Can the 2.5 liter 4 cyl be used with the ecoboost turbo setup? I have a 2013 Fusion and couldn’t afford the 2.0 version when I bought mine. But I’d like to get more power from my engine and a turbo swap seems like a good way to go.
Depends 2.0 Before 2015 is closed deck from 2015 changed to open deck in some models the Edge 2016 came open deck but the Fusion was kept closed until 2017. The newer (2020+) ones are still open decks but better build... If you apply the same mods done today to Hondas these engines can be pretty solid!
This is true of the 1.5 ltr, but not of the 2.0 ltr. The 2.0 still has direct injection only. Damn shame too as this would have made it the best 2.0 out there.
I have a 2019 2.0L and I am pretty sure, (not positive), that the oil pump is chain-driven. I don't think the 2.0L ever had a belt-driven oil pump but I'd like to know if I'm wrong about that.
The fact that the type R today makes 315 hp and Ford made 350 years ago but wasn't bought in enough numbers to make ford continue production makes me think how overrated hondas are and how that cost us a better car
Toyota. The TOYOTA engine off-screen, is better.... I know nobody asked but it popped in my side-feed or the whatever... and I'm actually sorry if I hurt the feelings of those unfortunate enough to own anything from FixOrRepairDaily but, I felt I had to leave my snarky .02¢ anyway...again sorry
I own the 2.3 slightly modified.
My fav four cylinder engine and most likely the best mass produced I4, period.
R - Thanks for taking the time to share your experience! What vehicle do you have?
@8020Media I have a 20 Ranger and a 22 EB Mustang. Great drive train. Same in both vehicles, just tuned different.
R - Nice! Thanks for sharing.
Not a big difference from what you said but the 2.0 Ecoboost in the Maverick makes over 270 lb ft at 277 lb ft. Nice vid!
S - Thanks for the feedback and insight!

K - What are you wanting more power for? Guessing it's a daily driver?
I am really tempted to put one of these 2.3's into my '85 S15 truck to replace the 3.4 v6 in it now.
B - That would be an interesting build for sure.
Pre 2020 or post 2020?
D - The newer the better.
The 2.0L is stronger. The 2.3 is open deck. Anyone building for big power starts with a 2.0L block and strokes it to get the 2.3 displacement.
D - Thanks for sharing this insight.

G - Well said.
The 2.0 now has added port injection, at least in the Escape (from the new 2023 model). Plus a few other mods to the layout.
P - This is correct. Much better on the engines.
That engine is technically a completely different engine. Part of the "MPC" engine series

@@robertdevoy3119 This is not true. I have the latest Escape 2.0 ltr and it has port injection.
The newest 2.3 in the Mustang 2024 also has direct and port injection.
Is Ford still using Mazda’s 2.3 for most of it?
T - The 2.3 still has the Mazda engine in its roots, but they made significant updates to Mazda's original 2.3.
NO MENTION OF THE WET OIL PUMP BELT IN THE 2.0 ?????
M - Thanks for the insight.
I thought both of them equipped with wet belt. Or I'm not right?

That's a 1.0 issue
