It is based on the poem in 52 chapters, One for every week of the year, " Song of myself " by Walt Whitman(cofounder of US poetry) USA 1892 version. The extended studio version of this song has, at the end, a poem as a tribute to Whitman made by Tuomas, the keyboard player and the mastermind of nightwish. Most of these lines you can also see fast flahing on the ledscreen of this video.

Ann was a big Nightwish Fan.
And every new person who listened to NW, she went through a little chat.
And gave them some info about NW.
This was her favorite song.
And this song belongs to her.
I like very much that Gabriel have continue Ann s work.... so her heritage is still here.
The fact you seem to genuinely enjoy Nightwish, unlike a lot of reactors who are 'jumping on the wagon' for views and likes only. Ive subbed you for this reason and probably a lot of the Nigtwish army will too.
I do love to witness the epiphany that new fans have when listening to NW for the first time
I'm hooked on Nightwish. I literally found them by accident alike 4 months ago and I can't get enough of them. Even got to see them live. I have a bunch of great swag. Keep on, keeping on with Nightwish!
Favorite song of the late Ann Waychoff, Mother of the Nightwish Army.
Inspired by the 52 chapter, 19th century poem of the same name by Walt Whitman. The spoken poem section at the end of the studio version (and fan made video) was written by Tuomas in an ode to the original. The words to that is what is being displayed on the big screen behind the band.

Is actually the last line of the poem that goes with this song. The poem is spoken on the album version after the song. The lines of that poem flow across the screen.
The song itself was inspired by the poem of the same name, written by Walt Whitman. Tuomas (they keyboardist and main composer of Nightwish) is heavily inspired by the greats, works of literature, and also fantasy works - "ancient", past, and present. They are also greatly inspired by science and nature. Song of Myself is one of my favorites. Though, it's so hard to choose a favorite with Nightwish!
Marco's (the bass player that sings with Floor) voice is phenomenal. If you want to check out more of his voice, there's a handful with him in charge vocally - you'll eventually get through all of them, but you won't go wrong whatever you choose. These songs have Marco in charge:

For now, I suppose I will suggest that you try maybe Yours Is An Empty Hope Live from Wembley. Please be sure to pick the Wembley version as that version is the best mix to hear all the vocals and everything going on. That's song is basically about internet hate that exists today. And, if you have trouble hearing what the lyrics are, there is no harm in having them pulled up or reading the lyrics before hand. Genius Lyrics is a great site to use for that, and they have all of Nightwish's song lyrics available there for free. Looking forward to the next one, regardless of what you choose to check out next!

It’s called crowd surfing. The inside joke with the Nightwish Army is that it’s not crowd surfing they are offering sacrifices to Floor the Valkyrie Goddess. Some other ones are it’s not pyrotechnics it’s actually Floor summoning fire or her hair blowing is not from the floor fan it’s the wind from everyone’s breath being taken away 😂

Let's jump back. At the end of "Song of Myself" there are a number of small narratives. The last movement is "And there remains forever that change from G to E minor". What does this sentence mean to you?
Holopainen (both laughing): I can't tell.
Donockley: But it's a very beautiful thing.
Holopainen: When it comes to art, timeless art, you have to be ambiguous. I don't want to sound pompous, but let's look at the Mona Lisa. If we could travel back in time to ask da Vinci what exactly he wanted to express with her smile - and then he gives us a very simple and obvious answer, then the special, the mysterious would be over in one small swoop. Instead, people have been dealing with this work of art for centuries. That is what is special about art. One should never explain oneself too much as an artist.
Donockley: The best way to respond to art is completely personal. Anyone who explains art only makes it smaller.

Donockley: Definitely.
Many Nightwish tracks deal with the great value of memories. Anyone experiencing something particularly beautiful would compose that moment in a triumphant key such as G major. Over time, such memories often become mixed with melancholy. Although the memory is the same, so the notes are the same, the atmosphere changes. As in the relative key of G major: e minor. Happy is he who continues to discover the beautiful within the sad.
Holpainen: That's very nice.
Donockley: That's exactly what we meant earlier. The smile of the Mona Lisa.

It always puts a huge smile on my face to see people bridge the small gap between rock and rap. Tom is a great example, a lot of his hooks are influenced by rock...and then Romanticide by these guys brings a rap feel.

When you see people being passed forward by the crowd, that's called crowd surfing; and it's a LOT of fun!! I'm 52, and I still do it every chance I get. I went to see Exodus and Testament a month ago and help lift over 40 people onto the crowd. Ya gotta try it

You're right of course, but there has been comments made about sacrificing people to Nightwish as a bit of a joke.

People being carried over the crowd is called crowd surfing and, as silly as it seems, its often the quickest way to get out of the crowd to the toilet!!!

Greg, you have always nice reactions to Nightwish. If you like documentaries and want to learn more about the band, there are couple really good ones. Many reactors have done videos about those.
'please learn the setlist in 48 hours' - tells everything about what happened 2012 when they were in a world tour and they kicked their lead singer out and Floor joined.
'making of endless forms most beautiful' - how they do their albums. Shows what kind of mastermind Tuomas (keys) really is.
Crowd surfing. Either done for fun, or you're locked in and need out...you will be passed "surf" forward to security up front to lift you out. People with big boots on who do this are no fun. And people who grope women surfers are deplorable.
When this song is played, The Army pays respect to Ann W....she's missed but close in our hearts. I didn't know her, but I feel very respectful of her memory.

This was on the album Imaginarium. There's an entire movie that Tuomas wrote for this Album. The saying at the end is G to E minor. Eminor is written as Em, so if you put it together it is Gem. Gem is main character in this movie.

I heard someone explain like this, the key of g and e on the piano are the same it only changes in the way you play it. So they said it means your still the same person but just different. It made a lot of sense to me when I read that. Hope this helps. Absolutely loved your reaction.

Body surfing the quickest way to the bathroom is crowd surf, been crowd surfing 35 plus years life time metal head although I tolerate most genres people crowd surf only in emergencies ie..Bathroom or bathroom only I did not pay becoming a human bridge for people just wanting to try it but hands down fastest way to bathrooms but you’re now further away but I’m empty didn’t have say a 1000 excuse mes 10 minutes snaking against annoyed people trying to catch a feel
