to go.
wow this just happened to me. any advice on clean up
Liz Lee : Sending lots and lots of fucking? Huh? Hopefully not on that itchy mattress!
How do you get it out of the washer and dryer
how did u fix it? i have the same issue
@@PapiChuIo right now I’ve been taking my non infected clothes to my moms to wash and I’ve been soaking my clothes in white distilled vinegar and then washing in the washer and dryer . Of course it’s not gonna come out in one go so honestly I’ve been trying to get it all out sense 4 weeks ago if definitely has a lot less fiberglass but I can’t afford a new washer or dryer or clothes so I just keep washing and drying till it’s all out I vacuum my dryer and I vacuum the lent catcher in the dryer everytime I dry clothes to help keep up on getting the fiber glass out . Sorry I hope that helps 😕 white distilled vinegar is what other people recommend me

It takes ten days to wash a mattress cover
this is so fuckin crazy, and the word isnt being spread fast enough about these affordable memory foam mattresses, theyre only cheap because of the fiber glass in them...
Took the cover off our sons this morning to wash and put it back on. Then my chest started to itch. Realized my shirt had fiberglass all over it. Time to toss this mattress. Maybe we've figured out why my son coughs in bed every morning.

You bought a fiberglass bed. Had your kids play in the inside of the bed where the fiber glass is, and now you want to sue?
nowhere or nobody tells you its fiberglass, I just now figured out this describes my issue exactly. mattresses are required to be fire proof. these companies claim they dont use any chemicals. they do not have to disclose what the fire retardant is or what method they use. ive been itching for 6 months. bought a chemical free bed and I opened it up and found a cover that looks similar. it took 8 emails before company admitted they use fiberglass on cover. the mom did nothing wrong. did you know bed covers were made of fiberglass? didnt think so/
I bought it and on the box, assuming you take the time and effort to... Read. You can clearly see where it says fiberglass. This may be the result of incidents like this in the past but on my box it says it.
I'm fucking HEATED. I got this shit all over my room. RIP $700 mattress firm purchase.
