You couldn't use this map to get out of bed in the morning
So far: sleep. Still to come: more snoozing. And beyond: more movement. Breakfast!
If you got up at 2am time to watch this train wreck, I feel sorry for you
I actually thought this roadmap was a meme for a minute, just because it looked completely thrown together and had the big "tanks!" bit in there.
I mean that said if one of those tanks is a plastic Fellblade I'm happy.
Yeah, it’s an easy win, right?
Only one thing can summarise my feelings on the roadmap: “is this some out of season April Fool’s joke?”
Pitching it as a roadmap was the faux pas
We do not want Heresy 3.0, it will just be 2.0 with a new set of problems they won't address. We need a balance patch, not a new edition
I couldn't agree more with you.
I have the feeling everyone knows about this reality; the specialist game studio, the content creators like HH and SN, the players,...everyone. And yet, we keep on hearing about a new edition as a solid rumour or unavoidable reality. If the only reason to change editions is that "a release box sells a lot", I would calculate the amortisation of that sales bump over the X years the new edition would last. And compare that with the sustained sales growth of the 2.0 edition but the creative efforts put into addressing the issues and releasing missing models. I dont know if then the "sales bump" will be worth.
Cerri hit the nail on the head, I think. If GW wants me to wait for something, they have to give me *some* real idea of when and what I'm waiting for, or I'm just going to print it.
If they said: "Every legion will have a plastic upgrade set by this time, and here's an idea of what they'll include" or "Destroyers are planned for 3rd quarter next year." Cool, I can plan around that. I can wait for that.
My concern with the new edition rumors is that their solution to people not wanting to wait years and years for official support won't be to communicate better, it'll just be to take away all the unsupported options and customization by releasing a new edition, like they did with 40k wargear. That would 100% kill the game for me.
GW idea of fixing the issues they created is to release a new edition with a whole different set of issues. Just like the plugging a hole in a dam with your finger or some gum. Temporary solutions for long term issues.
Is a roadmap of a roundabout ;-)
That’s old road map works pretty well …. GW ‘hold my beer & I’ll fix that’
According to Merriam-Webster, a roadmap has multiple definitions:
A detailed plan to guide progress towards a goal ....
There was a rumor that GW wants to get of resin mid term, which would make a lot of sense. So legion specific plastic units as a long term goal fits to that.
The HH roadmap and reveals were pitiful, but at least we are not in a new edition hearing that with less of half the codeces released they are taking a hiatus for 4 months before releasing the next one at the edition's half way mark....
GW squatting resin feels like a rational conclusion based on their recent behaviour. The fact that they've shuttered FW as a brand is a good indicator.
Frankly I’d be down for a line squad upgrade box; despoilers/ breachers/ recon/ scout in plastic. Be that one or two kits.
I also foresee legion upgrades, heads and shoulders, making their way to plastic before we get legion specific units
Space Wolf Grey Slayers in plastic?
I feel like I am being trolled if Sisters of Silence are in Imperialis before the normal Heresy.
I guess slayers would go hand in hand with despoilers? A despoiler pack with chain axes and swords would be nice for a few different legions.
Not particularly happy with the "roadmap" but I do have to say I'm ridiculously happy to finally get some information about melee weapons because I've been quite looking forward to them, and also would like to finish some models!
Honestly.... if they want people to stop 3d printing everything.
Definitely let us know that it will be releasing within a reasonable time frame.
Just blows my mind how inept they are.
BUT you did make me understand why they've been so bad at this... pleasing the share holders over the customers. Makes sense.
(I know some people will always 3d print, but for those of us who like plastic... we will prefer to wait)
Dont get why they did not just show the close combat upgrade to give us something, easy points right there.
What we got was a big embarrassment from GW at one of the biggest event in the world.
A learning exercise?
@@heresyhammer learning like falling on your bike, Down a hill into a dumbster fire... yea sure😅
This map..... looks like what a highschooler throws together for a homework assignment about 30 minutes before the deadline.
Absolutely cringeworthy
EDIT: I forgot for a sec that Heresy 3 will come at some point, but even so...this map is a mess, even legibility-wise.
The word ‘Map’ is doing a lot of heavy lifting there to be honest
@@heresyhammer honestly, I might have preferred it if they didn't put out this thing and just stated that Heresy releases would start again after the summer.
I really hope they dont do a new edition. If they're going to though, I want to know. Im not putting any more money into this game until I know the shelf life of my books.
I just hope that "new legion options" doesn't end up with just more Fists and SoH.
Well yes. They are legions and would get there’s too.
An interesting video would be comparing the current releases with the OG Forgeworld releases for 1.0
Why the most helpful info was in the warcom article and not the 'roadmap' powerpoint slide was a strange decision as it's sparked a kneejerk reaction over what is nevertheless amusingly bad comms.
Personally not enthused at the prospect of a 3rd edition in 2025 as feel like i've barely had time to get into 2nd, but it drives revenue through rules changes so i see the business reasoning
I thought GW might of temporarily got rid of Heresy Thursday because they was going to save those models for nova. Turns out based on nova being basically a budget roadmap event that Heresy Thursday was stopped because they just didn’t have anything. It is nice however to see it come back. Let’s hope next year isn’t as dead and disappointing for the Horus Heresy.
On one hand any heresy news, big or small has me excited. OTOH that was a pitiful release show for all the game systems except Bloodbowl, which is one of their better game systems. Yet it started 15 minutes earlier than the advertised start time so I didn't even see it until later. The whole recording feels like something they waited until 4pm last friday to throw together and everybody on the interview seat was already checked out for the weekend.
Only guessing bt they prob didn’t like 2023 roadmap, too strict and maybe cause disappointment (melee weapons being a big one)
Liked what I heard about legions imperialis ! Did expect to see more tho! Models, book titles etc
GW should do the bulk of their plastic abroad for cheap but also have a fairly big plastic operation in England that can quickly fill gaps
They're a big company with almost guaranteed markets for whatever they able to make
TTTTAAAAANNNNNKKKKKSSSSS!!!!
Still waiting for the upgraded mk IV…
AndyH did say Legion Specific in Plastic, not resin. What that would be is anyone’s guess. Standard 5 body poses but with legion markings? Weapon sets? Rhino and Raider door sets?
He did, but we were also considering whether that would be exclusively plastic/resin, but that may have been a discussion we had off canera
I’m gonna guess plastic upgrades like Killteam Night Lords and the new command squad, and then charge a buttload for those
when a roadmap is neither map nor road🤣
Looks like the kind of slide I prepare for work presentations when I haven’t got anything good to say and I’m hopeful that something magically comes down the pipeline
This is like a roadmap from a plane at 30,000 ft on a cloudy day, we've left this country, and now on your left you might be able to see stuff and on your right you might be able to see more stuff. i don't mind a little vagueness, even abit or chop and change the order of releases, but stuff will be released is not helpful at all, my thinking is a new edition has been talked about and so thats why theres no real information, as they dont want to give away the exact release date
As for the game being bigger than expected, the biggest thing from my point of view is i wanted a gaming system that was fairly static and long lived than what other GW systems have become with a new game every 3-4 years with constant rules purchases, i hope GW stays away from that business model, once a year on a campaign book or once a year on a rules FAQ would be fine by me. I`d prefer what people like SN did, and release their own kind of rules adjustments whether you like them or not, the point being community led changes in the interim periods
on a personal level i want to see landspeeders and javelins to be released in plastic
Really begs the question of why bother with a “reveal” show? Instead of being so vague they could have came on for each game and said “due to unforeseen circumstances we can’t give a proper release timeline but here’s what you can look forward to:” and show then show off a few new things. Like the melee sprue, maybe renders of breachers or a list of a few units to expect in ‘25. They use corporate drivel to make excuses for their constant price hikes…
I am curious to know if what we’ve seen so far for Mech are this year’s only release or if more are coming? Thanatar Calix and Karacnos seem like obvious additions at any point. The Krios Venator is sold out online so that does fit in with the “TANKS” on the roadmap…
I did have concerns that it was designed to allow HH to go into a bit of a hibernation phase, so that AoS, 10th ed etc could get all the oxygen
They need it. We heresy players are used to self-sufficiency
I remember the forgeworld dark years, kinda reminds me of that, just not as bad
No forge world did better even on the years they didn't they still surpassed this garbage 😊
@@guilliman1990 I suppose sometimes no news is good news
At this rate we're going to get administratum as a faction before we see plastic breachers.
Honestly don't give a shit about the map I want these new edition rumours to be addressed. I'm terrified GW are going to ruin Heresy with the same ideology they've applied to 40k and AOS. 😢
This is my fear do not f**king touch it no new edition no major updates just some FAQs and some rules added. That's it no major new edition leave it for another 6 or so years
@@guilliman1990 We've put too much time, effort and money into our armies for GW to turn around and say "fuck you guys, your shit doesn't work anymore, use just whatever you get in the box". I quit 40k because of that bullshit, don't bring that over here.
@14DEADSOUL haven't touched 40k since it moved to 8th my entire group gave it up we all. Only play heresy or old world.
It was the same thing for us coming over to 2.0 from 1.0 and it’s been a major improvement in all honesty. I wouldn’t get blackpilled
Lol tanks XD meanwhilst my legions rules are so shite I can guarantee my opponent a win. Lol but I wouldnt mind plastic Termite drills, seeing as they are for Astartes and Mechanicum, would be a good sell.
That “roadmap” are so messy, how does it connect, how to interpret it? Why the bottom line connecting the two columns?
Its a castellax in the corner, I dont necessarily think the mech book coming out now is a good thing. The orginal version of the book was meant to be including a skitarii list which has presumably now been canned
Forgive the blurry eyes
They still have not released the melee weapon set from the old roadmap.
"reveals" 😂
‘Interview with Andy about the future of Horus Heresy’ would have been a better title
@@heresyhammer true, but it captured the ridiculousness of it perfectly.
All I could think when I saw the "roadmap" was "do British people not have roads? Is that why they don't know what a roadmap looks like?"
We do it's just our roads are out of date, winding, full of potholes and often incapable of sustaining the required level of traffic.
We have roundabouts, as in, ‘in a roundabout way, this isn’t what we pitched it to be’…
The only good roads we have left are the ones built by the Romans
My lack of patience comes from the fact that the game is absurdly unbalanced between the legions. If any other company put out a half assed product like this they would be dealing with demands for a full refund faster than a sea gull on a hot chip at the beach! Why should customers be patient with a bogus product? Why should I accept quality control of this poor standard from a multi million dollar company? At least, when Microsoft puts out a half finished product they supply updates to fix the bugs on regular basis!
Felt like writing 'Show me on the doll where the Imperial Fists hurt you'. Are the legions really that unbalanced? I've not really fought any I thought were crazy good or bad and I've probably played against at least half of them. With Heresy being less about Compeitive nature, and more about narrative and fun; our gaming group tends to police itself a bit, so the legion weakness/strengths don't tend to come across as too bad. When I see 'legion rankings', from various U-tubers they do tend to vary somewhat.
@@padanfain7466 it sounds like you have a few caveats regarding your response. Firstly, it would be good to understand the legion you play. Secondly, you mentioned your group is self policing. The example I would like to give is the difference between say Raven Guard (RG) and Dark Angels (DA). I’ll use tactical marines as the basis for this example however you can dig into others if you choose. Let’s take a 20 man squad of tac marines for DA, give them the storm wing special rule from the hexagramaton and effectively you have created a 20 man squad of seekers for no additional points cost that are scoring. Now let’s compare the same 20 man squad from RG, the best they get is a once per game movement ability (infiltrate) and a 6+ shrouded when greater than 8 inches away which is negated by template weapons. For the RG player to match the DA player, he/she needs to spend points in special character, special units and or war gear.
Now, I realise your initial comment was nothing more than a troll to minimise my opinion and experience of HH. That’s ok, you do you. However, Macca has made this exact point in previous vids and there are other player who have selected legions they love through the lore only to be disappointed by the game mechanics. Truth be told my disagreement isn’t with you but GW and an under developed product. Furthermore, I could forgive this if pdfs were being released to correct the bugs within the game or to clarify writing and the contradictions around the rules.
@chrisgraham8368 so the example you give are 2 legions I have faced a number of times so at least I have some experience. Your comment suggests in this example that the DA are the far tougher side but in reality I've found the Ravenguard slightly tougher to battle against. Thing is, I don't think 'balance', really works in a tabletop wargame like this. They just have to be close, which I think the legions generally are. Otherwise you just have a boring homogenised game where everything is the same. In my honest opinion HH2.0 is the best iteration of a game GW have ever had and my gaming group seem to agree. We are having great fun playing it which is fantastic. Not sure why your calling me a troll for disagreeing with you. As for the legion, I thought it was obvious, check my thumbnail....Ultramarines! For the Emperor! For Macragge!
Heresy is benefitting from GW making a mess of 40k. If we get more attention to heresy, who's to say they won't make a mess of that as well? :)
Look at 40k an sigmar utter trash I don't want them touching old world or heresy
